This was a terrifying page-turner, with an engaging and diverse cast of characters, a couple of fantastic twists, and stellar writing. Erin does a great job building up the tension. Once I got to around the 30% mark, I could NOT put it down, and read the rest in one sitting. If you love creepy sci-fi/horror mashups, you’ll love this book.

I actually didn’t know this was a zombie book going in (alright, they’re not *exactly* zombies, but pretty close). So again, once I got to ~30% in and it was evident that’s what this was going to be, I was ALL OVER IT. I can’t wait to find out what happens in book #2!
Few understand the true horror that lies in the empty unknown of space, but Erin Bowman nails it in Contagion. Read this one with the lights on!

Erin Bowman really crafted an engaging and visual story in Contagion. I could see everything playing out in my mind as I read the words on the page. It calls to mind the best sci-fi movies. Fast-paced and full of twists and turns. There’s still enough mystery left regarding the Contagion itself to propel things towards the sequel.
Aliens meets 28 Days Later! Stayed up too late reading…
I didn’t think a book could have jumpscares, but this proved me wrong. Every character was multifaceted and riveting, the plot was filled with mystery and suspense, and the atmosphere gave me chills. I am definitely getting every sequel!
Funtastic space horror, fun times, so many die, the bodies piled high. Intense action, mystery, and more dead bodies. Don’t love any of them, they may be dead on the next page. You have been warned.
Seriously, this was a good read for me. There was never an easy answer to their problems, only run like you’re going to die, because you are. LOL I loved reading it, I even read it slow in bits because I needed to step back and reflect (relax) on what I just read. I ordered book 2 before I even finished this one.
Let it be known that I am a avid horror movie, creepy pasta/podcast loving junkie. I absolutely love being scared but never tried to bridge those things with my love of reading. Until now.
This book was a very good lesson in why I don’t read creepy/horror things late at night. After I read it every little bump and creak of my house had my blood pumping and my fight or flight on red alert. You can tell by the premise that this story is intense. I’m sorry, that needs a capitalization. Intense. Right from the beginning I was hooked, this sci-fi story was exactly what I needed and played out like a classic horror film. Only better because my imagination ran absolutely wild with it. [Disclaimer: If you are squeamish or do not like reanimation/zombie type horror films you might not like this.]
The crew was a mismatch of different types of people with stellar diversity in all facets. We had the headstrong captain that makes THE MOST ASININE MISTAKES OMG, the middle aged and new adult crew members that fought with the captains (stupid) decisions and were looking out for themselves, the scientist character, and finally we had the youngest member who is essentially the intern to the doctor/researcher that plays a vital role in the story. Don’t get me wrong, the doctor definitely plays a major part in this story but it’s a YA book for a reason, so young intern gets the most spot light. Which I really enjoyed because she seemed like one of the few that actually had sound judgement of situations. There was multiple POVs in this story so we get to see whats going through their head when crap hits the fan which I loved/terrified me in equal measure.
This book was AMAZING! A rescue mission to a seemingly-deserted planet goes horribly, terribly wrong when the crew realizes that they could be infected with something that’s deadlier than any of them realize. Betrayal, heartbreak, action, scary not-quite-zombie-things, science gone wrong, and more! I immediately started on the second one after finishing this! Great for people who liked The Expanse
I couldn’t put it down!
