Dear grouchy neighbor: I’m considering your offer and need clarification before proceeding. Despite being an artist, I think you know that as a busy New Yorker, I am also practical and straightforward. That said, I need to make sure you know that this could never turn into anything serious. I don’t care if you’re trying to get over your ex-girlfriend or hoping she’ll eventually want to get back … want to get back together with you—just don’t project your messy feelings about her onto me.
Because, despite your resemblance to an underwear model, I won’t be falling for you. Ever.
Yours, with clear boundaries,
Bernadette
p.s. I’d like to be very clear that regardless of whether or not we do this, nothing will change my feelings for your dog (and we both know she loves me too).
Dear nutty neighbor: As a lawyer, I must clarify that I never made an offer. It was a suggestion regarding the possibility of a non-permanent, no-strings-attached arrangement between two consenting adults whose beds are separated by a wall.
As a man who shares your disdain for messy feelings, I applaud your confidence in your ability to not fall for me. Hold onto that. I’d also like to make it clear that I don’t care if you want to get over your crush on your boss or if you still hope he’ll realize you’re the woman of his dreams. That said, I definitely wasn’t thinking about my ex-girlfriend when I kissed you in the laundry room, and I’m quite sure you weren’t thinking about your boss.
As a dog daddy, I’m glad you’re so taken with my girl. But if you try to steal her I will get all Liam Neeson up in your pretty face.
As a busy New Yorker, I think clear boundaries are hot. I have one hour free to blow your mind tonight. So turn off Netflix, put down that glass of wine, and let’s do this.
Yours for now,
Matt

“Come back to bed.”
I don’t often discuss book titles, but this one’s perfect for this book. The intimacy in these four little words sums up Matt and Bernadette’s relationship, because once they met there was no way they were not going to go back to each other. For each other.
“‘Matt McGovern. I know your secret.’
‘What’s that?’
‘You’re even more handsome on the inside.'”
Can someone tell me where I can find me a Matt McGovern, Esq., please? I was into him from the start. I loved his grumpiness, and closed-offness. I love that it’s the guy who got his heart broken – I am not condoning this, but it seems like it’s always the woman who’s been through a break-up. I love that he falls for Bernadette first, and he pursues her, and he would pursue her across all the bridges in the world.
“I wish you were here in bed with me now. I wish you were in bed with me all the time. I want to crash through this wall between us. I want to break all of your rules.”
Bernadette may actually have become my favorite Kayley Loring heroine. She’s different. She’s not waiting for a man in her life, and she’s perfectly OK with one-night-stands and no-string arrangements. She’s independent, and strong, and doesn’t take any BS. I love it.
On the inside, she may be a lot more than that, if you’re really willing to look.
“‘I’m going to wear you out, Bernadette Farmer.’
‘I’m going to crash through all the walls, Esquire.'”
Maybe it’s true that Bernadette first notices Daisy, his dog, and that she kind of falls in love with her. However, the attraction for Matt is right there, seeping through the pages, with scorching chemistry and a moment in the laundry room that is the definition of hot in my book.
And no-strings-attached has never had these many strings – I think, at one point, they were so entwined in each other you couldn’t find enough scissors to cut through it all.
“‘Yes, I am. That was me trying to stay away from you.” I walk over to her. “This is me wanting to get closer to you.'”
In a typical Kayley Loring way, the banter is obviously incredible. The e-mails, the texts, the in-person chats… it’s all amazing. The fact that they use their full names throughout the book as you would if you wanted to distance yourself from that person, or as if you’re pissed off at that person, just makes it all the more endearing to me. Yes, I’m weird that way.
“‘I think everything that I thought was being in love before was really just a longing for this feeling I have for you.'”
I love how Bernadette tears down his walls, and I love how he lets her do it, even without noticing he is doing it. (The post-its! OMG, the post-its. *swoons*)
I love how he does the same for her, and makes her realize she doesn’t have to be afraid of what they have. He’s her anchor. She brings out the best of him.
They’re in it together.
They complement each other.
“You’re trained to render three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface, but for me, you made a two-dimensional world three-dimensional again.”
Both these people were two-dimensional characters in a book, actually. But the way they’re written and their story made them real, three-dimensional people to me, and that’s the beauty of good writing.
Kayley Loring, you are killing me! And I am loving every second of it! This smile on my face is not going away anytime soon!
After reading two difficult romance series in a row (one tragic and one stalkery), I was in the mood for something light and fun to read, and this book fit the bill perfectly. It’s a quick humorous little story with hilarious banter in the first half, and a gentle coast to an HEA in the second half. I would even call it schmaltzy, but that’s okay, sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Sometimes you don’t have the energy for a long, protracted, miserable, angsty conflict. Sometimes just a little indecision and second-guessing and a few days apart is all you want to endure between the H and h.
IMO you won’t find two more lovable characters than these two—Matt and Bernadette. Matt is a too-good-to-be-true, hunky, successful, sweet, dog loving lawyer who really isn’t cut out for no-strings relationships and he knows it. But he decides to give it a try because A) he’s attracted to Bernadette, and B) he’s really horny because his long time girlfriend dumped him. Bernadette is an artist at heart who is forced to suppress her artistic side in favor of her more organized, responsible side. She’s overcompensating for the excessively emotional, unstructured upbringing that she had. But she isn’t truly free or happy living like that, she is actually a square peg being forced into a round hole. The two begin a casual relationship that evolves from there and ends with an HEA.
What is especially fun about this book is the author’s style. The blurb is a good example—the funny rhetoric in the emails, texts and post it notes; the free-spirited personas of Aunt Dolly and Bernadette’s parents; the uninhibited dialogue of characters who are, shall we say ‘tipsy’—these and other examples, along with a conflict that is fairly minimal, are what make this such a delightful read. Give this one a try if you want or need to smile.
This book was absolutely fantastic!!! I loved it from the first to last page. The back and forth between Matt and Bernadette is hilarious. The cast of characters that surrounds them are absolutely outstanding, unique and hysterical. So many times this book had me laughing out loud. HIGHLY RECOMMEND reading this book. Super cute, sweet and fun read.
Feel the Bern! And oh boy did I.
Matt and Bernadette as a couple are adorable. Matt’s my kind of book boyfriend. Smart, sexy, and an all-around good guy with a dog. He’s coming out of a bad relationship and Bernadette doesn’t strike him as his type.
Bernadette is an artist whose fallen into a rut with a job that pays the bills and then some but doesn’t allow her to pursue her art. She thinks Matt is ridiculously good looking but she doesn’t do relationships. She’s a no-strings kind of girl. And I should add here that I totally love her.
I loved watching them fall in love. The sex scenes were hot and the chemistry scorching. But, my absolute favorite is Matt’s epilogue. Hardcore swoon.
I’ve never read a book by Kayley Loring before, but I will be reading more.
I really enjoyed this book a lot. It’s funny, light, fast paced, quite entertaining, sweet, and with a really cute dog.
This books captures your attention from the beginning and you cannot stop listening.
I loved their first encounter and how Bernadette goes all “crazy” straight forward talking to Daysi , and Matt wasn’t quite amuse at all.
The emails they sent to each other are quite funny, they left me with a grin on my face each time, the light banter between them was really great.
Bernadette parents are everything! they’re pretty great and those awkward moments with them were quite amusing. And so it’s Matt aunt’s, that she really knew what she was doing letting him stay at her apartment.
The narration of the book was great, Teddy Hamilton did an amazing job as always. It’s my first time listening to Mackenzie Cartwright, and I liked her narration a lot, she has a good male voice, portrays the emotions of the characters pretty well, and also has different voices for each of them.

t was perfect.
It was funny, witty, and sexy.
I loved it and can’t recommend it enough.
The narrators were excellent.
I absolutely loved this hilarious, sweet and steamy romance! Loring is fast becoming a favorite author, as I fall for her stories that are filled with humor, heart, and sizzling heat! This story is about Bernadette, a talented artist who is afraid to put herself out there. She works as an assistant to another artist who she has crushed on for years. That is until her quirky neighbor goes on vacation, leaving her nephew and his adorable dog to stay in her apartment while she’s away. The first meet cute was so hilarious! Bernadette is awkward and clumsy, and Matt is silently sullen and assessing. They are total opposites and despite the sparks that fly between them, they know they can never be friends. Matt is fresh from a breakup, and is not prepared for his beautiful and nutty new neighbor. They try hard to avoid each other at first, but they are helpless against the magnetic pull they have toward each other. It doesn’t take long for them to give in to their fiery attraction. They are both in agreement to have a short term, no strings affair. They are opposites in every way but their chemistry is explosive! They make the most sense in bed, when their different lives can’t intrude. But rules are meant to be broken when their hearts get involved. Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton were so perfectly cast to narrate this hilarious and heartwarming romance. They did a great job embodying these characters and setting the stage for all the fun, and passion to come. Both narrators have a wonderful range of voices and expressions that I love to get lost in and make this story pure pleasure!
Come Back to Bed was a light, fun, and sweet slow-burn romance that really, really enjoyed. Matt and Bernadette live just across the hall from each other and the story takes off from there. The banter between the two MCs is fantastic and testament to their sizzling chemistry and Kayley Loring’s great writing. If you’re in the mood for a super cute romance with laughs and couple that you’ll root for the entire time, then you need to find a good place to snuggle into and get lost in Come Back to Bed.
Narration by Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright was top notch! From the comedic timing to the perfectly performed characters both narrators once again proved why they’re two of my favorite voice actors. 5 stars.
Come Back To Bed By Kayley Loring is a romantic comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton.
This is the first book of Kayley’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. The story pulled me in and I had to know how it was going to end.
The book is classified as a romantic comedy but I didn’t really get that while listening to it. But I still loved the sweet romance. It gave me all the feels.
Mackenzie and Teddy did an amazing job on the narration. They really bought the story to life.

I LOVED this story so much. Bernadette is such a fun heroine. She is hilarious, free spirited, and caring. She is an artist, who is also the assistant to a famous artist. Matt is the opposite. He is a lawyer, serious, but also has a sweet loving side, especially when it comes to his dog, Daisy.
These two become unlikely neighbors and form a friendship. However, there is also some attraction between them. Why not use their neighbor status and become friends with benefits? Bernadette doesn’t want anything more and Matt just got out of a serious relationship. What is the worst that can happen?
Bernadette and Matt have chemistry right off the bat. I loved their banter, the tension, everything about them. There was were so many times I found myself laughing out loud throughout the story, but also times where I was slightly blushing. This story had it all.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were fantastic like always! This isn’t my first audiobook from Kayley and I love that she uses the same narrators. Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright both do an AMAZING job. They both truly bring these characters to life and you can really feel their personalities shine.
This is not my first, nor will it be my last book by Kayley Loring! This is a super fun MUST READ and MUST LISTEN!

Bernadette and Matt’s story is beautifully written. I love their slow burn story. Bernadette is a very beautiful character. Matt is totally handsome, caring and loving! I love his dog, Daisy! Bernadette’s parents are hilarious! I love the Epilogue. This is such a beautiful and romantic story. Now, I’m looking forward for more books written by this author. Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright did an outstanding job with the narration. I love their voice together! This was a really great audiobook to listen to, and I highly recommend it. #AudiobookObsession
I adored this book!
The characters were wonderfully writen. I really enjoyed the give and take between Bernadette and Matt. I loved how easily they seemed to fit despite their differences, and how their banter was playful and not hurtful. The other characters were quirky and fun and so enjoyable to read.
It was an easy feel good read that I would recommend.

Come Back to Bed
By: Kayley Loring
Narrated by: Mackenzie Cartwright, Teddy Hamilton
How have I not heard of Kayley Loring before? I am so glad I was recommended this book. It’s one that you can listen to, fall in love with both main characters, and just enjoy. Matt is staying at his aunt’s apartment across the hall from Bernadette. And that is all that it starts from. A slow burn romance, a lot of witty banter and a love for Matt’s dog(who wouldn’t love that pup!) will make you listen til the very end. Loring has us rooting for Matt and Bernie even before they get together! From crazy dinners with the neighbors to meeting the parents, to pure romance this book has it all. I love that it’s low angst, smart characters, laugh out loud scenes and total entertainment. A great listen!
Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright are amazing! This team has great comedic timing, and their voices compliment each other. It’s perfectly cast for the characters, as I enjoy their conversational style, easy narration. Loved this combination and hope for more.

I absolutely loved this story. It was a hilarious, charming, refreshing story that had me hooked from beginning to end. The characters were both flawed but complimented each other perfectly. From their first encounter to the very end I loved seeing how their relationship evolved from strangers to neighbours with benefits and then to so much more. The secondary characters were also amazing. They provided balance and support and additional hilarity and added so much to the story.
The novel was well-written and perfectly paced. This was Romantic Comedy at its finest and I enjoyed every second of it.
Come back to Bed was narrated by Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton. These two did an excellent job with the characters. I especially loved Teddy’s portrayal of Matt but they both were incredible and really brought the story to life. Their delivery was spot on and it was a pleasure listening to them both.
Come Back to Bed was an enjoyable story definitely worthy of a five star status. I loved it and would highly recommend it to all RomCom lovers.

I went through most of this book with the biggest, dopiest smile on my face. It’s just every single thing you could want from a romcom. A meet cute, opposites attract, a quirky cast of side characters, scorching chemistry that plays well between the sheets, main characters you want to be/be with and most importantly a great dog.
The narrators are both amazing. You are able to get completely lost in the story.
Absolutely sublime!
Fabulous Story & Audible Listen Delightful & Enjoyable!
Come Back to Bed
By: Kayley Loring
Narrated by: Mackenzie Cartwright, Teddy Hamilton
This is an enjoyable and entertaining story. It is well written, well told with great storylines that are original and interesting. Once I started the book I did not want to put it down and I had a smile on my face the entire time. I adored the characters, Bernadette and her quirkiness, her straight forwardness was refreshing. I was happy that Matt was not the angsty, arrogant arse, which was my first impression of him. Coming from a breakup does not bring the out the best of anyone. Sure, compared to Bernadette it seemed like he had a stick up, well you know where. But Bernadette gets that stick out and brings out the best of him. I loved those two together, they were so different yet they complimented each other so well. The dialogue and banter between them was great, smart and witty. The texts & emails between them were just hilarious. Dolly’s messages were hilarious too. I highly recommend this book, it will put a smile on your face, Bernadette and Matt’s story is a fun one, there is drama, a little bit of angst, a whole lot of laughs and lovely build-up to a great romance. I was rooting for these two, I was happy to see them get past their issues and recognize love and what they had. Secondary characters in this book are great too. Kayley Loring, thank you for this great story and the pleasant, emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton are wonderful narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. You can hear the emotions of the characters projected in their performances. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen
Thank you @AudiobookObsession #AudiobookObsession #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
This was the first book I have ever read from this author, but will definitely not be my last!! I enjoyed it, I liked that these two had chemistry from the very beginning..Yes they annoyed me by not admitting how they feel, even though I get that they were trying to protect their hearts but some time you need to take a chance and when they finally did it was great…Enjoy!
