I adore Bree and Tanner, their story and the connection they have sizzling in between them. But even more than that, I love the tender feelings, the protectiveness, the caring, the desire to get to know each other, and how they always support each other. The fact that Bree is awkward in social situations comes even more clear and is rather heavily underlined at the beginning, but also explained and showed how it all got to be before the book is over.
The suspense is intense at times. There are hair-raising moments, there are death threats and the ticking timebomb that is counting down in their computer screens. That insanely vehement research into the case with the computers reminded me of the other serial novel the author was part of, Tough Justice: Countdown, and gave just another confirmation that a savage investigation into a murder can be done in cyberspace as well.
Was the storyline a bit predictable as they took the road trip – yes, giving even more severity into the reading experience as you are just waiting for the hammer to hit, so to speak…
The fierce and boisterous suspense and investigation balance the adorably ardent romance developing in between Tanner and Bree. Their story will continue with one more installation, and I am looking forward to it.
~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
Bree and Tanner are back! Constant Risk is the third installment in a four-book series surrounding Bree and Tanner and their evolving relationship. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading the series in order to understand the full background and relationship of the two, as well as the interactions with the additional characters that appear in each story.
The plot thickens and tensions are at an all-time high in this recent addition as Bree and Tanner attempt to settle into a normal routine, making plans and exploring new ventures. While Tanner is looking to the future, Bree is still dealing with the remnants of her haunting past – the trial for Jetter; whom she helped capture in the previous book. In the midst of trial preparations with the DA, Tanner receives a call from their friend Whitaker, asking for a favor, concerning a current case in Dallas involving live transmitted feed of victims being trapped in tanks attached to countdown to their deaths. Bree’s computer genius and expertise are their only hope to help them solve the crimes.
Though Bree is the one requested, Tanner will not let her out of his sights until Jetter is behind bars for good, especially since they are going to the same area where Jetter is awaiting trial which heightens their stress and anxiety levels to the max. Being thrown into the chaos of the investigation with the Dallas PD and exposing Bree and her eccentricities to a mass of people along with the added pressure of solving the case are almost her undoing. Luckily, Tanner is there to be her buffer and safety net and to help ground her with his love and support. However, when circumstances spiral out of their control and a shocking twist is revealed, will this case end up being a closed chapter to Bree’s past or a tragic turn for their future.
Crouch does a fantastic job of bleeding the tension and anxiety level of the characters throughout the entire story. This book is a page-turner from start to end and I was unable to put it down. Even though I had an idea of the direction the story was taking there were plenty of unexpected shock and awe moments to ramp up the intrigue and hold my interest. She has created a wonderful set of characters who will charm you and a storyline that will pull you in and hold you hostage. The story is fast-paced and engaging and the characters will dazzle you with their distinct personalities. Tanner and Bree make a wonderful couple and I enjoyed seeing the progression of their relationship and the love and devotion the pair shared for each other. I am really looking forward to the final book in the series. Amazing read!
I have to say I love the Risk series Janie Crouch has written. Book 3 of the Risk series with Bree and Tanner is great. Each book gets better and better. I don’t know where she came up with some of the stuff she has written about in this book. Janie Crouch has a genius writing ability is all I can say. If you haven’t read this series you really should. I did receive an ARC for my honest review.
I enjoyed this intriguing romance with so much more. I voluntarily chose to review this story and I’ve given it a 5* rating. This pulled me in pretty fast and held on tight for the roller coaster ride with it’s many twists and turns, till the very end. If you enjoy computers, you might enjoy this story also, with a lot of terms used in hacking. I didn’t understand all of them but enough to enjoy this story till the end.
Loved this book. Great read. Would recommend to anyone. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
Bree and Tanner take on another challenge as they grow closer together. Everything series readers love about romantic suspense. Definitely part of a series and worth the read.
Constant Risk is the third installment in the Bree and Tanner series. It was action-packed from beginning to end.
Bree and Tanner are both recovering from their injuries after their last case went sideways. Now, they’re needed in Dallas where girls are being killed, and where Bree’s nemesis, Michael Jeter, is awaiting trial.
It’s not Tanner the Dallas PD needs to help crack this case, it’s Bree. She’s ready to step up with her big brain and master hacking skills, but Tanner won’t let her do it alone.
He’s determined to ask Bree to marry him, so he takes her to Dallas where he reconnects with Whitaker to help Bree solve this crime.
The case slowly unravels but not fast enough for Bree or Tanner, especially once Tanner learns that Jeter has made an escape attempt. Convinced Jeter is tucked away unconscious in a hospital, Tanner is ready to fly home with Bree, and ask her to be his wife.
In true Janie Crouch style, that isn’t exactly what happens. To avoid spoilers, I’ll say that once again, when push comes to shove, Bree and Tanner’s love and trust are all that’s needed to see them through.
If you love a fast, wild ride through serial killers and computer hacker minds, with the perfect amount of romance to keep you turning the pages, you’re going to love Constant Risk and the whole Bree and Tanner series!
I received the Risk series from the author as a FB party prize, and have enjoyed reading every installment. Not normally a series reader, I have nevertheless looked forward to each book, and to finding out if Bree and Tanner get their forever HEA.
This book was the best so far in the series. I enjoyed learning more about Bree and Tanner. I was hooked by the continuing storyline, which hasn’t grown old in the least. The action kept me on the edge of my seat, and the climax was a nail-biter. I look forward to reading the final book in the series, to see what is in store for Bree and Tanner next.
This book is a very clean read. I recommend it for readers who want suspense and closed door romance!
This book was fantastic! My favourite book in this series so far. The suspense and mystery was off the charts. Couldn’t put it down. I devoured in one sitting.
Bree & Tanner are set to work on solving a crime. With the odds stacked against them. Can they figure it out before it’s too late?
CONSTANT RISK is the third instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult BREE AND TANNER THRILLER romantic suspense series focusing on Deputy Taner Dempsey and computer hacker Bree Daniels. CONSTANT RISK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading book one CALCULATED RISK for back story and cohesion regarding the current premise.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Bree and Tanner) CONSTANT RISK follows our couple as they are called into an investigation where a possible serial killer was murdering his victims in plastic coffins. With Bree’s ability to hack even the toughest computer programs, our heroine finds herself on a deadline as the potential for four victims looms ever closer. Meanwhile, Bree’s preparations for the upcoming trial of the Organization’s head Michael Jeter hits a snag when Michael accepts that plea deal that ensures Michael goes away for life, if only, law enforcement are able to locate the missing prisoner.
Janie Crouch pulls the reader into a story of intrigue and suspense; vengeance and betrayal. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the characters are captivating and fascinating. CONSTANT RISK is another wonderful and mesmerizing addition to Crouch’s BREE AND TANNER THRILLER romantic suspense series.
Wow! This series just keeps getting better. This is the third book and was even more suspenseful and romantic that the others.
When the Dallas police get live-feed videos of a woman in a coffin-type box that is slowly filling with water, they need Bree and her outstanding computer skills to track them. Hopefully saving the woman before she drowns. Bree doesn’t hesitate to help but Tanner doesn’t want her to go to Dallas because Micheal Jetter is in prison there, and he doesn’t want her anywhere near him. Jetter was part of the Organization and had made Bree’s childhood a living Hell. He pushed her to the limits, making her write code for hours. He even tortured her to get her to meet his demands. Now that she has escaped from him, she never wants to see him again. Knowing she has to testify against Jetter is bad enough. The memories it will bring will be horrible. Even though Tanner doesn’t want her to go, Bree can’t stand by while a woman drowns. Not when she might be able to help.
As soon as they get to Dallas, Bree gets to work. She gets so engrossed in what she is doing, she doesn’t even notice anyone or anything around her. I love how Tanner knows her so well that he brings her food and forces her to take breaks. It’s a good thing he did because there were actually 4 women they had to find!
Before the call came in, Tanner was planning on proposing to Bree but that got put aside when they had to go to Dallas. I felt so bad for Tanner when he couldn’t follow through with his plan. He wanted everything to be perfect when he asked her to marry him and was understandably nervous about it.
I was given this book in consideration of my honest thoughts.
CONTANT RISK is book three in Janie Crouch’s Risk Series featuring Bree and Tanner Thrillers and picks up where we left of in the Bree and Tanner saga. I wasn’t sure the first book that introduced Bree’s terror to us could be topped, but book three is equally unputdownable and kept me on my toes throughout.
Tanner is thinking of the future and is trying to figure out where Bree is with her state of healing from her ordeal when we first get back into their lives, but his attention soon turns elsewhere when they are called in to help with an odd case in Atlanta.
Bree doesn’t hesitate to step in and help when Tanner tells her that her computer skills just might be the break they need to help take down an unsub who is kidnapping women and video taping them on a live feed as their would-be-coffin fills up with water. It’s a race against the clock to save these women, and just when they think they’re home free, a blast from the past shows up to turn it all upside down!
I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys intrigue from start to finish with a little back drama built in. This series has been great and with only one more book to come, I’m itching to see how Ms. Crouch will delight us all again. You can’t go wrong with any book in this series!
This is the third book of the series. You should read them in order. I absolutely loved this book just like the first two. It is a page turner, couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Each book in The Risk Series has been full of action and intrigue, but Constant Risk takes it up a notch. Tanner and Bree are back and even as they draw closer to each other, they face danger from two fronts. Women are missing and Bree’s computer talent is their only hope to save them. Plus Bree’s past is coming after them with a vengeance. On the romance front, Bree is still learning the ins and outs of it all and doesn’t always say the right thing. Fortunately, Tanner is patient and totally devoted, which is just part of the reason he’s so lovable. This is part of a series, and Janie Crouch does a terrific job of working backstory in organically so a new reader won’t be lost, but I would still recommend starting at the beginning to get the whole love story between this pair, not to mention the danger they face for each other. All in all, Constant Risk is romantic suspense at its finest – danger, suspense, edge of your seat action, and of course, a chemistry-filled love story.
Book 3 is just perfect and Bree & Tanner’s continuing story is fantastic!
There is suspense, angst, romance and heat. This book can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the previous books so you understand the dynamics of Bree & Tanner’s relationship.
In this story, there are several twists and turns that go with the suspense which adds to the romance between Bree & Tanner. Loved this book and can’t wait for book 4 as to see what is to happen between Bree & Tanner. The feels, steam, suspense and intensity of this story kept me on the edge of my seat. Definitely looking forward to book 4.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ********
Wow! Constant Risk is a suspenseful, edge of your seat, thriller! Bree and Tanner’s story continues in this book and it is action packed! I loved this story and didn’t want it to end. Cannot wait for the next book!
Absolutely An Amazing Suspense .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Constant Risk . I really enjoyed reading this story . This is a story that keeps you captivated from beginning to the end . Bree Daniels brilliant hacker and Captain Tanner Dempsey are asked by Richard Whitaker by the other Deputy Captain to travel to Dallas to help catch a serial killer . They agree with Bree’s skills both Tanner and Bree help on the case . Soon information is out that Michael Jeters and his group are behind the case and he wants Bree . Danger is lurking around the corner for not only Bree but Tanner also . This story is fantastic , action packed , so Suspenseful and intriguing . I couldn’t put it down . Sure is a rollercoaster ride with twists and turns . All out sensational . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy .
I want more of Tanner and Bree and the danger they find themselves in in each book, but also so the story of these two doesn’t end. I’m so LOVING this duo, Tanner the deputy in a small town where Bree found herself in and Bree, a woman with little social cues but a genius with computers like no other.
This time Bree is asked to come to Dallas by one of the law enforcers there who knows Bree and how her mind works. He asks for her to come and assist to help catch a serial killer and before another woman dies. Tanner goes with her and the two race against the clock to find the killer, only to come up with more unknowns and more women in danger. Not only that but Bree’s past catches up to her and it may be the last time she sees Tanner if she doesn’t find a way out of the danger the two find themselves in.
Holy smokes…this author does it again with another page turner with Tanner and Bree. These two have sparks and I LOVED how Tanner thwarts any attempts by others by stating, w/o hesitation, that Bree is his “one”. Not only that but his patience, guidance, and love for Bree shines through, accepting her social awkwardness and being by her side no matter what…sigh…swoon…sigh. I LOVED the twists and turns and the ending blew me away….I WANT MORE !!!!
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
How does this author keep doing it? This series just keeps getting better and better. Or maybe I should say high quality all the time. The intensity and plots are off the charts great! Again! I’m not generally super-quick to rate a book 5 Stars or 5+ stars but I’ve been running across some excellent books and this one is definitely one of those!
I liked that the author started the book out with a cast of characters list. A good review for me since I’ve read a few of the books in this series a while back. Also it should really help new readers I think.
I find it difficult to do a review without spoiling it by saying too much. So, just let me say a few things. Still love Tanner and Bree. Tanner is so in love with her; protective without hedging in her in too tight. I like how he loves her “big brain” and sees it as an important part of who she is. Bree has a nickname for Tanner that brings a smile. And she observes that although he might not understand all of the computer speak, he sure understands her. Bree’s people skill has improved a tiny, tiny bit but made her all the more endearing.
There is plenty of action, danger and surprises in the story. As well as good secondary people in the story too.
I have to say I don’t know how this author comes up with all this stuff but I’m glad she does.
The ending was exquisite in it’s justice.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
WOW! I can finally take a breath. What a breath- holding, action packed, romantic suspense roller coaster! This is book 3 in The Risk Series: A Bree and Tanner Thriller and we are back with these two unconventional love birds. I say unconventional because of her past, Bree doesn’t show emotion like most. The relationship between Bree and Tanner is perfect for them. These two are called to Dallas to help Dallas PD with a serial killer sending video clips via computer. At the same time, Michael Jeter is being transported by a prison bus and there’s an accident. Jeter was burned pretty badly. All of this is happening in Dallas, at the same time. Coincidence?
The action and suspense are BRILLIANT! The characters are AMAZING! I’ve loved every moment in their presence and I can’t wait for more.
