I spent a good portion of this book feeling like I was missing something, like I was starting a story in the middle. Considering that this the first book in the series, I thought (hoped?) that things would start to come together and backstories would be explained. As it turns out, Collision Point is the first in a spin-off series. Given that information, I don’t see any way for a new reader to even come close to figuring out the complexities that led to this one. That aside, I kept reading to see if my interest would be piqued enough to warrant checking out the series that started it all. Sadly, as the story progressed, it became more and more about this couple’s sexual appetites than anything else. That second half of the book is more steam than story with Riordan and Amara pawing at each other, often at completely inappropriate times. I appreciate well-written intimacy, and the author is certainly talented when it comes to turning up the heat, but the book quickly became pages and pages of sex with bits of story thrown in during the down-time. While this does show attraction and chemistry, that’s lust, not love, and even though they eventually do say the words, the only thing I felt was that Riordan and Amara seemed more like hormonal teenagers than adults supposedly in a dangerous situation. In fact, at one point, Amara is finally remembering details from her abduction – something everyone has been waiting for – but wait, before we can get those answers, they absolutely can’t wait another minute before having sex again. We’ll get to the answers later. Given the nature of those answers, the whole thing became completely ridiculous at that point. It didn’t take me long to start skimming these parts to see where the actual story would go. What I ended up with was a rushed ending stuck between steamy times and a less than satisfactory conclusion. The book closes with a somewhat open ending of a story that’s not quite finished, but given my experience with this one, I won’t be reading further in the series. Fans of the author and the original series would probably enjoy this one much more than I did, but I can’t say that I would recommend it to a new reader.
Once again, Lora Leigh has brought readers a new series, one with some very sexy, dominating and protective military men and the first book in the Brute Force series, Collision Point is a thrilling read that dominated my time until I had read every last word.
Rory and Amara are strong, vibrant characters that keep readers enthralled with their explosive relationship that has some very turbulent complications that keeps emotions high, tempers frayed and even makes silences seem packed full of tension. The attraction between the two is electrifying and readers can practical feel the sizzle and the burn as the sex scenes heat up the pages, although the “mine” aspect of Rory’s dominant alpha male personality may be a bit over the top, but then again he has good reason to be overprotective.
The plot is fast paced and full of danger and suspense that keep readers glued to the pages while the twists keep them guessing. The enemy is getting closer with several action packed moments that keep tension high as Rory and his team try to find the enemy and keep Amara alive. Amara’s emotional state and inability to remember about a year of her life adds to the suspense and thrills of the story and an unexpectedly twisted betrayal makes for an explosive conclusion.
Lora Leigh’s Tempting Seals and Elite Ops books were two of the series that I have read by her and I have been waiting for Rory’s book since I read Noah’s book and I have to say that it was worth the wait and I can’t wait to find out whose book is next in this exciting new series.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review of this book. Boy was this book steamy! This is the story of Amara and Riordan. She is kidnapped and loses a year of her life. She goes to find him so that she can reclaim that year and the man that she has dreamed was her lover as well. Sparks, heat, and danger abound in this book. Riordan is her bodyguard and must make sure that Amara stays alive as there are multiple threats against her life. This is a great start to a new series.
Six months ago Amara was kidnapped and beaten. When Riordan and his team rescue her she watches as the love of her life is killed. When she awakens in the hospital she has no memory of her abduction or anything from the moment she first met Riordan. But the nightmares and memories are just a whisper and a dream away and she instinctively knows that she is still in mortal danger.
After retreating to his family’s home in Texas, Riordan is struggling to regain his strength even as his attempts to contact Amara go unfulfilled. She refuses to speak to him. Now she’s at his front door and it’s time he returns to the house where he found this amazing woman in an effort to not only help her to find her memories, but to protect her from the ones who would kill her.
I really enjoyed this couple and their struggle to wade through Amara’s memories, dreams and reality. Lora Leigh is known for some of the sexiest, steamiest scenes and she doesn’t disappoint here. Riordan is trying to keep himself in check knowing that Amara needs to remember him and not just a dream. Along the way he’s being tormented with the desperate need to protect her from someone that only she knows.
Riordan is the perfect possessive, protective alpha hero while Amara is a bit of innocence, fragility due to her memory loss, and determination. When the end comes down, she takes the adult and responsible approach of addressing it instead of making a ridiculous decision. I appreciated that her character was mature enough to do so.
While this has a slower pace it has a lot of layers of suspense and a bit of thriller. Plenty of secondary characters to help keep you guessing who the bad guy is as well. This couple pretty much wraps up at the end but the epilogue is setting us up for the next book. Hopefully, we’ll get a future look at Riordan and Amara along the way.

This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading from this author and am amazed by her writing. She will definitely be on my list of top authors to one-click. This story will pull you in from the first chapter, keep you guessing, throw a few twists at you and leave you satisfied with the end.
Amara- Powerful daughter of a man
Riordan Malone- Security guard and lover
Amara suffers an event that leaves her without a memory of what happened for a time span of 11 months. She knows there is something there, something that she needs to remember but cannot. Stricken by erotic dreams and nightmares she sets out on a quest to figure out who is trying to hurt her and in the process realizes that the dreams and nightmares may in fact not be what they seem.
Riordan recently recovering from an injury comes back into the life of his former lover, the girl that holds his heart, his soul knowing that she doesn’t remember him nor the love they shared.
Together they both seek the truth, the memories she has lost, the secrets he never knew and the love they must unravel to find their way back in order to stop the threat to their lives, family and the love they once shared.
This is one of the darkest Leigh romantic suspense I have ever read. It is a spin-off series from her Elite Ops. The hero being Noah/Nathan’s brother Riodan “Rory” Malone. He’s part of the Brute Force Security Firm. They work closely with Elite Ops. All your favorite characters from Elite Ops play a part in this series. Riodan has been providing security for Elite Ops asset Ivan Resnova for a while. He’s managed to fall in love with Ivan’s beloved and very off limits daughter, Amara. Someone wants Amara dead and we don’t really know why other than Ivan is playing a very dangerous game with Elite Ops and one of Russia’s mafia families.
Amara doesn’t really know what her father does for a living and is kidnapped and beaten within an inch of her life. Riodan is out of the country when it happens and while rescuing her he’s almost killed. They are separated during the recovery for about 6 months. When Riodan is about to return she finds him. She has amnesia from her trauma and doesn’t remember the kidnapping or the prior year including her affair with Riodan. She just knows he can keep her safe but doesn’t know why. She is the most hot and cold, messed up heroine I have ever read. I almost gave up on the book because she didn’t seem believable. I guess it makes sense with her amnesia and the magnetic draw between these two. I think I needed more understanding in psychology to get a full picture of her. She is really messed up!
Lora crafts a suspenseful story with her salting of clues as she always does. There is a traitor within the house but no one can figure out who. You will never figure it out, believe me. It’s full of action, interruptions to passion, lots of old and making some new friends.
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Lora for granting me an ARC of this book for my honest review.
Lora Leigh can write some seriously sexy sex scenes and entertaining stories. I enjoyed this one, just as I enjoy nearly all Lora Leigh’s books. This was romantic and sexy and fun.
I haven’t read a Lora Leigh book in a while, but saw this one and though. New series, lets try it. I’m not sorry I did. It’s a very good book, with lots of twists and turns.
I loved Collision Point and I was so excited to see Rory Malone (from Wild Card) finally getting a book. Rory is working doing security for Ivan Resnova, an underworld crime boss. Rory began a relationship with Ivan’s daughter Amara and from there things went wrong. Not only for them but beyond their relationship. Now Amara no longer remember’s the past year and has fleeting memories of Rory but she has come to him seeking answers. Rory will risk anything to help Amara and together they will enter on a journey to uncover the truth about what happened to her. Lora Leigh is a fantastic romantic suspense writer and Collision Point did not disappoint me. Lora Leigh books are all stand alone books however she is a huge series writer. Her characters are always interacting with characters from previous books and Collision Point is no exception. Prior to this was the Elite Ops series which begins with Wild Card. Characters from that will be mentioned. I recommend you reading the Elite Ops series after finishing Collision Point if you haven’t already. Heck, go back to her Tempting SEALs books if you haven’t read those too! As you can tell from my review, I am a long time Lora Leigh fan and recommend Collision Point to any fan of romantic suspense. As all her books it is written in dual POV and is exciting, steamy, naughty, fun and there’s always a HEA for someone! I received a review copy via Netgalley and this is my freely given, honest opinion.
I received this book through NetGalley and St. Martin Press for an honest review. Thank you to both of them!
I give this 4.5
I personally loved this book. Lora Leigh didn’t disappoint once again. Wow! I truly had no idea who it was until the end. I loved the mix of mystery and suspense with some romance and hot sex mixed in. There were a few times when I wished there would have been a bit more but overall I would recommend this book to friends!
For those who haven’t read Lora Leigh you can absolutely read this as a stand alone. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books and this series.
I do love author Lora Leigh’s writings. I have found her stories very entertaining and hard to put down, Collision Point did not disappoint! I could not put this down and when I had to attend to housework my e-reader helped me with my addiction. As with all Ms Leigh’s books, this story has some really hot sexy times, suspense, and mystery. Even though I enjoyed this story I was a little distracted by some of the writing, I felt the sentences were a little long and had to reread them at times. But this was an ARC and sometimes editing is still in the works, which I hope was the case for this book. I loved the sexual tension between our hero and heroine, I also love that this is a spin-off from a previous series, “Elite Ops”, which I love. I look forward to reading more of “A Brute Force” series in the future and plan on rereading her other series again soon. All in all I give this 4.5 stars.
***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!
Great new series from Lora Leigh. I really enjoyed Rory and Amara’s story and looking forward to more in the Brute Force series.
Collision Point by Lora Leigh is a romantic suspense with plenty of steam. The dangers clinging to the heroine have the hunky hero coming to the rescue then getting it in with the gal. You’ll get lots of excitement and even more steamy sex in the mix.
I have been waiting for Ivan’s story and I can definitely say it was worth it!! Journey and Ivan SIZZLE together!! Journey thought Ivan didn’t know who she really was and that he wouldn’t protect her and help her if he knew that she was anyone other than a friend of his daughter. If only little Sin knew nothing gets past Ivan.Amara wants Journey protected as well as some other important people. You really need to read this book as I don’t want to spoil it by saying to much in the review but this book is AMAZING!!!
This is a spin off from the Elite Ops series and features Rory Malone and Amara Resnova. A wonderful romantic suspense book. I loved Rory and how he loved Amara. Great start to a new series.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mediocre story. I am a Lora Leigh fan and this was a mediocre story and the only reason I finished the book was in the hopes of that it would get better. It didn’t. Ms. Leigh has written better.
I love this author
Amara Resnova is the daughter of a crime lord. Due to a memory loss, she turns to Riordan Malone, an Elite Ops agent. She knows that someone is trying to kill her, but she doesn’t know who … or why.
They’ve met before when he fell in love with her and then broke her heart. But she’s different now … older, wiser, tougher. Riordan is still attracted, but he’s afraid he’s missed his only chance with her.
This book is typical Lora Leigh .. hunky guys, beautiful women, graphic sex hotter than an Arizona summer, revenge, murder. It’s fast-paced, action-packed from start to finish.
Many thanks to the author / St. Martin’s Press / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Romantic Suspense. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Love anything Lora Leigh writes!!!
Lora Leigh is my favorite author. I have read almost all of her books. Great wonderful I loved it.
