Dani Pettrey Launches a New Romantic Suspense SeriesIn college, Griffin McCray and his four best friends had their lives planned out. Griffin and Luke Gallagher would join the Baltimore PD. Declan Gray would head to the FBI and Parker Mitchell would go on to graduate school as a crime scene analyst. But then Luke vanished before graduation and their world–and friendships–crumbled. Now Griffin … friendships–crumbled.
Now Griffin is a park ranger at Gettysburg, having left life as a SWAT-team sniper when a case went bad. The job is mostly quiet–until the day he captures two relic hunters uncovering skeletal remains near Little Round Top. Griffin just wants the case to go away, but charming forensic anthropologist Finley Scott determines that the body is modern–a young social justice lawyer missing since spring–and all evidence points to the work of an expert sniper. When FBI agent Declan Gray takes over the case, past and present collide. Griffin soon realizes he’ll need to confront some of the darkest days of his life if he–and those he cares about–are going to escape a downward spiral of murder that crosses continents.

Forgiveness is a powerful weapon. I enjoyed watching as Griffin came to this realization. Spiritual truths are woven gracefully within the pages without being preachy.
Fast-paced, heart pounding suspense! I was immediately pulled into the story. The twists and turns kept me turning the pages.
I connected so much with the characters that I wanted to look on Amazon for the brand of tea they were drinking.
Recommend to readers who enjoy clean, romantic suspense.
I borrowed a copy from my local library. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

COLD SHOT by Dani Pettrey Chesapeake Valor series. 1
4 guys in college decided to go into serving the public then 1 goes missing. Griffin changes job after a failed sniper job went bad. Now park ranger, with remains of the civil war buried to patrol. Till someone wants to dig one up and maybe find something of value. The find, a body, a ring, that are too new, and someone wants this Jane Doe. Finley trying to overcome fears of the night and noises. Griffen trying to overcome his loss and shuts himself off. A gripping story, of why someone is going to such length and continues, wanting the body. Killing all that stands in his way. The characters are well defined and what personal things they are dealing with. A good beginning to a new series, her books are always winner, and doesn’t disappoint the readers..
The suspense…edge of the seat. The romance…sizzling and tense. The characters…wounded, yet strong. This was a good start to what promises to be a thrilling series. I really enjoy teams of talented people using their various skills to solve crimes and bring justice to the victims.
I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
LOVED this book. Dani is an incredible author and is able to keep the interest of the reader and also provide twists and turns to the plot and characters’s actions. She does not disappoint !
The best christian fiction book I’ve ever read up to this point!
Interesting story. A little slow moving. Somewhat predictable as to what will happen next.
Cold Shot is the first in a series of Christian Romantic Suspense books. Each book is able to be read on its own but, having first read # 2 in the series, I am glad that I backtracked to Cold Shot to get the big picture. This series is strong on suspense, but equally strong on romance. Each of the characters, male and female are strong Christians who handle their high pressure jobs and personal issues in a mature God led life. I am very glad that I have found this, and other, Dani Pettrey series .
It was a page turner. Inspirational, and action packed. Enjoyed
Good read!
I really enjoyed this book. I read it in 2 days. Couldn’t put it down. Enjoyed the twists in the plot.
I liked it going to read the next in the series
As a die hard fan of The McKenna family, finishing the last book of Dani Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage series was bittersweet. Like me, if you are mourning the loss of your fictional friends it’s time to rejoice over the new ones Dani has written for us.
Cold Shot recaptures the family feel I cherished in previous books by introducing readers to four men whose friendships began on their childhood little league baseball field. Griffin McCray takes center stage in book one along with his romantic interest Finley Scott. The two begin the story with some familiarity which skirted my personal distaste for insta-love. Even with it’s rather large cast, the author devotes ample time to developing the depth of her characters. My curiosity has been piqued and I’m eager to get to know each member more completely as the series unfolds.
With each turn of the page Pettrey grips readers with a sense of urgency. If you enjoy a tightly plotted story with a few unexpected twists, you’ll love Cold Shot!

I loved this book! I’m on the third one! Already bought the forth! Can’t wait for it to be here!
What a great story. This book starts out with a bang right from the start. I have to be honest I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book so it came as a surprise that I liked it so much. I have read several of Dani Pettrey’s books so I knew she wrote stuff I usually liked.
It has great main characters, interesting secondary people and a plenty of action and surprises. Oh and don’t forget the romance. It’s a clean story with the Christian elements of people who have invited God into their lives and are working their lives out. I liked that but I know others might not. In some Christian books that would mean that the story might be not as good, that isn’t the case here.
Finley Scott, keep an eye on her because she is going to play an important part in this book. She’s smart, and good at her job. She reminds me of Dr. Temperance Brennan from the TV show, “Bones”. Although there are some major differences like Finley’s faith in God but also she tends to draw people to her and she is not socially awkward.
Of course another difference is no in-depth autopsy pictures or gruesome explanations.
Griffin is trying NOT to keep his eye on Finley but he’s fighting his interest in her . But as you can guess, it’s not working very well. He has so much on his plate emotionally that he doesn’t want to be romantically involved. But as much as he tries to backpedal, he can’t. And now he is going to have to spend more time with her on this case.
I liked both Declan, and Parker who are brought into this case because their skills are needed. They were good additions to the book, but their stories went only so far because I suspect they each have their own stories too. Which I would like to read as well. We did see what we needed to see about what caused the animosity between Parer and Griffin.
It was good to see the “old team” working together again and doing a pretty good job of it. Of course, Finley is part of the newer members of the unofficial team working with them. Also add Avery Tate to that list. She has a story to tell but it wasn’t told here.
I’m looking forward to more of the books in this series. After reading this one with all the twists and turns, it’s looking good for the other ones.
Author is awesome, Great read.
