Emily Vargas has been taken captive. As part of his conditioning methods, her captor refuses to speak to her, knowing how much she craves human contact. He’s far too beautiful to be a monster. Combined with his lack of violence toward her, this has her walking a fine line at the edge of sanity. Told in the first person from Emily’s perspective, Comfort Food is a tale of erotic surrender that … explores what happens when all expectations of pleasure and pain are turned upside down, as whips become comfort and chicken soup becomes punishment.

Guys!!! This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE books! It’s twisted as hell, but damn, I wish I could experience it all over again. If you love dark romance, this is the one you MUST read! Comfort Food is EVERYTHING.
OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!
I can’t believe I read this book in 1/2 day. It is a very dark story about a woman that was kidnapped and then trained to be a submissive and to crave him. I am not sure if you would call it a HEA story but, not sure it was an unhappy ending either. Kitty Thomas you kept me where I couldn’t put the book down.
This is the best book I’ve read in quite awhile. I think reading it during quarantine really helped set my mood. When I first discovered that the book was written in first person and the antagonist wasn’t going to speak, I thought for sure I wouldn’t be able to make it to the end. I love dialogue; i tolerate the descriptions to be rewarded with …
Super twisted great author
I swear this was one of the best books I’ve ever read!!! I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t get enough of this story!!! This was also my first dark romance I’ve ever read and have been hooked to the dark side ever since!
Wow this book dark and great.
Oh wow, I had to wait to write this review because I needed it to sink in exactly what I thought of the book, and I can only say wow……..
This story is encapsulated in one line – I saw something today I am going to break and that is what the entire story is from beginning to end. Although it is told from 1st person POV of Emily, it really isn’t …
I enjoyed learning with Emily about her captor and thought her reactions seemed normal based on her circumstances. This isn’t a “she just rolled over and took it” there was development and connecting points throughout the book I thought tied it up nicely. I love the way the book ended, even though there was a twist towards the end I didn’t …
One of my favorites
This book is very well written, and makes you think about how complicated our psyches can be.
I absolutely loved this book!
Amazing!!! Loved this book.
Total waste of time, aweful, so stupid, I can’t believe I read the whole thing , I kept hoping it would get better
Twisted Dark story. Story could have gone so many different ways. Interesting characters. Hard to rationalize character perspective.
I’m trying out some dark romance/erotica lately because hey, I’m into that messed up shit. But this…ugh…
Basically, it’s the story of a woman (a psychologist) brainwashed through sensory deprivation to accept domination from a twisted man who needs control. Stockholm syndrome and captivity kink galore, which is lovely, only…somehow I just …
“Comfort Food” felt like reading a real life account perspective of someone who develops Stockholm Syndrome and the conditioning that goes into the victims psyche. Here’s a strong woman, independent speaker and leader who is drugged, kidnapped and though not violently abusive(depending on definition) trained to become a “sex slave” to her …
First of all let me just say that I have mixed feeling about this one due to the nonviolent kidnapper which I never heard of before and that fact that he didn’t talk. The fact that this book was written from Emily’s POV and to get a better understanding of her it turned out pretty good. I would have liked to get a better understanding of Master …
Wow….totally not what I was expecting. So this book is a little (okay a lot) dark, and twisted, and just holy cow. This is not a love story, so if you are expecting a romance….run, run the other way. However, if you are looking for something that is going to push your limits, test your sanity, and make you question what are you reading. Then …
This story sat on my TBR for far too long!
I love dark, twisted, and completely unexpected stories and Comfort Food was spectacular! In this bizarre and messed up relationship I was captivated from page one until the end!
5 psychologically messed up stars
