Temperance Levine had her entire world ripped away from her at eighteen. What had once been a life full of light and happiness was torn to shreds in the blink of an eye. With nothing left but a broken heart and painful memories, she ran away from the only home she’d ever had and tried to start over somewhere else. But the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and sometimes all you can do … do to heal old wounds is come back home again.
The day Temperance left him was the worst day of Hayes Walker’s life, and he’d spent every one since then merely existing. The future he’d imagined had gone up in smoke, and all he could do was take life one step at a time. But when tragedy brings Tempie back to Hope Valley, he knows this is the only shot he’ll have at getting his happiness back, and there’s no way he’ll let this chance go to waste.
After years apart, Tempie and Hayes are finally starting over and looking toward the future. But when their sleepy little town is rocked to its core, Hayes will be forced into a battle he never saw coming. Now he’s not only fighting for the future he always dreamed of, but also trying to protect the only woman he’s ever loved.

There’s something about Jessica’s writing that draws people in. As the second installment of her Hope Valley series, JP didn’t disappoint! This book is filled with all of the right elements! CBHA is romantic, sexy, and action packed! It had all emotions! The Best of Me is the third book and it’s already downloaded to my kindle!
If you love second chance romance with a bit of suspense, this is definitely for you!
second chance romance, small town romance
Temperance comes home and it is place she never thought she would be again, her past is here and the future she thought she would have but that changed in one night when her world was ripped from her along with the only man she had ever loved. Hayes had never thought he would ever lay eyes on the woman who ripped his heart out again but here she was right in front of him. She is in a danger she doesn’t know. I loved this story and how strong Tempie was and how much sass she aimed at Hayes, he had to work for it if he wanted her back. Such and amazing story about love, loss, pain, danger and everything in between. Highly recommended!!!
Temperance Levine and Hayes Walker were childhood sweethearts. When tragedy struck the little town of Hope Valley 20 years ago and Temperance’s parents were murdered, Tempie ran from the darkness and started over. Hayes’ life has never been the same. He never found love again and just moves through life in a fog.
Tempie comes back home when her beloved aunt dies but tragedy follows her back to her childhood home. Danger is back in Hope Valley. As Tempie and Hayes rediscover that their love never ended, can Hayes keep her safe as a killer is moving closer to Tempie.
Hayes and Tempie’s love was a story the town kept alive through the 20 years that they were apart. When Tempie came home, they couldn’t deny that they never stopped loving each other. As danger came close to Tempie, Hayes vowed to keep her safe as he refused to lose her again.
This was a sweet second-chance romance. I’m really not a lover of second -chance romances, but Jessica Prince did a good job with the story. You rooted for the couple to get back together. I look forward to reading more about this cute little town.
Come Back Home Again by Jessica Prince is the second book in her Hope Valley series. A standalone romance that can be read outside of the series but these books are so good you should definitely read them in order. Book two focuses on the police detective we met in book one, Out of My League, one Hayes Walker and the woman that got away twenty years ago but one he has never forgotten, Temperance Levine.
Tragedy pulled them apart all those years ago. One that was deeply personal to both of them but also especially to Temperance. But twenty years is a long time – there’s no way the spark is still there right? Even though neither of them has had a serious relationship to speak of in all that time, their past was high school and young and naive. But the sparks are still there. With the recent burglary case solved but the murder still unsolved danger creeps closer and closer to these two. While they rekindle their old flame danger lurks and puts more than their lives at risk.
Emotional and sexy with some great dramatic ups and downs – I loved this. Hope you do too. Enjoy!
Hayes & Tempie’s story is another EXCELLENT installment in what has fast become one of my new favorite series! This is a second chance tale of healing and forgiveness, and I love love love the characters & pacing! We get all the Alpha goodness we could hope for, a touch of sweetness, some fabulous steamy times, a sassy and mature heroine, and ACTION!
I fell in love with the first book, Out of My League, and was happy to see that the characters are just as well-woven in this book. Thumbs up & looking forward to the next couple’s HEA!! : )
After reading the first book ‘Out of my league’ in the ‘Hope Valley’ series, I got very curious about the second book so I decided to read it next. And just like the first book I enjoyed this story ‘Come back home again’ very much. The story is a great continue of the series but can also be read as a standalone.
I love reading second chance romance stories and ‘Come back home again’ is definitely one of those. In the first book we got little glimpses of Hayes past with Tempie and now we get the whole story in both POV’s. It’s an intense story filled with pain, hope and love.
I liked both characters very much. Temperance ‘ Tempie’ was this energetic, hard-working, friendly woman and Hayes was this hot, dependable, alpha man. I really liked the chemistry between them. You just felt that they belonged together so that left you wondering what happened in their past. The murder investigation and Tempie’s stalker created an extra storyline and some suspense. It certainly made Hayes more protective. The second characters brought fun into the story. It was great seeing previous characters back from the first book
However, the story was not perfect. There were a few writing errors in the story. Nothing too much, but still enough for me to notice. But still I enjoyed the story very much and I’m very looking forward to the next book in this series.
If you like Kristen Ashley her books, you have to give this one a try.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Second chance romance is my jam and Come Back Home Again is a grand one – because it’s 20 years in the making! That is one of my favorite aspects of the book, the characters are in their 40’s (though at times they seem quite a bit younger than that, but I digress) and they haven’t been together since their 20’s so it’s a reunion that took decades to come about. Temperance’s story is heartbreaking and tragic and though Hayes did regress into some man-hoish ways during their time apart, it’s easy to see how intense his love for her is (and is it really realistic to expect him to be a monk during their time apart?). I enjoyed the mystery/suspense aspect of this book and how it connects to Out of My League, but I’ll admit that the story was a bit heavier than I was expecting. That didn’t detract from my enjoyment of it and I can’t wait to see what Hope Valley has in store for us next. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
Come Back Home Again is the second book in Jessica Prince’s Hope Valley series and is a wonderful second chance story. This followed Hayes and Temperance. These two had been high school sweethearts, but after Tempie’s parents are murdered, she moved away. She returned after her aunt got sick and passed away. Things picked up pretty quickly between Hayes and Tempie, but there are problems that keep following Tempie.
I loved the mystery behind the murder. Jessica Prince wrote great characters with a good plot. I look forward to reading Nona and Trick’s story next!
Jessica truly knows how to bring all the feels to a book and this book was no different. I had all types of emotions from happiness to anger while reading about Temperance and Hayes.
Temperance didn’t really have the easiest life when she was younger but she truly made the best of it. However when thing got really bad she ran to get away from it all. This only allowed for her to never live her life to its fullest because of what she left behind.
Hayes is an alpha male that will do what he needs to do to protect those he loves and cares about. When he was younger and things didn’t turn out like he thought they would between him and Tempie he put everything he has into his career. What happens when the only person he ever loved moves back to Hope Valley? Oh and how will he protect her from the evil that is making its way into town?
Tempie and Hayes have a chemistry that everyone dreams about however, circumstances that could have been avoided pull the apart. Will their chemistry pull them back together or will their headstrong ways keep them apart.
This book was such a joy to read and I loved being able to see/read about all of the people of Hope Valley as well. I can’t wait for more!!!
***4.5 Stars***
Hope Valley is quickly starting to become one of my favorite small town romance series!
Come Back Home Again is book two in this new series by one click favorite Jessica Prince, however it can be read as a complete standalone.
This was a beautifully written bittersweet second chance romance.
My heart broke for both younger Temperance and Hayes!
I understood why Tempie thought she was making the right decision but it was so frustrating!
Ugh and the way young Hayes handled it just I’m made me want to sob and toss my kindle across the room!
I honestly hate that it took so many years for them to reconnect and for truths to be revealed, but while my heart hurt for so much time lost, it was also filled with happiness that they were fated to be together and FINALLY had their chance.
This book with its bits of mystery and suspense, amazing cast of characters, and the face fanning steam this author ALWAYS delivers is def one you want to One-Click and read TODAY!
5 I Didn’t See THAT Coming Stars!!
Holy Macaroni I finished this book and my mouth is STILL HANGING open! Why you ask? Because the person I thought was the bad, was SO NOT the bad guy!!! This is yet another reason why Ms. Prince is one of my go-to and automatic 1-click authors…she always keeps me jumping!!
Tempie has returned to Hope Valley to spend time with her aunt who is ill and the last person she wants to run into is the love of her life, Hayes Walker. Unfortunately, that’s unlikely given how small the town is and everyone shows up to give their condolences to Tempie at Reenie’s passing. The minute these two saw each other again there was a tension in the air. Their feelings had not waned in the twenty plus years Tempie was away.
This is a girl after my own heart in that she’s made a life for herself after surviving some unspeakable tragedies and coming home brings those feelings to the surface, but she also is being comforted by some of the best people in Hope Valley. She’s making new friends and reacquainting herself with old friends and enemies.
Oh Hayes is ALL THAT!!! He’s former military, on the police force and sexy and alpha as all get out! As much as these two don’t want to be together, it’s inevitable because they’re each other’s forever. There’s a reason they’re both still single in their late thirties. And when the damn finally bursts they are ON FIRE!!!
The problem is, is that Tempie has someone that seems to be righting all the wrongs done to her over the years and in a very evil manner. I was on the edge of my seat with this one because I was sure I had it figured out…not so much!!!
As the police and Lincoln’s security team goes about solving the crimes, Tempie and Hayes grow closer and closer hoping to have finally have their HEA…. But will it happen? Who’s the person creeping in her life that could prevent them from living their dream? Who gets hurt and who’s this person? These are all questions that will be answered when you read this next book in the Hope Valley Series. This is absolutely in my Top Reads for 2019!!!
Come Back Home Again is book 2 in the Hope Valley series but definitely can be read as a standalone. This is the second chance love story of Temperance “Tempie” Levine and Hayes Walker and their journey to their long awaited happily ever after. Their breakup over 20 years ago was definitely heartbreaking, even the whole town of Hope Valley thought so, but its Tempie’s story that really my broke my heart. She had gone through so much in her young life and then to go through the break up with Hayes, it was too much for her and she had to leave. Now Tempie is back and after a few uncomfortable run-ins and danger surrounding her, Hayes was not willing to let her go again.
Even though there were some angsty moments, I loved how they finally communicated and were reunited quickly. That first reunion was definitely hot! But all is not well, someone is not happy that they are back together and with Tempie finally his, Hayes is as determined as ever to keep her safe. The twists and turns were definitely intense. I was actually not expecting who the bad guy ended up being.
All in all, I loved the banter and chemistry between Tempie and Hayes, I loved the surprising drama, and the secondary characters were as usual, awesome. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series!
Come Back Home Again was so good! This is a second chance romance with suspense. Temperance and Hayes were the town’s legendary couple that imploded 21 years ago. Tempie came back to her hometown filled with memories of tragic loss. The quiet town is rocked by heinous crimes that seemed to have started when she returned… It’s a good thing local police officer Hayes is around to keep her safe.
When Tempie comes back home to Hope Valley to see her aunt before she passes, she never expects to have a second chance with her first love, Hayes. Hayes has spent the last 21 years since Tempie left town, regretting their breakup and that she was out of his life. Now that she’s back in town again, even if it’s temporary, he can’t help but to want a reunion with her, the only woman he’s ever loved, the woman he’s loved every day since they first got together.
“I’d never fallen out of love with Temperance Levine. She’d burrowed into my heart when I was fifteen years old, and she’d never left.”
I loved Come Back Home Again just as much as I loved Out of My League, the first story in the Hope Valley series. Tempie and Hayes make a fabulous couple – their love is palpable, obvious even from their very first interaction in Come Back Home Again. I appreciated that Jessica Prince didn’t serve up a lot of angst, and will they or won’t they get back together nonsense, instead, let their second chance flow naturally between two people who so obviously still loved each other. Linc and the boys are back on the scene, too, and it was good to see more mentions of them. I love the world Jessica Prince has created in Hope Valley, can’t wait for more! Perhaps Rory’s story, especially if it’s with Cord.
Come Back Home Again by Jessica Prince was an emotional second chance romance I devoured. Temperance Levine, Tempie, and Hayes Walker have been apart for a long time. Now she is back, and Hayes is not letting her go again. Swoon.
They were high school sweethearts, but when something drove them apart, neither forgot the other. Now Tempie is back and neither can deny old feelings. Their journey was not an easy one, but you could feel their love for each other on every page. I loved how strong and determined Tempie was. Hayes was caring and willing to go above and beyond for Tempie.
I loved Come Back Home Again by Jessica Prince and am looking forward to reading more from this series. There was so much our heroes had to work through and then you had the added suspense! I was captivate by it all!
Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy reading!
This book was amazing an amazing second chance romance with suspense in it. I loved how this story unfolded and the way things happened had me swooning over Hayes. Hayes is a great guy who loves Tempie with all his heart and he will do anything to protect her and keep her safe so when she ups and leaves it breaks his heart.
Years later she comes back for a family emergency and when she sees Hayes she can’t help but fall back in love with him. Only this time someone is determined to hurt Tempie and Hayes will go all out to save his loved one. He loves Tempie and wants a future with her so he will stop at nothing to keep her protected.
This is an amazing story that every romance reader should read. So go on and one click it and enjoy this great story!
This is book 2 of a series. Yep, I am thinking you should read book 1 first. This book has a mystery, action, romance, and a second chance at love. Temperance and Hayes were “the” teen couple of the small town of Hope Valley. This town is depicted as a place where you’d love to live. The writing style is easy to read. You just wanted to keep reading to figure out the mystery that needs to be solved. This group of people will enter your heart and grab it. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger and the author gives us a glance at the next couple to be featured in Hope Valley
Loved the story line of this second chance romance. Lots of suspense and humor with a great set of characters. Can’t wait to read the next one!
