I wanted a second chance. What I got was a repeat. She was too beautiful. Too smart. And her emerald green eyes saw too much. I wanted space-she took it away.I craved her lips-she gave me her kiss. I screwed it up-she got smart. Avoiding me is the right thing to do. I’m messed up, tortured, and probably always will be.But I still want her. Her mind. Her body. Her heart. I want it all. And this … mind. Her body. Her heart.
I want it all.
And this time, I’m in control.
No matter what I have to do, I will make her mine.
Note: Levi and Ivy’s story will continue in Book Three-Fox.

I am still sitting here… stunned. I inhaled this entire book. No stopping- just flipping pages so fast my hands cramped up.
I have no idea how I am going to wait one full month to read the final book in this trilogy. Max Monroe- you have truly outdone yourselves here. I don’t know how you managed to take it up yet another notch, but I am floored.
To start off- if you haven’t read Stone, you MUST stop now and go read it. These books absolutely HAVE to be read in order. Cold picks up about a week after Stone leaves off, as it’s a continuation. The best way to read these is to go in blind. Don’t try to find out anything about the plot before you read them, or it will take away from the literally visceral response you get as this story just builds and builds. Once you start reading you will not want to stop, so clear your schedule, grab your copy, and settle in for the ride.
Oh, Levi… how I wanted to hate you. Now you have to go and make me question everything I thought about you. Ivy continues to be everything that I truly love in a heroine- she’s tough, feisty, and intelligent. The chemistry between these two is incredible. I really love that this story is being shown to me, not just told to me. I could literally feel each emotion along with the characters. Getting a dual viewpoint adds good depth to the story, and I felt like I got to know all of the characters better- even the peripheral ones. Every emotion, every thought… it all just came alive as the words flew by.
But that ending… just left me breathless. I will be waiting anxiously for Fox. Is it May 20 yet???
I received an ARC of this book, and I voluntarily chose to write an honest review.
This series is so many things. It’s a stray from the usual laugh-out-loud humor that Max Monroe stimulates us with. This story is mystery, intrigue, shock, heartbreak, and tickles your obsession about morbid curiosity. Stone, Cold, Fox was ultimately the opposite of what I was expecting, that it intensified the reading experience. I became a part of this story. I became so invested in these characters that it is so hard to let them go. Since this is about murder, mystery, loss, and love, I don’t want to give anything away. However, if you enjoy getting into an intriguing novel that embraces the intensity of its characters, read this immediately.
“I swore I’d never fall again. But this wasn’t even falling. This was being awakened.”
What I love about this series, is that it’s so different from what these two authors normally write.
I can see the care to details that were given.
The descriptive words really make you feel like you are apart of the story. It’s a sensory overload.
As Ivy and Levi continue to work out their attraction for one another, they discover that they have started to share a real bond with Grace being the glue.
I’m truly in anticipation for the conclusion of this series.
NO SPOILERS!
WHAT. DID. I. JUST. READ?! Seriously, I’m almost speechless. I’m in an utter state of shock at the moment, and I’m not sure how to process everything. Cold was an insanely angsty, emotional, and suspenseful second installment in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy, and I absolutely loved it! The storyline and characters were even better this time around, and Max Monroe further solidified my love of their writing style and the amazing and unforgettable stories they continue to create. The second part of Levi and Ivy’s story was amazing from beginning to end, and it definitely left me craving for Fox, the third and final installment. I am wholeheartedly addicted to the Stone Cold Fox trilogy, and can’t wait to find out what happens next!
The storyline in Cold was even more raw and riveting, and I couldn’t get enough. I was addicted from the first page to the last, and was dying for more when I finished. I expected the cliffhanger, but I in no way predicted that specific ending. I had some ideas of what might happen, but in this case I hated being semi-right about the events that took place at the end of Cold. It wasn’t what I wanted and broke my heart into a million little pieces, but it still left me craving book three, Fox.
The characters have continued to blow me away, and I loved them even more in Cold. Levi and Ivy have ingrained themselves close to my heart, and although their story has been an emotional and sometimes heartbreaking journey, I couldn’t help but fall in love with everything. Okay, maybe not everything, but pretty darn close. There were a few instances and characters, especially in this book, that I didn’t like whatsoever, but at least it wasn’t enough to diminish my love of Levi and Ivy’s story. As I stated above, the ending of Cold shocked the ever-living crap out of me, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Fox next.
Cold was an angsty, suspenseful, and very emotional sequel to Stone, and although it wasn’t always easy to read, I would HIGHLY recommend it and the rest of the Stone Cold Fox trilogy! Max Monroe has truly outdone themselves with Levi and Ivy’s story so far, and I can’t wait to read the conclusion in Fox!
4 1/2 out of 5 stars
I enjoyed the first book, Stone. I liked getting to know the characters and I thought I would really hate Levi after what he did, BUT I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book brought out some strong emotions from me and Levi was mostly responsible for that.
The story continues right from where it left off and Ivy is rightfully angry and Levi is regretful. I think it’s better to just read the story than have me tell you what happened, but I promise you will feel everything from anger to sad to relief and so much more. I went in to the series mostly blind because I knew I liked the author and I think that’s the best way to read it as well.
I so, so, so can’t wait for Fox – is it out yet?! This trilogy got better with book 2 and I think it’ll get even better with book 3!!
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
Wow!!! Book 2 started off with a bang and ending the same way!
I don’t even know how to review this other than it was awesome! Levi and Ivy have a complicated relationship it’s a love hate she can’t forgive him and he can’t forget her.
He has finally decided to let someone in after 6 years but it’s not easy for either of them because Ivy can’t forgive him easily but that’s part of the challenge.
Levi is having a hard time opening up and letting someone else in he wants to but old habits die hard.
OMFG WHAT AN ENDING. HOLY FUCK I DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING.
Max Monroe this Triology is like none other you have written or I have read. It’s so freaking Phenomenal, it’s captivating, thrilling and the thrills and twists were All WTF just happened moments.
Ladies without saying more than I should cos I can’t give alot away please please grab this book. OMFG ARE YOU ALL IN FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIVES.
Brilliantly written and left Shredded Ladies. I need the next book now
Enjoy!!!!
You’re killing me Smalls! Oh man I was a mixed bag of feelings on this one. I wanted to spork a couple of eyes out and start throwing some elbows at Levi and Ivy. There’s so much back-and-forth between these two I’m getting whiplash. Ivy is running all hot and cold and then at one point, I thought she was going to burst into flames. But we’re getting down to the nitty-gritty and we get another great cliffy. Gah I can’t wait for the conclusion, it’s getting so dang good. I’m really liking this whole mystery thing that MM has going on. I wasn’t sure with the first book but I’m turning around and really digging it!
Max Monroe you are now becoming the masters of the cliffhanger. I thought Stone was a heartbreaker in the end. You killed it with Cold. The second installment in this trilogy finds Ivy and Levi working through their trust of one another and Levi’s past, which is front and center in the movie that Ivy is starring in. Excellently written to get into the characters head. Sexy scenes. Action. One hell of a fluffing cliffhanger. Fox can’t come out soon enough.
4.5*
Cold, the second installment in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy by Max Monroe, is just as awesome, if not more so, than Stone. Picking right up from where Stone ended, with Ivy so angry and broken hearted, and Levi frustrated and angry with himself, set on making things right between them. The chemistry and passion between these two ratchets up a notch in this book, leaving them both not knowing if they are coming or going! Such intense feelings were brought out and laid bare, there was no way to guess what we were in for next.
I loved the progression of Levi in this book. Ivy was so mad at him, so hateful towards him at times even, but he didn’t let that stop him in his pursuit of her. He knew he had screwed up big time and he wanted nothing more to make it up to her. I was really happy with how he opened up, sharing things with Ivy that he had kept closed off for the past six years. Ivy wasn’t taking it easy on Levi, and even though I couldn’t blame her for the most part, I was a little surprised at how kind of awful and spiteful she could be. She did her best to close herself off from him, but Levi, when he sets his intentions on you, is a hard one to deny.
I was even more on edge reading this book than I was with Stone. I was completely riveted! I knew something big was coming, (the anxiety was real!) but what it was I did not know. There was a time when I thought I had something worked out in my head, but Max Monroe completely threw me for a twist! It’s no secret that this book ends on a cliffhanger, and lord have mercy I’ve never wanted a month to fly by so quickly. Honestly, with the way Cold ended I’m not sure where MM plans to take us in Fox, but I for one will be along for the ride!
‘A hero hidden in an asshole’
There’s probably no better description for Levi Fox that truly epitomizes who he is or has become more than the above statement. Since being introduced to Levi in Stone, readers have witnessed his contradictory behavior, his hot/cold demeanor towards Ivy Stone, and because we’ve watched this ‘alpha-bastard’s’ treatment of Ivy, despite the reality of how Levi truly sees her and feels about her, it’s easy to understand why Ivy feels confused and trampled on by the man who seems to own her, even when he makes her cry.
But in Cold, Levi begins to show who he is underneath the cold front that he’s displayed, which is why it makes sense that Ivy can’t walk away from him or avoid him at all costs because no matter how much of a frigid bitch she is to him, he knows he deserves it, so he endures her rage and her ‘cold silence’ because what he feels for her is something he can’t let go of and now that he has a second chance, he refuses to go down without a fight.
With Levi’s actions at the end of book one, Ivy has every reason to shut him out; he broke her heart and her trust, and that kind of damage is difficult to come back from, but as much as Ivy’s entrenched in emotional overload, not only from Levi’s actions and attitude, but also due to the nature of the script and who she’s portraying, she needs Levi more than I think she even realizes, so when Levi works to make amends and also lets her in, unearthing truths that few if any people know, Levi and Ivy find a common ground and they work together on their respective fears, which makes them understand just how right they are together and how their ‘fighting means they’re feeling’ which also means they’re ‘living’ and that hasn’t been something Levi has done for quite some time.
But Max Monroe’s Stone Cold Fox Trilogy is romantic suspense, so amidst the movie-version of Levi’s real-life playing out in front of him, there are also incidences occurring in Cold, Montana, that feel an awful lot like history repeating itself, so when the chain of events play out and readers are left with one hell of a conclusion, it’s anyone’s guess what’s going to happen in book three but what seems clear is that life will never be the same for Ivy Stone but what that means for her relationship with Levi or her ability to live her life cannot be determined until readers are privy to Ivy’s internal thoughts and the fallout of the events in Cold are handled.
Max Monroe has done a great job with the first two books in their Stone Cold Fox Trilogy. The books have been intriguing, suspenseful, and emotional, and as the series continues, readers begin to truly understand who Levi Fox and Ivy Stone are and why there’s this undeniable connection between them. I love the fact that Max Monroe reveals more truths about what happened to Grace and provides Levi’s thoughts and feelings when it comes to the case and his relationship with her. All of that information is crucial for Ivy to understand why Levi’s treated her the way he has and with that information out in the open, they stand a much better chance of making things work between them than they did if Levi would have keep those details to himself.
I would be remiss in my review if I didn’t acknowledge that I figured out the plot twist pretty early on in Cold, and while it didn’t necessarily detract from my enjoyment of the book, I wish there wouldn’t have been as many hints along the way to make that assumption fairly quickly into book 2 of the trilogy. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there were a lot of readers who didn’t anticipate the events that occur in Cold, and maybe it’s just because I’m an English teacher that I can quickly deduce from the clues that are given where the plot line is headed, but I do wish they would have been less obvious.
Despite that knowledge, though, I truly enjoyed every part of the Cold; I understand why Ivy tried to keep Levi at a distance, but it also made sense that once she talked things through with Levi and learned important information from him that she would be willing to explore the feelings between them. But now that the town has, once again, been shaken to its core, I’m not sure if anyone will ever be the same, and when further details are revealed, I’m not sure how Ivy, especially, will be able to cope with the aftermath.

Mary Jo –
This is the second installment in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy and it didn’t disappoint. I know I’m repeating myself, but this series is nothing like Max Monroe has written before. It’s gritty and heartfelt.
The emotions that Levi has kept locked down are finally seeping to the surface and he doesn’t know what to do with them. He doesn’t want to be hurt again, and he doesn’t know how to handle the emotions that Ivy has stirred up inside him.
Ivy is heartbroken over the kiss that Camilla and Levi shared even though she knows she has no right to be. She’s denied it to everyone, including herself, that she has feelings of any kind for Levi. When Camilla finally confronts her, Ivy has no choice to admit her feelings for Levi.
Levi knows that winning Ivy’s trust is not going to be easy and it’s something that he is willing to devote his life to earning back. When Ivy begins to get mysterious gifts and messages, his instincts tell him that trouble is near.
Max Monroe does sex and steamy better than most but what I’m learning is that they also do heartfelt just as well.
Ruthie –
This is the second book in the series, and you absolutely need to have read Stone first. This continues from the romantically complex cliffhanger of Stone.
I am really enjoying the plot and the people in this trilogy. This book advances the story significantly and leads us to another knife-edge situation. I do, however, struggle with the slow pace with which Levi and Ivy angst over liking each other, or more. I found it repetitive to go over the same ground repeatedly. There are moments of clarity which are really important and give us much more understanding into Grace’s story as well as Levi’s rationale for being cautious with his feelings.
Now I need the final book, so that all these twists and turns can give us the happy ending that we desire. There are some quite big issues to resolve first, I fear!
Reviewers on the Wicked Reads Review Team were provided a free copy of Cold (Stone Cold Fox Trilogy #2) by Max Monroe to read and review.
This has been a masterful series by Max Monroe. It’s not to be missed with it’s exciting characters, intriguing plot, and page-turning angst. Book 2 in a 3 book series, Levi & Ivy’s story continues with it’s fast-paced anticipation and frenemies-to-lovers journey. A favorite series of the year for me.
I don’t even know where to start with this review. I’m still in shock at the ending and am dying for May 20th, so I can get some closure! The Stone Cold Fox trilogy has kept me guessing at every turn! This trilogy is different from Max Monroe’s previous books, but it just goes to show this duo can write anything. This series is so good and I about cried when I got to the end of Cold, because I don’t want it to end.
Ivy and Levi have been in a constant tug of war. She is hurt by Levi’s actions, but he isn’t letting her anger hold him back. Levi finally wakes up and decides to fight for what he wants and is doing everything in his power to get her back, which includes telling Ivy details of the events leading up to Grace’s death. Stuff that nobody knows including Grace’s family. When Ivy and Levi finally let everything go, it was explosive!
Cold is so full of angst and passion! It gave me all the feels and I highly recommend reading these books! They will take you on the ride of your life!
Book 2 in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy and I can’t say anything beyond: Holy crap on a cracker, that ending! Wow!
“Give me your lips.”
“Give me your tongue.”
“Give me your pleasure.”
Give me. Give me. Give me.
My brain wanted to defy him.
My heart wanted to give him everything.
If I get too into this, I’ll be spoilery. And I’ve promised to not ruin this trilogy for anyone. That being said, you MUST READ STONE before reading Cold or you will be so lost and so confused and then you’ll give it a bad rating and that would be sad because this is the PERFECT SECOND BOOK. No joke, there is progression, there is love and hate, there is sex and fighting, and so much more.
Levi and Ivy are, well, they are special. They are special in the way they can’t resist each other no matter how hard they try. And after the crazy ending of the first book, you just know they are resisting each other.
It’s gonna take some serious convincing to get these two back on speaking terms. Max Monroe finds a way to get them to the exact place they need to be. They know how to mend hearts and break them. They know how to leave us in suspense all while pushing us further into a story, into a town, and into the hearts of our characters.
You will feel things in this book. Those feelings are not limited to happiness, sadness, or anything in between. It’s a ride you didn’t realize you wanted to take until you are almost finished. And that’s the same time you really, really don’t want the ride to end.
But it does.
And until Fox releases in May, we’ll be sitting in that weird spot between hanging off the edge and actually falling.
Cold is the second book in the Stone Cold Fox Trilogy by Max Monroe. This book is different from the regular ROM-COM Max Monroe stories. If you haven’t read Stone yet, it is a MUST to understand where Cold starts off.
Ivy and Levi are back, and boy are they ever! This book is soooo GOOD, and I couldn’t put it down. Reading Cold had my emotions all over the place … I laughed, cried, cheered, and then was gutted. So much is revealed. The twist at the end was devilishly good. Max Monroe you did it again!
Seriously this is a MUST READ, and I NEED the release of “Fox” book 3 in this Trilogy NOW! I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book but I still bought the book. It was that good!
I am leveled! This series is mad good!
Well, Levi… Ivy is handing back to you what dished out to her in Stone. How does it feel when roles are reversed?! So, the translation to what I just said is…this book is explosive and angsty folks! Their chemistry is like fireworks on the fourth of July! This is not sparkler in a parade chemistry, this is grand finale type pyrotechnics.
So, on top of all of that there is suspense and a giant cliff (hanger) to fall off of! I can’t wait for Fox!
This is the second installment of Max Monroe’s trilogy, and if you thought part one left you with questions, just wait.
It was hot. Steamy. Sexy as sin. And a complete mind trip.
I can’t wait for the last installment next month!
Can someone just come over and hold me? Because that ending has me dying.
So I knew that Max Monroe maybe kind of try to give us heart attacks but man oh man I was not prepared for the turn this story took. I was just sitting and staring at nothing trying to process whatever I’d read. I was a bloody mess!!
Part 2 of this story was more on the emotional side as we see Levi coming to terms with whatever he did wrong in STONE and Ivy trying to deal with the aftermath of her heart-break. But don’t worry Max Monroe packed it with amazing angst and hotness that you could almost get through the feels without crying. Almost!
I think Max Monroe should receive a standing ovation for Levi’s character development. I was sure I wanted to see him beg and grovel but one line and that man was in my good graces again. It’s like he never left.
I am in awe and a little bit scared of Max Monroe cause I feel like these two can do anything and I’d be like do it more I love it.
HOLY FLIPPING FLIP!!!!!! Excuse me while I go curl in the fetal position and sob like a baby.
This book, just blew me away, like utterly blew me away. I am trying to find the correct words to use, because Jesus, I was just thrown for the biggest loop ever to be known in the literary world. This book takes on a whole new meaning of passion, chemistry, and angst. This is the second book in the Stone Cold Fox Trilogy. It is the continuation of Levi and Ivy, and it picks up from where we was left off from Stone the first book.
Stone was a slow burn, things took time to develop, but when it did finally take off, we were left with a bunch of questions, and a lot of curiosity. In COLD, many of those questions are answered, but some things still leave you curious. The push and the pull between Ivy and Levi is so palpable. The struggle that each character goes through to find themselves is inspiring to watch. The barriers that both Levi and Ivy try to overcome, even more inspiring. AND THE CHEMISTRY, IS EXPLOSIVE, off the charts, smoking hot!!
THE PLOT: We are not even going there. BECAUSE THIS PLOT IS JUST … Look, I ain’t giving anything away. This Trilogy, you want to go in blind. That’s what makes this series what it is. I never thought that Max Monroe could create a series anything like this, but they have. AND they have exceeded any expectation of what I thought I would have. This series is worth your time, worth your money, and most definitely worth every emotion you will indeed face as you you read it.
