Luck lands in Hannah Hudson’s lap changing her life forever. With her heart filled with hope, she leaves her tiny desert apartment and heads for a ranch in Colorado.Shortly after arriving, her good luck disappears. A tragic accident occurs-or was it a murder? She’s alone, far from her comfort zone. There is no Dairy Queen, no hospital, nothing along the winding mountain road that links the ranch … ranch to the town. The unfamiliar seclusion threatens to take her breath away. Reluctantly, she teams up with rancher, Trace McAllister, who helps her learn the ropes around the ranch and in the bedroom. Mystery, suspense, romance, a smart dog, and one intuitive horse. COLORADO TAKEDOWN has it all. (Did we mention the chickens?)

Hannah and her friend Rick finally arrive at their newly purchased ranch. He heads to town for food and other supplies, and is killed in a fiery crash. It turns out that they didn’t purchase the ranch; Rick leased it from Trace. But strange things begin to happen – a nearby ranch has one of the cows poisoned, someone who looks like Rick empties Hannah’s bank account, her house phone line is cut, and more… Is Rick really the one who was killed in the crash? If so, then who took Hannah’s money? Last year, I read the third book in this series, and it was just fine as a standalone. But I’ve wanted to read the first two, and grabbed this opportunity for Colorado Takedown. There is mystery and suspense, action, kidnapping, murder, and of course, a wonderful romance. The book is well written, and the story line flows well. The more time that Hannah and Trace spend together, the cuter they become, with truly funny banter between them. It’s hilarious that Oatie, his dog, likes her better, and so does Lewissa, the horse. On to the next book…

The characters are well developed and the storyline flowed smoothly. Hannah is alone in the world when she lands on a Ranch and finds everything she has always dreamed of. But her secrets are coming back will Travis be able to keep her safe?

Such a great read! Romance with suspense added in makes for the perfect action, adventure romantic story. The characters are wonderful and well developed and the story line is captivating to say the least. Intrigue and a bit of suspense keep you turning the pages to find out what happens between Trace and Hannah. Definitely recommend!

What a wonderful romantic, suspense story. I liked that it took awhile to put all the pieces of the puzzle together in this romantic story about a sexy cowboy named Trace and his new neighbor, Hannah.
There were a lot of interesting twists and turns and several surprises too. Parts of it had my heart pounding as I quickly read to solve the mystery.
I liked Hannah’s quiet ways with her animals and I liked how Trace treated Hannah. Their relationship was so special. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This is a fast-paced, scary book about how far someone will go for money or to eliminate one’s rival for love. Hannah finds herself completely alone with no car or phone, hungry and in a new place she knows nothing about. Enter Trace McAllister, a kind and helpful hero. Trouble begins here!
I enjoyed the characters in the story, who are well-written, but especially the animals and the way Hannah interacts with them.

Hannah was incredibly naive in this book handing over half of her lottery winnings to a guy she was friends with so he could purchase a ranch for them. She didn’t even have him put the money nor the ranch in her name. I could tell his motives weren’t pure when he tried to get her to marry him on the way to the ranch. And then after he leaves her at the ranch, his truck goes off the road and burns up. It made me wonder if he was trying to take her money and run while covering up his tracks. The book was intense at times with all the bad things that kept happening to Hannah. I don’t know how she could stay alone at the ranch. Trace was a sexy cowboy, but he and Hannah spend plenty of time arguing. She’s overly emotional at times although I don’t blame her for being upset about all the time he spends with Callie who keeps trying to seduce him and break them up. Trace should have been more upfront with Hannah about his suspicions instead of trying to downplay things. I loved all the animals in the book especially Trace’s dog Oatie and Hannah’s horse Lewissa, who were both very protective of her.
Cricket Rohman manages to deliver a well thought out book with both romance and suspense. Trace and Hannah burn up the pages with their white hot chemistry. A phenomenal story line, details that leave the reader guessing what might happen next, and a sweet conclusion that will definitely satisfy the reader. I can’t wait to see what happens next with the McAlister Brothers.

This was one fast paced modern day western romance with plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep you on the edge of your chair until the end. Think you know your friends. Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. Isn’t; that how that old saying goes? That was a thought that went through my mind several times, while reading this book. They would never know the answer to one of the questions, because the guy was dead. There was so many mysterious happenings over the course of the book that it was hard to connect all the dogs and did all of them go with the story of were they just normal things that happened on a ranch. Trace and Hannah had slow burn chemistry meaning they had the type of attraction that drew them to be near each other all the time. You need to start early when reading this book, because you will not want to put it down until you finish.

Just awesome.
A romantic suspense that was just awesome this book was so good. Hannah has not had an easy life raised in a poor family and what she wants more than anything is a happy life. So she takes off for Colorado. Then fate steps in and puts up a challenge she needs to meet. Trace helps her get her footing. This was a fast-paced story with all its drama, suspense, and romance. I can’t forget the animals they were outstanding. I loved the dialogue of the characters and all the twists. This book is one you will be glad to have I know I am pleased it is my collection. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Fantastic story! Characters that will steal your heart. A storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle! For me it was a love- hate deal as the characters face their demons. You will feel their emotions and struggles. A definite must read.

This is a thrilling suspense filled romance with Hannah and Trace. They work toward a romantic relationship as they also work together to find out who is after her and the lottery money she won. There are several twists in this story that will keep you on the edge of your seat until all is revealed.
This story is one of heartfelt endurance and battle against the unknown… Of course with the always popular HEA we are all in good hands at the end. Overall a very good Cowboy romance and one very worthy of fabulous four stars.

Is it a mystery, or is it a romance? You decide.
So many people want to win the lottery. Maybe they should talk with Hannah. Winning the lottery is only bringing her misery and may just get her killed.
The moment Trace met Hannah, he was drawn into her orbit. Little did he know that being around her could be dangerous and deadly.
Colorado Takedown was an easy read romance with potential. That said, even though the plot had an element of mystery and danger, it was just not very tight. I did like Trace’s character, but during much of the story I really wanted to shake Hannah. At the end there was a glimpse of a happy ending, but a number of questions and issues were left hanging. I suspect that the less than satisfying ending was because this is the first book of the series.
Content alert: mild fade-out intimacy and one use of “f” word by villain.

Suspenseful, dramatic and romantic this book takes the reader on an unexpected ride. Hannah thought she was embarking on a new adventure, little realising that her dreams are about to be upended. As treachery unfolders, questions are raised and Trace recognises that if he doesn’t stand by Hannah, she is pretty much on her own. Trace is initially a reluctant hero, but as his relationship with Hannah develops, he becomes more protective and appreciative of the unconventional woman that has landed in his life. The story wouldn’t be complete without Oatie and Lewissa and the connection that Hannah has with them. Not all my questions were answered in this book, although it does come to a happy conclusion. Twist and Turns
This story keeps you on your toes. Hannah and her friend Rick are moving to Colorado to the ranch he said he bought with her lottery winnings. But he ends up dead within 2 hours of them getting there. Trace brings the animals Rick had arranged for, but ends up helping her and try to figure out what is happening.
Rancher and Vegetarian Hook Up
Trace, a cattle rancher, and Hannah, a vegetarian, had nothing in common until the accident—or was it a murder—which convinced them to team up to solve some unnerving mysteries. The subplots where magnificent horses and an amazing cattle dog appear enhance the ranch’s realism and bring the McAllister Brothers family saga alive. A great weave of western romance and suspense.
Intriguing story for Trace and Hannsh with suspense, romance, etc. But for a 23-year-old virgin falling in love (and in bed) in about a week is moving the story too fast. Wish there had been more of a buildup to that relationship. Didn’t care for the ending; don’t know if it was meant as a cliffhanger for book 2 in the series, but wasn’t satisfying. Didn’t care for the characters of Callie (too young and wild) and her mother, Jane, was ineffective as sheriff. I received this book from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review.
