Jed and Dakota couldn’t be more different. One’s an overly cautious, nerdy workaholic who just can’t seem to loosen up. The other’s a hot, tattooed bar owner who doesn’t take anything very seriously. An undeniable attraction flares between them when they get stuck in a cozy cabin right before the holidays. All too soon though, the storm passes and they’re back out in the real world. There are a … world. There are a million reasons why this should be nothing more than a weekend fling, including the fact that Jed’s life is in San Francisco and Dakota’s is in the Sierras. Plus, Jed’s demanding career doesn’t exactly allow time for a social life.
But when something feels so right, can either man just walk away?
Or will two total opposites figure out how to make it work, despite all the obstacles in their path?
This light-hearted holiday romance is set in the world of Alexa Land’s Firsts and Forever Series. While long-time readers will recognize some familiar faces, this novella can be read as a stand-alone.

I found this to be a super sweet and adorable (and a little bit steamy) holiday novella! Dakota and Jed meet when Jed’s SUV breaks down on the side of the road and Dakota rescues him.
This forced proximity, M/M story was exactly what I needed. It was full of charming goodness and gave me plenty of smiles and giggles.
This is a novella from the Firsts & Forever series, which I have not read. That series doesn’t need to be read first for this one to be enjoyed.
RATING 4.5 STARS
Comfort and Joy is book #16.6 in the Firsts and Forever series by Alexa Land. This is my first book by this author and it can most definitely be read as a stand alone. I saw a full length book by Alexa that caught my attention but decided to jump in with this novella first and I’m so glad I did!
Dakota North lives in his cabin up in the mountains near Lake Tahoe. He owns a small bar in a little town nearby. His life is solitary but that’s what he wants. He has the customers at the bar for company. But on one particular night near Christmas on his way home from work he spied a car stuck in the mud on the side of the road. And for some reason the driver was jumping around outside without any clothes on in the freezing temperatures! Little did Dakota realize how much his life was about to change.
Jedidiah (Jed) Jorgensen lives in San Francisco and works for a corporation where he spends almost all his time trying to impress his boss and secure his future. Because that is all that matters to him, having a secure future. Even if he is too exhausted when he gets home to his tiny apartment at night to have any social life. Jed is on his way to spend Christmas with his brother up in the mountains at a resort but it’s pouring down rain, he his horribly lost, and now he’s stuck. What are the chances anyone will come along and find him? But then there they were, headlights, his rescuer.
Dakota has to bring Jed back to his cabin to ride out the storm. The chemistry, the instant attraction between these two is so strong neither can ignore it. But the longer they are stuck together, a whole new Jed begins to appear, a Jed who laughs, jokes, a Jed who doesn’t have insomnia. And Dakota realizes that he was lonelier than he realized. That he was enjoying having Jed with him. Even though he knew that their time together had an expiration date.
This was such a sweet, fun, sexy little holiday story. There really wasn’t anything I didn’t like about it. There were some laugh out loud moments, plenty of sigh worthy moments and some steamy ones. I loved the transformation that Jed went through. These two were just so cute together. I enjoyed this so much and definitely look forward to exploring more of this author’s work!

An adorably sweet holiday story. I love the forced proximity, stuck in a snowstorm trope and this one didn’t disappoint. Jed and Dakota are complete opposites that work so well together. I loved every moment with them and more often than not had a smile on my face.
Although part of the Firsts and Forever series it would work well as a standalone, although there are cameo appearances from plenty of the extended Dombruso+ family. Another wonderful story from Alexa Land!

Very cute, quick read. While it’s part of a series, it’s one of those books that you can certainly read as a standalone.
There was a definite case of insta-lust/love with Jed and Dakota, but not over the top or unrealistic. I think sometimes two people just click and that was the case for these two. Jed and Dakota are complete opposites, but they’re just what the other one needed. I thought they were really sweet together.
Awe… I loved this. So heartwarming. I laughed & I cried. Oh the feels. It was a lovely Christmas story.
