Celebrate the joyful hope of the Christmas season as characters find healing in the midst of heartbreak. New from Olivia Newport! Christmas in Blue In the wake of a personal loss deeper than anyone realizes, Angela plans to bypass as much of the season as possible and get through her duties as the church organist by going on autopilot. This book drew me in and on page by page! A little mystery wrapped up in a story that made me see another side of WWII. Also a pushing me to be thankful for what I have before me. The next story wove the joys of Christmas time and the sadness that can be found during that time, very well together! You feel the pain of the main actor and being to feel more for others?
Loved it
This was not what I expected. Not a couple of light-hearted, warm and tingly Christmas stories. Instead these focused on the very real fact that for some, depending on what’s going on in their lives, the holiday can be bleak and lonely. While hope and faith were restored here, it was the journey there that provided a great lesson. Straight forward writing, from the heart. Uplifting in the end. 4/5 Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
This book, especially the first story, was really different. It told the story of an elderly woman whose family moved her to an assisted living home near Christmas time. It was a little sad and thought provoking. The second story too touched on the sadness of some people at Christmas time. Too often we don’t think about the people who’s lives are not so happy at this time of year.
One of the best books I’ve read in a long time!!!
There are two stories in this book and both are exceptionally good. I would recommend it to anyone looking for insight into how Christmas is for many people. It is not all sweetness and light. There are depths to people that are visited in these stories. I would definitely give it a higher than 4 but not quite but almost a 5
The two Christmas stories in this book were very different. Heart warming but not sappy.
Real characters facing real life situations.
Boring though not bad.
Lovely whimsical characters and good stories!!
Christmas
These were two wonderful stories I’d starting new at Christmas with loses that are a lot and new beginnings for others.
I liked the questions at the end. The book encourages me to think about how to deal with loss.
A good book for relaxing by the fire around the holidays. Both stories are filled with hope and a little bit of mystery. If you like Christmas stories, this is a worthy read!
Two unforgettable short stories: “Christmas in Gold” deals with displacement during the holidays. “Christmas in Blue” deals with grieving a loss during the holidays. Both are written with great tenderness of heart. I will be revisiting this book for many Christmases to come.
Did not finish the book. Slow read.
Loved the two stories.
Two great stories for the holidays.
I was disappointed in this one. I could not get into the characters, and there seemed to be no purpose or plot.
enjoyed reading it. It’s been awhile and I’ve read several since but do remember reading it around Christmas time. Interesting reading about helping others.
The book was okay. felt like the first story left you hanging at the end.
This book has 2 stories in it. I read the first but was disappointed so I didn’t read the second. It was a good read along the way and was interesting but it didn’t go anywhere and the ending just ended without much of a finish. It was strange to me.
