This regency romance by USA TODAY bestselling and HOLT Medallion winning author BREE WOLF about an resourceful lady and a gentleman caught in a trap proves that there is one thing love cannot do: hide.
ABIGAIL ABBOTT knows that many young women would kill to be her: whisked away to London for the Season with eligible gentlemen clamouring to win her hand. Still, after only just losing her beloved … her beloved father, Abigail feels nowhere near ready to heed her grandfather’s demand of choosing an appropriate husband. What she longs for is a friend. Someone to soothe her broken heart. Someone to make her smile.
Not a slew of suitors hell-bent on getting their hands on her dowry.
Since Abigail’s grandfather refuses to acknowledge her objections, she is left with no other choice but to find her own means of discouraging the many men that flock to her side. Now, what would it take to send them running for the hills despite the incentive of her grandfather’s dowry?
GRIFFIN RAMSEY, EARL OF AMBERLY, seriously doubts his sister’s love for him when she insists he make the acquaintance of the most awful woman he’s ever laid eyes upon. Dressed like a giant insect, Miss Abbott seems to have made it her goal in life to inflict injury upon her fellow man. Was she insane? After all, what other explanation could there be?
Clearly, Winifred wishes him to suffer for some imagined slight against her; Griffin is certain of it. Until one afternoon in Hyde Park opens Griffin’s eyes and makes him look at young Miss Abbott with different eyes.

I received a free copy of the novella Conquering Her Heart book 8 of A Forbidden Love Novella by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Winifred and Griffin’s pact continues in this fast paced novella with Griffin being the target of his mischievous matchmaking married sister. Winifred seeing through the facade that recently orphaned Abigail has erected to protect herself against money hungry suitors matches Abigail with her caring if slightly clueless brother. Joined in solidarity, Abigail and Griffin make a pact of their own. I loved the fiercely loyal and loving personality of Abigail, the crotchety Grandfather, the humor evoked by the multiple conniving yet lovingly interfering characters contained in this book, and of course the happy ending.
4.5 Stars
Not too long ago, Griffin Ramsey, Earl Of Amberly, thought that agreeing to his sister Winifred’s suggestion of choosing each other’s spouse was an acceptable idea. At the very least, it was worth ensuring that she would marry the one man she had always loved. However, when it is his sister’s turn to present him with the woman of her choice, Griffin realises that he might have made the biggest mistake of his life.
Growing up as a simple man’s daughter, Abigail Abbott is overwhelmed when her late mother’s father, the Duke of Ashold, sends his daughter in law, Mara to whisk her away to London for the Season. All of a sudden, Abigail finds herself swarmed with eligible suitors, who fail to see past her grandfather’s title as well as the enormous dowry bestowed on her.
This was a feel good read & very enjoyable. Abigail was delightful & her act as the most horrid woman in England had me laughing out loud. I really liked Griffin in Winifred’s story & he was so honourable & sigh worthy. His reaction to having to pursue Abigail & then actually seeing her for herself was both funny & touching. I was a little surprised that Abigail was thrust into society only weeks after her father died surely she would have been in mourning for a year?
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
In the previous novella in Bree Wolf’s Forbidden Love series, Lady Winifred agreed to let her brother Griffin find the perfect choice for her husband. Now it is Winifred’s turn to find Griffin his future wife. To Griffin’s dismay, she has picked out the most awful woman possible. Unbeknownst to Griffin, Lady Winifred discovers that Abigail Abbott is portraying herself in the worst possible light. She does this to drive away potential suitors only interested in the dowry her grandfather, a duke, is bestowing on her. Griffin discovers Abigail’s ruse and the two of them reach an agreement to turn the tables on Winifred.
I loved this witty, highly entertaining read. Once again, Bree Wolf has excelled at a well-written work full of delightful characters, lively banter between all, some mischief, some deceit, and most of all a growing, endearing romance between Abigail and Griffin. Highly recommend. Worthy of 4 ½ – 5 stars.
Please note I received an ARC of this novella and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of what I read.
