Cold Truth grabbed me from the first line and never let go. The suspense, the angst, the attraction between Kiera and Coop, the faith journey of the couple, the tightness of the Blackwell Tactical team, and the mystery of who was behind the murder and theft kept me up way too late! Susan Sleeman does an excellent job of combining all of those elements to give her readers an extremely well-written book.
I highly recommend this book to romantic suspense readers. In fact, I recommended it to my mother. I am glad to have found this series in KU and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Cold Fury.
Okay, maybe because I have three siblings, but I have always loved books about siblings and found families. I think that underneath all the suspense and romance the Cold Harbor books showcases the strength and loyalty you can find from relying on your family. In this Cold Harbor book you see all of the characters that you’ve loved in the first book with one new one, Kiera.
Kiera is looking for her brother Kevin who is being accused of stealing a deadly toxin. Kiera does not believe that at all, but unfortunately, Cooper does. I really liked Kiera. She had enough spunk to fight with Cooper which he really needed, but she also complimented him with her gentleness. I didn’t like Cooper at first, but he really grew on me. Cooper was really tough, but he had a good reason. While his inability to trust Kiera was really frustrating, I was able to see his side of things. I honestly just wanted him to just get over himself and trust her, but it always takes forever for the characters to realize that.
I think that the book really kept you guessing which was frustrating and amazing. I really liked how real the characters felt and how quickly you got invested into them. I think that the romance was also super sweet. I loved seeing how Kiera and Cooper made each other better. I think that they both had a lot of issues that they needed to work through, but they both showed how love keeps trying. I would definitely recommend this book, and it was clean without any language or too intense scenes.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I liked this book in spite of the fact that I had a hard time liking the female main character. Kiera Underwood’s twin brother is missing and suspected of stealing a chemical mixture from the lab where he works. She gets involved with Blackwell Tactical operative Cooper Ashcroft in the investigation. Kiera is suffering from a childhood where she was coddled by wealthy parents and especially her mother who hovered over her, so now she doesn’t want anyone to tell her what to do. She wants to be independent and make her own life but to me she comes across as being spoiled and wanting her own way. She is always interfering in the investigation. As she and Coop fall in love she wants things her way and gets herself in danger. I enjoyed this bool in spite of all that as they worked on a complicated puzzle to find her brother, Kevin, before someone kills him. I recommend this book to all Romantic Suspense fans.
Cold Truth by Susan Sleeman
Cold Harbor Series Book Two
Former Army Ranger, Cooper “Coop” Ashcroft goes on facts. Not emotions. So even though the beautiful woman he’s brought back to the Blackwell Tactical compound seems like she really just wants to find her brother…the facts show that her brother—and possibly the woman herself—could be guilty of a theft of a dangerous substance.
Kiera Underwood may have grown up in need of nothing, but she still worked for what she has. Most of all her independence. She is finally out of the stifling protection of her mother and suddenly she’s under the protection of the bossy…but, oh so handsome Coop. Only…he doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t believe she’s innocent.
The men and woman of Blackwell Tactical are tough, ready to protect, and will do what’s right. They have all been injured and can no longer work in the fields they loved; law enforcement or the military. Thanks to Gage Blackwell, they once again have jobs they love. Loving the series, the characters, and the secondary characters.

I was hooked from the first page of Cold Truth. Action, intrigue, suspense, great characters, tension, romance and faith elements that aren’t preachy. I’m am so happy this is a series because I want more!
this is another great story in the series. she is hunting for her brother, her twin, he is following her because they think her brother stole from where he worked. she does not want to trust him but she needs to have protection and help, we get to see all of the people from the unit. if you like suspense you have to read this story
Cold Truth by Susan Sleeman is the second book in the Cold Harbor series. “Let’s play a game,” is the words research chemist Kiera Underwood hears when she answers her phone. The voice goes on to say that if she doesn’t figure out the puzzle her brother will die. Not being able to get her brother to answer his phone she heads to Cold Harbor to find out what’s going on. Kevin has disappeared along with a biotoxin from Oceanic Labs. Former Army Ranger, Coop Ashcroft, and the rest of the Blackwell Tactical team are hired to find the toxin and Kevin. Is Kiera involved or innocent? Coop must protect Kiera when an attempt is made on her life. I stayed up way too late reading this book! Susan has a way of pulling you in from the first sentence and she doesn’t let you go until the story is all told. Along the way she weaves her love of God into that story without being “preachy”. I love how her characters are always so human; struggling with everyday problems that we struggle with. And how they always manage to find the Peace and trust that they were searching for. I highly recommend any book by Susan Sleeman!
I received this e-book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
This is an intricately woven romantic suspense novel!
The main characters are extremely well developed. They both have issues with trusting others that keep cropping up and causing friction between them. I love the fact that the main characters from book one appear in supporting rolls in this story. We have a chance to peak in and see how their lives are progressing.
The plot is fantastic. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing, and turning pages.
I’m looking forward to seeing what comes up in future books in the series for the rest of the Blackwell Tactical team. I love this type of series because each book is a stand-alone story and yet they give us more chance to see the different characters.
I received a free copy of this eBook from the author. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.
