Hathaway House: Cole (Book 3)Welcome to Hathaway House, a heartwarming military romance series from USA TODAY best-selling author Dale Mayer. Here you’ll meet a whole new group of friends, along with a few favorite characters from Heroes for Hire. Instead of action, you’ll find emotion. Instead of suspense, you’ll find healing. Instead of romance, … oh, wait. … There is romance—of course!Welcome … course!
Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love.
When Navy SEAL Cole Muster entered Hathaway House weeks ago, he was doing well. His meds were under control; his recovery was progressing at a safe rate, and he was getting better every day. But, left to his own devices, Cole pushed himself too hard and took himself off his medication—and ended up causing himself harm and earned himself time in a hospital. Now he’s returned, hoping that Hathaway House can get him back on track one more time.
RN Sandra Denver feels responsible for what happened to Cole. She was his nurse and should have realized that he wasn’t ready to leave Hathaway House. His setback was her fault, or at least she could have prevented it, if she’d made sure he was taking those meds she gave him daily. Now that he’s back, she’s finding it hard to trust not just him but herself. And she understands, when Cole has a hard time trusting himself too, it won’t make his recovery any easier.
For Cole’s sake, Sandra must help him overcome his stumbling blocks as well as her own. With any luck, they’ll find a second chance at recovery, for both of them, at Hathaway House.

Based on first 2 in series, I have this book, but won’t waste my reading time on reading it. The author seems prolific, but unaccomplished.
We got our first glimpse of Cole in ‘Brock’ and then he did something really dumb. He decided he knew better than the doctor and stopped taking his meds. Of course he didn’t discuss it with anyone and ended up back in the hospital. Now he realizes he needs to listen to what his team says and not push himself so fast.
Sandra was his nurse and will be again, she was reprimanded for not knowing he wasn’t taking the pills left for him. Now she watches everyone take their pills. A change in routine that is necessary to ensure what happened with Cole doesn’t happen again.
Sandra also lets him know things have to be different this time around.
Sandra finds she really likes Cole and starts to build a friendship with him. However Cole’s guilt and mood swings aren’t good for his recovery and he hasn’t opened up to his Psychologist or Therapist. There’s also concern that his friendship with Brock could be hindering his progress, but Brock does manage to turn the table on that.
Lots of ups and downs, fun at the pool and a beautiful beginning romance.
WOW, this is the third book in this series and it left me speechless. Emotionally heartbreaking and full of love all at the same time. Cole has captured my heart.
I didn’t think this series could get any better but I was so wrong! This time it is is Cole’s chance to recover from his serious injuries and start to live his life again. He is under the care of Sandra and their chemistry is dynamic!
I can’t stress how wonderful this story is with strong likeable characters and an addictive storyline. I loved it and highly recommend it to you.
Hello Cole. Came in an angry, wounded, gungho lets ignore the rules, Seal and turned into a charming, giving man. Nurse Sydney was dealing with a few issues of her own after Cole took it upon himself to medicate or not medicate. We know going in that the Seals are wounded, will have PTSD along with their own unique physical issues. Dale handles these, gently but honestly, giving us a glimpse into their world. Yes, we know there will be a HEA but the emotional journey, the struggles reach out and take you along for the ride. Thank God for the HEA! The romance is emotional, G rated. I love, love that there are animals, with the veterinarian, on site. Thank you for showing us the tip of the ice berg in our returning wounded along with some fantastic ideas for helping. Thank you for the arc, Dale Mayer, Booksprout. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Timing
Cole’s first stay at Hathaway House had shown great promise but ended in disaster when he found himself back in a city hospital suffering from exhaustion, the consequences of having intentionally stopped taking his meds, and the indications of PTSD that he refused to acknowledge or discuss. Just as Brock (Book 2) had thought his recovery needed to compete with Aaron’s (Book 1), so had Cole tried to emulate Brock’s recovery. Sandra, the nurse whose job it was to dispense meds, blamed herself for not seeing what Cole had been doing or not doing. The consequences of those mistakes brought them both up short. Cole knew he was lucky to get a second chance and vowed to be more careful and listen to his therapy team, while Sandra’s attempts to help him get back on track seemed to be not enough. Each had taken a step back when they saw the results of their earlier mistakes, feeling afraid to repeat them and hesitant to move forward. Together they would have to acknowledge their mistakes, forgive themselves, and overcome distrust for their own future decisions. It was time.

Cole by Dale Mayer
Hathaway House Series Book Three
Cole Muster was so excited to get to Hathaway House, only he thought he needed to catch up to Brock with his healing. Instead, it set him back and he almost lost his chance to be at Hathaway. Now that he has a second chance…he’ll behave.
Sandra Denver has been a nurse at Hathaway House for five years. She loves it here. Cole had hurt her with something he’d done the first time he was there. She’d be more careful around him this time and he’d have to prove she could trust him.
Hathaway House is a great place to heal. Lately, it’s been a great place to find your soulmate too. Once Dani Hathaway broke the rules by falling for a patient…it opened the door for others. I’m really enjoying this series.

I found this story quite emotional, almost heartbreaking at times but also very inspirational. No matter how broken these guys feel they still deep down have that core that makes them fight to survive whatever gets thrown in their path, is it easy? no anything but. They have to dig deep and really want the recovery with every part of their soul, then they have to learn to trust their teams. The biggest battle isn’t getting the strength back or any of the physical side its the psychological that causes the most issues, opening up and talking about anything and everything on and in their minds, definitely not something these strong tough military guys find an easy task. But then sometimes the women working with them don’t always find it easy either. This series gives some insight into just a small portion of the battles fought by those in services and injured, yes this story is fiction but reading it feels as though there is a base of truth somewhere, maybe the author knows or has experienced these problems at some stage either directly or just by connection. Either that or a lot of deep research was done, because I can imagine the reactions and problems to be very real. The scenery and animal side of the story are beautiful, it sounds like a place I would love to know, volunteer or work at, a calming and healing place containing all the best elements for maximum recovery for human and animals. Absolutely loving this amazing series and feel blessed to be able to read it.
Cole, Book #3 in Dale Mayer’s new series, brings us back to the healing haven of Hathaway House.
Cole Chamberlain’s struggle to recover from injuries received during an IED blast on deployment with his SEAL team is much more than healing physical wounds. Deep emotional trauma turns his path to recuperation into an obstacle course for himself and his caregivers.
Nurse Sandra Denver is part of Cole’s medical team who is determined to move past an error that results in Cole being rushed to the hospital. Her conscience and heart create her own struggle as she is determined to help him heal.
Cole and Sandra’s story is an intense look at their lives from the inside out, reaching into the heart and soul of the reader. Taking two steps forward and one step back keeps their journey real and the pages turning.

Learning to trust yourself again…When Cole returns to Hathaway House, he doesn’t want to end back in the hospital and lose his chance at rehab at Hathaway House. On that prior visit, Sandra was reprimanded for not ensuring that Cole took his meds. Sandra changed her routine to watch all patients take their medicine and still has nightmares about it. Now Sandra sees that Cole has changed his attitude, but both of them have difficulty trusting themselves. As Cole feels drawn to Sandra, he believes that she might need a better man. I received a free copy of this book from the author through Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is another wonderful story of the healing needed both physically and emotionally. The romance in the story is sweet and clean. I love this book and look forward to more in the series.
Book three at Hathaway house sees us with Cole. A friend of Brock’s but with a bigger recovery on his hands. In the beginning he has a set back but he wasn’t expecting Sandra, an RN who feels responsible about his setback. As they become friends, it’s evident that Cole has more be needs to share before he can make anymore steps. Lots of misunderstanding and it was so great for his friend to step up with some advice for him. Could this be another relationship in the making????? As usual a great read from cover to cover. I love this series. It has non of the heat of the other books but it doesn’t detract from the story and the problems wounded men and women may face everyday with either in or out of the military.
Cody is back at Hathaway House. His second chance. His first chance did not go so well and he ended up back in the hospital. Too much, too soon, too . . . . Now Cody returns to heal, to strengthen, and to build. Sandra and the other staff members of Hathoway House are watching over Cody. Sandra, one of the nurses holds herself responsible for Cody’s first fall. Cody also holds himself responsible. Healing is slow but something from Cody’s past is holding it up. A great tale for all ages. Wounded warriors, wounded animals, working together and building relationships. Bravo!

The nurse/patient relationship is a professional one but at times special feelings show up to push into the personal realm. Cole arrived at Hathaway House thinking he knew better than the doctors and nurses what he needs so he hide his medications and pushed himself to hard which caused him to collapse sending him back to the VA hospital. He wasn’t the only casualty of his actions, his nurse Sandra was reprimanded with a write up placed in her personnel file.
When Cole returns to Hathaway House, he must earn the trust of the staff before he can really begin healing.
Another enjoyable romance. This series just keeps getting better and better.

It breaks my heart with this series, but determination conquers all in the end. Cole is dealing with a lot, different from what his friend Brock was dealing with. Besides his injury was from when he was still with the Navy Seals, but his vehicle hit an IED. Then there’s his family, his real brothers, who were several years older than him. Then being out of the Navy his family unit was gone again. Received this book for an honest review.
Cole is the main character in book three, and he almost torpedoes his chance at Hathaway House.
The amount of research Dale Mayer does for her books must be intense and time consuming. I’m reading the book and it hits me.. Holy cadoodles.. There is so much research that must be involved in a book like this.
But, I digress.. hahahaha.
The book is incredible. I finished book two and dove right into book three. More time spent with the members of Hathaway House, and with the introductions to more staff members. This time a Nurse is added into the mix. Cole finally realizes how his actions have affected other people. A bitter pill to swallow (no pun intended), and has to work through that along with his recovery.
I’m hooked on this series, and can’t wait to see what happens in the upcoming books.
