SOMETIMES LOVE BITES AND SOMETIMES IT STINGS.
Colel, the Goddess of Bees, has been looking for Mr. Right for over seventy thousand years. So when she meets the hunky owner of a small-town flower shop and explodes with flutters and tingles, she’s almost certain that he’s the one.
Only two problems: her tiny black-and-yellow army suddenly won’t let her anywhere near him, and…is that a freaking epinephrine pen in the fridge? “Dear gods! He’s allergic to bees? Say it isn’t so.”
If simply dating the guy will kill him, how will she ever know for sure if he’s really the one?
Colel has a solution, but it’s drastic. Even for her. And what if he says no?

A LAUGH OUT LOUD, STEAMY AS HELL PNR THAT MADE ME SMILE, GIGGLE AND BEG FOR MORE! This was one of the most humorous romance I have read in a long while. It was delightful! Full of witty banter, a perfectly fun plot and seductive scenes that was both steamy and outrageously entertaining!
If I could pick ONE PNR to suggest to readers in 2019, this book would be it! Funny, witty, sexy and outrageous in the BEST way, this book was a total hoot and loaded with entertainment. I am dying for more books by Mimi Jean Pamfilof.
Colel gets a EXTREMELY FUN FIVE HYSTERICAL STARS!
The gods in the Immortal Matchmakers’ universe are unhinging in the weirdest ways. The goddess of bees can’t control them and Chuck is the ring leader. Brutus is acting stranger than usual. And Colel thinks she’s found her true love, but he hates bees and Colel.
This a rip roaringly fun book. A great addition to the Immortal Matchmakers’ series. Zany situations that boggle the minds of humans and immortals alike will keep you reading nonstop.
Mimi Jean is certainly no buzz kill when she writes these fantastically improbable books. I tip my wine glass to another honey of a book.
As soon as I opened the cover I began laughing and never quit. Colel is naive in the romance department, and when she meets the one…what to do… Especially seeing she is the Mistress of the Bees…and they aren’t liking him at all, and…he’s allergic. Delightfully sexy romp with evil gods and goddesses, vampires, mermaids, humans….and so much more.

This is a must read book. It stars a goddess where bees are her thing, a guy who owns a flower shop and has an epipen in the fridge next to him, a normally silent bodyguard/soldier who is now Mr. Chatty, and a evil-vampire-demon-unicorn that a has a secret. You know the normal stuff. Well it is for a Mimi Jean Pamfiloff book. This wickedly, talented Evil Genius author has made me laugh, gasp, and swoon with all the talent, smartassness, wit and just sheer Mimi. But that is magic she bestows on every book she writes. The characters and the worlds she builds are unique and addictive. You can’t just read one book and end up reading as many as you can get your hands on. Its what makes her my go-to author and hopefully it’ll make her yours as well.
My Thoughts:
I have said this before and I will keep right on saying it…..I LOVE Mimi Jean’s style of writing. She is consistently funny and inventive. I mean, what more could a reader want? Colel is technically book #5 in the Immortal Matchmakers series ( I highly recommend you read all of the them.) but it can be read as a standalone book. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I will just list the 5 things I loved MOST about this book.
1. Minky- An UnBeeLievably angry, lusty, invisible unicorn…
2. The warning at the beginning of the book had me cracking up before I even got to the first page of chapter 1.
3. Rhys- Super hunky alpha with a secret.
4. Colel- Mistress of the Bees ( who have quite the sense of humor I might add) and overall hot mess. She takes the definition of celibate to a whole new level. She may be my favorite Goddess in this series.
5. Vampires, Mermen, Gods, Goddesses, Warriors, bubble baths, and some steamy “adult” time. ( So maybe there are more than 5 things I liked)
I have yet to read anything by this author that is less than awesome. 5 stars all the way.
Colel, aka Mistress of bees or just Bees, is looking for love and her mate. When she finds him there is a huge roadblock to pursuing him… he is deathly allergic to bees. The story that follows their path to a happy ever after is chock full of laughs, trials, surprises, and lots of hot gods. This book will keep you drawn in to the story from beginning to end.
What’s a goddess to do when she’s the Goddess of Bee’s and her chance at love is DEATHLY allergic to bee’s?!?! Colel was funny, crazy and altogether out of this world insanity! I absolutely loved it! I couldn’t stop laughing at the crazy antics of these people! The crazy just never stopped! This was my first book from this series, so I know I’ll be going back to read the rest of them to get completely caught up! I couldn’t put it down!
Another hilariously entertaining paranormal Rom-Com by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. We start Colel’s story in Crested Butte, Colorado. Colel is the Goddess of bees and her hive of assassin bees and Rys is a sexy flower shop owner who is highly allergic to bees, like deadly allergic. She is immediately smitten and will do anything to get his attention. He wants nothing to do with her. Colel is so clueless on everything dating or love, yet she still tries to reel him in. He continues to rebuff her.
This book is full of great one liners and crazy AF deities, that are constantly misusing common quotes in a laugh out load way. As always with Mimi’s books you are on a wild ride, that has you hooked from the first page. I loved revisiting with the progress of Zac after what happened to Tula.
Will Colel finally find her soul mate? Will we once again see some of our faves like Minky and Cimil? Love the humor and wit with all Mimi’s books. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to see what comes in the next installment.
Oh my flippin’ Gods!! This book! Mimi has done it again taken us on a wild ride, between Colel and her crazy ninja assassin bees and Minky. Woooo this book is crazy good, emphasis on the crazy.
Colel has been the Mistress of the Bees since her creation 70-ish thousand years ago and after all that time she’s lonely but looking for love when you wear a beehive for a hat isn’t easy especially when your bees are very protective. Rys is the one human who has ever sparked a lustful emotion out of Colel but everytime she gets near him her bees freak out and considering the fact he’s deathly allergic to bees has her all twisted inside. Meanwhile Zac is dealing with his own romance problems, Minky has gone off her rocker and Cimil well…. it’s better if you just read it.
Overall these crazy gods and goddess make for some good laugh out loud fun reading. Mimi has a way with words especially when she’s channeling Cimil. Told in third person mainly from over the shoulder of Colel and sometimes Rys and Zac. I love the direction Mimi is taking this, she keeps you guessing. This is a standalone Colel and Rys story begins and ends only Zac and Tula’s ongoing tragedy is well.. ongoing, but there is a nice little tease as to what’s going on next.
3.5 stars.
Colel is the next in Mimi’s Humorous Paranormal Romance (TM). Colel is an immortal goddess, the Mistress of bees. And she just happens to meet who she suspects is her fated mate. Just one teeny tiny problem.
Anaphylaxis to bee stings.
What ensues is typical OTT situations, full of humor and inappropriate jokes, witty dialogue, and sexual tension. Plenty of the side characters from the previous novels make an appearance in this “omg what else can happen next” plot.
Honestly it was typical MJP (who I adore), so no issues from my stand point. It was a quick read – mostly because I really needed to find out what happened and SOO much happens so I couldn’t put it down. Another solid win.
The insane and temperamental Immortal Gods are back and I so missed them. This story is about arguably the most quirky God, or Mistress as she prefers. Colel is the Mistress of Bees, and she’s on a very timely mission: to discover why bees are disappearing from their habitats. This mission ‘s success could very well help to stop deadly climate change.
The warning that Pamfiloff writes in the beginning with us readers that she is the Queen of Humorous Paranormal Romance (that is a thing).
This book contains foul language, gratuitous sex against a truck, outrageously rude immortal warriors in leather pants, snow, pigheaded gods, a sexually frustrated goddess, a very hot and hunky florist guy with a bad attitude and a big secret, Brutus bubble baths, a sneaky invisible unicorn, unrequited love, bees, bees, and more bees, and chocolates.
If that warning doesn’t peak your bee interest, your hopeless. Sorry!
Colel goes to Colorado to do an inspection of bee nests, and there she runs into Rys, the hot florist/snow plower. She gets those flutters…the ones you and I get when we are attracted to someone. But to a Goddess praying she doesn’t turn evil soon, it means she found her soulmate. Or did she?
The dialogue is witty and hilarious.
“Then why the strange behavior? You went from being as verbose as a cave-dwelling hermit to being a chatting sixteen -year-old girl who prides herself on non-stop complaining as a competitive sport.”
“I will have whatever you’re having,” said Votan. “You look like a real man, so don’t disappoint me.”
“The one I left with Minky. You didn’t think I’d @#£ you over, did you, Tula? We’re friends, and friends don’t throw away each other’s bodies.”
Pamfiloff writes the bees as real people, and it only enhances the humor in the story.
“I’m sorry! How was I supposed to know I’d be crushed by an avalanche?” She narrowed her eyes at the formation of bees resembling a man with his arms crossed in disapproval. “Oh, stop. You know I hate it when you make people sculptures. It’s just weird.” They buzzed into a cloud and formed a hand with a middle finger sticking up.
While Colel is fighting the urge to just be herself and possibly scare Rys away, God of Temptation Zac is fighting despair over losing his beloved Tula. He blames his sister Goddess Cimil, so when the fates seem to change in his favor, he’s forced to help Cimil out of her prison cell. But they don’t call her Crazy Cimil for nothing! She has an amazing plan that unfortunately pulls Zac into a scary situation with an invisible vampire unicorn. Yep, I said invisible vampire unicorn.
These dysfunctional Gods and Goddesses are wild and unpredictable, but ultimately they are a family. They prove it the most in this entry in the series, where they are forced to jump from one situation to the next saving each other. And Cimil shows them that even in prison she is pulling the most strings to save the world and her family. Or maybe she’s just anxious about not having garage sales or thrift stores during the End of the World. Who really knows? What we do know is the rules are changing and the Immortal beings better work harder to mate each other before Armageddon arrives.
What a fast paced, action packed entry in the series! I look forward to the next entry and pray that poor Brutus finds a mate.
True to this author’s previous works, Colel will have you laughing out loud during this entertaining paranormal romantic comedy. Members of the immortal community are threatened by a plague and it is imperative that they each find their mates to avoid “flipping”. Colel, the goddess/mistress of bees is on a mission to find out why the bees are dying off and finds herself in a small town in Colorado. Armed with a traveling hive of bees, she encounters the flower shop owner, Rys and thus begins a hilarious tale of a zany, horny goddess and a reluctant florist.
Colel is a fun character in that she is clueless when it comes to pursuing a man, quite quirky and a bit nutty perhaps, and seems to go about wooing her mate (who happens to be deathly allergic to bees) in the craziest inappropriate ways. Her antics and thought processes had me in stitches. However, at times I felt that it was over the top. Rys is rude to her at times (in his defense, she comes across as rather batty) is less developed as a character although we get to know more about him in the last third of the book. There are only a few chapters from his POV which is why I think his character wasn’t as developed, but I also feel keeping the book told primarily from Colel’s POV is fitting. I also liked the secondary characters such as Brutus, some of the other immortal beings, and Chuck – if you can count a bee as a character! The book moved at a good pace, but there were areas where Colel would go off a bit on tangents when talking about other immortal creatures and past events.
Colel is the first book in the Immortal Matchmaker series that I’ve read and while it is book #5 in the series, I had no trouble following along. There is an underlying story involving the goddess Cimil and the god Zac throughout the all the books, but again, I didn’t have any trouble following along. I thoroughly enjoyed Colel with its humorous plot line and zany characters and I plan to read the earlier books in this series.
I have adored this series from the very beginning and this installment is just as fun, witty, exciting and jammed packed with the best kinda magic ever!! This uniquely brilliant storyteller delivers us yet another emotional yet laugh out loud romantic adventure with her own brand of snark that I am completely addicted to… Loved it!
This book was fantastic! I have been a huge fan of Ms. Pamfiloff’s work for years- her books promise so much humor, snark, romance, and mystery! Colel and Ryhs’ story does not disappoint at all with this standard. This was such a fun quick read and you will enjoy every moment!
I think I laugh more when reading a Mimi Jean Pamfiloff book than with almost any other author. This Immortal Matchmakers series has just been fun since the first book. How can you go wrong with things like; a swarm of honeybees with a leader named Chuck, an invisible evil unicorn, a ghost, and a horny 70,000 year old virgin goddess in search of her mate to name a few?
Colel knew from the moment she saw Rys that he may be her mate. Not only does he rebuff her immediately but it also turns out that he’s allergic to bees. Was the Universe messing with her? Colel sets out to win her man but in doing so sets off a string of events that only hurts her case not help it. Seeking to atone for her missteps with Rys, Colel does something that may bring the wrath of her brethren down on her head. She willingly will face the consequences to make things right even if she doesn’t get the man.
What’s the Buzzzz ?
Oh that’s just Chuck and his psycho friends demanding honey.
Colel isn’t your average goddess. As Mistress of Bees she speaks fluent bee, and is responsible for the health of bee hives world wide. She also comes with her own personal immortal army of psychotic bees that live in her hat. It doesn’t help that the little jerks are the jealous type and don’t want anyone near their girl. No wonder why no one ever gets close enough to her to make a love connection. Unfortunately she doesn’t have time to think about that right now, with the bee population suffering, she has work to do so the helpless humans don’t starve to death.
Enter Rys Crested Butte, Colorado’s local florist with a big attitude, bigger secrets and not to mention a deadly bee allergy. With their instant chemistry Colel tries to both avoid and get close to Rys, while he goes into full jerk mode. Add Brutus suddenly acting like a forlorn puppy dog toward her and you know it’s another romp amongst the most insane group of gods and goddesses around.
Though book five in the Immortal Matchmakers series focuses mainly on Colel, we do see the appearances by the other gods and goddesses, the continuation of Zac/Tula’s story, with some extra spicy Minky thrown for fun. Colel’s story wraps up without a cliffhanger but the book has enough of a “oh no you didn’t” to make you eager for the next installment.
Mimi Jean writes characters that are once again so human that you can’t help but to see yourself within them. They are snarky, chaotic, unsure of themselves, flawed, and so inhumanly human that you can’t help but laugh, cringe and relate to them as they try to figure life and love out. Just when you think you have everything figured out the script flips and the Universe has clearly gone and lost her mind keeping you guessing up until the very end.
How do I describe this book, and series? Well it’s a mash-up of paranormal, zombie apocalypse (without the zombies but with rabid immortals instead) and rom-com.
So a very run-of-the-mill book, not
The Immortal Matchmakers books can be read stand-alone, though there is also a story arch that runs throughout the series. Having read only two of the five books (this and book #4), I can tell you from personal experience that you quickly pick up the threads that run throughout them all, plus there is a glossary of characters at the back of the book to help you keep all those Gods, Goddesses and other Immortal Beings in order. Well possibly all of them except Cimil, no one’s keeping her in order.
If you read this (and you really should) you will be getting a REALLY fun read that will have you giggling at it’s silliness – including all the very many ‘bee’ puns. It’s also very well written, incredibly snarky, has a really engaging story, some unexpected twists and turns and a lot of sexual frustration followed by some scorching hot sex. Outside. Against a truck at one point.
[He] was like an immortal manly soup that nourished her down to the
tips of her golden hair.
As with a lot of paranormal books it’s written in the third person, and it definitely needs to be because we get the view point of quite a few different characters, including some from previous books. Again you really don’t need to have read those books, the author cleverly weaves information into this so that you can keep up with the story. It also means you don’t need to re-read previous books to keep up with the plot. That said most of the book focuses on Colel, her massive attraction to Rys and all the obstacles that the Universe (who was either more sadistic than ever, or the damned woman had finally cracked) put in their way.
Now whilst MJP likes to give us a happy ending, she isn’t averse to making her characters and readers suffer along the way to said HEA. In fact I get the feeling that she likes nothing better than torturing her readers by dangling love, peace, harmony and all that jazz just in front of your nose, then snatching it away again as she cackles hysterically about it. For instance Zac and Tula – talk about give with one hand and take away with the other!
I don’t beelieve that there’s much more to say. It’s a fun book, more plot than character driven, fast paced, silly and a great read. This is a quote that nicely sums up what you’ll be getting for your well spent coin.
The woman’s mouth fell open to the fully slack position as she took in the
enormous beehive atop Colel’s head.
“Oh no. Don’t do that. Chuck will think it’s an invitation.”
He loved the warmth of a good human mouth or , really, any human orifice.
Such a pervy little thing
***Chuck is the head bee in her posse
The jokes, the comments, the snarkiness of the bees, all combines to make this book one that made me snort out loud!
This is a continuation of the Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. series which is simply fabulous! This book is about Colel, the Mistress of Bees and Rhys, a florist who is allergic to bees. It’s a wonderful love story but I most loved Chuck, he stole the show! I love that we also get to catch up with Zac and Tula, but I cannot believe Minky (she is too rotten to be believed)!!!
I simply can’t wait for the next book in the series!
WOW!
That is the first thought I had after finishing Colel. I have fallen in love with Mimi Jean’s Immortals from the very beginning and as more come out I am never disappointed. I wasn’t quite sure what kind of wild ride I was in for with the Mistress of Bees and I’m thrilled to say that I loved every bee-autiful moment of this book! I couldn’t put it down, needing to know more, craved it until the story to the end. This book, by far, is my favorite of the series!
Colel is book five in the Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. series by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff.
Colel is a Goddess, one of those that were created to protect our earth. She is Mistress of the Bees. Her seventy thousand years existence is dedicated to keeping the bee population of the world safe and healthy. Only the bee population has been dying out and she can’t figure out why. That is why she is currently in this tiny Colorado town checking on the local hives. When she walks into the local flower shop, something happens that she has waited seventy thousand years to happen, she feels an instant pull towards the shop’s owner, Rys. Could it be that she had finally found “the one?” The one man who is her soul mate? But Fate seems to be laughing at her because not only does Rys look at her with complete disdain, he throws her out of his shop because, yes, he’s allergic to bees.
Rys has the weight of the world on his shoulders for reasons I don’t want to divulge because I don’t want to give anything away. But rest assured, he has lost his faith in love. Not to mention the fact that he would like to stay alive which wouldn’t happen if he got stung by one of Colel’s bees. He can’t understand this strange attraction he felt to her. How could he after what he’s been through? The best thing to do is stay away, right?
Colel is determined to find a way for she and Rys to get to know each other. How else will she find out if he really is her mate? One problem, though, is that her bees which accompany her everywhere, are determined to keep them apart. So Colel comes up with a crazy plan to make Rys invincible to her bees. But first, she has to make sure he is the one! Second, she has to admit to him, a human, what and who she really is. Then, thirdly, she has to sell him on her plan! Easy peasy, right?!
This has all the crazy we have been so accustomed to in this series. Colel and Rys were so much fun. But even more than that, I enjoyed the next part of Zac and Tula’s story. Mimi Jean is torturing us with little bits of their ongoing saga and it’s killing me. And of course, crazy Cimil and her evil invisible unicorn, Minky, make an appearance.
So, buckle up and get ready to smile. Because this installment of the series will most certainly make you do just that. I’m not certain but I’m thinking that Brutus might be getting his story next.
