This story good night and excellent movie. If possible I’d like this book better than the previous one in the series, and I like that one too. It contains everything from suspense, adventure, romance and steam. Looking forward to the next one.
5 stars
Haley is the co-owner of a security company and is at a security conference in Indonesia. Quentin is the top FBI hostage negotiator and is giving the key note speech at the conference. When he sees Haley, he thinks she attractive but he has a past that he still isn’t over. After being accosted, Haley hides out on Quentin’s balcony until she can get away. That night the hotel is attacked and Quentin and Haley barely escape, then are kidnapped and Quentin is beaten. When they are able to escape, they find another kidnapped woman. After hiding on another island, they are finally rescued but the danger isn’t over yet. Can they finally be normal and maybe start a relationship?
Heart pounding, edge of your seat action. Two people with horrible pasts, try to start over. Very sexy. I did figure out, fairly fast, who set everything up.
Easily one of her best heroes–and that is saying something!
This book is such a harrowing, hair-raising race around the globe. It’s sexy and scary and everything I want in a romantic thriller. Honestly, this series just keeps getting better.
Toni Anderson Never Disappoints – As with all the Toni Anderson books I have read, Colder Than Sin is romantic suspense at it’s very best. It’s a sexy action-packed, nail-biting, heart-stopping read that incorporates romance and passion in a perfect balance with a great HEA. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
This is the first one of her books I didn’t rate five stars. How LONG are they going to run around in the jungle? I put it aside and may go back to it when I am in a more patient mood.
Most of the books in the Cold series are wonderful, because she is a fine writer, so if you are new to the series, start with one of the older entries.
Another Author I try never to miss. Love all her books
I wonder if the author sat down before writing this book rubbing her hands together and went I wonder what would happen if I put the FBI Crisis team, Alex Parker’s security team and fellow author Rachel Grant’s Rapture team all together and see what happens. The outcome of course is one action packed, high body count, combustive romance and at times heartbreaking story. No punches pulled here in the story, all out balls to the wall.
Anderson delivers another heart pounding thriller in the Crossfire series. Quentin and Haley are great characters and are so well written. The action starts from the beginning and it’s a fast paced, page turner right to the end.
I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romantic suspense genre.
Colder Than Sin is the second book in Toni Anderson’s Cold Justice Crossfire series. This series revolves around the FBI’s top hostage negotiators. So as you can imagine, the book moves at a pretty rapid pace. This is Quentin and Haley’s story and it’s a doozy. Caught up in what appears to be an act of terrorism, these two work hard to escape and to bring those responsible to justice. But of course, not everything is as it seems.
The first half (or thereabouts) of this book was hard to read. Not because the writing was bad. Or the characters weren’t well developed. Toni Anderson always delivers great romantic suspense. But the subject matter in this book is very heavy. She touches on sexual harassment, sexual abuse, and rape. So if those subjects are a trigger for you, please be aware before you dive into this book. I will say that despite how emotionally draining those scenes were, the author did a great job showing how never giving up hope turns victims into survivors that can still thrive.
NICUnurse’s Rating: To me, a great romantic suspense book will keep me guessing to the very end. This one absolutely delivered on that. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Toni Anderson threw in a plot twist I never saw coming. From start to finish, this book held my attention, gutted me and tore my heart to pieces for the female characters, then put me back together…a bit changed…
I give Colder Than Sin by Toni Anderson 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Solid five stars. This book was amazing! Action throughout. Haley is in the Security business and Quentin is a hostage negotiator for the FBI. When terrorist attack a conference the two are taken hostage. Plenty of chemistry and steam between Haley and Quentin. Lots of action and a fantastic story that kept me up late to finish this book! Secondary characters were also well developed and likeable. Loved the twists and the characters!
Well! Toni Anderson definitely had me on the edge of my seat with this book. COLDER THAN SIN is quite the enthralling read.
When FBI Negotiator Quentin Savage and private security company CEO Haley Cramer find themselves running from a luxury resort after a terrorist attack, it will take all their strength, wit and cunning to outmanoeuvre the enemy. And it’s not just a matter of running away, but figuring out who to turn to for help; professional alliances are nebulous in this part of the world, so they could just as easily be walking into the hands of the enemy.
I’ve read several of Anderson’s books but COLDER THAN SIN is hands down the grittiest I’ve read to date. At times incredibly raw and crude, it lifts the veneer off civilised society, exposing a dangerous underbelly.
In contrast to the violence, we also get a most marvellous romance between Quentin and Haley. This relationship starts at an incredibly stressful time but it’s also what helps them keep faith, support one another and do their utmost to get themselves to safety.
I really enjoyed getting to know Quentin and Haley. Both of them are damaged souls, trying to move on from tragic past events. Their exteriors may exude confidence but these two are hurting. Embarking on a relationship that requires barriers to be lowered and vulnerabilities to be exposed is plain hard work.
The satisfying conclusion delivers to us not only the instigators of the attack but a fulfilling romance. Highly recommended.
Note: There are many law enforcement acronyms used throughout the book. The author has kindly provided a list of them, but I only discovered them at the end. If, like me, you’re more likely to think of HRT as hormone replacement therapy than Hostage Rescue Team, do yourself a favour and keep the list at hand while reading.
This was a great book. Quentin and Haley both are so much more than they appear. They have a great chemistry together and are thrown into a world of chaos. The storyline of this book is deep and parts of it are emotionally hard to read, but it was so good that I had a hard time putting it down. It grabs your attention from the very beginning and keeps it until the end. Another character, Darby was also introduced in this book. I can’t wait to see where her story leads and how she overcomes the challenges that she now faces.
Action, intrigue, love, tragedy, and a hard earned hea. I didn’t put it down until I finished it. Highly recommended.
There are some terrible sinners in Colder Than Sin (Cold Justice: Crossfire #2) but not the two main characters, Quentin and Haley. These are the kind that kill-just-you-because-you-are-there kind of sinners. The kind of villains that make you hope that one day hell is truly terribly hot for them. As you can tell, this is a book that will make you take sides, have opinions, want some characters to pay for their actions; in other words, it will make you feel.
Toni Anderson has written a powerhouse of a romantic suspense with a heavy amount of thriller added to it. Quentin Savage may not be an angel but he is one strong hero even when there seems to be no hope. Haley is also impressive as she holds herself together through some horrifying situations. Wished I couldn’t actually believe what happens in this story but it is written all too real. Think compelling read then notch it up about ten times to fully understand the experience of reading Colder Than Sin. Be sure to read the warning, it is true.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Colder Than Sin provides all the heat needed to keep you warm. With its engaging characters, interesting storyline, heat, and heart, it’s well worth the time spent reading. I enjoyed it very much.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author/publisher. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.
Read it straight through, its that good. It takes hold of you from the beginning and you just have to keep reading to see how it plays out. Its fast moving, tense and engaging. The end was a bit of a surprise but that’s what makes it so good. I love when I can’t figure it out ahead of time, makes for a more enjoyable and interesting experience. I’m an avid reader and appreciate a well written book. I hope we see more of Quentin Savage and Haley Cramer in the future. They are very interesting characters.
Thank you for the privilege of reading an advanced copy.
The instant attraction between Quentin and Haley was intense and continued to grow even with all dangerous situations they keep falling into. Quentin works for the FBI and Haley is part owner of a security company. They are both at a conference when it is over taken by terrorist and now they are on the run trying to stay alive. Of course the worst thing that could happen does happen.
This story took off right from the start and so did my adrenaline level. I could not wait to see what was going to happen next (and I loved it). These two were meant for one another and worked hard together to out smart their enemies. This is another great suspenseful page turner with strong characters that you will love. The secondary characters were also incredible. The romance in this story is FANTASTIC! Once you start this it you will not want to put it down. I look forward to the next story in this series. I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
4.25 stars–COLDER THAN SIN is the second instalment in Toni Anderson’s contemporary, adult COLD JUSTICE: CROSSFIRE romantic suspense series-a spin off/crossover with the author’s COLD JUSTICE series. This is FBI Negotiator Quentin Savage, and business woman Haley Cramer’s story line. COLD THAN SIN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line/series is revealed where necessary. Quentin Savage was first introduced in book one Cold and Deadly.
NOTE: Due to the story line content, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Quentin and Haley) COLDER THAN SIN follows in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on Nabat Island in the Flores Sea, Indonesia during a security conference where most of the attendees were former military or security specialists. Running from a personal nightmare Haley Cramer finds herself in the arms of FBI crisis negotiator Quentin Savage, the man with whom she would fall in love. As our couple struggle to break free of the carnage at the local hotel, they will find themselves prisoners of a rogue band of guerrillas, barely surviving through the Indonesian jungle, and volcanic activity of the nearby islands. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Haley and Quentin as our couple struggle to stay one step ahead of a dangerous terrorist cell, and the potential fall-out as Quentin battles memories from the past, and the possible connection to someone involved with the hotel massacre.
Quentin Savage had flown to Indonesia to negotiate the freedom of several American citizens currently held hostage by a militant group of soldiers. With no ransom demands on the horizon, Quentin finds himself struggling to locate the people in charge but never expected to be caught up in an attack at the local hotel. Haley Cramer was hoping to make contacts for her security business but finds herself the victim of unwanted advances by a business colleague. Making her escape, Haley lands in the arms of FBI negotiator Quentin Savage, the man who would save her life on multiple occasions.
The relationship between Quentin and Haley is one of immediate attraction but Haley doesn’t do relationships, and Quentin is warned away by a confidant and friend. The attack against the hotel pushes Haley and Quentin closer together but it remains to be seen whether the adrenaline rush for the for fight of their lives will continue or be accepted back home. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Australian billionaire businessman Cecil Wenck: former military operatives Grant Gunn, Chris Baylor, and Nick Karlovac; FBI agent Alex Parker; business woman Tricia Rooks and partner Sean Logan; operator Logan Master, Eban Masters, and volcanologist Darby O’Roarke. I am looking forward to Eban and Darby’s story line.
COLDER THAN SIN is a story of betrayal, revenge, terrorism and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing, suspenseful and gritty; the characters are animated, strong and resilient; the romance is captivating and seductive. COLDER THAN SIN is a spicy, timely and edgy addition to Toni Anderson’s COLD JUSTICE: CROSSFIRE romantic suspense series.
COLDER. THAN SIN. Toni Anderson
This has Content Advisory. One will love Quentin and Haley, he comes to her rescue at a conference, which saved her life.He is an FBI negotiator and dealing with terrorists at this hotel. She is a strong willed person, but this has
shaken her. The plot is a deep emotional look with terrorists, and a romantic
attraction. It is fast paced, and another good plot for readers.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
