Dylan and Grady were perfect for each other. Both a little broken from their past that were put together to heal one another. Second chance love for a first time couple. Perfect story.

What to say about this book apart from that I loved it.
In this book, we meet the middle man of the Malone brothers, Grady, a sexy fireman with a sensitive soul and a heart of gold, tormented by past events that happened during his work from which he can’t escape. And also Dylan McCoy, an extremely talented composer but she has no self-confidence and a broken heart. She knows how to get what she needs but she just needed a little push to believe in herself after no one else did until Grady showed her. Grady, on the other hand, is a very strong man who needs her to remember why he does what he does.
It was wonderful and very emotional. You put yourself in the shoes of both protagonists and you get to feel the reason for their actions. With Grady, I felt a strong connection because the reason that leads to being that person is not other than a tragedy but also overcoming and removing those fears when in fact it is very hard to face them.
In the previous book with Emerson, I felt a strong connection due to his past situation, but in this book, I felt with Grady, not only because of his past also because of his present and how he cannot feel happy about it. That doesn’t take away Dylan and his problems, but I felt closer to Grady.
Speaking of Emerson, I loved that in this book she was who took the blindfold from both of them and told them things in their faces.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by one of my favorite authors and after reading it, I know why I love her books. The way she writes and can get you to feel the story she tells, is just amazing.
After being cheated on by her boyfriend, singer/songwriter Dylan seeks refuge at a friends place where she can write on the songs she needs to for her ex. But it isn’t easy when the record label is threatening to take it all away and having her own securities to handle. But the more time she and sexy firefighter Grady are spending together, the more she seems to be feeling like the woman she always was destined to become…
Grady has lost one of his best friends during a fire and has the scars to overcome. Never has he let anyone close to him to see the scars and to lose anyone else in his life. But somehow Dylan finds a way to get his walls to come down. But will it be enough to get him to stop doubting himself and start living again?…

OMG yet another fantastic book from K Bromberg. Every time i pick up one of her books, I am reminded why i love her writing so much. It blows me away, it leaves me speechless and the urge to devour it in one sitting is always there. Kristy’s way of making you feel everything in her words is second to none and Combust certainly had all this in bucket loads.
Dylan arrives in Sunnyvale to escape the mess she has left behind in LA – a cheating rockstar boyfriend. Not only was he her boyfriend but as a songwriter, she was also working with him on his album something that she still has to do despite everything that happened.
Grady Malone – hot damn he is one sexy man with an 8 pack of abs to boot. Grady is a firefighter, it was all he ever wanted to do and he is literally every woman’s fantasy and more. But underneath that sexy exterior is a man fighting demons of his own, a past that is haunting him everyday.
Grady & Dylan are both like two broken ships. She is suffering from her own personal insecurities and from the break up with her boyfriend and he is fighting the nightmares and trauma from his past that has left him scared. When Grady offers Dylan a place to stay as a favour to her brother he never expected things to turn out the way they did. Bit by bit they form a friendship first which develops as time goes on into more than they either of them thought it would and all the way through us as the reader are left wondering if they will get the ending they both deserve.
This is certainly another triumph of a book from K Bromberg. You can’t help but fall in love with Grady and everything he is. Combust is hot, it will keep you turning the pages right up until the end and well damn who doesn’t love hot firefighter.
Dylan and Grady’s story is a slow burn, one that starts with the banter and flirting early on; but it’s only when Dylan’s douchbag ex turns up at the house that Grady and Dylan agree to pretend to be in a relationship themselves, that things heat up. Combust for me was a fiercely real read, like in Cuffed I loved any scene where the Malone brothers were together, winding each up as brother do; moments like this brought many smiles to my face. Kristy also knows how to write great parent figures and Grady’s heart to heart talks with his father were touching, providing more of Kristy’s amazing quotes “Face everything and rise” for example.
Then we get to know the real characters – Dylan she is insecure and has body issues like most of us woman have, she is real and curvy and talented with a heart of gold. Grady after the event that altered his life, is scarred both physically and emotionally. There are moments in the book of pure acceptance, heartbreak between characters and as a reader absorbing the words on the page. There were several special moments that brought tears to my eyes and were surprisingly poignant.
Grady’s issues and how he has been affected by what happened that day surprised me, I was captivated by the depth of the story and moved by how both Grady and Dylan supported each other selflessly when they both needed it the most. Their relationship, a beautiful one and built through a pretence of a fake relationship, soon turned into so much more – in true Kristy fashion of course.
Combust was another great read from Kristy for me and I am so looking forward to meeting the final Malone brother Greyson in Worth The Risk soon
Oh my lord I love love love love Grady and Dylan.. I don’t even know what to say except this is a must read!! I absolutely love this book!!
Grady and Dylan’s story is so touching, emotional and intense. I just loved everything about them and their story. Combust is well written and relatable. Every time I read a K. Bromberg book, I always feel like she does a fantastic job of making me feel like I want to be a part of the story. Although Combust can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading Cuffed (Grant and Emerson’s story) and I can’t wait to read WorthnThe Risk.
NO SPOILERS!
Combust was a sexy, heartbreaking/heartwarming, emotional, and beautiful standalone contemporary romance, and I absolutely loved it! K. Bromberg gets better and better with every book she writes, and the storyline and characters she created in Combust completely blew me away. Grady and Dylan’s story was another phenomenal addition to the Everyday Heroes series, and I can’t wait to read Worth the Risk!
The storyline was amazing. K. Bromberg is an extraordinary storyteller, and her books always leave me happy, satisfied, and craving more. The messages behind her love stories are very powerful and important, and always make the reader think and feel so much. Combust was a beautiful tale full of heart, heat, humor, healing, and facing your fears and learning to overcome them. It was sexy, it was heartfelt, it was emotional, and above all else, it was beautiful and unforgettable. The plot was incredibly unique, and I was immediately sucked in from the start. I was completely engaged from beginning to end, and loved how everything progressed throughout. K. Bromberg has become one of my top favorite authors, and I can always count on her to deliver the happily ever after I so desperately want for the characters that have stolen a piece of my heart. K. Bromberg has created something truly special with the Malone brothers and Everyday Heroes series, and it will definitely be a favorite of mine.
The characters were phenomenal. I loved Grady Malone and Dylan McCoy with all of my heart, and they have been my favorite characters from K. Bromberg so far. Grady and Dylan were sweet, kind-hearted, and had easygoing and lovable personalities. They both had flaws and demons to overcome, but honestly, who doesn’t? Grady and Dylan were broken in different ways, but at least they found and had each other. I loved their red-hot chemistry together and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading Combust from both Grady and Dylan’s point of view, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. Most of the secondary characters were amazing as well, and I loved getting to see a few familiar faces from time to time. Grady and Dylan’s story was an emotional yet beautiful roller coaster ride I won’t soon forget, and it was a true pleasure going on this journey with them. The conclusion was excellent and made me extremely happy.
Combust was another sexy, beautiful, and emotional MUST READ love story from K. Bromberg, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! The author did an outstanding job with Grady and Dylan’s story, and I was very pleased with the outcome. Combust has been my favorite standalone in the Everyday Heroes series so far, and I can’t wait to read Grayson Malone’s story in Worth the Risk!
Two In. Two Out. Face everything and rise.
This second book in the Everyday Heroes Series is Grady and Dylan’s story. Dylan is a down on her luck songwriter who comes to the town of Sunnyville to write and her roommate is sexy firefighter Grady Malone. Sparks sizzle between the two and they decide a physical relationship is good but hearts have a way of getting involved. This story is so much more than two people coming to love each other it’s also about finding yourself and being happy with the person you are on the inside and on the outside. It’s about overcoming your fears and learning to except that life is sometimes cruel but that it can also be so rewarding! Kristy has always wrote books with real life struggles and how each person faces them differently. If you haven’t picked of one of her stories you are truly missing out.
4.5 stars
K. Bromberg did it again. She made me feel. She made me hope. She made the Malones my dream. Three brothers with separate stories but each one will steal your heart.
Combust is the story of the youngest Malone. He will melt your heart and ignite your fire. All while making you believe it’s all in your mind. Fears drive these two. Unless they take control- that’s all that ever will.
My short 2 cents.
Every time I finish a Bromberg book, I have a big ole smile on my face. I don’t know, I just think each book she puts out gets better and better. I’m really loving these Malone men, I can’t get enough
Damn! I will never get tired of Kristy stealing my heart and mind with her stories. One after the other, keep strengthening her magic powers and makes me love her pen even more than before.
COMBUST as you may know ’til now, is the second installment in Kristy;s new series, Everyday Heroes, and tells the story of Grant’s (CUFFED) younger brother, Grady Malone; the hot firefighter we all needed to know when he guest starred in his brother’s unfolding love story back in CUFFED. But now, his turn has finally arrived, and along with his Dylan, they totally blew my mind off.
I really can’t figure out where should I start talking about this story. It is such a perfect journey of emotions and life lessons that whichever word I choose won’t make it justice. This books has “you must read it to feel it” written all over it. My heart kept giving up and the rest of me kept surrendering to all the delicious electricity this couple was charging me with. The love that was developed between Grady and Dylan only as epic and soul-scarring I can catalog it inside my head. It was amazing all the levels of the different feelings it went through until it reached the epilogue; from funny, playful and hot to serious, emotional, heavy and steamy to return to rewarding, swooning and heart-warming in its finale. But what made it even greater and got stuck in me was the process & the personal obstacles they had to go through to finally reach each other in the end. And what an end, really!!!!!!!
Moment after moment, Grady and Dylan was proving to anyone who was watching (and reading) how real they were and that they are truly two of the most spectacularly complex and well-written characters that were ever written. Not only because of the hardships and traumas – and trust me when I say that those traumas were the REAL DEAL – they had to go through and bear to live for a long time, but also because they were standing tall and kept fighting what life was throwing at them. Sure they were countless times that both were succumbing under the weight of their past, but they kept rising up little by little just because they were absorbing the strength the other was emitting without neither realizing it. My heart broke so many times for both Grady & Dylan when they were confessing to each other the moments which haunted them every moment of the day. Which only made their bond that much deeper and unbreakable and their HEA that much more rewarding and meaningful. And the combination of music & fire couldn’t be presented in a more beautiful way.
And then there was that incredible part at the first quarter of the story where Dylan and Grady were exchanging those m a g n i f i c e n t innuendos about the fire and the firefighters. To say that my body didn’t know which reaction should go for, pee itself from laughing or throw its panties and every piece of clothing off it, would be and understatement. I must have read them at least 5 times before I continued the story. They were simply too hilarious and perfect to pass by and read only once. Trust me, their effect is out of this world. Pure Bromberg magic, I’m telling you!!
And let’s not forget all those unforgettable scenes that have been wrote for this love and also the priceless moment when Grady told Dylan he was building a playroom and her mind went we all know where… :p And if that wasn’t enough, she goes and adds Petunia; Grady’s pig of pet. Can even your mind absorb this information? Because mine still has a field day with it. I had to put on the brakes when I first read her kind. I was sure for awhile that I was reading it wrong and instead of pig I was reading big. But no, it was a p alright. An oh my if I didn’t want to be a fly on the wall when she was making her BIG appearances. Honestly, the ways Bromberg’s mind works are explosive.
And yes, Grant & Emerson are back!!!! Stronger, more beautiful and more in love than ever! I really can’t say more because I don’t want to spoil anything and when it comes to them, very important things are happening!!! <3
Kristy as it seems is an unstoppable machine of love stories. Each and every one she has written gets so deliciously stuck in all of you that isn’t even funny. Her book boyfriends are simply some of the best. And when I think that she can’t surpass her earlier ones, she presents a new one who checks & nails all the boxes. And we are missing only another Malone brother. I can’t even imagine how she is going to portrait him but judging from his two other brothers, a whiplash of more perfection is awaiting me when COCKPIT gets released. Jesus!
This Book was FIRE!!! I so much more than Loved it! It was so Damn Good!! Deserves way more than 5 stars! I have a new favorite Malone brother, move aside Grant, because Grady instantly charmed me! I loved his dirty mind and how he riled up Dylan. Grady is suffering from PTSD and the scars that haunt him everyday, he covers it with charm and women. My heart bled for him, this book was so real, I felt so connected. Dylan needed time away from her home and her cheating ex, she winds up being Grady’s Roomate. A Hott as Hell Firefighter and a songwriter, the heat between these two about melted my kindle! I Loved everything about them, they both have insecurities, but together they overcome their fears and give into Love. This book has so much heart and raw passion! I don’t do this book justice! It is Everything! I laughed, cried and got hot under the collar! I read this book in one sitting, I just couldn’t stop reading once I started. I’m Talking Hook, Line and Sinker! Bromberg knows how to write an all consuming, emotional romance that will burn you to your core! “Two in, Two out”
Grady Malone is one hot firefighter
If you thought Grant Malone was steamy, you will straight up sizzle with Grady Malone!
Dylan McCoy is a songwriter with a rock star ex, THE Jett Kroger. And it just happens that she has to pretend to still be together for the sake of the upcoming record for the executives.
Grady Malone is a firefighter with a scary past that haunts him two years later! He made a promise and has every intention in keeping that promise! When Dylan needs to escape LA and Jett, she becomes Grady’s roommate.
Dylan opens up to Grady, Grady opens up to Dylan and a friendship is made. But when Jett surprises Dylan with a visit, she tells Nett she’s involved in Grady.
What happens to the songwriter when life imitates art?
“Because love is rarely pretty. It’s messy. It’s complicated. It’s often ugly, but that’s how you know when it’s right.”
As an avid reader, there is nothing that I love more than watching an author grow over time. I remember 5 years ago this author named K. Bromberg wrote a little book called Driven. To be honest, Driven wasn’t my favorite book. And the Driven series isn’t one of my favorite series at all. However, Kristy has continued to grow and her writing has captured me!
#TheMaloneBrothers *sighs*
I am loving K. Bromberg’s latest work. Her Everyday Hero series is so good!! Each book is a standalone book featuring a different brother from the Malone family. First, we had Cuffed! Now we have Combust! In Combust we get Grady Malone & Dylan McCoy’s love story.
I fell in love with the Malone family in Cuffed. Grady & Dylan’s story made my heart full! Dylan needs to get away from her rockstar boyfriend, so she goes to Sunnyville. She ends up finding a roommate with benefits in Grady McCoy. But you know that a good story would not end there… Of course, there has to be some drama and hot sex! K. Bromberg delivers!!
I feel like the Malone boys are an experience that one can only enjoy by reading them. So, I will not give anything more away in this review. Know that you should not just read Combust, but you need to read Cuffed as well. Oh, and did I mention that Cockpit will be coming soon as well?!?! YES, there is yet another Malone brother coming!!
K. Bromberg, I love watching your work grow. You deserve all of the success in the world. Well done with Combust!!
Firefighter Grady Malone carries his scars not only on the outside but on the inside as well, he’s sexy, funny and unapologetic, he also suffers the pain of survivors guilt and that’s why he will never be able to commit to anyone. Song writer Dylan McCoy has just been burnt by her rock star boyfriend, needing to put some distance between them while she finishes off writing the contracted songs for his new album she finds herself becoming roommates with her brothers friend Grady. I loved this book, the characters were so lovable and their chemistry together was off the charts, how could you not fall in love with Grady? The story line was emotional yet humorous at times and the sex was so hot it set the sheets on fire. The only downside of the story was that it seemed a little too easy for Dylan to move from loving one man to another so quickly. But all over this was a great read.
I absolutely loved this book!! I listened to the audiobook and Andi & Sebastian rocked it as always as Dylan and Grady.
This series is amazing so far! I knew I was going to be in for a wonderful, sexy, sweet and emotional ride just like in Cuffed, which was about Grady’s brother Grant. And we do get to catch up some with both Grant & Grayson which is awesome! Combust was even more emotional though and with the edge of your seat intensity thrown in with Grady on the job, my heart was pounding so fast. The story line was fantastic as Kristy’s usually are and I can’t even express how much love I have for both Grady & Dylan! They are exactly what the other one needed to really and truly live their lives without even knowing it. Their chemistry was positively “combustible” !!! Such incredibly deep and well thought out and developed characters that were so easy to fall for.
I am so looking forward to Grayson’s book!
5 Face Everything and Rise Stars! I devoured this one! I absolutely love K. Bromberg’s stories. Grady, sexy, flirty and so hot, is definitely a fireman I want to get to know. Behind his flirty banter hides a pain so deep… Dylan is awesome, though dealing with her own insecurities, she helps start the healing process they both desperately need. Their chemistry is scorching hot, the story will suck you in and make you burn with the need to read you won’t be able to put it down. As usual with K. Bromberg stories you’ll fall in love with the main characters as well as her supporting characters. A phenomenal writing style makes for a one click author fro me. Highly recommend this must read!!!
Intense, sexy and e-m-o-t-i-o-n-a-l!
The story of Dylan and Grady could have been another instant attraction type of romance story, but it was much more. When they met their attraction was instant but their chemistry and their banter was just spot on.
Both have flawed pasts that play a pivotal role in affecting how their story developed. The characters were so lovable and so relatable they came to life.
Another public servant… Another winner!
4.5 stars!
Great story of two hurt souls finding their happily ever after. This firefighter is hot! Laughed through out the book and even shed a few tears over the trials that these two face! K did a great job with this story!
