Wow, I thought Overture was a masterpiece (which of course it was), but Concerto was a stunning masterpiece. It picks up with Samantha on tour but there is still questions unanswered concerning her dad, who was supposed to be dead but has been lying low for the last six years. North Security is proving protection for her, however Laim’s brother Josh is not happy about his brother and Samantha being together. He feels she will hurt him in the long run, therefore he doesn’t quite provide her with the best protection. We learn a little more about Liam’s past and the abuse he and his brothers went thru. I also loved how vivid the scenes were and very much loved the music choices. The were very fitting. I can’t wait until the next book.
Book two for Liam and Samantha was heartbreaking and beautiful. Love the give and take between the two characters. Samantha is on the road with a concert and we get to meet some new characters that I would love to see in the future. This book was sinful sexy and I can’t wait for Sonata!!

Concerto by Skye Warren is perfect way to show readers how much ecstatic they can feel about one story… about one couple and definetelfy about this ONE author!
If Overture left me speachless, I’m not sure what should I say after finnishing Concerto. This book take me down to my knees, and I don’t want to get up ! I want to savour every oment of this bookhangover that Concerto give me… I want to stay forever with Samatha and Liam in their world… I want to still read about their love, because they were amazing together.
I loved Liam and Sam since book no 1, and now I feel even more seduced that it was previously…
They share forbidden love, which gave them a lot of issues. |Drama from the background still making me little breathless, but I’ve enjoyed so much all twists, ups and downs. The biggest impression gave me Liam, gahhhh I ‘m so in love with this man… but poor me, right??? He fall so deep for Samantha !!!! I loved how he craved to own her in every possible way. |Both of them are amazing characters to read, I just couldn’t leave them for a tiny little moment… I needed to read this book as fast as I can even if every paige takes me further to end of this book.
Absolutely must read.
North Security Book #2, Concerto by Skye Warren. Two books in and I am loving this trilogy, as per usual with anything that I’ve read from Skye Warren! This sexy and suspenseful story is told in dual POV and leaves off on a HUGE cliffhanger! The trilogy will need to be read in sequence though so if you haven’t read Overture yet (what are you waiting for?!) then don’t read any further into this review because there will be spoilers from book one.
Concerto picks up right where Overture left off. Samantha is now on a worldwide tour working on becoming the independent woman that she knows she can be and learning to stand up for herself with Liam not around to do it for her anymore. Liam has always kept her so sheltered that she’s not having an easy time adjusting to life on tour… and without him.
“He was more than my guardian-he was the axis around which I spun.”
Liam North was granted custody of Samantha six years ago when she was twelve years old, but as she grew into the woman she is now, his feelings for her grew as well. Feeling not deserving of her love, although keeping her protected Liam tries to keep Samantha at arm’s length. Which is the farthest thing from what Samantha really wants.
“A violin is not a thing-not to someone who plays like me. It’s moody and emotional and mysterious. That’s what Liam is to me.”
While Samantha is on tour, Liam sends his brother and business partner, Josh, along with Samantha for her protection since there is still a threat to her life, but of course, he can’t stay away for long and soon after winds up following them.
Will the past finally catch up to Liam and Samantha?
What is more important to Samantha, her dream or the man she loves?
With someone in their inner circle betraying them, who can they trust when choices have to be made?
You’ll have to read Concerto to find out!
OMG, this book you guys, WOW! I thought that Overture was intense, well Concerto surpassed my expectations in a BIG way! The angst, the characters, the romance, the secrets, the suspense, the passion, you guys I am completely hooked!
Liam, gosh I just want to hug him and shake him all at the same time! He is hopelessly devoted to Samantha but he feels so unworthy of her that he would rather make them both suffer apart than to just give in to their love. Liam thinks that in being with him Samantha won’t be able to lead the life that she’s dreamed of, she can’t have both and instead of letting her make the choice, he’s making the decision for her.
“She brings out the wild animal in me, the beast that doesn’t care about laws or morality. She’s mine, and I want the world to know it. I want them to smell me on her. They won’t even look her way, once they catch the scent. It’s not fair to her—that I push her away only to drag her back. It’s not fair, but it’s unshakable.”
I loved seeing Samantha have a voice of her own more in Concerto then she did in Overture. Being away from Liam, even for a short period of time was good for her, even though she missed him, it was great seeing her learn to fight her own battles… well at least some of them anyway
The connection between Liam and Samantha *sigh* Liam is a hard ass alpha but he will do anything in his power to protect her, his absolute devotion to Samantha makes him the PERFECT book boyfriend, plus with the memories from his past… you just want to hug him. Oh, did I mention that dirty mouth of his? HOLY HOTNESS!
I am really hoping that Josh gets his own story, maybe with the dancer…? SIGN ME UP!
Skye Warren writes emotional turmoil like nobody’s business and I for one can NOT wait for the grand finale of this trilogy, bring on Sonata! I absolutely recommend!
“When I was twelve years old he saved me, and I have belonged to him ever since…” “Maybe I needed to save him back for him to belong to me, too…”
I think I have fallen in love with Samantha and Liam. This couple struggles with love and affection.
Liam is Samantha’s guardian and has very unguardian like feelings for her. His need to protect her, keep her safe from outside forces stems from his inability to protect his brothers as children. His pain is palpable and devastating.
Samantha loves Liam as a guardian but so much more! This couple was doomed from when Samantha was 12 years old and Liam rescued her. His feeling of obligation in the circumstance created a life that neither of them could escape from.
Skye Warren writes emotionally draining stories which also become uplifting only to once again instill turmoil and strife. Her words touch the reader deeply and create feelings of love, hope, and despair at the same moment her characters grow and morph into themselves.
6 beautifully heartfelt stars!
Skye Warren has delivered another flawless masterpiece; her words washed over me like soft music lightly brushing my soul. The love story that is Liam and Samantha plays like a Concerto with dramatic highs and breathtaking lows. You can’t help but be swept away in the notes of this book.
Going through the journey with Liam and Samantha was heart-wrenching but beautiful all at the same time. Watching Liam desperately try to come to terms with his feelings of guilt and love tugged at my heartstrings. His life has been carved and molded by his past, a past that still tortures him to this day.
Samantha may have been spared much of the pain her childhood could have brought her when she was saved and cared for by Liam, but still she deals with the truths, the reality that threatens her very life. Her love and acceptance for Liam and all that he is it a testament to her true personality. Samantha is a beautiful human instrument who is just learning what strings need to be caressed to reach into Liam’s inner soul so he can be released to love her.
Concerto has an exciting and shocking finish which leaves the reader on the edge of their seat and grasping their book when the final curtain falls. So many more answers to come, mysteries to solve in the final book of this trilogy, Sonata.
After that ending in Overture I have been on pins and needles waiting for the opportunity to read Concerto, the much anticipated follow up to book and let me just say it did not disappoint. Samantha and Liam and their connection had the powerful punch Skye Warren’s book always pack as it left me gasping for air and wanting more in the same breath.
Violin prodigy, Samantha Brooks, has left the sanctity of Liam North’s protection and is now on a world tour, spreading her wings. But when danger is even closer than she thinks, her love and protector, Liam North returns to be by her side. I enjoyed this story and the new characters and developing storyline in the second North security book. The mystery element was so engrossing and I was left needing more of Skye’s amazing words. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula
This book follows Overture and I must say it was even better. Samantha and Liam have an undeniable attraction that adds super heat to the story but the suspense factor of this book sends it soaring. Thank you Skye Warren for taking me out of the reality of my life and letting me live with your characters for a while. I’ll wait patiently for Sonata.
This story continues to keep me ENTHRALLED! Once I started I was sucked right back into the push and pull between Liam and Samantha. I cannot get enough of this forbidden romance. I got to the last page and wished for more.
She had to leave to find herself. To become the woman and the musician she was meant to be. Samantha is living her dream on tour, but her dream separates her from Liam. Liam wants to set her free to live the life she deserves, but he can’t seem to let her go.
This story had twists and turns. It also had drama, suspense and heartbreak! We were introduced to new characters (I hope we get their stories) and learned more about Josh, Liam’s brother. Once I started I just could not put it down until the last page. The writing, the story, the depth of these characters keeps me coming back for more.
The wait will be difficult, but I am ready to read the conclusion to Liam and Samantha’s story in Sonata.
Samantha and Liam’s story started in Overture and continues in Concerto by Skye Warren. These books must be read in order and I cannot wait to see how it all ends! Liam and Samantha share a passion and chemistry that is strong and undeniable. But Samantha needs to follow her dreams now and though it hurts to leave Liam, she is ready. Liam would do anything for Samantha but keeps her as close as he can for her safety.
I absolutely loved Liam. He was a complex man, but when it came to Samantha, he would do anything for her. He was strong and determined. This time around, we got to see Samantha grow in so many ways. The once sheltered girl, is finding her place in the world. But with Samantha in danger, Liam will stop at nothing to protect her. Concerto by Skye Warren was emotional, suspenseful and full of chemistry and I could not stop reading.
4.5-stars. Read and reviewed for Reviews From the Heart.
Happy reading.
Another seat gripping read by Skye Warren. Concerto is the 2nd installment of North Security so be sure to have Overture before starting this.
In Overture we fell in love with Liam and Samantha and their tale of forbidden love.
Concerto is just wow!!! Their journey continues with all the highs and lows of the music that you will feel flowing through your veins. This book is a sexy story full suspense, that will not only pull at your hearts strings, it will turn your heart to mush… Ahhh 5 spectacular stars for this one..
This is book #2 in the North Security Trilogy. You do have to read Overture (Book #1) to understand what is going on in Concerto. This book picks up where Overture left off. There is no shortage of angst, steam, action, intrigue, secrets, lies, heartbreak, and adventure here! I loved every minute from start to finish!!! Especially the ending! OMG!!! My mouth was left hanging open!
I won’t say too much because this book is so worth reading, and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. Suffice to say that this is Skye Warren gold! All I will say is that Skye’s words conjure up such vivid imagery. It makes me feel as if I am a part of the story, living the characters’ lives, like I am physically there feeling all of the emotions. The scenes are so clear in my mind. I am in awe. It truly takes talent to bring forth the emotions, and she does it beautifully. The plot is addicting and the characters are wonderful. The chemistry and push and pull between Liam and Samantha is scorching hot! I also love the little factoids she puts at the beginning of each chapter. I highly recommend reading it. I am anxiously awaiting Sonata to complete this trilogy!

I’d give Concerto a solid 4.5 Star Rating!
Well Good Lord, what’s a reader suppose to do with all these amazing stories released lately? Samantha and Liam are a compulsive story! Reading Concerto had my heart racing… I was quickly flipping from page to page pouring through Sam and Liam’s story. Warren is s masterful writer! She has the ability to turn her characters to real boys and girls… I was ensnared in this book. There’s just no other way to say it. Concerto held me Captive the entire day it took me to read all the words!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Concerto by Skye Warren is book Two in the North Security Series. This continues the story of Liam North and Samantha Brooks, so you really should read the first book ‘Overture’ to fully enjoy their story. This book picks up where we were left in the first book with Samantha leaving the security setting she was in to go on tour. Liam is still dealing with his feelings for Samantha along with wanting to keep her safe during her tour since danger to her is closer than ever.
Liam is a great book boyfriend and although Samantha was young she is a stronger character, even the secondary characters where great. Loved this book and Ms. Warren’s writing.
Samantha leaves Liam, to go on tour. Samantha has to prepare for her concert with a group of strangers the readers. She find out her father is still alive and he want to kill her.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Skye Warren is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Overall Rating:
Do you ever read a romance book or books and wonder if there is something seriously wrong with you because you love the darkness and angst of said book? I oftentimes think there is something a little bit broken in me because the angstier (yes, not really a word…but so), the happier I become. I think it has to do with the precision by which a writer must write to achieve that level of feeling in his/her reader. I mean this with no disrespect, but I think it is harder to write angst than rom-com. That’s just my belief, and I won’t judge anyone who will disagree with me.
Concerto by Skye Warren is the type of book (like her other stories from Tanglewood) that delivers on the soul-wrecking, delicious angst that readers like me pine for. This is the second book in the North Security series, and it continues to follow Samantha and Liam. In Overture, Samantha and Liam embrace their forbidden feelings and consummate their lust for each other. At the end of Overture, Samantha has left to go on tour, but, more importantly, to find her independence from Liam, after he has pushed her away for her own protection. In Concerto, Samantha is recently arrived in Tanglewood for the start of the concert tour, and she is adapting to life independent from Liam. However, every day is a struggle without him. Shortly after arriving in town, there is a threat to her security, and Liam arrives to protect her from the threat. As they struggle with their lust and feelings for each other, each pushes the other away at various times, creating so much delicious tension that the reader is compelled to read to see its resolution.
This you will not find wholly in Concerto, however. If you are looking for the end-of-book HEA in Concerto, it isn’t here. Instead, we are left with a huge, life-changing cliffhanger for Samantha and indirectly for Liam. I believe the next book, Sonata, ends the trilogy, and hopefully, it leads us to a HEA for Liam and Samantha because these two are, by definition, tortured.
Obviously, Samantha’s torture cannot compare to the tortured mind of Liam. In fact, there are so many times when I want to yell at the man to get a therapist. Call me insensitive, but the depths of his guilt create the thick, high wall between him and Samantha. While she is junior to his senior, she surprisingly carries an emotional depth that will save Liam from his “wells.” However, as the reader, we have to endure the depth of these wells to get tidbits of connection and love.
What I love about this book so much, besides the angsty moments between Liam and Samantha, is Warren’s brilliance in telling Liam and Samantha’s stories. For one, the titles of these books are intentional to understanding the general premise of each book. A concerto in musical terms often “highlights a solo instrument against the background of a full orchestra. […] In a concerto, a piano, violin, flute, or other instrument plays solo parts that are backed up or highlighted by an orchestra” (vocabulary.com). This obviously connects with Samantha’s entree into the independent life. While she is seemingly in “solo,” she is surrounded by a group (Liam, Josh, Bethany, Harry, her father, etc.) who add different levels of support (or hindrance) to her solo life. Her life becomes the actual concerto.
Additionally, the image of wells in the story illustrates how Liam’s past still informs his present (and possibly his future). He can never escape the literal well from his youth because he believes, in loving Samantha, she becomes his figurative well. While he seemingly loves her, the well continues to dirty him, and by extension, he will sully Samantha. So…he engages in a fraught relationship with her, one where he at once needs her and repels her. This image is powerful and completely realized in Liam’s mind in association with Samantha. So so brilliant on Warren’s part.
Finally, Warren’s way in creating this story (along with her other books) shows her ability to keep her reader guessing. There is a BIG revelation near the end of this story that breaks open possibility for the next book. I would love to say more, but I don’t want to spoil it. The genius behind this revelation turns this book from a forbidden, darker romance into one that seems more romantic suspense. There is more to Samantha than originally thought, and I imagine it will be an explosive realization in Sonata.
There is something so delicious about an author like Skye Warren when you realize her ability to craft tortured souls into a romance that keeps you guessing is nothing short of genius. She holds the reader accountable to supposition about a story by offering them twists and turns at every page. As her reader, you can never be quite sure that all is as it seems, and her newest book, Concerto, is no different in this sense. When I ended this book, I was left hungry for more of Liam and Samantha’s story. In fact, I flew through the pages of this book. Thankfully, we get it in Sonata, but if I’ve read enough Warren books to know, there will be HEA, but it will still have a bit of a melancholy to it, angst in all of its realized glory.
I simply cannot wait for the final book in this trilogy.
4.5 stars!! Why does this author keep destroying me at the end of the book?!!! Ahhhhh!! I need the next book like right now!!
This is book two in the “North Security” series and can not be read as a stand alone.
Ok so we left off book one with Liam off doing his own thing. Samantha off to begin her life. And I was like wtf is going on. And we find out there is still a major threat in their lives. I was left in chaos!
This is a beautiful book and the secrets/twists are amazing. I love Liam with everything. My heart aches for him as well, same as I do for Samantha. Can I also add I feel wrong for wanting these two together. I mean I’m ok with them being together now but Liam said some shit that made me feel like maybe I wasn’t ok with it. Anyway, these two together sexy as shit!
Can we talk about Josh? I need to know more about him ASAP. He is ruthless and sexy. Yes please!! I sure hope he gets a book!
This book was not a sweet little romance. It really felt more of an obsession on both parts but super freaking hot. I enjoyed every single word in this book!
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
The author brings us the follow up book to Overture. After the way we left Samantha and Liam I couldn’t wait to see where Skye would take this story. Buckle up readers because this one has more suspense, mystery and passion.
Liam is still the dominant man I loved from book one and if anything he’s taken it up a notch. He’s bossy and rude but he’s a man with a very big weakness. Samantha as cliche as it sounds is put on her own and finding who she is aware from Liam.
Love the way the author weaves the suspense effortlessly with the love story. This is a story that kept me reading. I had to know what was going to happen next. With every new revelation I became more obsessed especially when some major secrets are revealed. Now I need book three ASAP.
Well Holy Hotness, Skye Warren has done it again! Concerto is the second instalment of 3, following on from the magnificent Overture.
Concerto is everything I love in romantic suspense, adding layer after layer of incredible plot, picking up from Overture. So much pain and angst, violence and tenderness, regret and hate and through it all, so much love. All of the characters are beautifully written and I was so compelled by them, that I just wanted to crawl right into their fictional world with them.
This world collides with so many other characters and stories that Skye has artfully created so it felt a little like coming home with the main story being set in Tanglewood. Amazing!
Concerto ended at a truly pivotal point and I literally cannot wait for the conclusion to Liam and Samantha’s journey in Sonata. A brilliantly beautiful read!
The show must go on. Samantha, a violin child prodigy leaves Liam to on on her tour, except that she is no longer a child. This was always her dream. Concerto picks up where Overture ends. Liam tried to stay away from Samantha. We are introduced to new characters. People are not what they seem. Samantha and Liam’s relationship continues to be full of angst and doubts. The book is suspenseful and emotional and it does end in a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for the next book.
