Book 1 of 2 in the Consolation DuetLiam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after. He wasn’t even on my radar. He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden. But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam. One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.
This duet is amazing!! Love the characters!! Liam, Liam, Liam!!
I would give it 5 stars but it is a cliffhanger and I hate them. I try to read a lot of reviews but seem to have missed this fact. Having said that, this is a great story that has been told before but still resonates. Her Navy Seal husband is killed right before she has their baby. The description of her grief is amazing and very realistic. She is helped by one of his best friends and fellow Seal and their friendship developed into much more.
This is one of my favorite books! I loved the characters. Especially Liam!
I love all Corinne Michaels books especially this one, it has an amazing story line and it truly can make you both smile and cry
There are books that stay with you long after you finish reading them. Consolation is one of those books for me. I was fortunate to receive an ARC over a month ago, and have not quit thinking about it since.
I enjoy a book where the author makes me feel every emotion of the characters and I felt all of the emotions of this book-Natalie’s heartbreak over losing her husband, the building of love for his best friend, and the need to do what is right for her daughter.
This book had it all! Through the loss of her husband, Natalie starts to find good best friend around often. They both fight the ” wrong” attraction and chemistry…. But then begin to heal in the arms of each other. And y’all these two are incredible!! Then the unthinkable happens……
This book requires tissues!!! But be prepared for it’s greatness, the twists and turns, and eventually it’s HAE!
This book is so beautifully written. I love the banter and the way Natalie and Liam discover their love for each other. This is a love story built from tragedy and you see it grow right in front of you. This book has all the feels including a “ oh no you didn’t “ directed toward the author. I highly recommend this book
I don’t know why I waited so long to read this book. It was phenomenal. So emotional and riveting. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. I laughed. I cried. I swooned.
Liam is amazing. He’s loyal and loving, charming and sweet. And the way he was with Aara was just so swoony.
Natalie is also amazing. I think she handled herself the way any woman would in her situation. As hard as it was, she worked hard to pull herself together, for Aara, for herself, and for Liam. I really connected with her and I felt everything she felt. The heartbreak, the agony, the anger, the struggle, the attraction, the love.
I loved that it was told in dual POV. I’ve started reading this series completely backwards. I started with Defenseless and fell in love with all the characters so I knew I needed to read the rest of the series and I chose to continue with Consolation and Conviction. While doing it this way left me with only a few questions about things that may have happened in other books, I would recommend starting with Beloved and working your way through.
Amazing book, a definite must read. I can’t wait for more from Corinne. Also, beware of the ending. It’s killer. So be sure to have Conviction on hand so you can dig right in.
This book will leave you wanting the next one!
This was my first book by Corinne and what I love about it is the genuine care for her characters. I have military friends who experienced some of this storyline and the angst that Lee demonstrated throughout the story is real. If you are looking for a great story, with real characters and some spice, this is the book for you.
Most importantly, Liam is the best alpha Navy male I have read about and still my go-to when I need military stories. He is most definitely worth you reading time.
Such a great read. I could not put it down.
I absolutely LOVE this book! It is my favorite book of Corinne’s! Liam is the swooniest!!!!!
Natalie needs to live for her daughter. She needs to learn how to move forward and live after her husband dies. How does she move on and forward when all she has know and loved is Aaron? How does she move on when a piece of her is gone?
I shouldn’t want this.
But I do.
I shouldn’t be this comfortable in his arms.
But I am.
I should make him leave and put some distance between us.
But I can’t.
Liam was Aaron’s best friend. He was at her wedding. He came to her house, spent time with her husband. She shouldn’t be having these feelings. The only problem is sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.
Liam was just there to help Natalie. To be there for her. One day turned into the next and he was a constant in Natalie’s life.
I swore I would look after her if something happened, but no one told me I’d fall in love with my best friend’s wife. I need to walk away before I’m in too deep.
Corinne Michaels knows how to write a book that’s not just a story but a journey. And that’s what this is, a journey, Natalie & Liam’s journey. She makes you feel what Natalie is going through. Her every thought and emotion. What emotions Liam struggles with each day. And the ghost they both are fighting.
All these emotions are exactly what you feel at the end. I’m not going to lie the cliffhanger was BIG but the shock factor was there so you felt all these emotions right along with these characters.
This book is a MUST READ!
This book was amazing! It is also gut wrenching and shocking at times.
Beware this ends in an epic cliffhanger. Have conviction standing by
Omg this book!! Liam is forever my Book Boyfriend!! I will claim him till the end of time….
This is one of those books you can’t let go of… you want to stay within the pages until end of time!! Seriously!! It’s going to suck you in and your never coming back the same!!
Ahhhh LIAM!!! I can’t tell you how much I love Liam and Lee’s story. Be prepared for a sexy SEAL, steamy scenes, laughter and some maybe a few tears. Even a year after reading it, and 200 books later, Liam is still one of my ultimate book boyfriends. I can’t get enough of their story! Be prepared to immediately read Conviction as this IS a duet!
Wow. What an emotional ride! I loved the little bit we got to know about Natalie and her husband, Aaron, in the Beloved duet, and couldn’t wait to to read her story, especially after the tease of her husband’s death when she was pregnant. I know that military wives (and husbands) know the risk their spouses are put in (I was a Marine Corps brat myself), but that doesn’t negate the difficulty of losing your loved one. How does one go on?
Corinne Michaels wrote a wonderful love story about a woman who had lost, but was able to be consoled and brought back to life again, with Liam.
And, OMG, Liam…. The internal (and at times, external) battle he fought with himself over falling in love with his best friend’s wife… Well, who couldn’t love a guy who had difficulty dealing with trying to “respect” the marriage vows between his deceased best friend and the woman he has fallen in love with? Oh, how I love him! The relationship that he develops with Natalie’s daughter is so heartwarming! I love a man who loves babies!
And what a cliff-hanger! Thank goodness the wait wasn’t too long for Conviction!!!!
Although I loved the Belonging duet, this duet takes the cake!! Corinne Michaels is one of those authors that I turn to when I need to read a wonderful love story with some angst!
I will love Liam and Natalie forever. This book tore my heart out in the best possible way
My all time favorite Corinne Michaels duet. If you haven’t read this duet DO IT NOW!!!! I wish I could read it again for the first time. Liam Liam Liam!!!!
I was a big fan of Corinne’s first series, The Belonging Duet, that told the story of Jackson Cole and Catherine Pope. I did not think it was possible to have room in my my book boyfriend loving heart for anyone after Jackson Cole, but hello, Liam Dempsey.
Aaron Gilcher and his wife Natalie were seen in the Belonging Duet. He was a member of Jackson’s Team. When tragedy struck for Aaron and Natalie, your heart went out to Aaron’s widow. She now has to raise their daughter alone while grieving the loss of her beloved husband. Help comes unexpectedly from Aaron’s best friend, Liam. He reminds Natalie that it’s okay to laugh again, to live again, to love again. Guilt and sadness though threaten her moving on even as her feelings for Liam intensify.
This book brings you on such a roller coaster of emotions. You’ll cry, you’ll get angry, you’ll want to punch some of the characters’ lights out. Be prepared for all of that when you read! Also be prepared to laugh—some of my favorite scenes were with Liam and Natalie’s daughter, Aarabelle.
Corinne truly outdid herself here and I cannot wait to see everyone’s reaction. You will love Liam and you will champion Natalie—a strong heroine that keeps going even when she just wants to crawl up in a hole. Cannot say enough about what a great, fantastic, amazing book this was!
This book is one of my all time favorites! It is a story that will stick with you long after you finish reading it. Liam and Natalie stole a piece of my heart. I have read their story numerous times and I am sure that I will read it many, many more times. Grab a copy of this amazing story ASAP! You will not be disappointed!!
