Megan Ryan has written a 5-star book about 3 friends Hailey, Adam, and Chase. Chase and Adam are both bull riders, Adam is married to Hailey and they have a son, but Adam is never home due to being on the road with the Bull Riding circuit. One night Hailey gets a call to tell her that Adam had had an accident and he had died. Now Hailey has to raise her son on her own. She moves back home to help her mom out after her stroke. Now Hailey is looking for a job and finds one for the Redemption Ranch as a CPA. Chase is back home on the ranch recuperating from being thrown from a bull and getting hurt. Chase had always had a thing for Hailey but did nothing about it because of his bull riding. As they spend more time together their feelings grow stronger for each other. Hailey enters into a relationship with Chase even knowing he will go back to bull riding and be gone most of the time. Everything is going fine for them until Chase tells her he is going back to bull riding, she tells him she can’t go through that again and broke things off with him.
Will Chase realize that what he has been searching for, he has already found on the ranch or will he stay with the bull riders circuit?
Can Hailey let Chase go and move forward to find her HEA or will she be alone?
This book was a wonderful read and I would recommend this book to anyone.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Coming Home to the Cowboy by Megan Ryder. What a great contemporary western romance, with a nice twist to usual plot. This is a new author for me, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this story. Good story-line, plenty of drama, and of course a HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Chase has come home from the rodeo circuit to recover from a nasty throw from a bull. Once he can get around, he helps with training the horses. Hailey comes to work at the ranch to help get the business of the new dude ranch on its feet. She also happens to be the wife of his best friend that followed him onto the rodeo circuit and died at the feet of a bull. He feels guilty. There has always been an attraction between them and it’s good to see how they dance around it with each other until they decide to give in to it. She has a son and her son gets very attached to Chase. This book also shows that communication is key in any relationship.

I am so glad Chase’s story was next as I really wanted to know more about him and geeze he really does hold his emotions in so no wonder he is a bit of a tortured sole. Hailey is back in town after leaving years ago, she is now a widow and single mother to AJ needing work so she can get out from under her parents roof. Fate, serendipity, destiny what ever you want to call it but now Chase and Hailey are in the same place and it is time they face his best friend and her husband Adams death as well as how they feel about each other. This is definitely going to tug at the heart strings especially with the raw emotions that both Chase and Hailey go through, along with their insecurities and need you have for them to see they are worth loving and belong together.
When I started the second book in the Redemption Ranch series I was wondering if it could beat the first book? I was pleasantly surprised that Chase, Hailey and young AJ story was even better. If you have not read the first book, A Cowboy’s Salvation never fear you will be fine reading this as a stand alone. BUT might I suggest reading the first book in this series as well. It will not only help you understand the three brother’s history as foster boys and how they came to live at the Ranch but also its a wonderful book. Now let me tell you a wee bit about Coming Home to the Cowboy. Chase is a bull rider who pushes thru it all so he can win the top money and help his family back at the Ranch. If you know the rodeo, you know riding bulls is the top purse and it is also the most dangerous too. Chase get hurt…badly and has to go home to Redemption Ranch. Meanwhile Hailey and her young son AJ move back to town to help with her sick mom. AJ or Adam JR is Adam was Chase’s Best friend and rodeo buddy and Chase made a promise to his best friend before his death that well is kinda hard to keep. This a wonderful second chance romance that not just about love but about family. Family born of blood and those families made from heart bounds like our three brothers West, Chase and Ty. This book will pull at your heart and keep you reading it from cover to cover.
An angsty emotional story. I was hooked from the beginning, perched on the edge of my seat to see what would happen between these characters. With Coming Home to the Cowboy, Meagan Ryder is at her best, creating an intensely emotional ride you won’t want to get off!! A must read of 2019. Happy reading!!
COMING HOME TO THE COWBOY (Redemption Ranch Book 2) by Megan Ryder is a new cowboy contemporary second chance romance. The story is written by a new to me author that satisfied me with everything I look for in a genre romance. This is the second book in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone and I will definitely be going back to read book 1.
Hailey Spencer returns to her hometown to help her mother after a stroke. It is a chance for her young son, AJ to spend time with his grandparents. She is also looking for a job so that she can stay in the area, when an old high school friend introduces her one of the owners of Redemption Ranch. She accepts the position as business manager and is excited to start, but she also is worried about running into her dead husband’s best friend, Chase.
Chase Summers is a champion bull-rider. After a terrible accident on his last ride, he has returned home to recuperate. He is grateful his foster dad brought him to the ranch and saved him from the foster care system. Since high school, he has spent his time on the rodeo circuit riding bulls and sending part of his winnings home to help the ranch succeed. He is a fun-loving, cocky cowboy who never lets anyone get too close.
Hailey and AJ move onto the ranch and under the same roof as Chase. Hailey has old hidden feelings for Chase even though she married his best friend and Chase has always had a secret crush on Hailey, but he also feels guilty for Hailey’s husband’s death. As Hailey and Chase’s attraction grows so does AJ’s attachment to Chase. Can Hailey and Chase overcome their pasts or will the rodeo win once again?
I felt so much as I read this romance! Ms. Ryder has written a beautiful story that is heart-breaking, heart-warming and everything in between. Family, hope and love are all interwoven into this story which draws you in and refuses to let you go until the last page. Hailey, Chase and AJ are realistically written characters that I felt could walk right off the page and I will be excited to meet them again in future books in this series.
I highly recommend this cowboy contemporary romance and I am looking forward to reading all of the books in the Redemption Ranch series!
I was given an Arc in exchange for an honest review of this book. This is the second book in the Redemption Ranch series. I did not read the first book but the author did a great job so I never felt lost. This book is the story of Chase and Hailey, Chase had been a foster kid who was adopted along with two other boys, West and Ty by Douglas Rawlings. When Douglas died, the 3 along with his daughter Tara inherited the ranch jointly. Chase is a champion bull rider who goes from rodeo to rodeo to win the pot to give to his family to help keep the ranch afloat. West and Tara are engaged and trying to start up a guest ranch. At the start of the book, Chase is badly injured in his last rodeo and his family brings him home to Redemption Ranch to recover. Hailey has recently returned to Granite Junction to help her parents after her mom had a mini stroke. She is a widow as her huSband Adam, Chase’s best friend, was killed a couple of years ago in a bull riding accident. Her left her and their son. Chase, Adam and Hailey had been inseparable growing up. We learn that Hailey always felt some chemistry with Chase but didn’t act on it as she loved Adam too.
Hailey pursues a job lead as a business manager and ends up interviewing to assist Tara at Redemption Ranch. She is offered the job, along with a place to live and she accepts. She runs into Chase, thinking he was out on the circuit as she hadn’t heard about his devastating accident. He is also living in the same house. Her son AJ takes to Chase who has sworn to never have kids or marry. Hailey and Chase rekindle the chemistry of long ago. She is looking for someone to build a family with who will stay.
Chase plans to head back to the circuit as soon as he is able. He feels it is the only way he can contribute and help his family pay the bills. He also is trying to avoid having AJ or Hailey get any more attached to him. He feels he is no good at being a family man based on his past of moving from home to home. He also feels like he is being disloyal to Adam. His brothers and Tara also don’t want him to go back as they are afraid he could be killed by a bull in the ring. They also see how good he is with the horses and want him to stay and work with them as his contribution.
I enjoyed the interactions between Chase and his brothers and Tara. I also liked seeing him build a relationship with Hailey and AJ. The end was very enjoyable too. I gave it 5 stars.
The nicely written storyline and the well detailed characters lured me right in from the very beginning! I was so engrossed in Hailey and Chase’s story that I read this book in one sitting!
Coming Home to the Cowboy by Megan Ryder is the second book in the Redemption Ranch Series. Chase Summers was a great supporting character in the first book, so I was glad to see him receive his own story. Another foster child who found a home at Redemption Ranch he is now a bull rider. A successful champion one. However, he still has that young boy feeling of inadequacy that he hides from the world. It would take a ray of sunshine like Hailey Spencer and her son to help him to see himself differently.
A romance and love story for sure but also one that reminds the reader of the need for acceptance and love that we all have. The fact that this was not a secret love child story was a huge plus for me. The characters were engaging and meant well even when they were just plain wrong for some of their misguided efforts. A wonderful series with Coming Home for the Cowboy being a wonderful addition.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a wonderful very emotional story. Two people with much pain and inner turmoil strive to reach a HEA. The characters are very believable and the child delightful.
I really liked Coming Home to the Cowboy. Book #2 in the Redemption Ranch series features Chase Summers an irresistible Cowboy Bull Rider. I really liked his character and almost cried at the end with his interaction with little A.J. Hailey’s son. The story was good and the ending was heartwarming. looking forward to reading book #3.
I give Coming Home to the Cowboy 4 stars for its good read.
I would recommend this book to Romance Fans.
Hailey was obsessive with her cray cray helicoptering of A J, and it was off putting to me! She was beyond defensive with Chase, and acted like a nazi general. She was the biggest contradiction of herself and her rules! She changes with the breeze- ambivalent and unstable! She snoops in his room then has the gall to lecture him to be neater! WTH, nosy girl!!! She acted like a tease constantly- mixed signals! I didn’t like how Hailey jumped to conclusions after AJ fell. Shrew much!!?? I hated all the “well meaning” nosy people giving Chase advice he didn’t need or ask for. Then, they try guilting him with the need for money for the ranch or guilt him to stay and work the ranch. He was a target for all unsolicited advice from everybody!! I felt Chase was persecuted by family, friends, and significant others most of the story. Everyone tried to push their opinion on him like he was a child without a mind and heart of his own !
Sorry. but they were all @$$hats, except Chase. He knew the job and the risks.
Loved this story of Chase and Hailey. Chase lived at Redemption Ranch with his foster father while growing up and has now returned recovering from a rodeo incident. Chase has never felt like he could have his forever love, better to love them and leave them. Hailey has returned with her little boy, as a single mom after her husband dies in a rodeo accident. Her husband was Chase’s best friend and Chase should not have feelings for her. Can they both find their HEA,
Loved these characters, Chase was finally able to open his heart to Hailey and her son, AJ. Hailey was so worried , she didn’t want to see AJ’s heart broken again. This is a story of family, hope and finding love again.
This is the second story in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I had a hard time putting this book down.
This is book 2 of the Redemption Ranch series and I was given ARC in return for my honest review.
Loved both of the first two books and can’t wait for the third.
The owner of the ranch has taken in three boys who are in the foster system and maybe a little trouble to, he’s so good to the boys they lucked out to be put with him and end up as close as real brothers and this all pulls at the heart strings.
Hailey and Chase’s love story doesn’t seem it has a chance for a HEA, with so much angst and Chase always feeling the tug to compete in Rodeo, always needing the money he can win to keep the ranch in the black.
Hailey’s little boy A.J. is totally boy and kid and he stole my heart and I bet he will yours to.
An incredible tale that pulls at all the heartstrings! It even touched my soul. This is one of those stories that you’ll laugh and cry right along with the characters. Chase needed to overcome the hurt of his past, and Hailey the pain caused by him. The development of the characters in this book is superb. Nothing better than the love of a cowboy. Very satisfying story and can hardly wait to read more books by this author.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher in exchange for my volunteer review.
This pair absolutely broke my heart. They didn’t take me to quite the same place of deep angst as Tara and West, and for that I’m a little grateful. Chase has never found a place where he “sticks”. A lifetime in the foster system being bounced from placement to placement meant he never really had someplace to call home. Until Redemption Ranch. The still-looming threat of their unpaid bills has Chase doing everything in his power to earn money to make sure they keep the ranch. Hailey lost her husband – Chase’s best friend – to the rodeo. The pair have always had a connection and now she’s worried that history will repeat itself. But hers isn’t the only heart involved anymore, there’s her six-year-old son who’s already lost one father to consider too. It bears repeating: Chase and Hailey broke my heart. They feel so much for one another that it resonates off the page. But they’re both fighting so hard against all those emotions. I was so worried that they’d wouldn’t find their way through all the baggage keeping them apart to find their forever. I know I’ve only just finished reading this book, but already I’m dying to know what’s next.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Buoni Amici Press.
I enjoyed revisiting Redemption Ranch.
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Part of a series: Redemption Ranch
Standalone
HEA
Epilogue
I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC.
Chase is a product of a hellish childhood, and he feels that he has to contribute financially to Redemption Ranch in order to be “worthy.” After a devastating bull-riding injury, though, he’s forced to take a break, and he comes back to the ranch to do that. What he doesn’t know is that they’ve recently hired Hailey, his best friend’s widow and a woman for whom Chase has always had affection, if not more. Hailey doesn’t feel ready for a relationship, much less with another bull rider, and Chase has walls so high they’d need a drone to get over. Hailey’s son AJ is there too and his growing attachment to Chase, as Hailey and Chase explore their attraction, worries Hailey. Chase is insistent that he needs to keep riding to bring in money – and it’s a choice that could cost him everything. Chase is a very appealing character; his behaviour with the horses, with AJ, and his loyalty to his foster parents all add up to a multidimensional character that is really well drawn.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When a child is bounced around from one foster home to another, they learn not to get attached. If they do, they know it will just get taken away from them. Chase had learned that lesson well but Douglas Rawlings snuck in under his guard. The ranch was the only place he considered home. Bull riding is the only thing that Chase thought he was good for so when they needed money to keep the ranch running after Douglas passed away, that’s what Chase did. Until the last bull. Now he’s on the ranch trying to heal so he could get back to it but everyone is trying to convince him to give it up.
Hailey was a single widow trying to raise her young son., AJ. Her husband Adam was on the bull riding tour & was Chase’s best friend before his ride when bad. When he didn’t survive, she was left alone. Now, she’s accepted the job as business manager for Redemption Ranch. The job is perfect for her & comes with housing for her & AJ. There’s only one thing wrong. Chase is staying there while he recuperates. As they spend time together, the chemistry between them grows & AJ begins to get attached to him. Hailey can’t go through losing another man in her life & Chase won’t consider quitting. Where does this leave them?
Ms. Ryder does an excellent job crafting characters that engage your emotions, especially your sympathies. Chase’s childhood was terrible & he really didn’t trust anyone for a long time. He also felt responsible for Adam’s death since he’d followed Chase on the circuit. Hailey’s concern is for AJ & the attachment he is forming with Chase. She doesn’t want him to feel that loss again. I really enjoyed the journey that they went on to find their happily ever after. They both had their ups & downs & disappointments. This was a great follow up to Tara & West. I can’t wait for Ty’s story!
