From New York Times Bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new standalone set in her Everyday Heroes world. Just how hot will firefighter Grady Malone turn up the heat?Songwriter Dylan McCoy has been burned.By her boyfriend she found in her bed . . . with someone else. By her agent when she asked Dylan to keep their breakup on the down-low.
When she finds herself in Sunnyville, she refuses to let her new roommate burn her too. Still . . . a rebound has never looked so good.
That’s her first thought when she sees firefighter Grady Malone.
Sexy. Charismatic. Unapologetic. He’s a man who carries his own scars—the ones on his back, the survivor’s guilt on his soul, and the fear in his heart.
When an unexpected visitor puts their roommate status to the test, will their undeniable attraction burn out, or will they both take a chance and play with fire?

Two broken souls meet as roommates and didn’t know that there were just what the other was looking for.
Dylan and Grady meet through Dylan’s brother. Grady offers a room to Dylan after Dylan walks in on her boyfriend with another woman. What first starts as friends slowly morphs into more.
I liked Dylan. I loved reading about her growth as a characters. From beginning to end, you see she has discovered herself. Whether that was because of her relationship with Grady or just being more confident, it was wonderful to see.
My heart broke for Grady. A man who is so broken but something that can never be undone. He is merely existing and not really living. He hides his pain behind his charm and wit which I loved that Dylan was able to see through.
My favorite scene has to be the photo shoot. It had to be one of the most gut wrenching scene I have read in a long time but the relief Grady felt when it was over made my heart sing.

WHOA…now that was one H.O.T. novel! *fans self* Sorry Grant, Grady has taken your place, he is my new favorite Malone brother. I absolutely ADORED EVERYTHING about Grady and Dylan’s story. The playful joking between them. The real-life struggles that were completely relatable and realistic to the reader. The visceral emotions from the characters that I could feel through each word read. I can’t even count how many times this novel brought tears to my eyes or made me giggle or made me swoon…I was that invested in their story and emotions while reading. I was utterly moved by the raw emotion, the deep seeded struggles both Grady and Dylan had. The internal battles they had to face that were seemingly impossible to do on their own, but possible to conquer with the help and support of the right person.
COMBUST was about facing your fears, not wasting your second chance at life, giving love a chance, (even though it can be messy), and finding a way to heal your heart. What resonated with me the most in this novel, was it’s deeper meaning: overcoming fear. FEAR has two meanings: forget everything and run OR face everything and rise. Fear is not something you can avoid, it’s something that everyone is affected by, but it’s how you handle that fear that’s important. Both Dylan and Grady had fears and they dealt with them like most people do, by avoidance. But fear doesn’t lay dormant…it begins to translate into their every day lives and ultimately “suffocate” them and hold them back from living. Through the help of each other, they learn how to face their fears head on and begin to live again. I also wanted to say, there were many times while reading when I found myself reflecting on my own life and my own personal struggles, THAT’S one thing I love about Kristy’s novels…readers can connect to the characters on a more personal level. I feel that’s a true talent of Kristy’s…she’s able to capture the realism and translate it accurately in her novels time and time again.
COMBUST has easily slipped into my new TOP fave from K.Bromberg (aka Kristy Bromberg). She never leaves me feeling disappointed and is constantly proving to me WHY I insta-one-click her books. Kristy packed this novel full of her flawless writing, her trademark feels, moments of comical banter, and of course, fiery encounters that are just combustible! (pun intended *wink*). A MUST read!

QUOTES:
“The heart’s blind. It’s the head that causes all the trouble.” – Grady, COMBUST
“…love is rarely pretty. It’s messy. It’s complicated . It’s often ugly, but that’s how you know when it’s right. Pretty doesn’t always last. It’s the things you have to work at that make the reward that much sweeter.” – Grady, COMBUST
Another great book by Kristy Bromberg, so loved Grady and Dylan story, all their emotions and coming to terms with their fears to be together. Loved this book!
Love her books
Love this book so much! Dylan and Grady are a match made in K.Bromberg heaven! Can’t wait for the next Malone brother – bring me Grayson!
This book had me crying and swooning more times than I could count. Dylan and Grady are both healing from difficultly in their lives. But the way their connection from friends to lovers deepens while they comfort each other was so beautifully written. This book had all the FEELS and then some. And their chemistry was on FIRE! Another wonderful book from K. Bromberg you don’t want to miss!
K. Bromberg Never Ceases to Amaze Me!!!!
From her first release to this latest release, K. Bromberg delivers another 5 star read!! She has a gift to write a story that is so emotionally fulfilling that you cannot put it down once you start. The connection between Dylan & Grady is so real that it brings out a full gamut of emotions. Get your copy now and be ready to truly COMBUST!!
Another great read from one of my favorite authors!! K. Bromberg always delivers and makes you fall in love with her characters. Combust had me hooked from the beginning. Dylan and Grady’s story is about facing your fears and either letting them define you or you define them. Dylan’s story is one that I think all of us ladies can relate to. Grady’s story is one that we hope that we never have to face, it’s such a heart breaking story that not only breaks your heart, but melts it too. There are so many feels in this book. I can’t even put into words all the feels that I felt with Combust. I laughed so hard at times, shed some tears other times, but I rooted for these two the most. This journey that I was taken on is one that I look forward to re-reading and one that will stick with me for a long time. If you have never read anything from K. Bromberg I really encourage you to check this author out. I can guarantee that she will win you over the way she has me.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
Combust is the second book in the new Everyday Heroes series by K. Bromberg. Each one can be read as a standalone. We meet Grant, Grayson, and Grady Malone in Cuffed, but I can say Grady has stolen my heart.
Grady Malone is a firefighter. The adrenaline Grady gets when working is something he has always wanted. Grady is hiding himself. There are many sides of him… His smile… His dimples. He’s so damn sexy. His scars just add to his appeal even though it’s something he can’t see.
Dylan McCoy is the sister of a friend of Grady’s. Grady opens his home to her. Dylan needs a place to hide from her ex. Dylan is a songwriter, and she needs to write without the memories holding her back. Dylan has insecurities that run deep.
Grady and Dylan become friends, and they find a pattern living together. They find themselves dreaming of each other, but keep their distance as neither one wants that kind of complication. The sparks fly! The flirting and teasing makes you feel the tension between them. They both make a deal to overcome their fears.. there’s so much emotion they both feel.
“When I’m with you, I forget the bad. I’m kissing you because when I’m with you, my mind stops and the world starts turning again “
K. Bromberg makes you feel the emotions of her characters. She balances them both out through her words. She makes you consume so much emotion. I had chills when reading her descriptions of events which were indescribable.
*5 Stars*
Ok this one was great! I’ve read Cuffed, the first book in this series, and while I enjoyed that one, it didn’t capture me the way that Combust did.
This book. Grady Malone. Hot damn! There were many times I caught myself getting emotional and crying. The feels. Oh god the feels. Grady is everything! This man. Seriously. *swoon*
Clearly, I really loved Grady as a lead in this book. He’s been hurt, but he’s pushing through in his own way, even if he does need a bit of that help he refuses from others. When Dylan drops into his life, trying to get away from her bad break-up, she starts to get him out of his shell. Without even realising it in the process.
Dylan and Grady are perfect for each other, and while they each have their own hang-ups, the book flows really well and nothing seemed like it was dragging out. I loved the glimpses of Grant and Emerson, Desi, Grayson and the Malone parents. Great secondary characters really added to this as well.
There’s a body image message hidden in this one, and its refreshing to read about that. We’re all different, we have different body types, scars on the inside or scars on the outside, but what matters is who we are deep down.
This book has so much to it, and I loved it so much. I sped through it and I highly recommend. I’m quite looking forward to Graysons book too!
Combust by K. Bromberg gets 5 steamy and heartfelt stars! Dylan is a successful songwriter, if only she had that success in her personal life. She has been burned badly by her rock star boyfriend. As badly as she wants him out of her life, she is obligated to help him finish writing songs for his upcoming album. But, she definitely doesn’t have to do it where he is. So, she calls her brother and flees to the town of Sunnyville to finish her writing. This is where she meets sexy firefighter, Grady, who is also her new roommate, thanks to her brother.
She is done with men, but she can’t help but notice Grady, who wouldn’t with his charismatic personality and good looks. What she doesn’t know is underneath that nice package, Grady is dealing with his own scars. He soon realizes his roommate may be a problem, one he can’t keep his hands off of.
When an unexpected visitor shows up, Grady volunteers to be her “boyfriend.” What begins as a façade turns into much more. These two are so perfect for one another. There is nothing sexier than a man who is loyal and loves those he cares about with a passion. That is who Grady is. Dylan has trouble trusting men because of her father. Grady helps her see not all men are like that. He never makes promises he can’t keep. He makes her feel beautiful when she feels like she doesn’t measure up to society’s beauty standards. She loves him despite the physical and mental scars he carries with him.
The combined chemistry, steam, and romance make this a must read! As always, Bromberg romances pack an emotional punch, and this one is no different. Combust is exactly why K. Bromberg remains one of my favorite writers.
***Read and Reviewed for Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews***
I could not wait to get Combust in my hands.
Once again Kristy takes you on a journey and gives you ALL THE FEELS !!! I loved Dylan and Grady’s story!! It was everything I wanted and more . Did I mention HOT?? Let me tell you I needed a Fire Hose a few times !!
Combust is book 2 on The Everyday Heros series they are standalones
This is the second K. Bromberg book I’ve read and I loved it.
Grady is such a realistic and identifiable character. Real fears and internal battles.
Dylan is equally as believable but not quite so mainstream with her Hollywood career. No less human for her insecurities.
Both have body image issues. They can see the beauty in each other but not themselves. Acceptance and self-love is a journey all on its own. Now add in guilt and terror, also known as PTSD and Grady has some major obstacles. Dylan’s insecurities are amplified after her boyfriend (aka the cheater) is selfish just one too many times and his ho-of-the-moment drive her self-esteem to rock bottom.
They are so good for each other. Healing with encouragement and understanding. Showing acceptance and demonstrating their admiration of the other. There’s so much depth to these two characters, and I love them.
The supporting cast of characters adds humor and outright teasing, sympathy, support, unconditional love, and a kick in the pants when needed.
Combust is a perfect word to describe their chemistry, their passion. And as hot as it is, it takes a back seat to the journey of self-love and forgiveness that Dylan and Grady are taking. For after that, they can see and admit to their love for each other.
Combust is an amazing personal journey and I loved every moment!!
Is it possible to fall in love with a character so much that you don’t want to close the book when you reach the last page because it means saying goodbye, well I am telling you it is possible and Grady Malone is that character. This is the second book in the Everyday Heroes series and I didn’t think it was possible to have this series get any better after reading Cuffed but Combust will have you on fire. Grady and Dylan’s story will warm you from the inside out. Two people with scars that can’t see themselves in the positive light that others do. Their story is one of a perfect mix of pain and beauty, fear and courage, failings and success and heartbreak and love. Grady and Dylan broke my heart with the torment these two put themselves through. Combust is about not only finding true love but healing through the touch and comfort of that one person who can see deep inside you and make you realize your worth and that beauty is more than skin deep. This second book in the series is so hot and steamy that you will hear the crackle of the fire that rages between these two characters, it is inspirational and a truly beautiful story. I will warn you I cried for the anguish and guilt that was suffocating Grady and for the fact that these two weren’t brave enough to voice their feelings for each other. This book was my number one pick of all the books I read during January. Believe me if there is only one book you read this year Combust should be it.
This story was wonderful. I really enjoyed these two characters. This was a sweet, sexy, and an emotional read. I definitely recommend this book, this series and this author.
I also listened to the audio version and it was fantastic.
Another scorcher by K. Bromberg, jam-packed with all the feels. Boom! Two beautifully flawed characters and a soulful, touching storyline… I couldn’t have loved Dylan McCoy and Grady Malone’s story more if I tried! It’s so perfectly written, you cannot help but see the characters come to life in all of their nuances, with all their flaws and imperfections, right before your eyes, make you feel everything they do… their heartbreak, their combustible chemistry – a magnitude of emotions that will rock you to your core.
Dylan McCoy has enough. Enough of her love of her life being a whiney (sorry, but it’s true), cheating, narcissistic dumbaxx. But as dedicated and tenacious she is in her career, she reluctantly agrees to fulfill all her contractual agreements of writing songs with and for said cheating dumbaxx – a.k.a. world-famous rock star Jett, while still needing out. Out and away. Rather yesterday than tomorrow. And a change of scenery just might be exactly what the doctor ordered…
Grady Malone is a firefighter. A firefighter who is so guilt-ridden, so struggling with his inner turmoil of heartache, so haunted by his tragic past, by things he wish he could change but simply can’t, that he is rather existing than living his life, keeping his bruised and battered heart as closed off to others as himself. But still, the good-hearted soul of a man that he is, when his best friend calls to ask him if his little sister could stay in his spare room, he immediately agrees…
A heroine as determined and talented in her career as she is doubtful and insecure in her love life and a hero so wounded and lonely, yet such a sweet, selfless and caring man – a guaranteed swoon-worthy combination! And when these two come together things get explosively hot! But what these two share is more than chemistry, it’s friendship, a deeply-rooted understanding for one another, even with Dylan wanting nothing to do with a firefighter and Grady not wanting to involve anyone in his life. And still, a breathtakingly beautiful romance unfolds: Them sharing an incredible banter and finding solace in each other – all of it makes for one astonishing journey of healing and love.
COMBUST is that kind of love story that is the reason I’m reading romance. It’s perfection. A story destined to capture your heart. One sentence at a time.
FEAR – Face Everything And Rise…..
Wow, that quote totally sums up this brilliant story from K. Bromberg!
This story of Dylan and Grady is just wow, just everything!
Dylan is my spirit animal, I swear! She has such issues, and it takes someone like Grady to see past them to the beautiful person she is. I love how she was described in the book, no petite gal here! One of my fave quotes from the book “I have mermaid thighs! Thighs that touch from the top all the way to my knees!” Gotta give some love to us curvy girls!
Grady, oh swoon! Grady carries his own scars and issues and you can feel his guilt and shame and you just want to love on him all the harder for it!
There is laughter in this story, I mean come on Petunia!! (You’ll figure this out when you read it!) There are tears, there is a firetruck worth of steaminess and there is love, such beautiful love!
K. Bromberg is a fantastic author and I remember correctly, (I double checked on Passionflix) she has some books that are going to made into movies! Thank you for your wonderful stories!
Combust is the second title in the Everyday Heroes series, but in my opinion it could easily be read as a standalone. Combust is a slow burn romance, of two slightly battered souls who form a friendship, and in the process find peace and solace from the pain of the past. that features Dylan McCoy and Grady Malone.
Although this is the second title in the Everyday Heroes series, the story line is not quite as confronting, and in true Kristy Bromberg fashion Combust is packed full of emotion, with heartbreak, hurt and loss. But there were also moments of levity, and humour, heat, heart and steam. I went through a gamut of emotions from everything from giggles, to smiles, to tears. I adored the strong friendship and bond that formed and the camaraderie that Grady and Dylan share.
Dylan is a song writer, she’s sweet, sexy and reserved and flusters very easily. She’s incredibly endearing, and very relatable, I could see myself in this shy, curvy, reserved and self-conscious character.
Grady, much like the other members of his family serves to protect, being a fire fighter. He’s just what your looking for in a book boyfriend. He’s kind, considerate, thoughtful, and sweet. Despite the fact that he is honest, he hides behind his charismatic, and cheerful demeanour, he avoids the source of his shame and vulnerability. Grady is endearing and curious, and has a tendency to use humour to diffuse situations that are uncomfortable or fraught with tension or angst.
Both characters are quite similar in the fact that they feel inadequate and suffer from insecurities that revolve around their appearance. Their fears hold them back, in each other’s arms they don’t let their fears control their thoughts, feelings and actions.
Their banter is fun and teasing, full of flirtatious remarks, and sexual innuendo. Despite the fact that their attraction in undeniable, hurt and scars of the past hold them back. At times the chemistry this pair share is palpable. The connection they share is believable and the love scenes are very hot and steamy.
I loved the cameo appearances of Grant, Greyson, Emerson and Desi and cannot wait for the next title in this well written and captivating series. Honestly some of the subject matter in Cuffed was not easy to read, but Combust although emotional and poignant also has light hearted moments, that had me reading this book in just one sitting.
“Fear has two meanings….Forget everything and run. Of Face everything and rise.”
Grady and Dylan have skyrocketed to one of my all time favorite book couples. I can not say enough good things about Combust. It has the sexiness you always expect combined with all the feels you love to read from a K. Bromberg book.
READ THIS BOOK NOW!!! You can thank me later.

Dylan McCoy is a successful and very talented song writer who is currently running away from heartbreak. She found her rock star boyfriend Jett Kroger in bed with another woman. Unfortunately she has a contract to finish writing all the songs for his upcoming album and she has to honor it. To do that though, she calls on her brother Damon to help her find a quiet place to work away from Los Angeles. Since Damon and his wife have twin babies, their home is a busy one and not ideal for a creative song writer so Damon calls upon his friend Grady Malone who has a spare bedroom and is away for long stretches of time for his job as a firefighter. Hence Dylan finds herself in the town of Sunnyville looking out over vineyards and away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Grady Malone is a firefighter who was injured on the job two years ago in a fire. Even more tragic is the huge loss of his best friend and fellow firefighter, Andrew (Drew) Brooks, who didn’t survive that fire. Grady has recovered from his injuries but his scars , both physical and mental remain a burden he carries with him every day and on into his nightmares.
Dylan too has her own baggage filled with issues. She’s had years hearing comments from people who are stick thin or just uncaring, comment about her curves, giving her the feeling she’s overweight. In addition she’s a songwriter who doesn’t feel her voice is good enough to sing her own songs.
Ms. Bromberg weaves these issues into a heartfelt, entertaining story of love and loss, of family and friends, of finding the path to tackle those issues and maneuver through the damages both of these people have suffered to find themselves and each other and build a future that’s worth living, NO MATTER THE COST
