When you’re reading this book, you will be able to tell right away that this author does her research well! It’s books like this one that makes me love historical romances so much…you’ve got history, action, romance, twists and turns, a strong heroine, a strong hero, passion, etc… I really enjoyed reading Ram and Mabelle’s story which takes place in the aftermath of the Norman Conquest of England. Well done and highly recommend.
It seems in these stories there is a continual theme of fearing to be honest about ones feelings for another. This contrast is annoying at times but it does keep you on your toes. The male double standard is probably true for the era.
Liked the story so much it prompted me to purchase the other two books. Thx
Loved it
Lovers of medieval romance will love Conquest!
I really enjoyed Anna Markland’s first story ‘Conquest’! It had all the elements to please me! This author is a talented storyteller and very descriptive writer, she never disappoints me. Conquest is the combination of two of Ms. Markland’s epic tales, Conquering Passion and Defiant Passion, with added scenes and new plot twists.
Conquest covers a span of over ten years and is rich in details of 11th century England, Scotland and Wales. Book One of the Montbryce Legacy (Anniversary Edition) introduces the three Montbryce brothers, Rambaud (Ram), Antoine and Hugh, sons of a noble Norman family with a long and illustrious military history. A fascinating journey, filled with ups and downs, of two charming characters named Ram and Mabelle. Their story kept me interested until the very end! Excellent mix of passion, betrayal and vengeance!

I enjoyed this book. I like reading books like this one. It is interesting, intriguing and is good reading.
I loved the characters and the story they portrayed. The use of actual persons and events made this exceptionally good.
Always enjoy novels based on real life. Love the historical parts especially when it gets to some names or times of part of my ancestry.
What a great writer!
Enjoyable
Loved the plot and the characters. I had not read a book that covered a 10 year period of time before but it made sense with this story making it more realistic.
I would recommend this book to any one who enjoys history combined with romance and laughter.
Really great book, had to read here and there, but couldn’t wait to get back to it each time.
Great character line up!
Here is a detailed description of some of the action surrounding 1066, the Battle of Hastings, life and adventure along the Welsh/English border, interspersed with a great love story. Can’t ask for much more!
Loved this book! Great storyline and characters. I got caught up in the story and the descriptions really pulled me in!
This was a story about Mabelle around the time of the Norman conquest of England. I liked her a lot. Mabellel was raised a lady but
she was cast out of her manse with her father because he killed some lord. She would move every time her father stuck his foot in his mouth. Like for years.
Finally a lord recognized her value as a wife for his son but again complications arose. Then we get a longggg history of the norman conquest. Then another story of Mabelle. Parts of the story was really good and I like history but it was too much for me.
Never got in to the book.
Hard to go back and forth
couldnt get into this book sorry
