Some stories require in-depth reviews, some a few lines; others, like this story only require a few simple words…
Darkness, Action, Passion, Epic-ness, Boldness and Perfection.
I went into this story mostly blind and I highly recommend it to other readers. There is so much to this story and the impact it has not only on the characters, but the reader; that needs to be experienced without previous knowledge.
This story is cold, dark and seductive. It slowly seeps into your being and surprisingly warms you from the inside out.
As expected from this truly talented author, this story is fantastically written with detailed and in-depth characters, amazing worlds, hot scenes, no excess drama and a HEA to satisfy all. It was my extreme pleasure to receive this ARC and I am leaving an my honest review.

Queen Elzira Whitestone reigned the Norta Icelands since she was very young. For years she protected her land and her beloved sister while she slowly dying from an ever-present illness.
King Ryke Bloodsun of Souta Volcanoes craved to conquer the unknown lands beyond her border. His ambition brought him to her castle with a proposal to merge their kingdoms. But what he found there was more than he bargained for.
I love dark erotic stories. I also love fairytale retelling. This book is a satisfying union of both.
Elzira and Ryke were both ruthless in their own way. They had good chemistry together and the erotic scenes could melt the icicles. I like their interactions, though I have to say sometimes it felt off and out of character when things felt a bit too contemporary for a fantasy setting.
I truly enjoyed the fantasy elements in this book especially the battle between fire and ice – both literally and figuratively. The storyline was interesting with violence and plenty of heads rolling off lol!
Cold Queen is a tale of secrets and ambitions. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a dark erotic fairytale retelling.
Take that Elsa…
Webster’s contribution to the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection was a twist on Frozen
This is one you do not want to pass up!
Cold Queen has everything I look for in a solid read:
One seriously hot Alpha male
One determined ice queen
Betrayal – lots of betrayals
Action and suspense – in spades
A Strong supporting cast that I want more of
And most importantly an HFN
I burned through this story in one sitting
If you can get away with reading this undisturbed take it!
Bloodsun is all the things I like in my book boyfriend – oh did I forget to mention? He’s mine –
Smart – Smexy – A touch sadistic – Fun (I loved his darker sense of humor) and all kinds of Cavemen when it comes to coveting what is his.
Watching him bring Elzira out of her frozen state was magical –
Watching Elzira become the woman she was meant to be?
Transcendent!
A great cast of characters. I hope the author expands on some of them in future releases.
A Wonderful story that checked all the boxes
I laughed – I fumed – I awwww – I hoped
This is definitely sinister. I couldn’t help but be intrigued from the first page and needed to know how this was going to develop. There’s mystery and heartache and coldness but also passion and love and fire! There’s even the twist that you don’t see coming until it’s too late. I don’t know how sinister this makes me but I loved it!
Cold Queen by K. Webster is a deliciously dark, steamy and twisted retelling of the Disney film “Frozen “. Really, it’s like a whole new story based on Frozen and what a story it is.
This book has it all- betrayal, lust, illusions, sickness, heartbreak, passion, feels, action, and love.
The characters of Queen Elzira Whitestone of the Norta Icelands, Punisher of the Damned and King Ryke Bloodsun, the Truth Seeker of the Souta have this chemistry together. They click immediately even though Ryke is to marry the Princess who is the Queen’s half sister Yanna. Ryke doesn’t understand why the Queen is dying while everyone else is alive and living. From then on the story is full on fabulous- there on twists and turns, dark and twisted. This is classic K. Webster at her best. The plot, characters, scenery and romance all come together to harmonize and make a fantasy read – one that is beautiful, sizzling, unique, and captivating. This is one retelling fairytale that you don’t want to miss!!!
My Rating: 4.8 stars *******
Wow this book was written by an amazing Author K.Webster did an amazing job of retelling this fairy tale. I am not going to spoil what fairy tale it is definitely check out this book you will not be disappointed. The characters were a treat to read.
Elzira Whitestone became a queen and it killed the little girl inside her. But she always made sure to protect those she loved and had left – her sister and her father’s most trusted warrior, Cavon. And she was a fierce and ice cold queen who ruled her land. Then one day King Bloodsun rode into her empire to speak to her. Will he leave having gotten what he wanted? Will Elzira allow him what he wants?
Holy smokes Batman, but this was AMAZING!! I will admit to not reading a lot of paranormal/fantasy stuff any longer, but I am glad I read this one because absolutely adored Cold Queen. It’s pure entertainment from the first page clear to the last page of the sweet epilogue. Elzira may be a badass, fierce queen, but with her love, her king, by her side, she allows a different side of her to come out. It’s like an episode of Game of Thrones at its best – sexy, riveting, and always giving you enough that you crave what comes next. I really hope K Webster has more planned for Elzira, Ryke and all their children and loved ones.
4.5 stars
I’ve only ever read contemporary work by this author so wasn’t sure what to expect here. I have to say I think she did a fantastic job of writing a twisted fairytale. For me it was more grey than truly dark, but the intrigue and fast paced plot was still hugely entertaining and well executed.
Very, very loosely based on ‘Frozen’ this tale of Fire verses Ice is one I can happily recommend. The chemistry between Elzira and Ryke was so powerful it exploded off the page, a violent and compelling attraction that made this book shine.
Rather than being one big plot idea that is gradually built up to, this is more a series of smaller story lines, that are woven into one amazing love story that will span the eons. It worked so well and gave a book that constantly provided the unexpected. Has K Webster written other paranormal/fantasy books I wonder, because if she has I definitely need to read them.
This book was a surprise in the fact that it reads like a fairy tale ‘Frozen’ with some awesome twists and turns and some epic steaminess. The book shares Queen Elzira’s a story. She is a Queen with a deep and frozen heart (or so she thinks) who is dying whilst trying to protect her kingdom and her sister, Yanna. Elzira has had to grow up fast to take her place on the throne when her beloved father and step-mother are murdered. She takes her younger sister under her wing to look after her rather like a child than a sister, and both of them seem to have a good connection, protecting each other when it is needed.
One day the Bloodsun King, Ryke arrives wanting to use Elzira’s kingdom as a base before he moves on to conquer more lands and also to take a wife who initially is Yanna but then changes rapidly to Elzira when he sees who she is and what she can do. The chemistry between both Elzira and Ryke is smoking hot with a little bit of dominance from Ryke thrown in for good measure as well as the snarkiness that both characters throw at each other. They both definitely content for who is going to be on top….it pretty much is always going to be Ryke!
This story has a lot of layers, firstly you have the fairy story layer, then the additional stories of a variety of characters, then the layer of Elzira and what is happening to her. It is a very intriguing if sinister take on a classic fairy story and it’s not for the faint hearted. The description of the palace and kingdom is wonderful and at times you feel like you are a fly on the wall watching how these characters interact with each other as well as seeing, feeling and smelling the ice and snow that surrounds not only the kingdom but Elzira herself.
The book is surprisingly fast paced, with twists and turns throughout the whole story. If you like your fairy tales dark, twisted and steamy then this one is totally for you!
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

Elzira is ice and Ryke is fire. When the two come together, they clash and sparks fly. Both of them are unwilling to yield to one another but there are other forces that they need to worry about. Particularly Elzira. They say the ones we love hurt us the most…
Without giving too much away, Elzira becomes the person she was always destined to be. I got sucked into this story and loved Ryke. The interactions between him and Elzira were brilliant. The snarky and witty banter between both characters was so much fun to read. Ryke is a strong alpha male who takes charge and his kingliness will not let anyone get in his way once he makes up his mind. Elzira is also someone who will not let anyone walk all over her. Her strength and resilience was excellent. I loved the story! It was engaging, exciting and exhilarating.
Nailed it!!!! From start to finish this retelling story was one I couldn’t put down. It’s “Frozen” but with so much more intensity and heat.
Elzira and Ryke are opposites attract with the most electrifying chemistry. Even though Ryke set out to marry one sister nothing could compare to the explosion that was Elzira. She was cold and bitter but Ryke set out to heat her up and make her his.
Thus couldn’t get any better. One of my favourite retellings ever and if this is how they all are then I am hooked!!!
“Fire and ice.”
“A clashing of two opposites that somehow are perfect together.”
I absolutely LOVED K Webster’s retelling of Frozen! I’m not huge on fantasy and I couldn’t even put it down! The characters were well thought out. The writing is phenomenal! I felt like I was right there, I could picture it all happening before me.
“A king always kneels before his queen.”
This book gave me all the feels. I love how Ryke was protective of Elzira before he even had a chance to get to know her. He literally took over caring for the dying queen. He bought her back to life in more ways then one . Did I mention the sex is HOT?
“We are the lucky ones. Our beasts found each other.”
I wouldn’t call Elzira lucky in the beginning of the story. She’s dying and her powers are dying with her. If it wasn’t for Ryke, she would have been another casualty. She would have Frozen to death. This girl is too trusting with those around her, and even Ryke, although he didn’t give her a choice.
“Our love is destructive.”
“Only for those who attempt to step between it.”
I pity those who try to come between these two. Fire and Ice together is lethal, and they make the perfect couple. With everything they have survived, they come out even stronger in the end. BEST FAIRYTALE EVER!
Wow! Like with the last book in the series, I was sure what to expect. Going in blind is the best way to read a book and I was squeezing with glee when this turned out to be the most exquisite, dark twist to one of the biggest fairytales recently told.
You’ll know when you get started and I’m going to tell you now…cuz I’m sure some of you are SO over watching this movie for the umpteenth time with your kids that you can now settle in with a glass of wine, but this up on your streaming service or DVD; which ever works for you and dig into this decadent tale while the kids watch their movie. You’ll never have to grumble again. It’s a win-win for everyone .
Elzira and Ryke’s story is a fire and ice love story – literally. As Ryke visits Elzira’s kingdom with a proposal to unite against a greater threat, Elzira immediately goes on the defensive. Though she’s just the older sister, her instincts for young Yanna are that of a mother hen, a fierce mother hen. She won’t let some barbarian come into her land and take her sister. No way, no how. But as she uses herself as a barricade against the Volc king, she finds herself warming up to him. He came in as an enemy and quickly came to become an ally.
The chemistry between the two was fire hot with an ice cold tension. It was the perfect amount of friction to keep them both on their toes and keep me interested.
With two books released in this Sinister Fairytale series, I’m LOVING it so far. Both stories have given new life to old favorites and combined everything that was the little girl in me with the naughty minx I am today.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is the second book in the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection. It is recommended that you read all the books in order because part of the questions you had from a previous book will be answered in the following books. I loved this one just as much a I did the first one. This is the story of Queen Elzira Whitestone from the Norta lands and she is young and drying. However she is holding on with everything she has to save her sister. King Ryke has come in to take control of the Northa lands by making the princess his bride. He has a enemy that he needs to fight and basically wants to control all the lands. This story I thought was amazing. It kept me engrossed and there are a lot of secrets that start to fly around when the King comes in to do his hostile take over. It will keep you one the edge of your seat. I am loving this series and can’t wait to see what book we get next and all the exciting things that are going to happen.
Cold Queen by K. Webster is a dark hot version of the movie Frozen I thought. I was a page turning read for me that i didn’t want to put down. I am a fan of Ms. Webster’s writing so for me this was a must read and I like the dark fairy tail type romances.
K Webster plunged the diamondblade of her words deep in my heart and made me bleed feelings. Cold Queen is a mindblowing fantasy romance which is a brilliant combination of Frozen and Game of Thrones with wicked twists and dark turns with her trademark sexy, dirty and angsty storytelling. Only K Webster can make me fall in love with a genre which is out of my comfort zone. Because she has the ability to make any story irresistible!
Elzira, Punisher of the Damned and the ice Queen of Norte has been ruling her country with cold hardness and ruthlessness since her father ‘s untimely death. Her magical power has been saving the four kingdoms from the Damned, the mad demonic people. But she has been decaying slowly and going to a sure death while protecting her sister and people. Until Ryke, king of the Vocte and the Truth Seeker with fire in his veins and danger in his eyes invade her cold castle and demand submission from her. What should have been a painful and traumatic experience becomes an eye opener for Elzira. Because this wicked, cruel, arrogant and infuriating man is slowly infusing heat in her frozen heart and disintegrating body.
This story has everything. A complex plot with surprises and secrets at every turn. You will never know what is going to hit you. It was a heady mixture of conspiracies, royal games, grand wars, magical kingdoms and mythical creatures. And the chemistry between Ryke and Elzira is something epic and straight out of fairy tale if fairy tales had such erotic and intoxicating one. Ryke is the dark knight in fiery armour who will rule Elzira’s body and heart only to rebuild her and remind her. And Elzira will become the magnificent and intimidating queen she was destined to be. They will slay their enemies together and begin a new era of justice and hope. And in middle of all the chaos and pain, their love will bloom like a black rose with thorn of fire.
I was under the hypnotic spell of K Webster’s storytelling in Cold Queen. It was intense, dramatic and unique. It was passionate, sensual and complicated. K Webster has once again proved why she is one of my all time favorite authors. Because only she call pull off an incredible story like Cold Queen.

I am loving the books in this series. These are all fairy tales you know and love with a twist. And what a twist indeed. Elzira is the ice queen. She loses both of her parents and has to take care of her sister. But over the years she has become heartless and cold. Little does she realize the reason why. Ryke who is a fire king comes to Elzira’s castle to take her sister as his wife. But things instantly change when he sets eyes on Elzira. I absolutely loved this storyline. It was intense, down right gripping and interesting from beginning to end. Full of twists and turns that you don’t see coming. Elzira and Ryker have absolutely off the charts amazing chemistry. Another fairy tale with such a twist you wont believe what you are reading. I loved it and highly recommend it.
Oh my this was an awesome retelling! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. This author never fails to keep me hooked. From start to finish I was captivated by the characters, the story, the setting and everything this story had to offer. Ryke was great. A jerk when he wanted to be and super sweet other time. Elzira was amazing. I love how she loved her queendom (because kingdom just doesn’t fit here hehehe) and just seeing her strive to do what was right but also did a bomb a** job at doing it. Add in the steam factor, and this isn’t a fairytale for children that’s for sure. I can’t wait to see the other retellings in this series. 5 stars #2OCCJD

This was a quick, fun read with a dark little twist on a popular fairy tale which I absolutely devoured in no time flat. Not that I’m all that surprised, it is K Webster after all, but sometimes those things need to be stated.
As for our King and Queen. I adored Ryke. He is all kinds of take charge Alpha AF male and though he can be cruel, there is a sense of honor and even compassion in him that draws you in. And then there is Elzira. She is cruel but she is also kind (anyone else have the song Cruel to be Kind running their heads?) ..that dichotomy made her absolutely fascinating to me and I loved watching as the two sides of her came together and made her stronger.
Their journey to their HEA is definitely an interesting one, but one I thoroughly enjoyed. They are well matched adversaries and I loved their bantering and how they ended up being each other’s everything
It’s hard to not sound like a broken record when it comes to Ms. Webster because I truly love all the words that she has put out into the universe and this baby is no different. She kept things simple even while building a vibrant and rich new world and was detailed and yet didn’t over do it. While this has its dark moments, it is not as dark as some of her other works, so there are triggers but nothing too extreme, at least IMHO. The secondary cast of characters are all well written and I’m hoping that we’ll visit this world again sometime in the future!

A delightfully dark retelling of Frozen!
When I realized this was a retelling of the animated story Frozen, I inwardly groaned. I was asking myself, “Can K. Webster twist this epic fairy tale into something just as great as the original?” Not only did she accomplish that, but she exceeded it! I should have known. 🙂
This was a deliciously dark spin on the animated Disney story Frozen. K. Webster does a wonderful job of writing a captivating plot with twists and turns. It was a wild ride but I loved every minute of it. It had a healthy dose of angst, action, passion, betrayal, and even a few laughs. Although it was dark and twisted, there were some very tender moments and the steam was off the charts.
I would go so far as to say this is one of my favorite fairy tale retellings. It sucked me in from the start and didn’t let me go until the end. I loved the epilogue as well. I wish K. Webster would make this into a trilogy or series. I would love to see what happens next!
