Rose Gardner collects secrets the way other people collect junk—and now she’s being asked to expose them. Special Prosecutor Mason Deveraux has called a grand jury to investigate the corruption in the Sweet Branch Police Department, and he’s summoned Rose as a witness. Any topic is fair game, and the criminals in Fenton county are rightly scared of what she might share under oath. While trying to … trying to placate the lawless men, Rose is also caring for her dying sister, Violet. Only Violet’s doctor has fled town after selling prescriptions, and Rose is sure big-time drug dealer Denny Carmichael has his hand in the situation. She has no intention of investigating, but like with a lot of her cases, clues keep falling into her lap.
Then, just when it feels like everything’s at a boiling point, Rose gets shocking news that turns her life upside down. Now, she’s not just soothing the criminals’ anxiety, but actively seeking allies for a fight she hasn’t asked for—and her enemy just might be the man she loves.

The intense anxiety leading up to a new Rose Gardener release is real, especially for die-hard longtime fans…
The build-up toward another visit to Henrietta reading more about Rose’s life, living it with her, it’s so powerful sleep is impossible.
When you actually get the book and you hesitate to open it because you just don’t know what’s truly coming, even if in your head you might have some idea… Denise Grover Swank is such a masterful story-teller she always manages to throw in a few surprises, some good some not so good… But always worth it in the end…
I am always still amazed to think after all these books it’s only been a span of 18 months for Roses’ life… I mean seriously this young woman has just grown from strength to strength, she is surrounded by people who love her and people who hate her just for being herself but I have a feeling the people who Love Rose will always outweigh those haters…
Now I’m ready for the next chapter…
This book is by far the best one in this series. Denise delivered a punch and it hit home. It is a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the book. I shed tears several times, yelled at people, and even belly laughed several times. Denise, you completely outdid yourself in this book, and I absolutely loved it. The bonus content at the end is just what I needed to read after this book. I can’t wait for the next installment and see where Rose takes us.
Absolutely without a doubt the BEST Rose Gardner book yet!!!! I finished it in the wee hours of the morning and have been obsessed with it all day, rereading parts as I try to get ahold of my emotions. I can’t get enough of it. I laughed, screamed at the book many times, cried (lost track of how many times) and had many “OMG” moments. I literally feel like I’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster, but in the best way possible. It takes a special talent for an author to achieve what Denise Grover Swank has with this series, she draws you in and makes you feel a part of the book. I feel lost when I’ve finished a book and miss by friends and family in Henryetta. Get your copy now!!!

*******4.25 Stars******
All I have to say is wow! I feel emotionally traumatized, in the best way possible after finishing this book. Denise did not lie when she said this book would be a game changer. All I kept thinking as I was reading is – oh the tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive – I’ll admit that I’m a bit of emotional wreck after finishing this book and have so many thoughts racing through my head. I will just warn you all right now, be prepared for a book hangover and plan accordingly.
The theme of Come Rain or Shine is choices. We all have to make them and we all have to face the consequences of these decisions. I don’t see how Rose and the gang will ever be the same after this book, heck I don’t see how Fenton County will be the same after this book. The ripple effects of each decision are going to have a far-reaching and lasting impact for months (or books) to come.
What I love most about this series and this book is that Denise allows these characters to grow throughout this series and book. Rose, Neely Kate and Joe and the rest of the gang have had the room to become fully fleshed characters who are not perfect, make mistakes but aren’t bound to the sins of their past. They are able to learn and grow and become their best self. It makes for a more vibrant, compelling and complex series and you can’t help but get emotionally attached to them.
Another steller additional to this series and a total game changer!

So I finished this book at 1AM today and here I am 23 hours later still trying to gather my thoughts on Come Rain or Shine. I am speechless in the best way possible. It’s hard to give many details without spoilers, but know this is a must read in the series. There were so many surprises throughout the novel and it was such an emotional roller coaster. I swooned, I laughed, I cried, I literally yelled “NO!” at my Kindle, and then I cried some more. The heartbreak is so real, but the strength of family, whether by blood or not, is so real as well. Rose continues to come into her own throughout the series and, boy, did she do it big this time! I’m so interested to see how this storyline is going to progress in the next book.
Each book in the Rose Gardner series is more complex and unexpected than the one before. I have thought about this review more than any other I’ve ever written simply because it’s so hard not to include spoilers. This book, which I sat up most of the night reading, completely changes Rose’s world as we’ve come to accept it through her journey from 28-1/2 Wishes.
Rose is definitely not a shy, scared, inexperienced girl anymore; she has grown into a strong, independent, worldly woman who is willing to stand up to even the most hardened criminals in Henryetta.
More than once my jaw dropped open reading this book. There were also a few laughs, and several tears. Denise is a master storyteller, and this book is another example of her talent as a writer.
This book has been one of the most anticipated episodes from the whole Rose collection. It goes without saying, but I will, you need to have read the other editions, as this picks up pretty close to where book 4 ends.
I find these are the hardest books to review, purely because so much happens and I do not want to spoil anything for readers. These mysteries are jam packed full of action that your head will move back and forth like a good tennis match. I suggest grab some popcorn and buckle in for an amazing ride.
This installment mainly takes place at the farmhouse and it’s time frame is no more than a week. Which brings about a lot of things happening in a short amount of time, but that’s Rose’s life in a nut shell. There is a lot activity coming and going from Rose’s home and also some hustle and bustle happening around the town. Plenty of emotions come into play with every factor undertaking. Some readers may be shocked with the outcomes but I for one am please how Rose has adopted her new perspective of life. She has definitely matured since Twenty-eight and a Half Wishes but she has also gained so much wisdom.
