I went into this with no expectations and came out the other side with a smile. Lots of steam and great chemistry between the hero and heroine make this a winner.
I loved this book! Dylan is trying to survive a breakup that she has to keep quiet because the boyfriend is a musician with a reputation for trouble. She has to finish writing the songs for his next album or risk her job. She decides to hide out in Sunnyville at her brother’s friends house. Little did she know that Grady, the firefighter, would turn up the heat.
K. Bromberg knows how to create characters that make you fall in love with them. Grady is struggling with a loss in his past and I loved that it made him vulnerable. This book is sweet and sexy and has all the feels.
Combust is the second book in the Everyday Heroes series by K. Bromberg. If you like hot firefighters and lovable songwriters then this is the book for you. This is another amazing and emotional book by this author.
Dylan McCoy needs to leave her life in LA for a while because of her cheating ex-boyfriend. Dylan’s brother tells her that a friend of his has an extra room. Firefighter Grady Malone still has a lot of guilt over an accident that happened two years ago. What will happen when Dylan and Grady can’t stop thinking about each other, will they stay roommates or give into chemistry?
I loved everything about this book; these two were perfect for each other. They both helped one another’s with their insecurities, fears, and to believe in love again. Grady is one HOT MF Firefighter! I want a firemen calendar now. Loved every character in this book even Petunia; can’t wait for Grayson’s book and Desi novella!!
5 étoiles au feu! Ce livre a touché profondément mon âme. K. Bromberg really knows how to bring emotions to life.
You’re my shot in the dark
The flame I can’t put out
The dream I need to walk away from
But you’re under my skin
You’ve tattooed my soul
The fate of my heart yours to control
Saint Ciel! This is the first time I read something from K. Bromberg and I’m still over heaven. Her writing attracted me like honey attracts bees. It was sweet and elegant. Combust took my breath away. The plot is alluring and brightly developed.
The pace was steady and fast as the wings of a hummingbird. Each page took me deep into the story. It was like I was a spectator from outside. The author has the ability to make you lose yourself deep into the story. It is hypnotizing and stunning. Ce livre est un chef-d’œuvre!
I absolutely love everything about this book, especially the wonderful characters that are complex and very human. It was too compelling. I found myself pretty identified with the heroine of this story. Dylan McCoy is a talented song writer who deserves more. Her ex-boyfriend and father damaged her trust in men. In her eyes men are selfish creatures. She deserves more but her insecurities have eaten her soul.
“She was warm and real and inviting when everything about my dream was cold and dark and debilitating.”
There is something about Dylan that makes her so human. She is not the cliché heroine. She is more real. From my point of view, she is how real women are. She is curvy and reserved, afraid of her body because of the social stereotypes. I am almost sure that’s what really makes her too attractive to Grady. She is a lucky lady if you know what I mean.
This book is about lost, second chances, love, family, life and redemption. And don’t forget about the hot Malone brothers. I didn’t know that I have a thing for uniformed men until I met Grady Malone. From now on I am irrevocably in love with him. He is imperfectly perfect, a broken hero with a tormented soul and a big heart.
“I’m good at manipulating things to make them sing my praises, Dylan.”
There is too much passion between the main characters. Both have damaged souls, different fears and insecurities. Dylan and Grady will push each other’s limits. Grady is fire and Dylan is fuel. They are a perfect match. They can’t deny the all-consuming attraction between them. Watching them falling for each other is like watching the sun and the moon collide in the universe.
“I don’t have time to think. I don’t want time to think, because Grady is intoxicating in his finesse and demand for more.”
This book touched my soul in a warm way. It made me thought about the hard work fire-fighters do. They are the real heroes. Their work is dangerous and noble. They risk their life to save others. Grady Malone personified perfectly the fire-fighters’ selfless work. He has stolen a piece of my heart.
I highly recommend you this book. It is a livresque pleasure you don’t want to miss. This book was full of heart, passion, emotion and substance. K. Bromberg really knows how to bring emotions to life. Each word was worthy of my time. You should check her male characters out because they are extraordinary and they will ruin you in a sinful way.
Finding new authors is a sport I am perfecting and from now on, I am not going to miss any of K. Bromberg’s book release.
More Malone men to read about and get excited over. This story is about firefighter Grady Malone and songwriter Dylan McCoy. We were introduced to Grady in Cuffed, his brother Grant’s story, and being a hot firefighter makes you remember and want to read more about him.
Dylan McCoy is a songwriter who has just found her boyfriend cheating on her in their own house and bedroom. She is devastated but determined to move on with her life without him. She is bound by her contract to write songs for his next album and need the money to pay her mother’s rehab bills. She decides to escape LA in order to write the songs without her ex’s distraction. Dylan ends up being Grady’s roommate with the help of her brother.
Grady Malone is dealing with his own demons from his job and is struggling through major survivor guilt, etc. He agrees to do his friend a favor by letting his little sister stay at his house for a while to write her songs since he figures he is not at home for any long period of time due to his job.
Dylan and Grady are drawn together by their own issues. Dylan sees Grady’s struggle with the lost of his partner and the guilt that he survived. Grady notices that Dylan doesn’t see the best in herself and tries to tell her about her great singing abilities and that her body image is not what she thinks. The 2 help each other out and the more time they spend together, the more they realize that the other means more to them that they realized. However, both Dylan and Grady are too hurt and scare to acknowledge their feelings for each other. Their fear of being hurt again could ruin their developing love for each other. They each must work through their issues, hurt, fear, etc. in order to find out if their love for each other is real and will survive.
The things that Dylan must work through is so realistic and makes you be able to relate to what she is going through with her self doubt, her questioning her own self worth, how she sees her body image so critically versus how others see her, etc. It makes you feel all the feels of everything that she is struggling with. The guilt that Grady has to work through makes you realize all the things that firefighters struggle with when they are injured and/or lose a partner. It also shows you how close knit these workers are and how they care about each other.
I can’t wait to read more about the Malone men and the strong women that care about them! Thank you Kristi for another great story!
5 Sizzling Stars for Combust
Just when you think it can’t get any better Kristy Bromberg gives us another alpha hero to fall in love with, this time it’s the second Malone brothers story who also happens to be a hot fireman and let me tell you books don’t get much hotter than Combust.
Grady is going through the motions of living, working and having a few hot nights with girls that don’t ask for more than a night. Grady is the kind of man that has so much to offer if only he could let go of the past that haunts him , the problem is it goes much deeper than the scars he covers so well.
Dylan is in town to put some distance between her and her ex-boyfriend, she is talented and sassy but she lacks confidence and is always second guessing herself.
These two may start as a slow burn but once the flames ignite there’s no stopping the heat and chemistry they share. Grady is a man you can’t help falling for and once he opens up he becomes the man you want to love, hug and protect and Dylan is just the right girl to take him on the next part of his journey. I love Grady and Dylan, I love them and I love the journey the author took us on as we watched then growing and opening up to each other. I really didn’t want this book to end and I have to say it will be a book I will revisit from time to time because this love story will never grow old.
Brilliant addition to a great series can’t wait for the next Malone Man.
4.5 stars–COMBUST is the second instalment in K. Bromberg’s contemporary, adult EVERYDAY HEROES erotic, romance series focusing on the Malone brothers: Grant, Grayson and Grady Malone. This is firefighter Grady Malone, and singer/songwriter Dylan McCoy’s story line. COMBUST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Dylan and Gray) COMBUST follows songwriter Dylan McCoy in the aftermath of catching her long time lover and writing partner –rock star Jett Kroger- in the bed with another woman. Hoping for some alone time to write, Dylan’s brother Damon sends our heroine to Sunnyville where she will meet and temporarily settle down with Grady Malone-a broken and embittered firefighter battling demons of his own. What ensues is the building relationship between Grady and Dylan, and the potential fall out when Dylan’s time in Sunnyville comes to an end.
Dylan McCoy has contractual obligations including another twenty-four songs for rock star Jett Kroger-the man who broke her heart but refuses to let go of the past. Staying with firefighter Grady Malone finds our heroine considering a possible future but a future fraught with the worries and agony of which she is all too familiar. Already scarred from a fatal fire Grady struggles to move on with his life as he struggles with PTSD and survivors guilt.
The relationship between Grady and Dylan is one of immediate attraction but Grady has no plans for a happily ever after knowing the life of a firefighter leaves too many widows and orphans in their wake. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to Grady’s brothers: police officer Grant and his wife Emerson (Cuffed #1), and rescue pilot Grayson Malone and his son Luke, as well as their parents police Chief and Betsy Malone; several firefighters including Dempsey, Dixon, Veego, Bowie, Mack and Wes Winters; Shelby and Brody; rock star Jett Kroger, and record studio personnel Kai, Henry and Callum.
The world building focuses on family and friendship; on the dangerous world of first responders, and the fall out of the disasters waiting to happen.
COMBUST is an emotional story line as one man struggles with memories from the past, and one woman battles issues of self-esteem. Their mutual walls slowly begin to crumble but time and the inevitable good-bye dampen any hopes for a happily ever after. The premise is captivating and alluring; the romance is passionate and hot; the characters are damaged, hopeful and real. K. Bromberg invites the reader into her world of ‘everyday heroes’ and the women they love.
I cannot say enough about Grady and Dylan! They have amazing chemistry and their story is so amazing.
K Bromberg wrote a beautifully emotional, steamy and heartwarming story that shows you that everyone- whether it be on the outside or the inside has scars. It also proves that beauty is on the inside and/or in the eyes of the beholder. And also to believe in yourself not matter what anyone thinks, says or does to you. Grady and Dylan are simply fantastic together, they each had their hang ups but formed a fantastic friendship to lovers relationship over time. Enjoyed every bit of this book, could not get enough.
Absolutely PHENOMENAL !!
Grady and Dylan’s Sexy and emotional Love story had me transfixed from the start.
In fact it took my breath away completely.
My feelings were rattled and I cried like a baby at some points,I had so much empathy with Dylan I think every woman and anyone who has a distorted image of themselves will.
But Grady a firefighter just sees her as the beauty she is and vice versa, because Dylan sees past Grady’s scars and guilt too.
They are a perfect match,as they heal eachother and it is a beautiful book.
I am addicted to K.Bromberg’s words her writing is exquisite they had me so in the moment they are so realistic and I could see them so clear in my mind, that I could smell the smoke from a fire,or hear Dylan writing her songs. This story is Perfection in every way and I adored it more than I can even say.
Combust is a Magnificent, must read and I highly recommend it.
5 Stars .
With incredible care, K. Bromberg tackles the difficult topic of body image by giving us a scarred firefighter and a average bodied woman in Hollywood who is judged for not being model thin. These 2 meet after Dylan breaks up with her cheating boyfriend. Looking for a place to crash away from L.A. and her ex, she reaches out to her brother. She winds up in Grady’s extra bedroom as a favor to her brother. These two tiptoe around each other until a situation forces them together. As each accepts the other, we delve into their deep insecurities about their own body images and also fears about taking the next steps with their careers. They lend each other strength and understanding, prodding the other to make small steps toward conquering fears. In this growth, you have a sweet love story that leads to a HEA and for these very likable characters, who could be any one of us (maybe not in profession but in hidden insecurities), you just want them to get to that HEA. They fight it tooth and nail the whole time.
K. Bromberg just hit me right in the feels and I loved it!
Grady Malone is a firefighter who has been living his life in fear after his best friend died in a fire which scarred him, literally, for life.
Dylan McCoy is a songwriter who just left LA after she caught her boyfriend sleeping with another woman and destroyed her confidence.
The pair soon begin a no feelings relationship but really who can resist falling in love with a Malone?
This book has laughs, tears, overcoming battles and a pig named Petunia.
Now I’m off to find out who can steal the heart of the 3rd Malone brother.
This story has so much growth from both characters but mostly Grady. Both him and Dylan have insecurities, albeit for different reasons and I love how the author shows that men can have these issues as well, especially after traumatic experiences. The story has such a great flow that I didn’t notice how far I had read until I was almost done. Dylan and Grady help each other and not just physically. I love the growth they both go through and the chemistry is amazing. I love that we get more of Grant and Em as well and the rest of the friends and family that make up this amazing series. Can’t wait to read Grayson’s story now.
This was a great book and it fit perfectly within a series I fell in love with in Cuffed. Sometimes in a series one of the books is not as memorable as the others, it usually tends to be one of the middle of the series books.
NOT THIS ONE! Grady and Dylan’s story is heartfelt, meaningful, intense, suspenseful, and full circle.
Combust is a beautiful story of two broken souls that find solace and peace within each other’s emotional damage and insecurities.
Read this series and enjoy this book. It’s worth your heart and your time.
This is my first book by Maria DeBlassie. Unfortunately for me the narrative I did not like when reading upon finishing I see why the book has been done this way. It is an extremely descriptive book. Its a book where you can curl up with a cup of tea. Learning about the world through nature.
These Malone brothers are so HOT!
I loved this book so much. Grady was the brother I was most drawn to while I was reading Cuffed so I was excited to get his book. This is definitely one of my favs by Bromberg.
Grady has we saw him in Cuffed was the youngest of the Malone brothers and also the most confident. He was self-assured and maybe even a little vain. He was also a firefighter. Jump to Combust and Grady is still a firefighter but tragedy has changed him. He has scars that have been left behind to deal with and he definitely isn’t the vain brother we met before. He’s grown but he still has a lot to learn.
Dylan McCoy is a songwriter who just found her rockstar boyfriend Jett cheating on her. She needs to get away so she doesn’t fall back into old habits so her brother (who doesn’t have room for her at his place) arranges for her to stay with his friend Grady.
Dylan doesn’t like firefighters (because of her past) but finds herself falling for him. Grady vows he’ll never have anything more than a string one night stands because his career is too dangerous. However, these two start to work through their insecurities together but does that mean they can make a relationship work?
Sexy, hot small town firefighter and a talented songwriter–sign me up!
Grady Malone is back in his own story but the carefree firefighter from Cuffed has been through a lot. Losing his partner in a fire and feeling the guilt of surviving with major burns covering his back Grady is not the same man. Dylan is licking her wounds after her long time boyfriend cheated on her. No longer wanting to take a backseat to his career and stardom she takes refuge with her brother’s friend. They form an amazing friendship but soon the sparks fly and Dylan is able to help Grady embrace his scars.
Loved this book.. I recommend the series of cuffed. cockpit and combust
