Rick Black and Jake McShane are former law school classmates with very different approaches to life and the law. Rick is a brilliant, ultracompetitive trial lawyer who believes winning is everything. He openly mocks the legal system, claiming that a lawyer who is a great storyteller can fool a jury every time. He is determined to exploit that weakness in our system, regardless of the havoc that … that wreaks on innocent lives. When an upstanding pillar of the community is victimized by Rick’s unscrupulous tactics, Jake is determined to bring his former classmate to justice—if he can do so without sacrificing his own integrity. Their approaches, skills and convictions are put to the test when they clash as opposing counsel in a high-stakes class action lawsuit. Dirty tricks, intimidation, intrigue—even homicide—become part of the backdrop as the litigation unfolds. Consequential Damages is a compelling legal drama full of twists, turns and suspense. And, it will make you think!

Not much substance. Predictable.
I felt the book held a great deal of promise. But it headed into “preachy” territory when the author kept repeating on how the justice system is failing. It could have been the same several paragraphs just repeated throughout the manuscript. Overall the writing was ok a “summer read” although tending to “Preach” in places.
Slow to start but good read
Booooring……
What a wonderful book to read, when it’s the first one of the author you have ever read! Definitely worth ten times what I spent l!
Great book!
Jake is in law school trying to get through the terrors of the finals. His all-important outlines are stolen from his hideaway study location. It is an important lesson to learn.
As a hotshot new lawyer, Jake’s law firm is defending an insurance company whose patients have been overbooked. In the face of changing billing practices this might be expected.
One of Jake’s former classmates is bringing the suit and may have an insider to muddy the waters.
How high a price will each side pay to win?
Well written, kept my interest all the way through…
Good lawyer book. Title is great description of book. Good read.
