Kimberly Van Meter gives us a sexy installment in the Coltons of Kansas mini series featuring Detective Jordana Colton & amnesiac Clint Broderick. This action-packed, surprisingly angsty romance about 2 people from totally different worlds who find their soul mate in each other can be read as a stand alone.
Clint wakes up in the hospital of a small Kansas town with no clue who he is after suffering a blow to the head. Because the only identifying info on him was a note wth Detective Jordana Colton’s name on it, she is called to see him. They learn quickly that Clint is a wealthy businessman from Chicago. Clint’s uncle had been found dead & the detective had expected to meet with him. But since Clint has no memory, it’s impossible to know what info he might have had about his uncle. Jordana senses foul play.
She finds the tall, handsome crime victim compelling and offers to take him home, something completely out of character for her. He finds the pretty detective impossible to resist. But what kind of man is he, really? Maybe loosing his memory is a chance to fix some things? Be a better person? What if he’s not a nice guy ? Passion ignites between these two & this is probably one of the more sexually explicit Harlequin romances I’ve read in a while. (I’ll score it 3 out of 5 on the spice meter). These 2 are so perfect together but their lives are very different from each other.
Who tried to kill Clint? Can they ID the perpetrators before it’s too late? Clint senses the answers are back in Chicago, but how can he face life there without the woman he has come to love? Will Jordana bend a little?
There is an overarching story surrounding the 2 dead bodies that were found in a building her dad’s construction company owns. The focus of this installment is solving the attempt on Clint’s life. I’m eager for the next installment. I want to find out about those bodies.
5 glowing stars. (But some readers might not like the amount of sexy times in this story. I was not one of them.)

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more of them and also more from this series of books. The story of Jordana & Clint is a great one, and how they work together to solve the case.

‘Colton’s Amnesia Target‘ is the second title in the multi-author ‘Coltons of Kansas‘ mini-series and Jordana’s about to have even more questions added to her growing list when Clint shows up in town unexpectedly and the victim of an assault (or attempted murder). Trouble is, Clint isn’t remembering why he was headed to Braxville, what information he might have had for Jordana that warranted a personal visit for right now Clint can’t recall much beyond his name – and that fact could get him killed.
When we left Jordana toward the ending of ‘Exposing Colton Secrets‘ a grisly discovery had been made on one of her father’s company’s properties which sorta solved one mystery but opened up a whole lot more. Now a man she’d been in contact with shows up in town the victim of an assault with no memory of who, what, or why. Being drawn toward a victim isn’t Jordana’s usual way of handling a case but Clint is doing a really good job of charming her and having her consider decisions she’d not usually make. Her partner is making that fact abundantly clear. But the only logical course of action is to work together to find clues, keep an eye out for more trouble… and perhaps fall in love along the way.
I enjoyed the bantering between Clint and Jordana (especially Jordana’s internal arguments with herself). While there is little progress on the main crime of the series, there are definitely things happening in Clint’s case. I have to admit that I liked the Clint without his memory more than the man he truly is once he rediscovered himself – although he did redeem himself I did like the non-arrogant Clint better. But, that’s me. ‘Colton’s Amnesia Target‘ is a fast-paced, intriguing Romantic Suspense, although I did guess who was the bad guy for sure, but only shortly before Clint and Jordana did.
If you enjoy a romance full of bantering, questions, re-inventing oneself, and a whole lot of danger then you’ll want to pick up ‘Colton’s Amnesia Target‘ soon and get caught up in this series for yourself.
I own a Kindle edition of this title.

This is a fast paced suspenseful romance. Clint Broderick is a tech mogul from Chicago who comes to Braxville, Kansas after Detective Jordana Colton contacts him. Apparently Clint’s uncle was found buried between the walls of a building due for demolition. On his way into town, Clint is attacked and left for dead. He is found with a piece of paper in his hands with Jordana’s name and phone number. While unconscious, Jordana does a finger-print analysis and discovers his identity. That is wonderful news because when he wakes up, he doesn’t remember. He long-term memory comes back but nothing within the last year does.
There is a theme of who murdered Clint’s uncle and the second body that was also found through the entire series. This book basically focuses on who and why is Clint a victim of a murder attempt. Things heat up between Clint and Jordana.
This is a sexy read. I wouldn’t really classify it as spicy but some may. If you love suspenseful romance, and are over the age of 18, then I would highly recommend this book. Again, it is a part of a series with an underlying thread but this can be read as a stand-alone.
I really liked Jordana she is dedicated to her job as well as follows her gut instinct however her gut instincts this time tell her to take in a victim of an assault, who has amnesia who may be connected to the bodies found on her dads business property. Clint can’t remember who he is but his instincts say to trust Jordana and while he likes who he thinks he is as more information comes to light he learns he can’t just stay and play house he has to find out whats going on with his business. This has plenty of mystery, action, twists you don’t see coming as well as attraction, laughs and two people who may be attracted but are total opposites so you wonder right up to the end whether they can make it or not!

The second book in the The Coltons of Kansas series a well written story that kept me turning pages. I want to read the next book. I would recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
First time in reading this author but the bonus was it was in the romance suspense line I enjoy to read. What a dilemma to be in to not remember even your name. Clint is lucky though he has Jordana in his corner even if not realized right away. It also makes for a killer to come at them faster with us running right behind them as the story unfolds and wraps around us. Can they survive this also has us on edge. Exciting mix with this suspense one that will have you in the pages until there are not any more.
Intriguing romance between a wealthy business man who has amnesia and the police detective who is working to solve his case. As Clint starts to recover bits of his memory, he questions the type of person he was and vows to make changes. Jordana uses her instinct to help her as she works through the process of trying to determine who caused Clint’s assault and subsequent amnesia. Along the way, there is a definite connection between Jordana and Clint. But the question is whether they can find a way to make a relationship work since she lives in a small town in Kansas and he’s from Chicago. We get answers regarding Clint’s situation but there are left with questions about the case that had initially led to Jordana contacting Clint.
