Collision is an absolute must read. I honestly couldn’t put it down. A beautifully written novel with such depth you can’t help but feel the emotion throughout. I laughed, I cried, I held our breath. I was simply captivated.
I fell in love with both Juliette and Leo. Their struggles, their hurt, their pain, their fears, their hope, their love was felt so many times I was just blown away by it.
To KA Sterritt I say thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read and review Collision. What you have produced with this novel is nothing short of sheer brilliance. I honestly cannot rate this book high enough.
An overwhelmingly, heartbreaking, heart-warming 5 star read.
Get set for one hell of a collision!
I’ve had Collision – the first book in Kate Sterritt’s Fight for Life series – on my Kindle for ages and I felt like it was time to dive into something different. And this story, it had me hooked from the first page, captivated by the two incredible lead characters Juliette/Jules and Leo, and left my jaw hitting the floor with a cliffhanger I’m so desperately glad I get to read the resolution of straight away!!
Kate has a way of creating characters that are genuine and authentic, with faults and positive traits, with things you love and hate about them … and Collision is a perfect example of this. Jules and Leo are drawn to one another from the moment they lock eyes across a crowded room (ok, fight club arena but same same ) and when fate has them crossing paths three times in almost as many days, it appears that these two might just be what the other needs. But there’s a lot of obstacles standing in their way, Juliette’s boyfriend and family for one – couple that with Leo having some pretty massive demons in his past that he has yet to deal with, and despite the palpable chemistry and energy between these two, it’s going to be an uphill struggle for them to create a healthy relationship.
Kate leaves us with an absolutely jaw dropping cliffhanger which I did not see coming. So I’m heading back to my Kindle to read Impact and see how all of this is going to play out…

K.A. Sterritt’s Collision is a tale of destiny that brings what appears to be two people from opposite worlds colliding into one another in a most unexpected way.
From an outsider’s perspective, Juliette appears to have it all. She comes from a wealthy family, finished her degree and has a good job and is dating a well-off, up and coming businessman. In reality, Juliette is drowning in other people’s expectations of her . . . never putting herself first and fighting to find her own self-worth as she is constantly put down or ignored by her family and boyfriend. To cope, she has become an adrenaline junkie who likes racing cars and boxing.
Leo appears to be the exact opposite of Juliette. He participates in illegal fights for fun and tends bar, living life on his own terms. A bachelor who answers to no one. However, Leo is haunted by events in his past that he can’t seem to escape.
Both seem to be what the other person needs in their life. For the first time, Juliette feels loved and adored and for Leo, Juliette brings a sense of peace he has not felt since tragedy struck years ago. However, their love story is not an easy road. Juliette’s family and ex-boyfriend continue to control and manipulate her life and Leo struggles with his past, unable to open up to Juliette giving her the trust she needs.
I love the characters in the book. Juliette is an amazing heroine. Her struggles to find her independence are easy to identify with. It is a pleasure to watch her grow and take back her life choices that were controlled by others for so long. I also adore Leo . . .who tries so hard to be in the present and move on with his life, but just can’t seem to move forward and completely escape his past . . .although he tries to do so desperately for Juliette.
This book was a page turner. It had a lot of unexpected twists, right up until the last page . . . which I happily admit that I did not see coming! I was very happy to see that the second book in this series was already available so I can continue along with Juliette and Leo’s story to see where K.A. Sterritt takes us next.
5 stars
I loved this book that had me hanging on to every word and nuance, keeping me off balance at every turn in the story!
Juliette is such a contradiction. Meek and vulnerable at times, then brave and fighting for her independence. She wants to please her mother. She attends her mother’s charity events, wears her mother’s clothing selections, and even dates her mother’s choice of men. But she tries to assert herself in fast cars and boxing lessons.
“I’d never known a girl with so many layers of beauty and torment, but it felt like my soul had recognised its mate in Juliette’s.”
Leo is a champion underground fighter, part time bartender and stone worker. He refuses to speak about the secrets in his tragic past.
Even though they both feel the immediate connection with each other, the obstacles in their way seem completely insurmountable.
The moment I would think I was starting to figure out some of the twists and secrets, the author pulled the rug out from under me and I’m left gasping in surprise!!
“The night is lit up by a billion stars. If you focus on the black sky, you’re missing the light show.”
