From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes a new emotional and riveting standalone love story. One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace. No names. No promises.Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain and grief. In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania. When my father … to return to Pennsylvania.
When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I’ll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I’ve fought to forget.
And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen.
Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can’t bury the past, and they’re right. Because when long-ago secrets are exposed, rocking us both to the core, I have no choice but to watch her walk away again . . .

Do you think you love Corinne Michael’s heroes? You’ve seen nothing.
This is Corinne at her finest! All the feelings, angst, love, funny moments, grief, personal growth, you name, she has it.
Connor is the youngest Arrowood. At first living in a loving family, he and his brothers start to experience sorrow, pain, abuse and disrespect after their biggest lost.
They faced so many ugly moments, endured physical and emotional bruises, and then one night things get even scarier. But for that moment, that terrible memory, Connor is put face to face with the one who could change his whole life, his savig grace, his angel. Ellie.
But life isn’t always that easy and it follows its own path and time. And only after 08 years of their most memorable night, they start to have the second chance. Only she isn’t as free as they both wanted.
Ellie faces her own demons. Struggling an abusive relationship, enduring insurmountable loss, she is living to protect her sweet daughter Hadley, even if her own life is at risk.
But this time, she doesn’t need to do it alone.
I loved so many things about this book. It was incredible to bring the discussion about abusive relationships. We need to talk about that and give voice for the people who can’t speak up for whatever reason.
I also loved Connor and Ellie’s chemistry and love. It was so pure, deep, intense. It was real and palpable. Connor respected her and supported her. Ellie calmed him and brought him the peace he needed. They were partners even before being in a relationship.
And don’t even get me started on Hadley. She was so adorable, smart, funny, sweet and so so brave.
Seeing them all together brought me peace, hope, joy and so much love.
Besides that, the secondary characters colored the story, giving shine and shadow, in the right amount to paint the perfect flawed picture.
And among them, I need to highlight the Arrowood brothers loyalty. It was a character of its own, fundamental to the story and basically the trigger for everything.
I was sad when the book ended, I was happy for how things turned out, I’m excited for the next books and I can’t wait to see them all again.
Audio review from January 2020
This story was so freaking amazing and wonderful!
I love the small tie in to the salvation series, I loved how Connor and Ellie worked through everything in their own time and their own way. I loved the connection that Connor has with his brothers!
Oohh and Declan and Sidney are going to be so much fun to explore from the epilogue!!
Andi Ardnt and Zachary Webber brought this book to LIFE! So so amazing hearing them with this book!!
Although not the most original plot line, this was a nice story with likable characters. Connor and Ellie have a good connection and a second chance for happiness. The story builds nicely, but then fizzles out when Ellie’s abuse issues with her soon to be ex-husband are resolved a little too easily. Abusers just don’t give up that easily in real life.
I’ve read a lot from this author, and this is not her best. I’d give this one 3.5 stars.
Connor and Ellie are damaged souls who meet on the eve of a life changing event in each of their lives. For one night, they lose themselves in each other. Then the next day the go their separate ways till fate brings them back together. Kudos to Michaels for handling the tough subjects of abuse, both childhood and martial.
In love with this book and I can’t wait to read more about the rest of the Arrowood Brothers. So much emotions reading this book, can’t help but fall in love with the characters. The story has everything, joy, sorrow, sadness, sweet, swooned, gut wrenching conversations and love. This author sure knows how to write a story that will be interesting, the words come alive on the pages. Amazing story.
Corinne Michaels can write! Utterly engaging from the start, Come Back for Me, has all the feels. Connor and Ellie find each other again 8 years after one magical night. Rather than give away a lot of the plot, I’ll say that this story has fight, determination, strength, forgiveness and a whole lot of love. It’s a beautifully written story you won’t want to miss!
5 SIZZLING ‘S
All the Feels with this one.
I loved Connor and Ellie’s story
It was heartbreak and completely mending.
The road to an hea was hard won, but the journey was needed to get to the amazing place they’re in now.
Loved the whole read
The Narration was spectacular
Corinne Michaels always has a good story to tell with special characters that are memorable. She has become one of my favorite authors.
Another great read by Corrine Michaels.
I listened to the audio version of this book. Im fairly new to Corrine Michaels, but I am really loving the depth of the emotion in what I’ve read so far. This story dealt with some hard topics. Triggers would be emotional abuse, physical abuse and isolating behavior. At times it was fairly graphic.
On the other hand, the hero in the story was an amazingly supportive, warm guy who wasn’t afraid to offer support and love. His relationship with his brothers was typical of brothers, but the love shone through.
Ellie was pretty much a mess. She finally starts to find her backbone, but it could cost her dearly. She’ll do anything she can to protect her daughter, but she needs help. It may be closer than she thinks…
Come Back For Me was a beautiful and emotional love story. I’m really looking forward to the stories of the other three brothers. I highly recommend the audio. The narrators, Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber are incredible!
I’m sorry, but barforini and DNF.
The teaser is weak as it tells us that they had a ONS and meet up eight years later,
SPOILER
but it doesn’t say the ONS was the night before her WEDDING.
Now, poor girl, she’s trapped in a bad marriage where she’s very unhappy. Tough toenails. The fact that her husband is a vicious domestic abusive doesn’t excuse her bad behavior not to mention that her daughter is not her husband’s. Give me a break and bye.
This is the 21st century not 1977. Please tell me it is not that difficult to go to the police regarding domestic abuse especially when you have a doctor already suspicious about all your bruises and sprains. And leave the moral outrage at the same doorstop that had you having sex with one guy the night before you married your safety valve.
Oh man. What a sweet read. I absolutely loved it. A mix of small town romance, family drama (all those secrets), and second chance romance. It’s amazing how similar the lives of Connor and Ellie were at different points in their lives. Both dealing with abusive, hurtful family members, both hiding the hurt and emotional pain. Fate brought them together 8 years ago and circumstances (and a truly adorable 7 year old girl), help them find each other again. Hadley is just so darn sweet, far wiser and more mature than any 7 year old should ever be. Fab writing, wonderful characters, and if I may say, I would highly recommend the audio version of this story. It was totally brought to life by Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber. Book 2 is definitely on my radar.
Come Back for Me is the first book in Corinne Michaels new The Arrowood Brothers Series. From start to finish I was completely captivated with this slow burn second chance romance!! Another hit for this author, on to the next story!!
Connor and Ellie’s story. Very, very good. Love this author’s stories.
Conner suffered through child abuse prior to leaving for the military. Ellie was currently living similar conditions with her husband both verbally and physically abusing her. Very well written and could feel their pain experienced. Since Conner had experienced abuse he was much better to help Ellie work through leaving her husband and then encouraging her to stand up for herself in the court and to seek a divorce. Good ending and great word building and character development.
Loved this book. So didn’t expect the twist. An excellent read.
Every in this series can be read as a stand alone but they are all awesome.
An enjoyable read
I loved this book! The one night stand that made an impact on 3 lives! The Seal, wounded and returning home is my first attention grabber, followed by his awful growing up story and the ridiculous clause in Dad’s will of returning home. The story is well told with the young neighbor’s daughter being a delightful main character. This book has family drama, as well as romance that is NOT explicit or ridiculous before the characters know each other.
Domestic violence and abuse are unfortunately a part of the world we live in. Seeing someone you love in that situation is heart wrenching. Our hero did his best to be supportive and it helps heal all involved.
