I needed a CFO and I got a mouthy, dominant, stunningly beautiful vixen instead. Having to retire from the military early was never in the long-term plans for my life. And when I lost my leg, my drive doubled. I’ve built my billion-dollar financial company from the ground up, but I need to groom a numbers person to help keep things humming. Lilac is the perfect pick. She’s not going to let … perfect pick. She’s not going to let anything get by her.
Including me.
Never in my life have I butted heads with someone so hard, but the effect is a high I’m not sure I can live without.
This single mom doesn’t have a choice on where her future lies.
I want her in my office, at the board table, and in my life forever.
And what I want, I get.

Nice standalone sweet story. Liked the characters and Joseph’s relationship with Lincoln.
I enjoyed this book.
I did like how the book took turns giving the view from each of the two main characters from chapter to chapter. Kept it an interesting read.
Joseph and Lilac were incredible characters. The storyline was captivating kept me reading until I finished the book. It was a refreshing story and romance.
COME WORK FOR ME is the first book I’ve read by Weston Parker. I really did enjoy the book. It was a story of a demanding boss man who is slowly won over by his newly hired single mom. Who is qualified to be trained to be his new CFO. Joseph Matthews, the CEO of the Mathews Financial Company, was a legend in the Chicago finance industry. He was demanding and controlling boss, who had to retire early from the military, after losing his leg. At 23 he built a billion dollar financial company from the ground up. The business then became his entire life.
Lilac Hawkings had a 3-year-old son named Lincoln. He was her whole world. She wanted a better job so she could provide better for him. Lilac had put herself through school so had debt she would like to get rid of, too. Matthews Financial had a reputation for paying well. She really wanted the CFO job. The former CFO had been there since the beginning, but left for personal reasons. Leaving Joseph wanting to fill that position with someone who he could personally train to do the job to his liking. Lilac was the perfect pick he thought.
Their professional jobs were working out quite smoothly. Her son attended the company daycare, and he was always close. Then Joseph burst into her office one day, and demanded that she attend a formal gathering where all the important business people would be in attendance. He had forgotten and on short notice he needed a date. He would pay for a dress & an entire team to get her ready. One of the daycare ladies was to watch her son for the evening. When he saw her all ready for their date, he felt like she had enchanted him somehow. She was absolutely stunning. He had the most beautiful woman on his arm and suddenly the evening was really looking up. The biggest surprise was on their way home in the limo, Lilac in her drunken wisdom kissed him. She kissed her boss. And once they started kissing they never stopped.
Boy, Weston did it again. The talent that he has for writing is amazing. I haven’t read a story of his nor his sister’s that I did enjoy.
The storyline to this book was great. Very good read!!
Eñtertainiñg and touching with just enough action to keep you readiñg nonstop.
Great read
Come Work For Me – Weston Parker — A retired air force veteran finds himself in desperate need of a new CFO. Joseph’s assistant Ollie knows the moment he meets Lilac, that this is lady is going to give his boss a run for his money. It’s a good thing the multi-billion dollar company takes good care of its employees! As Lilac settles her son into the in house day care, she hits the ground running as the CFO in training. When her ex come creeping around demanding money, Joseph doesn’t hesitate to move Lilac and Lincoln in with him. If it sounds like their relationship is whirlwind fast, it is. But in this case, the characters make it work (which is some good writing because I am not a huge fan of impulsive relationship decisions when kids are involved in the story usually)! New author for my terrifying TBR pile! Happy Reading!
This was such a great read! I loved the backstories of each character, their character development throughout the book, and the way they interacted. I enjoyed their creative abilities and the way their personalities meshed to be a great fit for the company and for each other. I am going to read it again, just because of the great feels it provides! Excellent quality writing, plot development, and a great HEA!
Loved the storyline between Lilac and Joseph.
Lincoln was absolutely adorable. Loved Ollie too.
Brilliant book well worth 5 stars
Weston Parker really knows how to draw his reader into the world of his engaging characters. In this book we join the world of Joseph, ex military man who lost a leg in combat, and single mum Lilac who comes to work for his multi billion dollar business and her adorable cute son, Lincoln who will melt your heart. The chemistry between Joseph and Lilac is almost combustible and I did ‘fear’ for my Kindle at times! Will they or won’t they is practically from as soon as they meet at her interview for the CFO position at his company. Weston writes his characters so that they are 3-dimensional and very believable. This is one of those stories that I will come back to read and read again as enjoyed it so much. I received a reader’s copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended!!
Another great read by Weston! I couldn’t put it down!
Great read.
The characters were well developed and had chemistry; you will fall instantly in love with them.
Loved the story, I would recommend this book to all.
Lilac is a single mother of three year old Lincoln. Her ex Kurt left her as soon as I’m pregnant came out of her mouth.
Joseph is a retired disabled veteran who started his own company. He has no issues with being blunt and curt. He manages to refrain from acting on his appreciation of Lilac. He hired her to do a job not date her.
Ollie Joseph’s assistant need his own story.
As Lilac gets comfortable in her new job and grows accustomed to Joseph’s mercurial ways she sees her boss as more than a hunky grump but fights her attraction. Lincoln is a well mannered little boy and communicates like a teenager.
But things are bound to happen like Kurt coming back into the picture like all is good, what’s he up to. For the first time Joseph isn’t happy with his just watching Lilac from a far.
Now that he knows her strengths and weaknesses he is convinced he can have it all, business, romance and a HEA but first he needs to keep Lilac and Lincoln safe. A little drama and fun bantering but a great plot and ending.
Very well written!
I’m extremely surprised at the outcome of this story. When I started it, I thought this is just another boss and employee romance but I will admit it appears that I under estimated the author.
The main characters both had an inner strength that always touches me, and add the fact that Joseph is a vet. Sigh!
I don’t want to say to much but I will say that Joseph has overcome a lot in his life and has excelled in his current position. Even though he is tough and expects a lot from his employees, he is fair and rewards them for all they do. When Lilac, a single mom comes in to interview for a position as his CFO let’s say he notices her appearance but is determined to overlook that and concentrate on molding her to be the perfect CFO that he needs.
These two together are a dynamite team.
Add in a adorable little guy, a funny personal assistant and so much more and this book just can’t go wrong.
I LOVED every moment of it.
Highly recommended for all readers
Weston you did it again with another awesome story. We have Joseph and lilac, two people who have this burning to ash chemistry that sets the pages on fire. He’s this self-made billionaire and she’s is soon-to-be CFO. When things go from friendly to hot it’s like watching time stand stil. They are the perfect pair and this story really shows it. I’m definitely recommending this one and give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I loved this story. It has you damsel in distress and your Alpha male. Joseph is looking to hire a CFO for his company. He coming to the end of the interview process when Liliac comes in for her interview. Liliac is a single mother of a 3 year old boy. He is her priority. Getting this job would mean that she could provide for him while still being available for him. She can’t believe it when Joseph hires her on the spot. She can’t believe her luck. She has the job of a lifetime and a handsome boss too. Joseph can’t believe he just hired her. The instant attraction was immediate. He doesn’t know how he is going to maintain a proper working relationship.
A completely addictive reading experience! This is a great story that is nicely developed and well written. Love the characters in this wonderful story. Joseph and Lilac are great! Wonderful chemistry! Joseph, a disabled veteran, is all of a sudden desperately in need of a new CFO for his company. Lilac, a single mother to little Lincoln, gets the job. Sparks definitely fly between these two. There journey to happiness has it’s ups and downs but it’s a beautiful journey with one nasty ex. This might be my favorite story from this author yet.
