The town bad boy with hidden pain… his time on the rodeo circuit, sending home his winnings to help the ranch succeed, and his nights with buckle bunnies, making sure no one gets close enough to touch the pain deep inside.
The town good girl who saw the good in everyone…
When accountant and small business advisor Hailey Spencer is hired by Redemption Ranch to implement their dude ranch ideas, she and Chase are thrown together. It’s not long before he is introduced to the son that she had with his best friend. The best friend who would’ve followed Chase anywhere…even the bull riding circuit with its deadly potential. With Hailey hanging on to resentment and Chase racked with guilt, the two try to fight their age-old attraction – in vain. Chase knows Hailey deserves more than a broken-down cowboy for her son and her heart.
Can Chase resist the call of the rodeo and man up for a woman he’s loved for years or will he leave for the allure of the road?

Hailey and Chase’s love story in Coming Home to the Cowboy by Megan Ryder, book two in her Redemption Ranch series, reminds us that families can be created by those not related by blood. Chase was a foster child with a troubled life, until he found a family while living on Redemption Ranch with his foster dad. Now he spends time on the rodeo circuit, sending home his winnings to help the ranch succeed. Chase is still a loner and keeps people, especially women, from getting too close. Hailey is an accountant and hired by Redemption Ranch to prepare and ready the ranch for all the changes being made. Hailey married Chase’s best friend but is now a widow with a young son. These two try to fight their attraction, but it is in vain as they sizzle with off the chart electricity. Hailey, along with his foster brothers, fear that if Chase returns to the rodeo circuit he could badly injure himself if not end up dead. Chase struggles to resist returning to the rodeo circuit as the prize is within his grasp. He also recognizes that Hailey deserves a better man but he’s not sure he can give her up. Chase will have to chose between the rodeo and the woman he loves.
Ms. Ryder wrote a wonderful and sexy story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Hailey and Chase a chance to have a forever love and be a family. I highly recommend Coming Home to the Cowboy to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Loved the storyline about the bull riding career and the mention of Buckle bunnies that was funny, and Chase growing up in the foster care system and how he has a permanent home with his siblings and his mentor / foster dad Doug Rawlins. Will definitely recommend this one to my friends.
I really enjoyed Chase & Hailey book! I’m glad to have more of the boys at Redemption Ranch & the family they’re creating.
I love Redemption Ranch so much!!!
I was so curious about Chase in the first book. Why is always on the road, why does he seem to avoid home, who is going to be the woman to make him put down roots? Everything about Chase’s story made my heart ache and want to wrap him up in a hug. I can’t think of a woman more perfect for him than Hailey. I wanted to wrap her up in all the hugs too. She’s been through so much by the time she takes on the job at Redemption Ranch that I wanted to cry for her.
I loved Chase and Hailey’s story. Their friendship from their teen years and the growth they experience as they get to know each other again as adults was beautiful. I was rooting for them from the very beginning. I love this family and I can’t wait to return to Redemption Ranch.
Though this is book 2 of the series, rest assure, that if like me you haven’t read book 1, it’s a stand alone.
Redemption Ranch was the place where three foster boys were given a new life and purpose by their foster dad.
Now as adults, they, in addition to the daughter of the man who raised them, are owners of Redemption Ranch.
Chase Summers is one of the “boys”. He is a champion bull-rider who comes home to recover after an almost fatal accident, and encounters Hailey Spencer. The gal that he had feelings for, but she married his best friend. Now a widow with a boy, she too is back home.
It’s a story about how our childhood affects us as adults. It’s also a story about family, hope, finding a purpose in life , taking chances and allowing oneself to love and be loved.
A touching story that at times is heartbreaking as well as heartwarming. One worth your time.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Captivating, heartwarming from the ‘Redemption Ranch’ series romance story. Enjoyable well-developed characters. The well-written book kept my attention, I enjoyed reading. I have voluntarily chosen to read and review this book.
Bull riders are a special breed in the rodeo world. Many call them crazy for wanting to sit on the back of an animal who weighs on average 1,500 pounds. An animal who has very sharp horns and is bred to want to buck, twist and throw off anything placed on its back.
Bull riders only have to stay on the back of these very talented animals for 8 seconds. But oh what a ride they have trying to make it to those 8 seconds. And their injury rate for bull riders tends to be a bit higher than the average rodeo cowboy’s. Chase Summers is never reckless but he managed to tangle with a bull who decided Chase wasn’t going to win this round.
Chase is one of the three boys who were adopted and given a second chance when he was in his teens by a foster father who believed in second chances. Chase is wanting to win the big purses to help cover the expenses of the ranch after he and his foster brothers inherit the ranch. But after the tangle with the bull, Chase needs time to heal and his brothers try to find ways to keep him on the ranch.
Hailey Spencer has moved back to town to help her mom and to try to let her 6 year old son grow up in the country. She takes a job at Redemption Ranch using her skills as an accountant and in business development which includes housing on the ranch.
Hailey’s husband was a bull rider and lost his life after not winning the battle with a bull. So she is very leery about being near Chase. She and Chase grew up together along with Adam, her husband.
Can Hailey let go of her hang ups and let herself love Chase? Can Chase stop running and stay home?
Megan Ryder always writes fantastic novels with well developed characters and wonderful backgrounds. This book is worth a read.
I did receive a copy of the book in advance from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
This book is like the first in the series, I have to say I have really enjoyed reading about how family is what you make of it and that’s what Chase, West, and Ty are doing with the help of Tara and now Hailey. I liked how once again the author took and strong hard headed women who will fight for she wants and will stop at nothing to protect her son. I however was not a fan of Chase in this book, I found him to come off as whinny a lot. He did eventually grow on me but to me he was more a grouchy old man feeling the the Hot smoking cowboy the author was trying to portray. There is a good about of curse words and sex in this book so it may not be suitable for all. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.”
This is the first book I’ve read by Megan Ryder and after finishing I can’t wait to read more. I definitely want to go back and read Tara and West’s story, as they play an integral part in Chase and Hailey’s world. The author gives enough backstory that this book can be read as a standalone, but now I want more of these characters. Ms. Ryder does an excellent job developing her characters and building layers for the reader to pull back to expose those deep seated pains that burden the couple. This book ticked all my boxes: sexy cowboy, single mom, adorable small child, broken pasts, friends to lovers, missed chances, close ties with family (even if they aren’t blood), chemistry, and love.
Chase and his “brothers” were bounced around the foster care system until Mr. Douglas took them in. While the other men want home and family, Chase wants adventure and rodeo, or so he tells his family and himself. Of the three, Chase seemed most affected by the foster care system, always waiting for the other shoe to drop and losing yet another home. Having to come home after a near fatal bullriding accident, he comes face-to-face with single mom Hailey, his best friend’s widow.
Hailey’s return to her home town due to her mother’s illness isn’t all warm family dinners and hugs. Her father never fails to remind her she is a failure with poor choice in men, choosing a bull rider as her husband. When she takes a job at Redemption Ranch to help Tara set up the guest ranch, she is thrown back into the orbit of Chase. While Chase, Hailey, and Adam grew up together, there was always a pull between Chase and Hailey, though they both denied their feelings and she married Adam.
Once they are sharing the same house while he recuperates, chemistry and tempers fly. While Chase is certain he’ll never settle down and he isn’t good enough for anyone, every time he turns around he proves what a good man he is. His interactions with AJ, Hailey’s son are sweet, heartfelt, and swoon worthy. The banter between not only the couple but the secondary characters is great. I love that Tara and Emma took in Hailey as a friend immediately.
There’s lots of emotions in this book: guilt, anger, fear, longing, and love. It’s obvious Chase’s brothers and Tara love him and want the best for him, but they give him the nudge he needs to figure out what that is. While Hailey seems mild mannered, Chase is smart enough to let her fight her own battles when she needs to. Both the hero and heroine are broken but Ms. Ryder superbly puts them back together, and after a meandering journey gives them a worthy HEA. I will definitely be on the look out for more books in this series and by this author.
This is such a sweet, lovely story. It is filled with longing and desire just waiting to surface.
