The army taught me to kill.Every flex of hard earned muscle was for my country. I didn’t need shit else except my rifle, my brothers, and the enemy. I was born to fight. Then the military cut me loose.Civilian life. Two words dirtier than the bloodshed downrange. I didn’t want my freedom.I wanted my goddamn purpose back. I wanted my government issued rifle in my hands. I wanted to taste the grit … hands. I wanted to taste the grit of foreign soil. I wanted to fight until I drew my last breath…
Then she crossed in front of my path—carrying our child.

“Whether I wanted to face it or not, I was scarred and broken. Certainly no good for her.”
I’m kinda going out of order, but once I started reading the author’s Demented Sons MC – Texas series I couldn’t help but want to go back to where it all began. Now I’m addicted and feel the need to binge read until I catch up. If only there were more hours in a day, right?
The synopsis is a big tease. It put ideas in my head and I tortured myself while reading, waiting for what I hoped was gonna happen, to happen. The anticipation had me giddy as I imagined all the possible scenarios, each better than the last, and none of them as good as the reality. That’s why the author writes and I read.
There are so many things I loved about this story…but I can’t tell you about them. It’s the waiting and wondering that create the build-up that feels so wonderful when you are finally satisfied. I wouldn’t want to deprive you of even a second of that enjoyment. But, I do want to express how much I adore the characters in this story. They cover every letter of the alphabet from A-dorable to Z-any with plenty of broken and badass to fill in the gaps.
My heart broke and melted a time or twenty as I experienced life through Colton’s eyes. In case I haven’t made it clear yet, I floved this story hard. I can’t wait to start reading Mason’s Resolution. The line forms here…
There are some very tense, suspenseful moments in Colton and Stephanie’s story. I love how they felt so deeply, even before they really knew one another. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This is an amazing and a must read, it’s amazing to see how both of them have this chemistry that never went away even for the years of being apart. Some stuff happened but they got through it together, really great read.
What An Amazing Read!!!! Just Wow!! I adored the characters and the story line!! Well written and kept me captivated!!
Loved the emotion between the characters.
Phenomenal! This book about Colton and Stephanie was absolutely amazing. The characters were very well written. Colton survived an IED, losing some of his friends in the service, losing his own purpose to live but then found a purpose after his friend brought him into the MC but was a real sweetheart to Stephanie. Stephanie was a sweet, caring woman who ended up pregnant, delivering the baby on her own with her parent’s support and just trying to achieve her career as a chef. At first I felt the book was just dragging on but all the things that happened totally made this story complete and a real page turner. It did contain more foul language than I felt was necessary but I really loved this book, so much so that I just purchase the complete 4 book set. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Love, acceptance, with military & PTSD. Intense storyline w/undercurrent of psychology. Really enjoyed this book!
So love a great story where both people save each other!
I absolutely love this author’s Royal Bastards MC Chapter and then this popped up in my FB feed. I am ashamed to say that I hadn’t read anything else by this author, so I one clicked. And wow, am I glad I did!!
From their initial meeting, sparks flew but Colton didn’t want to taint her with his darkness. That man!!
A few years later and she has returned home after an unsettling experience with her neighbour (that’s putting it tamely!!).
Holy shit!!!! Both are knocked off their feet by revelations but can they make things work?!! My damn heart!!!
I need to read the rest in this Chapter and the Texas one too!! Forgive me Ms Allen!!
I grew up on motorcycles. I got my first one when I was five. I was totally shocked when reading Hooking and Truth had been a flat tracker. So few people know about that these days.
Colton Alcott is alone in life, joining the Army was a way to find structure and fill a void he had. Out with a friend, Colton finds himself meeting Stephanie Quinn. He is instantly smitten and they spend an amazing night together before he leaves again. Always in his thoughts, Stephanie was the one that got away but when Colton’s life in the Army comes to a sudden end he finds himself on another path as a member of the Demented Sons MC.
Stephanie was solely focused on her goal to have a culinary career. That one night with Colton though left more than just a memory. When Colton ends up seeing Stephanie again, they have a chance to get to know one another one different level. Both have issues to work through but would it be easier if they were together?
This was amazing. This was so much better than I expected. Amazing characters, heartbreaking moments and a story that will leave you thinking. Terrific book to start off the series.
A phenomenal story that grips you from the beginning. This one will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. You can’t not read this and not get all the feels. A story that unravels so much that you don’t see what’s coming until the moment it happens. There’s twists and turns with some surprising revelations. It’s a page turner that’ll hold you in its grip, leaving you wanting more.
Why did I wait so long to read this series? Kristine had me hooked after the first three chapters. Love Colton and Stephanie’s story and can’t wait to see what Kristen has in store for this series.
I absolutely love this book. I was sucked in from the first word till the last. Lots of twist and turns for Colton and Stephanie. Love their happily ever after.
I read every word of this book. It explored very real situations. An ex Ranger sniper who is discharged and can’t seem to find his place, an unwed mother/chef who can’t seem to find someone to replace her lost love. Just when all seems ready to move to a happy ending, disaster strikes, but hang in there, love survives.
Loved it I couldn’t put the book down
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Kristine at multiple different events, however this was the first time I’ve been able to finally read one of her books. I was absolutely hooked from that first chapter! Colton(Reaper) is described so deliciously you instantly fall in love with him. Everything he went through was so sad and you really felt for him. Stephanie is an awesome female character. She’s strong and independent and a fierce mother. My heart ached for her not being able to find Colton and feeling so heartbroken and alone for the longest time. The two of them needed each other but had no idea how to find one another. Neither one wanted anyone but each other. Fate is a funny thing though and eventually brought them back together. Right where they belonged. This story was an absolute page turner and I can’t wait to start on the next book in the series.
5 stars Fun read
I truly loved this book, the characters were wonderful and the storyline was so realistic!!
A chance encounter and a stalker make for an interesting story!
