Temperance Levine had her entire world ripped away from her at eighteen. What had once been a life full of light and happiness was torn to shreds in the blink of an eye. With nothing left but a broken heart and painful memories, she ran away from the only home she’d ever had and tried to start over somewhere else. But the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and sometimes all you can do … do to heal old wounds is come back home again.
The day Temperance left him was the worst day of Hayes Walker’s life, and he’d spent every one since then merely existing. The future he’d imagined had gone up in smoke, and all he could do was take life one step at a time. But when tragedy brings Tempie back to Hope Valley, he knows this is the only shot he’ll have at getting his happiness back, and there’s no way he’ll let this chance go to waste.
After years apart, Tempie and Hayes are finally starting over and looking toward the future. But when their sleepy little town is rocked to its core, Hayes will be forced into a battle he never saw coming. Now he’s not only fighting for the future he always dreamed of, but also trying to protect the only woman he’s ever loved.

I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.
This is book 2 in the series and its mostly Tempie’s story and a big whodunit. Tempie is in town to take care of her aunt who is sick, eventually she passes away and Tempie stays to take care of things and decide where she wants to go next.
10 years before both her parents were murdered and so the aunt is all the family she had left. But she discovers she has people who love and care for her and that is why she is still around. Hayes was her boyfriend but she knew he dreamed of more and so she let him go, until one night he asks to meet her and never shows and that is the night her family is killed.
After that she runs away and she comes back to take care of her aunt and face her past and her love for Hayes. But who killed her parents and does it have anything to do with other murders taking place in town?
Hayes is a cop and he tries to figure it all out before Tempie gets hurt. This was very romantic and I was on the edge of my seat trying to know who was the killer and why he did what he did. The author did an amazing job writing this thriller/romance and I loved every second of it.
COME BACK HOME AGAIN is the second book in the Hope Valley Series. This can be read as a stand-alone, but there are a few threads from book one and I think it would be a richer reading experience if you read the series in order.
This is a romantic suspense that has a twisty story line, angst, sexy times and a group of girlfriends who prove you can COME BACK HOME AGAIN.
This multi dimensional story flowed from beginning to end. It continued to build on characters who (fingers crossed) will get their own books soon without taking anything away from the main characters.
This story held my interest from beginning to end.
I absolutely recommend this book and this author!!!
4.5 Stars
This is the second book in the series and if you haven’t started this series yet I highly recommend you do. I got sucked right into the story just like the first book. I like a good second chance romance. Tempie and Hayes deserve the HEA they should have had long ago. The chemistry is still so strong between the characters which adds so much to their story. My heart just broke for Tempie with her past and the loss she’s experienced in her life. I love the scenes with her and the girls. It makes me want to be part of that group of friends. This book took some big twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Shocked me a bit when I read them. This a book that’s hard to put down and one you’re sad to see end. I really can’t wait for more from this series!
Hayes and Temperance finally got their HEA!!! And it was so well deserved!!! These two were childhood sweethearts; their love was like a fairytale in their small town. When they broke up everyone was heartbroken. There was a tragedy along with misunderstandings that caused them to break up. 21 years later she returns because of another tragedy and her and Hayes run into each other. It was a slow build but after clearing the air and the several misunderstandings they gave it a shot. But the tragedies continued and strangely they were tied to Temperance. This just brought them closer together and made their relationship stronger. When danger was on their doorstep Hayes jumped right in to save his woman. It was a very difficult time but they came out on top.
I enjoyed Temperance relationship with Eden and the other women; they were hilarious!!!! I can’t wait to read more on this small town residents.
A second chance romance with lots of suspense to keep those pages turning and sending your imagination into overdrive of the “who done it” kind and I loved every single minute.
I was totally enthralled with Temperance and Hayes’ story. You could tell right off the bat these two were just meant to be together.
Temperance and Hayes were high school sweethearts but when tragedy struck Temperance left town and tried to get on with her life as best she could. Now 20 years later she’s back home, can she find her way back onto the arms of her one true love and when she finds herself the connecting factor to whats been happening around town can Hayes keep her safe.
A fantastic story and I’m looking forward to reading more from the residents of Hope Valley in the future.
Come Back Home Again, book two in the Hope Valley series, is Jessica Prince at her best! The second chance romance of Hayes and Temperance, after 20 years of being apart, was full of quick wit, fun, jealousy, love and a murder mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat! From the relationship between Hayes and Temperance, the friends and family, the murders and even the town itself, every detail was thought out so perfectly that I immediately fell in love with this book! I truly enjoyed the drama and suspense and I adore the fact that the two main characters are older and have had their ups and downs in life. I look forward to book three in there series and cannot wait to see where Ms. Prince takes us next!
Come Back Home Again (Hope Valley #2) by Jessica Prince is an emotional powerhouse of a love story. I truly fell head over heels for Hayes and Temperance’s book!!! Theirs is a 2nd chance at love romance with romantic suspense thrown in the mix. It’s a sweetheart of a romance that will have all the feels, angst, twists, turns, heat, some drama and humorous moments along with the passion and heat that makes for one intense romance read that is the most extraordinary read!!! I love the Hope Valley series and each book is unique and intriguing to boot. You won’t go wrong with reading Hayes and Tempie’s love story. Phenomenal!!!
My Rating: 4.9 stars ******
Jessica Prince has outdone herself. Come Back Home Again was the perfect follow up to Out of My League – Hope Valley book 1. I would love to live in this beautiful small town in Virginia. It is like something from the past that has been preserved, hidden in the mountains, protected from all the negative outside influences. Of course nothing is truly perfect even in Hope Valley. Mystery and Suspense is present everywhere along with long lost love and sexy small town heat!! Separated by 20 years of heartache and misunderstanding, Temperance must return to Hope Valley out of tragedy. When she returns to her hometown, to the family farmhouse, the job at the local diner, everything comes rushing back to her along with her feelings for her high school sweetheart, Hayes. Hopefully time and distance has healed their wounds enough to allow them to find their happily ever after.

A small town romance with a hint of suspense!
A wonderful, well written 2nd chance romance! Temperance & Hayes are so stubborn, but are completely meant to be. The love between these 2 oozes from the pages, the chemistry can be felt each time they are together. I love Hayes alpha tendencies, he is such a swoony character! Seriously sexy detective, how can one not love him! Tempie has more heartache in her life than anyone should have to deal with. I am completely addicted to these characters; main & supporting. I can’t wait for everyone’s stories. A definite must read story!!! Told in dual POV.
I knew I was going to love this series after reading the first book, Out of My League, but this installment cemented it as one of my favs and we’re only 2 books in!!
This is such a great second chance (with a touch of suspense) romance. Tempie and Hayes have that forever kind of love and are such a sweet couple. There is so much emotion, hurt, anger, misunderstanding surrounding their split 20 years ago but they were just kids. Now that they are older (and possibly wiser), they are able to see things differently. One thing that didn’t change is their chemistry. It is hot!
I love all the characters in these books and can’t wait to see whose story is next!
What a read! This book grabbed me from the start, and didn’t let go! I read the first book in this series (but it’s not necessary), and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Tempie. All of that changed when I found out the reasons she left town all those years ago. Hayes and Tempie were awesome together, and it was great to see them get the second chance that they most definitely deserved. Hayes was all aplha, and I loved watching him protect Tempie. Tempie was strong, which I LOVED. It was so nice to watch her defend Hayes as well. There were some twists and turns to this story. I thought it was going to go one way, and then it went in the complete oppoiste direction. The ending was just crazy! Once the dust settles, Hayes and Tempi get their HEA though. Hard fought, but so worth it! I CAN’T WAIT to find out what happens next in Hope Valley!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I
I don’t know how she did it, but this book is better then the first. And trust me that is saying A LOT!!!!
Hope Valley is better then a soap opera, YEP! I went there
If you think about it some of the hottest guys in bookdom live in Hope Valley. Hayes Walker is now and forever will be known as #detectiverhotterthensin, There is just something really amazing about this series. And for me Tempie and Hayes story is the biggest draw…
But the other part of this that I REALLY LOVED is the mystery that comes with this town
Tempie and Hayes- love them! Love this second chance romance. Jessica Prince takes us on a wild ride as Tempie and Hayes try to find a way back home together!!
Tempie broke Hayes heart as a teen and hasn’t seen him since. As she heads back home to Hope Valley after 20 years… they realize connection has never been gone.
I love the Hope Valley characters from the first book. There is great connections. The book is filled with twists and turns and surprises all along the way. I love when Hayes and Tempie are truly honest with one another and how they get to happily ever after!! Can’t wait for the next book!!!
Come Back Home Again was a sweet romance with a huge twist of suspense. Hope Valley folks are fueled by the town gossip. I crack up how fast their fire spreads. When Tempie comes home, she is welcomed with open arms. She is an amazing heroine with a past that shadows her. The nightmares and the agony of not moving on, I truly thought Tempie was another lost soul. Until Hayes.
Hayes was truly devastated because of the past. Tempie was his Achilles heel. No matter how much he needed to get her out of his system, Tempie was always in his heart. 21 years of being apart does not change those old feelings.
Come Back Home Again is definitely not all hearts and flowers. There is a lot of raw emotion that the characters must get over to find their HEA. With a lot of drama happening, I did not expect the plot to take a turn into the unknown. Right about 75% into the book, I did have an idea of our nemesis and the reason why to some tragic events happened. At the end, I was not too surprised, but the emotions coming from Hayes and Tempie will make you feel like you are seeing everything through your own eyes. It gutted me.
Jessica Prince surpassed my expectations. This story had me hooked and sinkered. There was no way I was escaping this book world until I reached the end. There were a few side characters that were introduced and I am crossing my fingers their story will be told. I love Hope Valley and cannot wait for more <3
There is no place like home!
This is definitely one of my favorite series ever, and I’m only on the second book. Come Back Home Again is actualy a standalone part of Hope Valley series, and now we get to really the story between Temperance (Tempie) and Hayes.
And, boy, what a story. High School sweethearts, they were the epitome of love and all we knew about fairy tales! But after a hige tragedy and some serious issues (no spoiler), they go their separate ways, and not only them, but the whole town grieves the end of that romance, and even after 21 years, people from Hope Valley still talk about it and roots for them to be together again.
When another tragedy brings Tempie back home again, a new chance is brought and neither of them can deny their chemistry, their their cravings for each other. Their love.
“I’d never fallen out of love with Temperance Levine. She’d burrowed into my heart when I was fifteen years old, and she’d never left (…) Because I couldn’t imagine my life without her, I’d spent the past twenty-one years in a holding pattern, simply existing instead of living”
Tempie and Hayes had a lot to work on, their chance was long overdue and they didn’t want to waste any more time.
A lot of questions needed to be answered, some mistakes needed to be forgiven and forgotten and their love needed to find its way ago to grow and florish.
They still had issues and arguments, of course, but they were mature enough to deal with them and respect each other all the time.
They were the perfect match and watching them grieve, get over, get up and find their ways to each other again was mesmerizing.
Tempie was so strong and resilient, specially after everything she went through. Hayes was a protector, a fixer and extremely loyal.
He was everything and so much more.
“I’d lost count of my blessings a long time ago when it came to this man”
But what they didn’t know is that the tragedies that haunted Tempie for so long were even closer than she expected, and it was out for blood again, her blood.
So while they reconnected, they also had to deal with an iminent huge danger, one that could put everything they were fighting for to reclaim in jeopardy. But being together, there wasn’t a thing they couldn’t face.
“And as I fell asleep, I did it knowing that as long as I had Hayes in my life, there wasn’t any storm I couldn’t weather”
I loved those characters. Not only the main ones, but the secondary ones, the ones we’ve met before, the ones we just did, they were all so great, so relatable, so real. They filled my heart and made me love this series even more.
I also loved how Tempie and Hayes dealt with their past, their present and what they expected from the future. The way they learnt from their pasts and were willing to love each other again.
Their journey was so deep and, as the plot took place, they grew so much. It was addicting and so beautiful to watch. I was glued to their story from the very first page.
My heart was so full by the end of the book, I was having a hard time saying goodbye (for now). But it gave some sense of peace knowing that their story wasn’t near the end. Nor was at the beggining. It’s right in the right moment, and at the exact place it needed to be. Home.
“The smartest thing I’ve ever done was to come back home again”
Wowza! Come Back Home Again grabbed my attention (and my heart) from the first words of Temperance and Hayes’ story and didn’t let go until the very end.
Okay, straight up honest here . . . I struggled a bit to read Out of my League, the first book in the Hope Valley series. It was hard to keep track of all the side stories and to really connect with the lead characters. But, OMG, I had none of the same problems with Come Back Home Again.
Tempie and Hayes are all grown up now—yet neither one ever forgot the other. None of their relationships lived up to what they had when they were younger. Neither one found true love again. So now that Tempie is back in Hope Valley—for good this time—they realize their love from twenty years ago never truly died. I loved how they forgave each other and moved past their hurt. I loved watching them fall for the adults that they are and how true their feelings for each other were.
I loved Tempie and Hayes from the start. Their second-chance romance was sheer perfection. And adding in the suspenseful elements rounded out their story as well as resolved some of the lingering issues from Out of my League. I now can’t wait for more in this series and am looking forward to Trick and Nona’s romance!
A second-chance, small town romance with a hint of suspense!
4 1/2 stars. Hayes and Tempie’s story was beautiful. A second chance romance 20 years in the making!!! Tempie fled Hope Valley after a VERY traumatic situation and hasn’t been back because it is too painful. She made a selfless decision so that Hayes could follow his dream and hasn’t really felt whole since she left. Hayes has also tried to move on but Tempie is his other half. So many feels. Once they started to really communicate, the love blossomed. A bit of mystery carried over from the previous book with added intrigue and an O M G moment that I didn’t see coming! I loved this book but I did have one problem. I enjoyed the fact that the H and h are a bit older, around 40. But as someone in their 40’s, I felt like this read a bit young. I was startled every time the age/time frame was brought up because the characters felt so much younger. Really just a minor hitch in a fantastic book.
