Move over Liam, there is a new book boyfriend in my life!!
Michaels has outdone herself with Connor & Ellie’s story!! She has an amazing talent of pulling you into the story as if you’re living the events right along with them. Their emotions and feelings are so palpable I had the chills and could feel my hair standing up.
Theirs was not an easy journey, there were plenty of obstacles and life changing events. The way in which Michaels depicts the realness opened my eyes and really made me reflect upon my preconceived notions on how I’d handle a similar situation.
Come Back for Me is easily Michaels best work to date and my top read of 2019!!!
These Arrowood brothers are definitely going to be the charmers for me this year!
Connor and Ellie’s story is the first in this series and let me just say that Connor is such a sweet, charming, handsome and loving guy who had made a pact with his brothers long ago about what they would never do in order that they wouldn’t be like their father. But sometimes opinions change and what the heart wants is what the heart wants no matter what.
Connor had met Ellie years ago at a bar and that one night is what haunted him for eight solid years because he couldn’t get her out of his mind. She was his angel and gosh darn it, after 8 years of not ever knowing who she was, what her name was or anything about her, he see’s her again and from that moment on, he vowed that even if he couldn’t have her the way he wanted he still wanted to be at least her friend.
But circumstances arise where she will need him more than just a friend, she would need him as her protector as well.
What will happen when secrets unravel? Will they be able to move forward and forgive and forget or will it be too much??
This was definitely a must read. Corinne Michaels has been a top read for me for a long time and her stories never get old or tiring.
I am so looking forward to reading more about these Arrowood brothers, I’m so intrigued about what each one of them will bring us!
This book is the quintessential Corinne Michaels books. She brings the emotions, heart, and a hero that you will fall head over heels with.
Come Back for Me is the first book in the Arrowood Brothers series by Corinne Michaels. I have been following Corinne’s books for the last few years and have loved them all. With that being said, I believe this one is my favorite. It hit me right in the heart. I don’t want to spoil anything and can’t really say more than what the synopsis reads so this should be fast.
Eight years ago Connor met an angel. A girl who saved him from the demons he was fighting that night. And the next morning she was gone and he was off to the Navy. He was the last of his brothers to leave their hometown and they vowed to never return. There were too many memories of their childhood in that place.
Then it happened. Their father died and they all had to go home to bury him and to sell the farm. The farm that was on the brink of collapse. Now, what was supposed to be an in and out trip was anything but especially after finding a stranger in their treehouse. One that belong to the angel Connor has been dreaming about for the last eight years. This time he wasn’t going to let her walk away. This could be the second chance and fresh start he has been waiting for. But, with all good stories, it’s never that easy.
I absolutely loved this book. It’s full of emotions, family, love, laughter, and friendship. I laughed, I swooned, I cried. Both Connor and Ellie have pasts to fight and futures to start. Eight years ago they just turned into adults. Adults who didn’t know how much their one night together would truly mean. It was supposed to be a night to forget their worries but it was so much more.
Quotes:
“What is one truth about an arrow?”
“You don’t think he thinks we can ride the cows, do you?”
I chuckle and shake my head. “I think he knows better.”
“Are you sure? He’s not really good with the cows.”
“You’re everything I remembered and nothing I was prepared for,” I say right before I kiss her.
Arrrrgh, this book is everything! From the very first page being introduced to these new characters I was hooked. Totally smitten with it all – the location, the storyline, the other brothers, the potential for what is to come. I picked this up and could not put it down until I had devoured it! Just brilliant!
The Arrowood brothers are so swoony and brooding. And Connor was PERFECT to kick off this series. We start to learn a little about the brothers and their sadness with their past, and the unbelievable feelings they went through as children. And as things have changed they are back, needing to sort out the family farm.
Ellie and Hadley are absolutely wonderful. I loved Ellie as a heroine – she’s soooo strong and fierce, and determined. And Hadley… what a wonderful little girl. I loved her cheekiness, how funny she was, how sassy she was throughout.
Corinne has totally hit the ball out of the park with this story. An absolute MUST READ! I laughed and I cried. In fact I spent some of it, in true Corinne Michaels fashion, SOBBING!! The angst, the love, the FEELS!!
I cannot wait for what is to come.
Connor and Ellie are my new couple goals!
I’m not sure if my heart will ever be the same after reading Come Back for Me. It’s heartachingly beautiful, a read that will stay with you long after you put it down. I can’t get this story out of my head, and it’s one of those books you wish you could read for the first time all over again. Connor and Ellie are made for each other. Their story may be far from perfect, but they are perfect for each other.
Because it’s a Corinne Michaels book, expect amazing writing, perfectly imperfect characters, angst that makes you break, and a story that puts you back together. I cannot wait to read more about these Arrowood brothers!
This is an amalgamation of everything AMAZING about Corinne’s writing.
There is so much heart involved it made my little emotions run riot. I swooned, I welled up, I smiled and even laughed.
The comradery between those Arrowood brothers is SOMETHING ELSE!! The bond despite living their own lives is intense and fierce.
Connor and Ellie’s story is going up there as one of my favourites from Corinne. Just a perfect story for the ages. Easily my first 5-star read of the decade!!!
<3
Connor is MINE!!!
Get in in line people because I saw him first and he’s mine! This is the start of a series about the Arrowood Brothers. Come Back for Me is Connor’s story and well, he’s claimed by me – so y’all will have to wait for the other brothers! lol
Corinne Micheals can write a Navy SEAL like no other. Connor isn’t just an alpha male who has endured life as a SEAL but is a man who is so much more. He’s lived a life of sadness, loss, disappointment, and loyalty to his brothers – both family and his fellow SEALS – a few you might recognize – Liam & Jackson to name a few!
He made a pact with his brothers, Declan, Sean & Jacob; an oath to never return to their family farm while their father is still alive. Upon discharge from the SEALS, fate would have it – that time has come and it’s time to go back. This place holds too many bad memories but his time there is essential.
This is one of those books that going in blindly is the best choice. Just take the plunge, enjoy the ride and swoon with the rest of us for this couple!
Can two people belong to one another without ever actually being together? Can you love someone without knowing them?
I love books, but often lack the time to read more than 3 or 4 of them a month. As a result, there are a number of well known authors that I have yet to discover. When the opportunity to read “Come Back For Me” landed in my inbox a few weeks ago, I decided it was finally time to get acquainted with Corinne Michaels. In this sense, she is a new-to-me author, and wow! What an incredible first impression she has made on me with this first book in the Arrowood Brothers series.
Connor is the youngest of four Arrowood brothers, and the one who seemingly draws the short straw after their estranged father dies. The brothers have inherited the family farm and will take turns living on and working the neglected land to bring it back to life. Having recently been discharged from the Navy, Connor is the first brother to arrive back home. Almost immediately upon his return, he runs into the nameless and broken woman who stole his heart eight years earlier.
Life has not been kind to Ellie. In the years since she spent one passionate night with Connor, she has simply been trying to survive from one day to the next. Her story is heartbreaking and suspenseful. She believes she is weak and without a friend in the world. Convinced she can rely on no one but herself, she’s been keeping her head low and planning her escape. Then, just as Ellie’s situation enters its bleakest period, Connor’s reappearance offers her a small spark of hope.
What unfolds in the pages of “Come Back For Me” is one of the best love stories I’ve read in years. With moments both beautiful and malevolent, this is a novel about second chances, small towns, and family ties. I loved the twists, turns, and incredible range of emotions they all put me through. Corinne’s writing is flawless and already has me longing to see this story onscreen.
While it may take me some time to work my way through Corinne’s catalog of novels, there is no doubt I will be keeping up with the subsequent books in this series as they are released over the rest of 2020. I really cannot wait to see what else is in store for the Arrowood brothers and their family legacy.
Five enthusiastic stars!
This book started off strong, but then it lost me a little. There were parts of the story I liked, but there was also a lot that didn’t quite work for me. I found it to be somewhat predictable. It was heartbreaking at times, but anticlimactic. It wasn’t quite the story I was expecting. I did love Connor though. The epilogue provided closure for Connor and Ellie, but left me hanging with Declan.
“Her smile makes my heart flip over in my chest. I want her to look at me like this each day. I want to be the man who makes my angel look like he could fly.”
Corinne Michaels always seems to create an entire world of characters that I fall in love with immediately. Connor and Ellies story is intense and heartbreaking as well as beautiful! Following their story as they grow together and go through the most heartwrenching experiences and come out on the other side was quite the journey. And Hadley added another layer that was innocent, sweet and the perfect piece of their puzzle. I absolutley cannot wait to see what she does with the rest of the Arrowood brothers!
Love, love, loved this new series by Corinne Michaels. I got a feeling this series is just going to get better and better with each brother’s story. This is the first book of the series and Connor is going to be hard to top. But if anyone is up to the challenge, it will be Michaels. While I loved Conner and Ellie, the real show stopper was little Hadley. I fell in love with her from the start (as did Connor Arrowood). This was a slow burner, with lots of heart and love. You will be taken in from the first page, and not able to put it down until the last.
Where do I even begin? Come Back for Me was so touching and emotional that my heart was tight in my chest from both the love and pain that bled onto the pages. One night ignited a passion that neither Connor or Ellie could forget. Neither one knowing the other’s name, but their one night together being the one thing that kept them going for so many years. When Conner comes back to the place he vowed to never return to, fate stepped in his angel reappeared. This is one story you don’t want to miss.
I absolutely love Connor & Ellie’s story! This book spoke to me in so many ways and pulled at my heart. I never wanted to put it down because I wanted, no needed, to know what was going to happen next. This is a definite must read!
Known for writing angsty love stories, Corinne has written a dozy with Come Back for Me, the first of the Arrowood Brother’s standalone stories. This is Connor and Ellie’s story.
The youngest of the Arrowood brother’s, Connor, is forced to face his past when his father dies, leaving the family farm to his four sons. His will is clear and has stipulations that none of them are happy about but agree to follow his request so that they can finally move on.
It’s been eight years since he stepped foot on the property he grew up on and eight years since he met the nameless girl he was never able to erase from his heart.
After eight years, Ellie is just as taken aback as her nameless stranger, when he returns to Sugarloaf to repair the family farm next door from her husband’s farm.
This is where second chances begin. Those possibilities might be destroyed when buried secrets of the past are revealed.
4.5 stars
Oh, the swoon! The beautiful, emotional, utterly romantic swoon! Corinne Michaels starts off her new series with a second-chance love story with a twist, a tortured heroine, an adorable 7-year-old, and a tormented but loving hero to die for. I loved it!
Connor Arrowood is a retiring navy SEAL, returning from deployment and dragged back to the family farm in the small country town that holds nothing but bad memories. He and his four brothers endured hell at the hands of their father growing up. Connor is the youngest and escaped as soon as he could into the military, but he still bares the emotional scars of all that he endured. The shining light in his life is the incredible one night stand he shared with a stranger right before he deployed, and the memory of that night plays over and over in his mind both thrilling him and tormenting him that he’ll never have it again. So imagine his surprise when he is forced to return to his family’s farm following the death of his father to fix it up to sell, and he meets the woman living on the farm next door – the same woman that he has been unable to forget from all those years ago.
Ellie’s world comes to a grinding halt when Connor comes back into her life. She never expected to see him again, and though she is secretly thrilled, she is dealing with her own hell. Her life is heartbreaking, and her only joy is her adorable 7-year-old daughter, Hadley, who forms an instant bond with Connor, meaning that there’s no way that the two of them are able to avoid each other. And when Ellie runs into real trouble, Connor is there for her and Hadley when they need him, creating the perfect opportunity for an emotional reconnection.
That’s all I’m going to say about the story, because you just need to dive in and experience this book. It’s a story of heartache and healing, of love, family and second chances, and of overcoming the past and finding your place in the world. Told with so much heart, Michaels has really brought the feels with this one!
“I don’t care if there are pieces of you that are damaged. I don’t care if every inch of you is scarred. Believe me, there are parts of me that are so fucking mangled it would take a miracle to straighten them. It’s not about perfection or being whole—it’s you being you.”
Ellie looks away, tucking her hair behind her ear. “You say these things, and I have to stop myself from falling.”
“If you fall, I’ll catch you.”
The romance! OMG, the romance! Connor is a dream come true with his patience, honesty, and huge, huge heart. He sees his situation as the second chance that it is, and he’s there for Ellie in every way possible, prepared to fight for the woman that he wants, and it’s so beautiful to watch.
“I can wait. I will wait. I’ll wait forever.”
Oh swoon!
Ellie has been through hell, but she doesn’t let that stop her when faced with the man that she’s never been able to forget. I love her strength and her courage to move forward, and the resulting love story is sweet, emotional, and super swoony.
Little Hadley is a total scene-stealer. She’s bold and brave, and the relationship that she develops with Connor is absolutely gorgeous! She’s a bright light in this dramatic story, and I loved her, and her own storyline that unfolded throughout the book.
We are also introduced to Connor’s older brothers who will each get books in the series. They are a great bunch – all very different, but with definite similarities and a strong bond, and with hints at their stories to come, I can’t want to read more about them! Eldest brother, Declan is next up with another second-chance-romance, and I am so freaking excited for his and Sydney’s story!
There is some drama, but it’s handled well, tying into the story without overwhelming it, and creating a beautifully emotional read. I really loved this one.
4.5 stars.
P.S. Happy shout-out, too, for the Liam and Quinn cameos – loved that!
I love everything Corinne Michaels. And I love Connor and Ellie story so much!!
It teaches us a lesson to love unselfishly and forgive even when it is hard. The book is beautiful. Connor is everything!!
Ellie and Connor have a past. When they reconnect so much has happened in their lives. I loved the storyline, how it was told, and how some things played out! I loved watching Ellie grow and change and LOVED how Connor never waivered in all he did.
Lines like this make you realize how talented Corinne Michaels is how how she makes us feel. “I can’t take a shot if I don’t break the bow, Ellie. I’m strong enough to hold off on releasing the arrow, until you’re ready.”
I could go on and on for how this book made me feel but all I can say is Corinne Michaels writing is magical!! And just go read this book right now!
My heart is overflowing with emotion. Come Back for Me is an incredible start to a new series. A beautiful love story that brought an abundance of feelings.
Connor is the youngest Arrowood brother. After he left Sugarloaf and entered the Navy—he vowed never to return again, but all that’s changed after unwelcoming news. And without even knowing it’s also brought him back to his angel.
Ellie is one of the strongest characters I’ve read. She was her own hero. She put her daughter first and never gave up, no matter how bad things got. Her strength and determination is what propelled her and I admired her so much.
Destiny had a hand in bringing Ellie and Connor together after 8 years. That undying connection they felt after spending that one night together all those years ago is still strong once they see each other again. Together they help each other face their past demons and overcome fear. Ellie and Connor are two souls that need each other and their bond is so strong and unbreakable. I was completely captivated and in awe by these two amazing characters. And I can’t forget about Hadley. That sweet and adorable little girl was simply the best. She had me laughing and also shedding tears. I absolutely loved how strong her connection is with Connor. Their relationship was just everything. And it’s no surprise that Connor, Ellie and Hadley all own my heart.
Come Back for Me had my heart from the beginning. A journey of finding inner strength and standing up for yourself. It’s about second chances that lead you to where your heart was always meant to be. And most importantly it’s about family and the bond you form that’s so strong that nothing will tear it apart. Corinne will most definitely break your heart, but she’ll have you hoping and believing. And in the end she’ll soothe and mend the ache and piece your heart together again. I cannot wait for more of the Arrowood brothers and what’s to come in this already fantastic series.
