Conan is the first book in the Black Shamrocks MC series. A full-length novel that’s set in the 80s and tells the story of the first generation of sons born to the original members of the Black Shamrocks MC. Containing content that some readers may find confronting, Conan is a dark and gritty MC read that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
PLEASE NOTE: this book was originally published in 2017 under the series name: Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation. It has been revised, re-edited, and republished in 2021, although the main gist of the story remains the same.

I am so glad I got to take a ride with Conan and Colleen, it was nice to get their backstory. Their connection was instant, their chemistry was fantastic, but they had so many bumps in the road, and this is only the beginning of their young love. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Conan was the first book in the Black Shamrocks First Generation series by Kylie Hillman. It was my first book by the author.
Cole was a legacy prospect within the Black Shamrocks MC. His father was the Sergeant At Arms but even a legacy had to prove himself and be voted in unanimously. He had been a prospect for a year and was hoping to be patched in any day. Then he met her.
Coleen had a great life until her parents were killed in an auto accident. From that point on, her life evolved around protecting her little sister until Coleen turned eighteen.
Hillman set the stage not only for the book, but for the series through showing us Cole and his best friends, three other legacy prospects. Hillman then took us through a storyline involving an MC conflict that introduced Coleen.
I enjoyed both Cole and Coleen as well as the storyline; however, I wanted more depth into the MC conflict. Hopefully we’ll see more development throughout the series. Otherwise, it was well written, entertaining and had me turning the pages non stop to keep up. Vic aka Viking is up next and I can’t wait!
Conan was a great book by Kylie Hillman! I loved the characters. And the storyline was a fast paced, quick read. It was a little light for me for an MC book and I would have loved for it to have gone deeper in to Cole and Colleen’s relationship. But, overall, it is an awesome start to this new series and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Wow, what a ride! Conan by Kylie Hillman is the first book in her new Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation series. The next books in the series are Viking and Butch.
Colin – Conan – Blake grew up in the MC lifestyle. He meets Colleen McCormack, a 17 year old girl who was traded in for a debt. She’s property of the MC and works as waitress.
It takes Conan one look at her and he’s goner. He needs to rescue her, at all costs.
The storyline is set in Australia and a prequel to the Black Shamrock MC series. The book deals with sensitive subject that may cause triggers.
I was really torn on this story and series in general. I liked the relationship between Colleen and Cole, especially with him recognizing the situation that Colleen is in after the death of her parents, and how she does anything to protect her younger sister from what their lives have turned into. I enjoyed that the character of Cole was willing to go back on his family and his brotherhood in order to protect her. I felt that there was something going on within the MC along the lines of ulterior motives, but overall the love between Cole and Colleen prevail and they are able to be together without Colleen’s uncle or the MC driving a wedge between them. I was pretty neutral about the story, but definitely want to read on in the next story to see what happens next.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Oh man, this was my first book by this author, and I have to say I enjoyed it so much.
This is really my type of MC Book… Everything about this book was so good. Raw, gritty, alpha males, everything you would want in a hardcore MC book.
Conan oh my word, what a freaking sweetie… Well until you got on the wrong side of him. Then you will the alpha possessive biker show up.
Colleen, sweet, vulnerable but the strength she had will surprise you. And just because she was young, doesn’t mean she didn’t know what she wanted, and didn’t mean she wasn’t ready to fight for what she wanted.
A story that will have you captivated from the start to the finish. Lots of angst, twists, turns, intrigue, danger, crying and funny moments and mixed in with some really dark moments. I can’t wait for the next one!
I wish I had known it was part of a series.
It was good reading
Started reading but couldn’t get into it to finish.
Awesome read
This was real life for me. The characters were so real you actually felt for them. It was a good book to read and I will read other in the series but overall this isn’t a awe happy ever after. It is real and gritty .
AWESOME!!!
Kylie Hillman does it again. In book one of Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation, we discover our favorite bad boys of the MC in their younger days. Kylie brings these characters to life. Absolutely amazing beginning to this new series. I can’t wait to read Viking’s story.
I seriously need to catch up on reading ALL the Black Shamrock books if they are as amazing as this story.
Colleen is not quite 18 in the story and she reacted appropriately for her age but also had a feeling of quiet strength and maturity about her (not surprising given the tragedy of her family situation). The plot and the characters all felt so real . I cried for and with Colleen, wanted to hug and kiss Cole (especially when he was looking out for Colleen) and hated her uncle. There wasn’t any sugar-coating and the Shari ‘outcome’ reflected this core honesty.
You can’t help but fall in love with both main characters, Colleen is so brave and her circumstances will break your heart. Cole is, (sort of) in his own words, a giant teddy bear with a volcano of a temper hidden inside. Their story will make you laugh, cry and swoon …. and if you’re anything like me it will leave you wanting so much more.
The writing is excellent, the plot had some unexpected twists and held me gripped from start to finish. In fact my only complaint was that it finished far too soon for my liking, I would happily read more and more of Colleen and Cole, hours more. That’s not to suggest that the book felt unfinished or that the story was weak, quite the opposite in fact. It was nicely wrapped up, with no loose threads left hanging but I was loving their story so much I just didn’t want the book to end.
I’m now off to read more work by this author!
