A standalone novella, however, you might enjoy the sexy silver fox Uncle Tommy, in his story, After Care.
more
Everything I could have wanted from Gage and Ivy and their beginning. I’ve wanted more from this couple from the moment I met them in After Care so I had high expectations for a great story and I was blown away!
Angst, longing, pure love from the start and a genuine need to be together no matter what pulled me in and kept me tight! I loved their origin story, Collide was everything I wanted and more!
The one I was waiting for!
I forgot how much I love reading a book by this author until I got my hands on this one. She had already wowed me with her writing style and a few of her sweet, sexy over 40 romances, The Silver Fox Series where I met and enjoyed the hell out of Tommy Carrigan’s (former rocker and Ivy’s uncle) story with cancer survivor Edie…sooooo touching and very hot! It might be fun for a new reader to start with this one and then read about those hunky Silver Foxes!
While reading this wonderful, heartwarming story, which she totally nailed, I wanted the backstory of Tommy’s niece Ivy and her man Gage.
Now, lucky me, I spotted this new release which features how these 2 future soulmates come to be in each other’s orbits and wow, I couldn’t put it down for anything!!!
There is nothing more sexy to me than a caring man who’s hot as hell to boot, sees what he wants and tries to lock it down. He’s a little bit sweet and a little bit bossy! What a great combo! Sometimes things don’t go as planned for either, as is the case with Gage and Ivy. He’s an up and coming lead singer in a band with his best buds and she’s a young but jaded daughter of 2 rock star parents. Let’s say, who’s got issues???
Gage is not the cliche playboy rocker but after meeting Ivy, that’s even more true. How would anyone else measure up to how he feels about her? Can we clone Gage and let him loose in the world?!!!! Fate might need to take a hand here and you’ll want to watch all those moments unfold like I did. There is a twist that made me tear up for both of them because I wasn’t quite sure how this would play out and affect what I hoped would happen.
This book was just a special little treat for me last night and into the morning as I reached for it before even rolling out of bed. A perfect romantic love story that I adored reading and highly recommend.
Now I’m off to read another page turner by L.B. Dunbar! Dinner? What dinner..lol!
Another stellar love story by LB Dunbar. – 4 stars
“When two stars collide, Ivy, they either collapse or merge to form something better. You and me. We collide, and we’ll be so much more. Together.”
This is absolutely a stand alone novella but if you have read After Care, then you will remember meeting Ivy and Gage. This is how their story began, before After Care.
Ivy grew up in the rock star world, and because of this she doesn’t know who she can truly trust or even believe. She has been struggling and now that she has an even bigger problem, she truly doesn’t know where to turn or what to do.
Gage has wanted Ivy from the moment he saw her, and from the tryst in the closet.
Gage never thought he would have another chance with Ivy. However, he finds himself going after her when they were both in Hawaii at the same place. Gage has found out a secret, and he wants to be the one to be there through thick and thin for her.
Tommy, Ivy’s uncle was in his own band, as well as her mom’s band. Gage and his band want Tommy to manage their band, but, Tommy isn’t sure about it. He has been helping them, but, mostly they are on their own.
Ivy learns to let Gage in. Ivy has a hard time letting anyone past her guard in her heart and head. Gage goes after that barrier, and breaks in!
I did receive a free ARC copy. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Collide was where it all started, Ivy and Gage are two souls, Ivy mad at her family because they didn’t tell her that her mom’s health had turned. Gage well he’s just Gage, he fell for Ivy when he first laid eyes on her, two year later he see her again and things get hot.
This book is of tourment, loss and love.
I cried throughout the whole book!!!
Let me begin by saying that Collide is a great story! It’s characters have so much depth to them that if you think you’re going to be reading a rock band book, you are in for a big surprise! Collide stands completely alone so if you have not read After Care where Ivy’s uncle Tommy has his story do not worry because this takes place before it. Gage Everly is a rock star on the rise. Ivy Carrigan is the daughter of a rock legend. Their first meeting was life changing for Gage but Ivy refuses to be tied to one man. Her mother wasn’t the best role model for a functional relationship and Ivy doesn’t plan to go down that path no matter how much her heart wants love and a real relationship. It’s now two years since the fateful night that they met and a lot of changes have happened in both their lives. Gage has known what he wanted ever since that night and that’s Ivy. Ivy has a lot going on right now. Her mother has passed away, she’s graduating college and she’s pregnant. What I really enjoyed about Gage and Ivy was that they are both old souls and they both want real connections but Ivy is so afraid because of what she witnessed of her mother’s relationships. I cannot recommend Collide enough and if you enjoy it as much as I did then you’re definitely going to want to read After Care to read more about Ivy’s sexy uncle Tommy. It’s written from dual POV and it’s got all the feels!
Absolutely fell in love w/ Ivy & Gage in After Care, which is Ivy’s Uncle Tommy’s HEA. This story takes place a couple years before Tommy’s, and (I believe) was created because so many fans of Tommy, Edie, and the stories that came after them, wanted to know more about these two young people.
Their story isn’t easy, but it is full of the beauty that this author excels at. We get to know their hearts, we get to know their struggles, we get to know more about Gage’s band mates, and we also get to know more about how Tommy came to manage Collision. All in all, a highly enjoyable (and STEAMY) story, and it gets two thumbs up from moi! : )
I fell in love with Ivy and Gage in After Care and Midlife Crisis and was ecstatic when I learned their story was going to be available! Definitely was not disappointed. From start to finish I was loved it! If you haven’t had a chance to read Dunbar you’re missing out!
OMG!! Gage and Ivy’s story will have you swooning so hard! Since the first book I have wondered about their story. L.B did not disappoint with this incredible journey of love.
We first met Ivy & Gage in After Care, we saw more of them in Midlife Crisis and in each one you saw just how much Gage was in love with Ivy, how much thought & care he put into the things he did for her. Let’s be honest he was a larger than life “sub character” with his dotting ways.
In Collide we get to see how their story began, and man was it unconventional, to say the least. Ivy’s mom Kit Carrington was a bit twisted in how she lived her life. And that had its effects on Ivy and how she saw the world and the people in it.
Gage himself comes from an abusive childhood and left to start a band as soon as he graduated high school. His band members become his only family.
Ivy is so guarded with her emotions, her heart, and fiercely independent. Growing up the daughter of a rock star everyone always wanted something from her, no one just wanted her.
This man literally worships the ground Ivy walks on. He does everything he can to show her that she is worthy of being loved, cared for and cherished.
Their story is sweet, sexy and filled with so much compassion that it makes the reader fall deeper in love with Gage and want to embrace Ivy with a huge bear hug.
Gage and Ivy’s story was worth the wait. ‘After Care” Tommy and Edie’s love story introduced this young couple and they were important characters but their beginning was a mystery. “Collide,” tells of that first meeting and the turmoil in each of their lives. Two years later they meet again and so much has changed for each of them and that’s where the relationship builds and blossoms. There is never a doubt about the love they feel for each other and their “family”. This book has lots of love and is filled with feelings, angst, and drama. It just made my heart happy. I reread Tommy’s book to keep that book high going. Loved this “family”.
If you haven’t had a chance to read the lastest few releases in the after 40 genre from L.B. Dunbar you need to get to it! This novella rates right up there with the series of stories, but is a spin off from one of the band members.
This story has a star-crossed lover’s vibe, the struggle and anticipation between two characters that bring in the angst I’m always looking for to build up the tension in scenes to come, plus two characters that you just want more of with each page turned. Ivy and Gage meet early on but fate doesn’t want them to be together until a couple of years later where this story shines.
I really enjoyed this side story to Tommy’s and Edie’s story. Another great addition to this series, where two hearts collide in the best of ways. Read After Care to get the beginning. Also, love the cover!
We finally get Ivy and Gage’s story and it is so romantic. We also get to find out more about these 2 characters that were introduced to us in After Care (Tommy Carrigan’s story). Ivy’s life isn’t what people think it is being the daughter of a rock star mom and a deceased dad. when Ivy first met Gage, it was at a concert that Gage’s band was opening for her mom. Let’s just say that the first encounter was hot and steamy! We also find out about Gage’s past and why he is the romantic that he is. It is such a great love story and we find out things that were never mentioned when they appear in the other books. It just makes their romance more special. I hope Ms. Dunbar gives us the story of the other 2 members of the band Collision. I want to know more about Jared and Petty! But Ivy and Gage’s story is so touching and romantic.
Ever since reading After Care, I have wanted to learn more about the music worlds “Golden Couple”. Ivy is the daughter of Kit Carrigan and learned most of what she knows about the music world and men from her. She really knows how to take care of herself. Fast forward to college for Ivy, her mom has succumbed to cancer and history is repeating itself. Gage Everly and his band Collision have been riding the wave of success until tragedy strikes their band. These two are thrown together, well they collide while Ivy and her uncle Tommy are vacationing in Hawaii. Gage wants to be everything for Ivy but all her instincts tell her to go it alone. This story is short and sweet but contains all the feels and steam of a full length novel. I am so grateful to L.B. Dunbar for providing us with the back story of Ivy and Gage and the Collision band.

Finally, the story we have wondered about since we read Tommy’s story way back when with AfterCare. How did Gage and Ivy’s relationship come about? How did Ivy’s life with her famous, rockstar mom evolve? And what prompted Ivy’s decision to major in music therapy (which we do find out about eventually during our Silver Fox stories but…)? One night, one stranger, one rushed, heated passionate encounter. Ivy did what she always did….moved on. But somehow, Gage could never forget. How does he prove to Ivy that he is here to stay? The love these two have is one for the ages despite the fact that they truly have to fight for it. They are the sweet couple we met previously but now knowing how it all came about, what they had to deal with to finally get to that point…gorgeous story! And while I love my silver foxes, Gage has a little piece of my heart too!
We wanted Gage and Ivy’s story and LB Dunbar did not disappoint us.
You felt Ivy’s past from the first page. It was great to see into her upbringing and how it affects her feelings. Gage was taken from the first moment he saw Ivy and he was so romantic. They had an explosive first night but then went their separate ways. When they meet again so much has changed but they come together and try to make the future work. It is not all smooth sailing but that is what makes this book great as they take the ups and downs as they fall in love.
It was also great to see Tommy’s past.
Romance with a touch of turmoil.
When Gage & Ivy collide for the first time, the spark becomes explosive. With Gage on his way to rockstar status, Ivy knows nothing serious will happen between them. Growing up in the industry she knows better than to believe in happily ever afters. But Gage is determined to prove Ivy wrong. He’s waiting for Ivy to figure out they are meant to be together. Will Ivy see what’s right in front of her, or will she succeed in pushing him away? This was a great read showing the collision of Gage & Ivy!
WOW!!!! I knew that Gage and Ivy were going to be amazing but this was even better than I thought. We met Gage & Ivy in After Care (Tommy’s story) and you couldn’t help but love them. I was so happy when we found out that we were going to be getting Gage & Ivy’s story in Collide. I literally loved every single minute of this story. Gage was immediately star struck over Ivy from their first encounter but then they don’t see each other for a while. When Gage sees Ivy again, you can tell that he is determined to never let her get away again. I absolutely loved how in love he was with her and how he was so sweet, kind, caring & loving. He showed her that it wasn’t about sex and that he truly cared for her. I love how he wouldn’t give into Tommy & his demands to stay away from Ivy. You literally fall in love with Gage in this book. Gage & Ivy are just perfect together and we saw that in After Care but reading their story was AMAZING!!! I love the feel of family throughout the entire book and I love knowing what is coming for Tommy in After Care.
This is a stand-alone book technically. Just know once you do, you’ll probably want to read After Care to hear more on Gage & Ivy, as well as Tommy. I literally am going to go read After Care again right now (for the 3rd time). I would so give this more than 5 stars if I could.
BTW — I got an ARC of this book but this is my honest review. I will be buying this book as well as soon as it comes out.
I love when an author gives you all the pieces to the puzzle. It completes the story in so many ways. I really enjoyed getting the back story on this amazing couple and I love them more because of it. There is so much emotion and turmoil it makes you see things in a different light. Plus I am in love with LB’s writing it’s like being wrapped up in your favorite blanket with a glass of wine a total I’m home experience. I recommend all her books.
Another stellar book by L.B. Dunbar!
When I read After Care I didn’t just fall in love with Edie and Tommy, I wanted to know more about Ivy and Gage. They made an impression on me, even though they were secondary characters in the story.
Well Ms. Dunbar came through beautifully with Collide! We get Ivy and Gage’s story! This story takes place years before After Care.
Ivy is trying to recover from the death of her mom. She is also coming to terms on the situation she finds herself in and what that means for her future. I could feel her struggles, her fear for the future and her place in the world. She had an extraordinary upbringing, being the daughter of a rock star and that has molded her into the person she is today.
Gage, oh my me….what a hero is he?!? The first time he collides (wink) with Ivy, sparks fly and that chemistry stays with him for years. When Ivy’s news breaks, he truly steps up like a champion. He is there for her even when she is pushing him away.
This is definitely a slow burn novel, but it’s an amazingly agonizing burn and it’s so swoony to read! I loved the stipulation that Gage gave Ivy. I was cheering for them until the very end!
This just story makes me want to go back and re-read After Care. In fact, I think I will!
