Temperance Levine had her entire world ripped away from her at eighteen. What had once been a life full of light and happiness was torn to shreds in the blink of an eye. With nothing left but a broken heart and painful memories, she ran away from the only home she’d ever had and tried to start over somewhere else. But the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and sometimes all you can do … do to heal old wounds is come back home again.
The day Temperance left him was the worst day of Hayes Walker’s life, and he’d spent every one since then merely existing. The future he’d imagined had gone up in smoke, and all he could do was take life one step at a time. But when tragedy brings Tempie back to Hope Valley, he knows this is the only shot he’ll have at getting his happiness back, and there’s no way he’ll let this chance go to waste.
After years apart, Tempie and Hayes are finally starting over and looking toward the future. But when their sleepy little town is rocked to its core, Hayes will be forced into a battle he never saw coming. Now he’s not only fighting for the future he always dreamed of, but also trying to protect the only woman he’s ever loved.

Small town, second chance romance from Jessica Prince
second chance romance, small town romance with a hint of suspense
I’ve read almost every book this author has written, and this series has to be my favorite so far. Not only has she evolved as a writer throughout her books, she’s proven that she can take on the alpha man-messes-up-with-a-good-woman subject, add some suspense and regret, and weave a beautiful tale worth reading and rereading!
Temperance and Hayes had young love once, but events, misunderstandings, and tragedy tore them apart, and sent Tempie running for two decades. Now, she’s back to say goodbye to her last family member, and has the misfortune of running into the man she never forgot, much less managed to fall out of love with.
Hayes has also been living half a life, but he knows full well WHY. And now that his reason for breathing is back, he can’t help but demand the reasons behind her painful departure from his life. After all, he never stopped loving the only woman who has ever held his heart, and he’s a cop, so he can’t help being inquisitive by nature.
Tempie and Hayes find their way through the truth that shattered them and look forward to having a beautiful now, but they first have to solve a few problems. Who was behind Tempie being spared 20 years ago? Who’s been punishing people who hurt her then and now? And what is it going to take to make this person stop?
I love this series so far and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Okay. That was a fun read!
The whole mystery/suspense aspect kept me on my toes, the second chance romance had just the balance of sweet, smexy and angstyness and combined with the rest of the crazy characters who reside in Hope Valley, I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next!
It was hard to not end up falling in love and adoration with Hayes and Tempie. Hayes is that good ‘ole boy who left for a bit, but came back home and is more or less content with the way his life is going. He loves his job and while he may not have a huge group of friends, he’ll do anything for them. Tempie is quite sassy. She’s got a good heart and is easy to get along with, at least until you decide to make jabs at her because when that happens (depending on the jab) she has no problem putting you in your place without crossing any lines.
I really enjoyed Hayes and Tempie’s journey to their HEA. There was just enough angsty moments to keep things interesting, but they kept it out of the OTT realm for the most part and acted like the adults they are, instead of the teenagers they were, when they first broke up. The connection between them was intense and I just really like watching them reconnect and find out that everything they’d initially loved about one another were still there, but only better.
I must say that the whole mystery/suspense storyline was very well thought out. It was well woven into the fabric of the story and, I can honestly say that I didn’t see that coming at all, but it actually made sense when all the pieces were put together. And, of course, I loved the unique characters that reside in Hope Valley. Eden, Rory, Gypsy and Nona were so much fun and I’d love to have them as my girl squad. And then there are the guys, catching up with Linc was fun, but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of Trick and Cord as the series continues.
Note: While this book can be read as a standalone, there are a couple of things that carry over from the first book, so I think it would be worth your while to start at the beginning to get a good feel of Hope Valley and those who live in it.

Well as soon as it popped up on my kindle. I dove in and didn’t stop, except to sleep, until I was done. A perfect 6 star addicting and captivating story.
Tempie returns to her origines after being away for 21 years. She returns for the funeral of her aunt. Hayes is a police officer who now gets a second chance with her. But trouble will follow.
I loved this story so much that I devoured it. It was captivating and suspenseful. I was blindsided by the twist and shift in the story. I loved this second chance romance that was beautifully written with an amazing storyline.
I loved the amazing characters that were perfectly created. I loved that I got to see where the characters from the first book were at. Rest assured that this story can be read as a standalone because the author does give a quick recap to bring us up to date.
Story told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story and series.
Come Back Home Again is the second book in the Hope Valley series. It not only gives us the second chance romance between the town’s high school sweethearts Hayes and Tempie, but it is also filled with secrets and suspense as they race against the clock to identify and catch a murderer before it’s too late.
Hayes is a former Marine and one of the town’s hot police detectives. He’s very protective of those he cares about, and it’s important to him that he do a good job for the town he loves. When Tempie left him over twenty years earlier, she took a part of him with her, a part Hayes realizes is back now that she has returned. Tempie suffered back to back tragedies and left town. She became a nurse and dedicated her life to helping people. When her aunt gets sick, Tempie is forced to return and confront her past. She was young and angry at the time, but sees things more clearly now that she’s older.
I loved that Hayes and Tempie are so quick to talk about their past and have the conversation they should have had years earlier. It was obvious they had deep feelings for each other and shared a once in a lifetime love.
I enjoyed seeing all the secondary characters in this town again and I am truly loving this series. Trick’s and Nona’s book is next, and I’m excited to see how these two will become a couple. Both have been hurt and both deserve happiness.
Tempie’s story is a tough one and I felt so bad for everything she’d been through!! Thankfully she came back home, found her once-true-love Hayes, and got her second chance.
A little more gore than I expected, haha, but overall wonderful and compelling.
This book needs some serious proofreading. Lots of errors of all sorts. And the heroine was too stupid to live. It also seemed like the 40 year old main characters were pretty immature. That being said, I did enjoy the overall story. And plan to check out other books in this series.
