From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a suspenseful thriller about secrets and deception, passion and love, choices and consequences.
Every action has consequences.
Waking in an unfamiliar bedroom in a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols is terrified to discover that a chance encounter led her into the cruel hands of her abductor, Anthony Rawlings. Claire has … hands of her abductor, Anthony Rawlings. Claire has no understanding of why she’s there, but it’s been made abundantly clear — she is now his acquisition and every action has consequences.
Learn the rules to survive.
Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive her new reality — every aspect of her livelihood depends upon the tall, dark-eyed tycoon who is a true master of deception. Driven by unknown demons, he has no tolerance for imperfection, in any aspect of his life, including his recent acquisition. Anthony may appear to the world as a handsome, benevolent businessman, but in reality Claire knows firsthand that he’s a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: do as you’re told, public failure is not an option, and appearances are of the utmost importance.
Captivate the captor.
To fit together the pieces of the puzzle, Claire must follow his rules. Will her plan work, or will Anthony become enthralled by Claire’s beauty, resilience, and determination, changing the game forever? If that happens, will either of them survive the consequences?
Nobody ever did or ever will escape the consequences of his choices. — Alfred A. Montapert

I loved this book. Very unpredictable.
This book and this series is one of my all time favorites. This book was amazing, my friends and I still talk about today years later. I definitely recommend this book, this author and this series.
This series was amazing, I literally could not put it down. Everyone I recommended it to also loved it.
I could not get enough of this series. I picked up one after the other.
Great book. Be prepared to purchase the whole series because you’ll want to know what happens next!
The reader is easily drawn into this dark world of deception. Will be a challenge to read for anyone that has suffered abuse. Ending was a complete shock!
Annoying how he is such an ass hole. I barely got through reading it. I will not be reading the next book. It was good for a while then gets boring the gets good.
UGH
The last 1% was the only thing good about the book. Claire was week and spineless taking metal, physical and emotional abuse and accepting blame for the abuse.
Anthony was a prick. I never saw one redeeming quality to understand why the h would stay with him. I struggled to finish the first book and will not continue with the series.
The …
You think you got the plot figured out? Or, you think you hate the dark, mysterious leading man? Think again! This series is full of plot twists that will keep you reading late into the night.
There are a lot of detained descriptions in this book that could have been left out. The “hero” has no redeeming qualities and the way the heroine acted made me sad for her. I love a good dark or BDSM book, but this wasn’t that. I don’t know if it was supposed to be a romance, but it left me feeling dirty and not in a good way. Even the revenge …
This series just keeps you enthralled.
Complex characters. Twists and turns
It is Althea! No more needs to be said.
This series is one of my all time favorites. Take heed to the fact that there are triggers in this book but the ride is so worth it.
This book is so twisted I couldn’t put it down. I read this book until my eyes couldn’t focus and had to go to bed. This book will not disappoint.
Oh My Anthony Rawlings is something else. I didn’t think that I would like this book it took me awhile to get into it. I kept reading and it seems like it took off on its own. I really felt bad for Claire she let Anthony control her and it seems that he went to extremes. I am glad that I continued to read. I am looking forward to the next book to …
This series turned me off Aleatha Romig. Way too close to domestic violence rather than dominance/ submission. And so freaking wordy. A no for me.
I found this book a little too extreme and it made me uncomfortable.
I hope you’re supposed to have the main male character, cause I did. Made it tough to stick with finishing.
Despite a promising premise, the book degenerates into repetitive descriptions of high-end shopping and luxury living spiced with strangely coy accounts of spousal brutality and violent sex. I kept flicking through the boring stuff, thinking this would become an interesting account of loving and living with an abusive, bi-polar husband. Instead, …
