It’s a tranquil October morning in northwest lower Michigan, a rural paradise of cherry orchards, blue lakes, and sandy shorelines. The serenity of the day — and the season — is shattered when an elderly woman walking her dogs along the beach stumbles upon the bodies of a brutally murdered couple. Sheriff Ray Elkins returns from his debut in the bestselling “Summer People” to track down the … elusive killer of a vivacious and spirited young teacher. His search takes him into the dark side of an elite private school — and into his own long-forgotten past. As Elkins unravels the mystery, the hunter becomes the hunted and one intrigue leads to another in this page-turner.

I read Color Tour because it seemed to be a good mystery in the description synopsis. Now I am reading the entire series!! I feel like I am there in Northwest Michigan and on the lake in every book, and I am a native Floridian!!
This is the second Ray Elkins story I’ve read and I am really getting into these characters and stories. For me, it’s like hearing stories about people (characters) I may have known. This one was really intense. It felt like I was always one step behind in deciphering the clues. This had more sadness and suspense than the first one. I’m …
Holds your interest from beginning to end
Very good. Ray has a lot of suspects to wade through but the killer isn’t who he expected at all. Even the victim isn’t who he expected her to be. Wow. Well written and fun to read.
Being from Michigan I enjoyed this book and have recommended it.
I gave this book only 4 stars because of the unrealistic location proximity. Being from Michigan there were many discrepancies in the traveling time in this book which really bothered me. Other than that flaw I did enjoy this book.
I enjoy reading Aaron’s books. Read all the Ray Elkins character books
Highly relatable main character. Good plot. Clues to solve the mystery are presented throughout the story.
I’ve always enjoy this series, but I have to admit the ending was just alot of guessing as to why it all happened. Otherwise, I loved the book.
I like the way he writes, his main character is likeable. The Michigan locale is also appealing . Well thought out plot.
Good read. Interesting plot line. Great characters. Unpredictable.
Nice reminder of folks who retire or move to the upper Midwest who find they can’t leave the problems of the big city behind.
A nicely written crime mystery. Well crafted characters with depth and a strong plot. Keeps you guessing and staying up a little too late.
Well-written, intelligent characters, good plot.
good mystery, interesting location for this series.
I felt like I was there in Michigan while reading this book. It is descriptive and evocative of the place I grew up. Except for the murder.
Very well written.
Leaves you wanting more! Unexpected twists.
Love this character
Great to read about a sheriff who can try to get to the bottom of a crime without some jerk of a boss standing in his way. I look forward to reading another book by this author.
