I had nothing until I had her. Harley. My Muse. I used to remind myself to never let my feelings get too intense or serious. Not over a woman. Never. That’s not the man I am. But she changed everything. It all started with a single stolen glance at my book signing. My gaze never left her that afternoon, and an innocent meeting ignited a spark inside of me that I still haven’t recovered from. The … recovered from.
The words that filled the pages of my novels, words that had ceased to exist, starting pouring from me when I met her.
But the ghosts of my past have crept back into my life unexpectedly, jeopardizing my ability to be with her, and the future I know we can have together. I want to fight for her—for us—and to be the man I know I can be.
I’m a Wordsmith.
Let me tell you our story.

Colton is book 2 in the Wordsmith Chronicles series and once again Christopher Harlan has written an incredible story.
Colton is a complex character with a childhood of demons that he is trying to work through. He is tough yet vulnerable when see what really beneath the surface.
Harley is the one person who really sees what he is hiding because she too is damaged in her own way. Their storyline flowed well without taking away from the struggles of the indie author. The ups and downs in the book world, from writing books, to publishing, to selling to promoting and how social media can effect their lives. I loved how the guys and girls are there for each other supporting each other no matter the situation. Christopher has written a beautiful crafted book.
I can’t wait to start Grayson story.

Another great read from Christopher Harlan. Colton, much like Knight made me want to be a part of the Wordsmith group. The way that Harlan is able to show each of these characters as distinctly different but going through much of the same things, wanting literary success, finding a woman that is meant for them, and not destroying it all before it is reached. I love reading his books. Every story feels like it could be you, or someone you know. It feels like you’re there in the story just watching from the sidelines.
In Colton, I enjoyed the way he showed the character can change and adjust his thinking so he doesn’t lose everything he has worked for. The way he is patient with the woman he would like to build a future with, so wonderful! Of course, the steamy scenes are fun to read (so much so had to share a couple of the scenes with my friend, because they were THAT good).
Cannot wait to read Grayson, then hopefully there will be more “Wordsmith Universe” characters to get to know better.
Colton has his reasons for being a bit standoffish. He’s a writer as well as a Wordsmith. He grew up with an abusive father. His muse is Harley.
Harley has a bit of an attitude. She really likes Colton. She gets who he is on the inside. Harley has self esteem issues while dealing with family problems.
I fell in love with Colton and Harley. Bring on Grayson … I can’t wait to hear his story.

Great story
Loved Colton’s story. Great to read about the inner workings of writing world. Loved the chemistry between Colton and Harley and how the story developed
The second book in the Wordsmith Chronicles and Colton is amazing. I couldn’t put it down. Christopher Harlan knocks it out of the park again! Very well written and Colton was an amazing character to get to know. I highly recommend this series!
Another wonderfully crafted word masterpiece by Christopher Harlan. I absolutely loved book one and was not disappointed with book to in this series. This author brings to life characters that are real and relatable. As you read you feel like they are friends and not characters in a book. The imagery will have you right there in the story. A read that will have you flipping the pages until the last word.
Book two takes on another of the wordsmith’s, Colton. Just as in book one we still get interaction with all the characters so the flow from book one to book two is seamless. There is heat, laughter and some tender moments that made me love these characters even more. With each book in this unique series I fall further in love with the words. I can’t wait for the next book. I will try to wait patiently.
Christopher Harlan has done it again. Colton is my favorite type of character simply because he is such a complex individual and he has the most to gain when he comes to the realization that he too is need of love and derserves it because he is more than just the tough image that he portrays.
Harley and Colton have a connection. She has her own skeletons, some of which she has shared and some she still isn’t ready to share. Their connection goes beyond the physical because they are both fighting demons from the past.
The great thing about Chistopher Harlan’s writing is that he takes the time to develop his chararcters; they have such a depth to them you can’t help but become invested in their journey. Christopher’s characters are amazing simply because they are so relatable and that to me makes the book that much more believable and easier to get lost in.
This book continues to give us insight into the in and outs and challenges of the indie author world, while examing both Colton and Harley’s insecurities only to realise that they compliment eachother and bring the best out of eachother. Here’s to another great read from Christopher Harlan. Looking forward to Grayson’s story!
What a great second installment into the Wordsmiths men!! I loved it, to me it gave me that look inside the writer’s world. It showed me what we don’t see, when they are writing, preparing for a book event, etc. And it was awesome! And it made me look at me as a reader, what I can do to help out my favorite authors, and the kind of fangirl I am at signings. I can’t wait for Grayson!
Colton is the jokester of The Wordsmiths. He always has a funny comeback and keeps everyone laughing but underneath he has a big problem…his anger. It lead him to beat up a man who verbally attacked a friend. Now he has to face the consequences. He’s also really into Harley. Colton and Harley are a fun couple. But what is Harley hiding behind her outspoken and brash attitude? These two are explosive when they come together and it’s exciting to see if they can work it out. In between this is the Indie World drama and it is so fun to read it from an author’s view. I especially loved the ending and can’t wait for the next one!
Another great story by this author! Fun, interesting characters with a unique storyline. Can’t wait to read more of this series.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.*
The Wordsmiths are back and this time its Colton`s book. Following straight on from the first book we see Colton struggle with a lot of things ad having to pay for his actions. Harley is crazy for Carlton and vise verse they are good together but she has her own demons she needs to deal with. Their journey isn`t smooth sailing so strap in and enjoy the ride. I enjoyed this about as much as I did Knights book and I loved seeing a sneaky peak into the indie world. Looking forward to Greyson`s book.
This is the second book in the Wordsmith Chronicles – Colton and Harley. They met at a book signing and have been interested in each other ever since. Colton has some issues from his past that he needed to overcome and Harley was just the person to help him do that. I really liked these two together. I had been waiting for Colton’s book. If you have not started this series by Christopher Harlan, you definitely should. I love the fact that he uses “real world” people as inspiration for his characters in this series… G. Olden the photographer… could it be Golden? 🙂 I am looking forward to the next book – Gray and Ro’s story! Also, there is going to be a Wordsmith Universe with Brody, Calem, and I wonder who else! Looking forward to those!
Little by little we are learning some of the intricacies involved in some of our favorite indie authors lives. I’m loving the insight and learning some of the hardships that these authors go though in order to get their names out there and become successes…as well as the fall when others are envious of their success. This story brings some old favorite characters back into play as well and I just love that. But more than that…we have different forms of PTSD that are dealt with and it opens us up to learning that their are different kinds of PTSD and other mental illnesses and several ways to deal with them which I think are well dealt with in this story
To have it all, he needs to change his tempestuous ways…
It’s a warm welcome to the next book in The Wordsmith Chronicle series – COLTON. Colton, is a young author, talented but tempestuous in nature. Struggling to find his place in the turbulent Indie Book World. Much like the words that he gives the characters in his MMA series. Strong yet conflicted before they find their happy endings. That’s the hope he is trying to find. Yet, it’s his actions and temper that find him facing the dire consequences of his less than stellar actions.
A meeting with a fan at a book signing event… Hayley – leads him to question that his actions and temper are not working for him at all. To have it all, his writing to be a success, a beautiful relationship… he needs to make some drastic changes.
Christopher Harlan… gifts you COLTON and Hayley’s journey, both as an author and in his personal life; the impact that Hayley has on his life and career.
Christopher Harlan writes COLTON and drops into his very own world – that of being an author, his impressions, and observations in this beautiful, sexy, serious and yet fun fictional romance reading. COLTON definite is his own man and adventure. Christopher starts his books in a an unique stylish fashion… giving you a glimpse into his thought processes, an insight into the book world and his inspirations that sparked an idea that turns thoughts into a book of beautiful words and follows it up as a series. The heat and sensuality factor has been turned up several notches, adding layers to this series. One thing about being an author, whether fictional or real life… you are always learning, always practicing your craft, asking questions, changing, and willing to grow!
I have loved reading this series. Definitely a book (and series) to recommend to you. The Wordsmith Chronicles, provides you an inner glimpse into a world where “fictional” authors have the same struggles and fears, that we all face at times. That the illusion of glamour and fantasy is the surface. Underneath, authors are real personas, have real life issues, strengths and weaknesses, joys and pain. A must read for those that love romance and the inside workings of the indie book world.
Learning From Your Past
The Wordsmiths are back and I couldn’t wait to get Colton’s story.
Colton is struggling right now. His MMA book is coming much slower than he had hoped. The recent events with their rivals, the Brotherhood, have caused some issues. He’s now facing those consequences with therapy and community service. And then there’s Harley…
Harley and Colton have a connection. She has her own skeletons, some of which she has shared and some she still isn’t ready to share. Their connection goes beyond the physical because they are both fighting demons from the past. They are kindred spirits.
Colton and the Wordsmiths are working hard to promote their brand and fulfill their dreams of all reaching the bestseller list. The struggle is real. This is their story of struggling for the dream, all while Colton is fighting for what he has with Harley to be more than just a fleeting hook up to be remembered fondly.
The honesty with which this story is told draws you in. I love hearing some inside information on the book world and to also read about things I am already a part of. Also, hearing Harley’s and Colton’s struggles on relevant issues many people face, made this story relatable. I continue to look forward to more, as the characters are a great group and they all have their own story to tell.
A continuation of the Wordsmith series, Colton is dealing with the fallout from an incident in Knight. He is sentenced to community service plus therapy to deal with his anger and violence issues. He is also still super into Harley, whom he met at the signing in the previous book and likewise is she into him. But they’re each dealing with their own issues and hang-ups.
My favourite book in the Wordsmiths’ series so far. I really, really enjoyed this book, more even than the first one, and the further look into the world behind the book of an indie author. I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t to read Knight before this one to do so but then definitely give Colton a try. It’s insightful, original, funny, and just plain hot, hot, hot! You won’t regret it.
Another amazing book from Christopher Harlan, and a wonderful second book in the Wordsmith Chronicles. Colton is a little deeper and darker than the first book, Knight, a little more broken. But that doesn’t mean he can’t be redeemed, and we get to tag along on that journey. Loved the characters Colton and Harley. Also enjoyed the appearance of some characters from an earlier series. Can’t wait for Grayson’s story.
Another great Wordsmith story by Christopher Harlan. Colton is the “bad boy” of the Wordsmiths, but now he has to pay for his actions. Harley discovers the heart behind the bad boy. I loved these characters. You could read this as a Stand-alone but you would miss some of the Backstory. I loved having more insight into the independent book world. Also loved the cameos by G.Olden and North. Looking forward to the next one.
We are taken on the continuous journey of The Wordsmiths—indie writers with a HEA. This is Colton’s story to conquer the next best seller along with handling his his mishaps from book 1 and the straight forward, beautiful Harley. Along this journey, both have their own demons to tackle and the way in which it is described and handled were perfectly executed. The drama of the Indie world is brought Into play and had me laughing. Being an author is not easy and we get a taste of the process along with a well written story with such amazing characters . Christopher I don’t know how many times I can say this but you did it again. 5+stars
