It reminded me of the small town that I grew up in. The friendship formed that lasted over years, and the pride of the town folks.
Great start to a great series. The characters were believable and well-developed. The plot was amazing. I look forward to the rest of the series.
The first book of a new series. Coming home and finding community, finding family. This is a standalone romance with some drama. It is also laying the groundwork for upcoming books and beloved characters. I loved the book and I love the family this book introduces us to — former military, police, professionals and small town home. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I love this book. It was so cool to see a love that has span the times and separation to come full circle. Mixed in with the love story and was a great twist and turns that constantly keep me wanting to turn the pages. It was great to see the twist and turns to go along with one of the characters and their roles not just a add on. Once again Maryann Jordan writes a book that makes everyone coming back for more and unable to put the book down.
Coming Home is another great book from Maryann Jordan’s pen, but also an awesome start to the new Baytown Boys Series.
I loved how the author gave us glimpses into Mitch and Tori’s past in this book. I was hooked from the first chapter and could not put the book down until I read last page. I enjoy a good suspense romance and I was not disappointed! I can highly recommend this book – it contains a HEA and no cliffhanger. I am now waiting in anticipation for the next book in this series!
So I found this one to be exciting based on the fact alone that a character from a previous series now is branching out on his own. He is the opening for this new series that already has me by the nose going along with Mitch to see what he will be up to in his home town. Loved him with the FBI but now he has a chance to let us see how he can really shine. Thing is though when he does come home he also comes across a old love but now she needs the authorities help because someone messed with one of her guests in a serious way. We get to get on board with these two as we follow them thru the clues of this mysterious death with the revealing on what is found out being the hook that goes deeper. Love and second chances is where my heart has a soft spot for especially in cases such as this one. the descriptions too of this place and the people will have you not wanting to emerge anytime soon. Victoria will have her hands full but love the way Mitch steps in to give more than his hands to help. By the time you reach the end of the road on this one it will only really be just the beginning in quality time spent in Baytown. Love will also mark the road and time while there.

I purchased a copy of the the novel Coming Home: Baytown Boys Series book 1 by Maryann Jordan and this review was given freely.
Vivid descriptions, jealousy, greed, good friends, a tutorial on The American Legion, murder and a steamy second chance at love romance. A good introduction to the series including Mitch and his band of highschool friends in the current day. Former FBI agent and Army Military Police, Mitch returns to Bayton in the Chesapeake Bay area to take over for his dad as Chief of Police, reconnects with his friends and family, reunites with Tori, his childhood sweetheart and the new Sea Glass Inn owner.
Loved this book. Mitch and Tori make a great couple. Getting the back story from when thay were kids a bonus. Plenty of action , heat, and great writing make for a must read
I really loved reading this book. Maryann Jordan writes the story so you can picture the details in your head. This book was full of friendship, betrayal, romance, murder, and kidnapping. You were left guessing who the criminals were until the end, and I was surprised.
An absolutely delightful second chance romance with some murder and mayhem thrown in leaving us trying to figure out who dunnit. Watching Tori and Mitch have that second chance was sometimes funny, sometimes poignant and other times right down steamy. Thanks for the awesome read!!
Coming Home is a beautifully poignant second chance love story that had me emotional and teary eyed. It is also a heart stopping edge of your seat small town murder mystery that had me biting my nails.
Each summer as Tori visited with her grandmother in Baytown, she fell in love more and more with hometown golden boy Mitch. Mitch looked forward to her visits each summer from the first time he saw her as a little six year old till the last when she was sixteen.
“I left right after graduation and life took me a lot of places. I never forgot the little red-headed girl from long ago though. And I’m so glad we’re both back to stay.”
Former military and FBI agent Mitch returned to his hometown to take the position of Police Chief after his dad, the previous chief suffered a heart attack.
Tori returned to take over The Sea Glass Inn after the death of her beloved grandmother.
Coming Home is the first book in a new series of standalone romances by Maryann Jordan and I can already tell that it is going to be my new favorite series by this author!
Victoria Bradford has come back to Baytown as the new owner of The Seaglass Inn B&B since the death of her grandmother.
Mitch Evans has come back to his hometown as it’s new police chief after some time in the Army and then the FBI. He could not believe his luck when he discovers the girl he has been in love with since he was 8 is now the owner of the Seaglass Inn.
The chemistry between Victoria and Mitch has grown since they were 6 and 8 much to the surprise of each other.
As strange things begin to happen surrounding Victoria it quickly becomes evident that someone is trying to kill her, and not one of her guests who simply got what was meant for her and died. With suspects being her estranged sister and her ex husband it also points to the new City Manager of Baytown, Silas Mills. There just doesn’t seem to be any real reason anyone would want to harm Tori much less kill her. That is until the mystery is uncovered and brings some shocking results to the close of this awesome mystery/love story.
This was a very good book. There is some suspense in the book that keeps you guessing, “Who done it?” throughout the entire book. The author would feed us just enough to let us guess who it may be, but never really tell us. The characters are likable. As this is a new series, you are introduced to many characters whom will I imagine have their own books. Most of the “Alpha Males” are ex military so there are some military references within the book. This book is about Mitch, who has come home to be the new sheriff. He is reunited with Tori, whom he used to pine after each summer when she would come visit Baytown. The story never stalls, but it just keeps you interested. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.

Coming Home was exactly what I have grown to love by Maryann Jordan. However this book was so much more. It entices you from the first page and keeps your attention to the very last word. Mitch Evans and Victoria Bradford are very well written and likeable characters. You want their second chance at love to work out. Anytime a true alpha male loves deeply you get a love story to end all stories. Maryann delivers a kick ass love story intertwined with one of the best books about small town life I have ever read.
You come to care about the Baytown Boys and their pasts. These men who served there country before coming home to the small town they grew up in. This book is about love, hope, service to country and loss, and the pain it leaves in its wake. The character development is brilliantly written and I can see each character in my mind.
I loved the flashbacks to Mitch and Tori’s childhood and how they grew into the adults they are today. The glimpse of small town life soothed my soul and I will definitely be reading more of the Baytown Boys series as they are available. The love story is not sacrificed for the suspenseful aspects of the story. The feeling of service and sacrifice was well written and the American Legion aspects with vets caring for vets and bringing them home to a better place brought tears to my eyes . The empty chair ceremony for the missing vets who never returned will bring even the most hardened to tears. Well done Maryann Jordan…well done
more gross sex education than. story.it could have been wonderful if they would have stayed with the story line the whole series the same
The plot of this book was full of twists and turns. Predictable yet unpredictable.
Several people presented themselves as possible perpetrators.
Good romance
Nice summer read
Anything Mary Ann writes is exceptional. Highly recommend this book and looking forward to reading the next book.
What a delightful series! This is the first and I highly recommend reading all of them.
