From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes a new emotional and riveting standalone love story. One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace. No names. No promises.Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain and grief. In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania. When my father … to return to Pennsylvania.
When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I’ll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I’ve fought to forget.
And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen.
Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can’t bury the past, and they’re right. Because when long-ago secrets are exposed, rocking us both to the core, I have no choice but to watch her walk away again . . .

A enjoyable story.
Even though I don’t usually enjoy books about domestic abuse, this one was not quite as gory as most. I enjoyed it.
Sweet story; I really wasn’t expecting that twist towards the end. I like how the author involved ALL the brothers at that point. And YES, I did purchase ALL the books for the other three brothers!!!
Did not read past page 10. Didn’t like the story
Another excellent book!
Could not get through this book. I don’t enjoy reading about abuse, I should not have picked this one. Not for me.
I loved everything about this story. Conner and his brothers grow up in a painful situation after their mother dies. They all leave as quickly as they can. The night before Conner is to leave for boot camp, he meets this woman, she is as broken as he is. They don’t share names, no promises, just a night of forgetting the pain for a little while.
Ellie wishes she would have asked the man’s name from that one night eight years ago. When she is faced with him walking with her daughter, those feelings begin to surface. Can she hide them from her husband? Will Conner remember who she is? Will a secret from Conner’s past ruin any future they might have together? What will happen when Conner learns her secret?
This is a first for me from this author, I will be reading or listening to more from her especially this series. I need to know what happens with the other brothers. I love the narrators Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber, they make the story come alive.
What an amazing love story. Connor is discharging from the Navy just after his father dies. Connor and his brothers endured years of abuse from their father and have no interest in coming home. Since Connor is between things he stays to fix the farm up enough to sell. The only decent memory he has is the woman he met the night before he discharged, he just can’t forget her. Well who does he come across a few days after arriving? The beautiful woman he dreams about. This woman is also in trouble and needs help. They are soul mates reunited yet so much to work through. This is one of the most beautiful love stories I have read. So much pain, yet even more love. This is fantastic and I can not wait to read the next three!
What an amazing story! Loved the characters and their struggles. Lots of twists and turns. I have read this author before and she is very talented.
This book is emotional, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
This book broke my heart at the beginning. The things Hadley witnessed should not be something a little girl should witness. The things Connor and his brothers went through when their mom died are not things any little kid should go through. Unfortunately, not every home is happy. In real life, there are homes where kids deal with what Hadley, Connor, and his brothers dealt with! Even though that’s not entirely what this book was about, this was one thing that stood out. The real ness about this story.
There is much more to this book than that… Connor and Ellie! Two people who are destined to be together! One of the most likable book couples I have read about. These two met one night and had the most amazing night of their lives. They didn’t give each other their names either. Ellie got married the next day and Connor left town to join the Navy the day after. He never had plans of returning. 8 years later he is forced back there to bury his father. When a cute little 7 year old girl (Hadley) is in his old tree house injured he helps her and almost instantly earns her trust. He takes her home and finds out this little girls mommy is the girl he’s been dreaming about since their one night together.
This story is about these two getting their second chance with some speed bumps. It is about them both overcoming their pasts and moving forward.
I love how this book gave me a build up to get excited for the next book too.
Romantics tend to be dreamers. Wistful, hopeful, and ridiculously optimistic. The irony is jaded romantics pretend they aren’t or fight these urges.
While traumatic life experiences can jade a person, they can also make them put up barriers to protect themselves. Ellie is a jaded romantic and that makes this story absolutely everything my Romantic self needed.
Pushing for the underdog. Fighting for love. Watching her blossom into the person she was meant to be.
Come Back for Me is second chance. It’s a happily-ever-after. It’s a real world fairytale complete with a villian and terrible people lurking in the shadows. There’s a curse and princess. But the best part is always the Happily Ever After.
And…if you are greedy like me, you look forward to the other 3 Arrowwood brothers stories!
I enjoyed this audio book. While not an easy topic, the characters are very lovable. Abuse is a horror like no other and both characters have some major baggage. When at eighteen they meet and have an instant connection, they find themselves dreaming of their moment. Their one moment. Eight years later they find each other amidst new horrors. And it’s still there; that connection. And it’s unavoidable. Fate? Maybe. Manipulation by the man who was the cause of so many nightmares? Most assuredly. Their happiness and HEA has many obstacles, one filled with so much heartache and loss, it seems insurmountable and unforgivable. But it’s time to make their own family and step out of the past.
I’m not going to lie but this book just made me fall in love all over again of Corinne Michaels. This is the start of a series that is going to tear you apart and make you fall for these troubled and sexy Arrowood brothers. We see Connor first, fresh from being out of the Navy Seals wondering what to do with his life and the father that well was not the loving father for any of the brothers. There are lies, dreams and betrayal but most of all a connection that has never been forgotten. We see Ellie, a married mother trying to find the strength to continue, fighting for a life she knows is possible for her little girl, Hadley. Two people, who years ago shared something so strong it is still there just waiting for them to reconnect. Corinne Michaels not only brings them together but shows us that even though we go through life with broken hearts, pain and loss we have to fight to make things right and move on. This book not only pulled me but being the first in the series makes you wonder how Corinne Michaels can make these brothers band together to erase all the bad memories into good ones. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Amazing start of new series. This is a beautiful second chance love story. This story is everything you expect from Corinne.
– Captivating and engaging Plot
– Realistic and relatable characters
– Flawless writing
– story & characters that stay with you long after the story ends
I literally binge read this book. I was enthralled and captivated with the story and Connor & Ellie. I loved Connor, the youngest Arrowood brother. Both Connor and Ellie are hurt by those close to them.
“Family is what matters in this life, without that, you have nothing. When we cross this threshold, we’re back home. We’re with those who love us and this, my sweet boy, is where you will always belong.”
The story had heartfelt emotions and was heart meltingly beautiful. I don’t want to give any spoilers but this is definitely a Must Read and such an amazing start of this new series. I am looking forward to reading the other Arrowood brother stories and find out how their stories would unfold and they get their HEA. I was excited and looking forward to reading this book since I saw the teasers about the book on social media and had already preordered my copy and was anxiously waiting for Jan , I was absolutely over the moon when I received the advance copy of this book from the author. It’s beyond what I had expected and took me by surprise in the best possible way. I can’t wait to re-read it again when I get my preordered kindle and audiobook copies . Perfect narrator choice for Connor & Ellie’s characters I can’t wait to listen Zachary Webber & Andi Arndt bring this story to life. Looking forward to reading more books in this series. Definitely worth all the stars
Crying-ugly-tears.
This book…….! Sometimes you read a blurb and think to yourself ‘this will be an average read’, but then you start and your mind gets blown, the feelings in this book, oh my goodness.
I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I’m not going to go into all of the detail, but you feel the pain, the joy, the heart of the book, it opens your mind, and gives you a moment where you’re rooting for the love between them, and you cry ugly tears.
I loved this book more then I can ‘articulate’ I do suggest a glass of wine and tissues on the stand by.
One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace.
No names.
No promises.
Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain and grief.
What can I say? I really enjoyed this book, it had so much story to it that was interesting and engaging with a twist I didn’t see coming. The chemistry between the characters was so sweet and captivating I was totally engrossed, This was a great read.
What I loved most about this story was how Connor could become such a caring, loving man after all he had endured as a child. I loved the bond he had with his brothers. His story really tugged my heart because he was everything Ellie needed and anyone could have wanted. He knew what was important in life and what was worth waiting for.
Ellie was another person whose life took a drastic turn when tragedy occurred. The author did a good job showing how it hard it can be to remain with a man like Kevin.
She and Connor found one another one night not knowing how intertwined their lives were or would be, and that made a truly remarkable love story of family, fortitude, and forgiveness.
I love pretty much everyone this author puts out! The stories and the characters keep me engaged every time! This book was no different. This was a little darker than her other books, but no less amazing once you got into the story! This is on my reread list for sure! I can’t wait until the next book comes out in May!
Conner and Ellie! This book was full of heartbreak and healing and well as some awesome surprises. Come Back for Me has become one of my favorites from the author. You can feel the connection between the two. And Hadley….she is the best 7 yr old. Sweet and super funny. 5 stars and a must read. So excited for the other 3 books!
