Sventé vampire Ava Sanchez has a difficult decision to make: should she accept the invitation of the Grand High Master Vampires and join their legion? It will mean leaving behind her brother and her home. It will also mean working with Pagori vampire, Salem McCauley. Unlike the majority of vampirekind, she doesn’t fear Mr. Tall, Blond, and Dauntless…even if he does have some psychopathic traits. … traits. In fact, he has a raw sexuality that tempts her to drop her ‘no relationships’ rule and give him exactly what he wants from her – everything.
Salem McCauley doesn’t like anything cute, or sweet, or cheery. Yet he wants Ava with a desperation that’s bordering on obsession. And shockingly, she doesn’t look at him like others do – you know, like they fear he’ll rip out their spinal cord for fun. Now that the legion will be busy hunting the players involved in the creation of an illegal vampiric brothel, there’s no time for pursuing Ava. But Salem makes time, because he never denies himself what he wants and he always holds tight to what’s his. And that’s exactly what Ava is, whether she knows it or not: His.
Warning: Contains bad words, dirty talk, and scenes of a steamy nature.

A bit slower than the others in the series, but it is still such a delight to experience this world again, it is still a good, warm, fuzzy read.
Audiobook review:
I am so behind getting to this series! Even though I loved the first three books who were mainly about Sam and Jared, I absolutely loved this book which featured Ava and Salem. Talk about opposites attracting! Ava was hilarious and fun and adorable. From the reviews I’ve read, she seemed to annoy quite a few people but I laughed and smiled throughout the book because of the things she said and did. Even though she was small and cute, she was also fierce! People tend to underestimate her and it was great to see the reactions of those people. Salem on the other hand, was definitely the dark to Ava’s light, people feared him just by looking at him, but to Ava he is her “cuddly bear.” I love every single encounter between these two.
Due to so many disappointments and people wanting to change her, Ava is reluctant to start anything with Salem, but to him she is exactly what he wants and is determined to make her his. I loved Salem’s possessive streak! He started off not wanting or even liking the sweet and cuteness of Ava, but she calmed him whenever the darkness started to consume him. Now that he has finally realized how much Ava means to him, he had a challenge to convince Ava that they were not temporary. And all the ways he did it was hot and just plain awesome! They definitely had obstacles with their current assignment and his past coming back to cause problems but there was no need to worry.
All the secondary characters were just as wonderful, and we see a glimpse of Knox Thorne from the Dark in You series!!! I feel a re-read coming on!
I was so excited that this book and the first three were available in Audible Escape, I devoured all four of these books within four days! The narrators, Justine Eyre and PJ Ochlan were fantastic!! PJ Ochlan’s accent for Salem definitely gave me the shivers. I loved this audio so much that I ended up buying the ebook and rereading it the next day. I loved this book! A definite 5-star.

Consumed, Fourth book in the Deep in your Veins series by Suzanne Wright
Continuation of the series but different main characters
Good thing that the series continues as I still seem to can’t get enough of it.
This one is about Ava Sanchez another Sventé vampire from Sam’s old nest who was invites to be a part of an all-female legion and Salem McCauley one of the member of the Personal Squad of the Grand High Pair.
What I like about this book was how different they are but still complements each other. Salem is tall, dark, hot and very serious. As what Cristiano says “A few mental steps away from a fucking psychopath”.. While Ava is small, upbeat and all over the place, she also acts as an airhead.
Ava is funny, the interrogation was hilarious and you think Salem is the psychopath.
I loved how Salem kept picking Ava up by the back of her shirt and carries her around.
Sam and Jared are present in the story which I love the most.
The story was well-written, a different plot and with new characters. Knox Thorne, a demon.
Loved this book and I’m sure you will.
Favorite Quote:
“Now go play with Ava or something”
“I don’t need Yogi when I have my own bear right here.” I rubbed his chest. “So cute and cuddly.”
Loved it. I laughed so much. There is this one scene where both Sam & Ava are interrogating a prisoner and the banter between those 2 women as they described how he was going to be tortured? Priceless!!! Ava & Salem’s love was alive and fantastic from the word go! This series is such kick ass fun to read. Great read!
I have read this series MANY MANY times and I Loved this book! Love this series! LOVE THIS AUTHOR!
Sarcasm galore.. I laughed and laughed. Every. Single. Book! 🙂
