All Doms expect submission. This Master demands more… position as a staff slave—owned by all—she accepts. Getting her needs met without the expectations of a relationship seems like the perfect solution.
Though Ethan enjoys his job as a trainer at a private BDSM club in Miami, he’s itching for a change. When he’s asked to start up some new training programs for The Compound, an ultra-exclusive facility in New York, he jumps at the chance.
Drawn to the strong, quiet submissive assigned to serve as his assistant, he thrills at putting her through her paces within the confines of his course. When an acquaintance lures Talia into a dangerous situation, it’s up to Ethan to rescue her, not only from that man’s clutches, but from her own fears… And if Ethan has to conquer a few of his own along the way…so be it.
Coming Home is Book 3 of The Compound Trilogy. While this is a stand-alone novel, your experience will be enhanced if you read the books in order.

Another wonderful addition to the author’s The Compound series.
As always with the author’s Compound books, the reader is treated to erotic BDSM scenes & interactions ranging from luscious thuddy floggings to wax play & on to edgier& more nerve wracking scenes. All these erotic delights are perfectly sprinkled (IMO) throughout the story as wonderful enticements to spice up a lovely tale of 2 people finding each other.
I love how the author is able to take the reader along a journey of growth and/or enlightenment with the main characters. In this story, Talia (h), an erotic masochistic submissive & Master Ethan (H), a Master temporarily at The Compound to implement his training program.
Talia is a young widow, her beloved husband & Master, Tom, was killed in action in the Middle East. Bereft & feeling completely unanchored, wanting to remain emotionally detached since his death, Talia finds her way to The Compound where she seems to perfectly finish their slave training to the point she is offered a position there as a staff slave. And this suits Talia perfectly: sheltered within The Compound with those sharing a BDSM lifestyle, but not owned by any one Master. She is a slave to any & all of the Masters allowing her to keep her heart & emotions sealed up ensuring they aren’t given to any other than her deceased husband & Master Tom. But Talia has never reached ‘subspace’, she doesn’t ’embrace’ the erotic pain she craves merely ‘powers’ her way through it via her mental technique of retreating deep into a white blanket of nowhere. And none of the Masters at The Compound ever notice Talia’s ‘escape’.
Master Ethan is visiting The Compound from Florida for a few months & then expected to return. But that was before his immediate & intense connection with the beautiful sub Talia. Master Ethan is a firm stern & exacting Master, but he is also sensitive & aware of the emotions that drive subs, especially the seemingly ‘perfect’ Talia. And Master Ethan is the only one who notices that Talia is not ‘flying into subspace’ but shutting herself down dangerously during intense physical scenes & refusing to ‘safeword’.
Master Ethan & Talia are both engaging characters, I was drawn to their electric & immediate mutual romance but even more, drawn to Master Ethan’s firm but gentle & determined search into what was causing Talia’s attempts to experience subspace to fail, why she shut down & most importantly, why she wouldn’t communicate distress or safeword during intense sessions.
I loved how Master Ethan was firm but thoughtful & gentle, not only with his romancing of an emotionally wary Talia, but how he worked to help her find what she needed & wanted & to help her understand that there are multiple paths in their chosen lifestyle. That a path she shared with Master Tom did not necessarily mean it was the path needed with someone else. Master Ethan was loving & protective of Talia, & Talia found with Master Ethan a sweet physically satisfying relationship, sexually & otherwise, she hadn’t before experienced.
But Master Ethan is only able to show the way, to stand beside Talia, to support her, Talia is the one who must dig deep within herself to not only find answers but acknowledge truth & make the changes required for her & Master Ethan’s relationship to fully progress.
This story is mainly a wonderful tale of 2 people finding their ‘one’ but also a journey to inner peace & acceptance of one’s need to adapt. There is a bit of darkness with a secondary character, some low level angst related to the dark situation, erotic BDSM encounters & old friends from previous books by the author. I truly did enjoy this one, it is a heartwarming romance I will be rereading.
Coming Home, in my opinion is the best book in the Compound Trilogy. The author has written a story that keeps you engrossed from start to finish, and you can’t help but root for the heroine and her happy ending.
Talia is a young widow who was submissive to her master/husband for many years. After her loss (his death), she’s at a crossroads and becomes a house slave at the Compound. Soon she is paired with the new trainer, Master Ethan and he takes her under his whip…err wing.
Ethan teachers Talia to overcome the walls she has built up and vows to help her reach the “flying” state of bliss. If only Talia learns to stop “vacating the premises”. Make sure to read this book to discover just what that means.
Coming Home is an entertaining read that’s well written and an awesome addition to your library.
This is an excellent follow up book in the Compound series. New characters mixed with familiar ones makes for an entertaining reading experience. Without realizing it, Ethan has been drifting in his BDSM life for a while. When he takes a temporary position at the Compound he discovers what he may have been missing: a new home with like-minded people who quickly becomes not only friends but family. He also finds the beautiful, unowned staff slave Talia. It’s readily apparent that there’s a spark between them but there’s also an aura of sadness and aloofness about her. Learning her history gives Ethan insight on several levels. Building trust and retraining her becomes paramount if they want to have a relationship.
Claire Thompson saved the best for last!! This third book in the Compound Trilogy was by far my favorite and I loved the other 2 books. Ethan and Talia’s story was at times heart wrenching, super sexy, and everything in between. There was a surprise twist of drama I loved…this book had it all. I will miss all the folks at the Compound and hope to have a visit there again in the future.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book
This is a wonderful read….the final book in a trilogy that was very erotic and vivid, The descriptions of the “scenes” of bdsm training are intense and enlightening. The commitment and strength of the protagonist, Talia, and her journey of finding a new lover and master. She takes her submission to a higher level in this journey.
This is the third book in the Compound trilogy and as with the other books in the trilogy it is another home run from Claire Thompson. This book is about the relationship between Ethan and Talia and we get to see Alexis, Paul, and others compound members again! Ethan is a visiting Dom and is secure in his knowledge of the BDSM community and knows what kind of relationship he wants with his sub. Talia thinks she just wants to be a house slave after losing her husband/dom. After meeting Ethan the sparks fly and with help from Ethan and other members of the Compound ‘family’ Talia learns to fly. I love Claire’s writing style as I feel like I’m on the characters journey with them. I hated to see the book and the trilogy end.
This is the 3rd in the Compound Trilogy, but can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone. Well written, good character development. It was a good read, but not my favorite of the three. maybe because I knew it was the last and I truly enjoyed reading about the Compound
Book 3 of the Coming Home-Compound Trilogy is an excellent read! This book can be summed up in some many ways but the one quote I found the most memorable is “But there’s no manual or whatever on how to people choose to express themselves in the lifestyle.” I love this book because we meet Master Ethan and Talia at the Compound. Master Ethan visiting from Miami travels to the Compound to run two new training programs and he is immediately captivated by our heroine, Talia. A young widow, Talia experienced the lifestyle with her late husband and is now employed as a staff slave at the Compound. The chemistry between Ethan and Talia is magnetic and you are rooting for them to mutually share their feelings throughout the story. This book has moments of suspense, intensity, tears, joy, and sexiness! But what we readers take away (other than the fabulously written romance) is that different takes on the lifestyle are not wrong and trying a new one can be just as satisfying. Lastly, learning how to fly takes practice.
I loved to return to the Compound again and to meet both old ’friends’ as well as new ones.
Talia and Ethan’s story made my heart warm.
I know that it’s supposed to be an end to this triology, but I can see at least one more story here.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Will Ethan return to the compound to be with Talia?
This is my 6th book by the author and I love an author who writes in dual point of view. Ethan asks Talia to help him with his training session with a couple at the Compound and soon asks Miriam if Talia can be available for his training sessions. What starts out as just an attraction, quickly becomes something more for the two. But what will happen when Ethan’s 3 month contract ends at the Compound? You have to read to find out and will enjoy the steamy read.
I think I got it downloaded before you changed it
Amazon should let the reader decide for themselves if it is to risqué. I didn’t mind it. I really think in a book of this genre people who read this know stuff like this could possible be in there.
I have seen worse than this in Amazon.
They should be fair to all authors. It would be nice if all the authors of this genre could get together with their own blog.
I think I will purchase the other two because this one is great.
Thanks so much for letting me do your ARC
Colleen
I really enjoyed reading Ethan and Talia’s story! Ethan didn’t think he was missing anything in life, but after coming for a short stint at the Compound, he is instantly attracted to the quiet sub. Talia has had more than required heartache in life so far, but she is aware enough to know what she needs. While she is embracing the lifestyle as a sub, she has no plans to be involved with one person. Then she meets Ethan.
There is so much growth that happens between these two. Neither Ethan or Talia fight their attraction, but working out the details of their relationship, their Master/slave dynamic, takes some time. There are some major happenings that cause them to rely on each other. They need to break from the molds they have, and accept what they mean to each other
Stark in some spots, warm in others, the journey was a joy to take with this Dom and sub
“Coming Home” is the last book in Claire Thompson’s “The Compound” trilogy. It is a love story set in The Compound, a BDSM haven located in eastern New York. “Coming Home” tells the story of Talia and Ethan. Talia was introduced to BDSM by her husband, who sadly was killed in Afghanistan. After enjoying her time there, she decides to work at the The Compound. She works as a massage therapist, but if unassigned to any master she will be available to any Master. Ethan is a master who works out of Miami, but decides to come to The Compound. When Talia and Ethan meet it’s love at first sight. The Compound Series is a great series and “Coming Home” is the perfect end to the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this 3rd and final book in this series with great characters, romance and intrigue. Her love had been killed in Afghanistan and she believed she would never love again. She was surviving as a sex slave at The Compound, an exclusive BDSM club. A new trainer comes and they fall for each other, but there are complications. The ending is great. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy.
I always enjoy my time at The Compound! Ms. Thompson introduces us to Ethan, a visiting Dom, there to develop new programs for The Compound, and Talia, a young widow in the life, who feels she will never find love again. When their eyes meet… something sparks. It’s not long before Ethan is asking for Talia’s assistance with his training sessions. There’s excitement when Talia is missing from the compound. And, that entire day, Ethan is looking all over for Talia. You’ll have to read to find out what happened! Something is developing between these two, or was there from the start. But, Ethan is just a visiting Dom! Thoroughly enjoyed this book. (Several intense scenes.)
A Review of Return to the Compound by Claire Thompson
Ethan and Talia – 5 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
It was so lovely to return to the compound and visit with old friends. The ending of this story is fabulous. The whole book is a well written and fabulous story. Ms. Thompson is a wonderful storyteller and this book is a shining example of that gift. Talia and Master Ethan are a great couple. It was so fun seeing Talia come so far in her submission.
Coming Home, the journey continues. The long awaited third book in The Compound trilogy does not disappoint. As the title says, it really does feel like coming home. Enjoyed connecting with some of the original characters from The Compound. This place is built of a family with strong connections. Even though they aren’t blood related they are family non the less. Each looking out for the other. As you read through this journey you will find yourself drawn into this community as you are actually part of this story.
Talia sought out The Compound after her Husband/Dom was killed in the war. She does not believe she will ever find a connection or love with another Dom. Talia is a Submissive, but has never been able to find that place where Subs fly.
Ethan is a visiting Dom from a Miami BDSM Club where he is a trainer. He is at The Compound to start a new training program for Doms and couples. Realizing early on that he needs a Sub as an assistant. Talia wanders into one of his training sessions to deliver towels and is asked to assist. He makes an immediate connection with her and gets permission to use Talia as his Sub for his training sessions.
Talia ends up suffering a terrible experience away from The Compound by an abusive bully that calls himself a Dom. This event was nonconsenual and Talia was not able to escape. Ethan swoops into to save her. This is where their journey takes a turn. Will Talia be able to trust and find love again? Is Ethan’s caring and compassion enough to get her there? You will have to read this thrilling heartwarming story for yourself to see how the journey ends. If you haven’t read the first two books in this trilogy, I recommend you start with The Compound to get the full experience.
Claire Thompson is a gifted author who writes about the good and the bad in the BDSM lifestyle. I never hesitate in buying any of her books. They maybe intense, but always deliver a feel good ending. I am sad to say goodbye to this series but look forward to what is next.
This is a beautifully written tale which shows how badly things can go if you are with the wrong person and how amazing it can be with the right one.
Beautifully written as always and you will totally fall in love with the characters – such a heart warming story.
Superb!
***TRIGGER WARNING***
Although I hear Amazon did not let this publish as I read it, I want you to be aware it has “triggers” as I read it.
Talia is staggering through life after losing her husband and Dom to war in Afghanistan. Trying to find herself she enrolls in training at the Compound, after completing the training, she received an offer to stay on as a staff slave. She has never experienced an undeniable attraction to anyone in her life not even her husband/Dom. And then, Ethan shows up. He is not staying, only here for a few months and then he will be gone. Why is she having such strong emotions toward him?
