Susan Sleeman is outstanding! I can’t say enough about her books!! This is the first in her Cold Harbor series, of which I’m anxiously awaiting the next one coming out January 1st!
Easy to read. I enjoyed it even if it got a little sappy.
Good story. This book is filled with action, suspense, romance, family, friends, faith, and more.
This book was well-written and well-edited. I enjoyed everything about this book and will be reading more books by Susan Sleeman.
This is a suspenseful story full of surprises that will keep you enthralled. I enjoyed this read and looking forward to the next story in the series.
“We just have to keep moving. Put one foot in front of the other and trust that God can see further ahead than we can. He has our best interests at heart, and it will all end up good for us.”
This was a fun first book to what I believe will be a great series! Gage and Hannah were super fun characters and the mystery was interesting and surprising. I really didn’t anticipate how it was going to end, but it was also plausible. I really hope the rest of the series we get to know more about the rest of Gage’s team because I think that would be great!
I very much enjoyed this book which tells the story of Hannah and Gage and how they reconnected after many years apart. Both have lost their spouses and are raising a child but Hannah is in need of protection and Gage is the one who can help. Both have matured and grown in their faith but need time to to learn to risk giving love another try. This book is very easy to read and doesn’t require much time so the perfect get away in the midst of life that keeps us busy.
A handsome, kind, and intense guy saves his old girlfriend from a dangerous killer. Add the fact that the guy has managed to start an organization to help injured military and police personnel, an adorable little girl, and a willingness to trust God despite the tough times. You have a super sweet romance. The main girl character Hannah is incredibly admirable. She is struggling with her faith at the moment, but she’s working hard to be a good mother to her little boy and stay strong despite her tough job.
Gage Blackwell is our hero. He is extremely intense and is still completely in love with Hannah. He has a young daughter named Mia who he absolutely adores, and he is the boss of five other former military and law enforcement heroes. While Gage can be a little overly focused and singularly minded sometimes, he is a really good guy who obviously adores his daughter.
Hannah was formerly married as well, and has a son named David. She is a forensic artist who is working on the face of a dead body. Unfortunately, someone is trying to kill her for reasons she is unsure of. I really liked both Gage and Hannah, and I absolutely adored their kids. I am also a sucker for found families, and it was so cute to picture these big, tough military people with little kids.
I think that the suspense was definitely tangible. I was on the edge of my seat to see what happened. It was one of those books that you started, and then couldn’t put down. I don’t think that I prefer this book as much as the other one in this series. It was hard because I had to get into these characters while with the other books I was already invested. Even though this was an adult book, it was super clean, and there weren’t any intense themes. I think that it was a really good beginning to an amazing series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I will say right up front that I am not a fan of novellas due to the fact that they seem too rushed for the plot to play out well. But however I enjoyed this one. It was well written and the two main characters’ relationship is well done. This book sets the stage well for the next books in the series. I love Hannah and Gage’s story and the town of Cold Harbor.
Oh my goodness!
I am loving reading Susan Sleeman books! They are packed with suspense, intrigue, action and some twists and turns along the way!
I was hooked from the very first chapter and scene….WOW! What a way to start a book! It made me jump. I’m glad I didn’t read this late at night while being alone!
Susan Sleeman has got a fantastic start to this series. I’m feeling I’m really behind the ball since I know there are a lot more books in this series. I guess I need to get reading to catch up with them all. I can just picture all the characters and know each one will be involved in some great “edge-of-your-seat” suspense and action!
Plus, of course, there probably will be a bit of romance. Sweet!
I can’t wait to dig deeper into this group of larger-than-life heroes!
If you love action, suspense, and intrigue, then I highly recommend you pick this series up and start reading it!
I received this book from the author for an honest review and ALL opinions are my own!
Cold Terror is a page turner! Keeping you on your toes wondering if Gage and Hannah will figure out the who, what and why of Hannah’s fear! And second chances for both of them!
really enjoyed this book. It was action packed, unpredictable and a little scary. Well done
I volunteered to read and review a copy of Cold Terror . I really enjoyed this story .

Cold Terror by Susan Sleeman
Cold Harbor Series Book One
Hannah Perry, a forensic artist, is supposed to be on vacation. She couldn’t just say no to the sheriff of Cold Harbor when asked if she could reconstruct a skull they’d discovered. This person had the right to be given an identity. For a family to be given peace. Only, there was anything but peace for Hannah.
Gage Blackwell couldn’t believe it when he rescued a small boy and a woman. A woman he knew and hadn’t seen for ten years. And then, he had to protect her and her young son. Someone was trying to kill her… Not on his watch!
Blackwell Tactical hires those who’d been in the law enforcement or the military, but due to injuries, had to retire. Now they work for Gage doing what they do best…protecting. I really enjoyed this story. The secondary characters are wonderful and I can’t wait to read their stories. The children really add a lot to the story too.

What a great start to a series! The book seemed shorter than I expected, but that wasn’t a problem. It may also have been because I couldn’t put it down. I could feel the terror the main character felt as things progressed. The tension between her and the main male character was gripping, as well. I enjoyed learning how the team was formed and getting to know the characters. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. Great suspense book!
Susan Sleeman has done it again! Love her books with suspense and romance! Hannah, widow of a SEAL, mother of a young son and trying to hide from an attempt on her life, is a brave leading female character! Former SEAL and Hannah’s old boyfriend, Gage, is an great male protagonist as he tries to protect Hannah. You will be trying to figure out why anyone would want to kill Hannah! I highly recommend Cold Terror to anyone who enjoys suspense! I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Really worth reading
The book starts off with action and never ends which kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked Hannah right away. I loved reading about her job as a forensic sketch artist. It is a very rewarding job that can give closure to families. After losing her husband in a tragic accident, Hannah is trying to pick up the pieces of her life.
Taking a vacation with her son seemed like a great idea until danger enters her cozy little cottage. The struggle she had with the intruder was intense and I held my breath as she tries to escape. When Gage is introduced in the story , I instantly liked him. I love stories about Navy Seals and their determination to do their mission. It was interesting to read that Hannah and Gage knew each other.
There is definitely some friction between the two, but Gage is going to keep Hannah and her son safe at all costs. Hannah seems a bit hesitant to trust Gage. Will she allow Gage to do his job and catch whoever is after her? I loved how Hannah began to realize that God had a plan for her. When something goes wrong in your life, you tend to blame God. You forget that he has never left you. The fact that Hannah finally grasped that helped her to learn to trust Gage.
The story is a great start to a new series that promises intense action and characters that jump off the pages. I really enjoyed the time Hannah and Gage spent together letting each other know of pain from their past. The author does a great job of allowing us to see the vulnerable side of Gage. He is a tough guy and is fierce at his job, but he lets his guard down a bit when he is around Hannah. The ending is high caliber action. I can’t forget to mention how creative the author is about how Hannah is being tracked by someone who wants her dead. It’s a very well written story that reminds us to forgive, trust God and never give up.
I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.
A bit long winded but then the story developed and held my attention. Light easy reading.
Enjoyed it enough to look for more by this author
A pretty good read but was too short and was clearly written by a woman. That’s fine if you only want to appeal to one gender but…
