Would I read more from the author? Yes
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Let it go, let it go…and by that, I mean let everything you are doing go and read this brilliant adaptation of a fairy tale known to so many. This, however, is a grown-up version and I LOVED it. I was literally glued from the beginning to the very last page.
What a combination of characters there are, the Cold Queen Elzira, ice and the King of Bloodson Ryke, fire and when the two become one it is a force to be reckoned with. It’s also one I enjoyed immensely. This does have a few twists and turns which put me on the edge of my seat more than once.
I honestly can’t recommend it enough, it was soooo much better than the children’s version and I cant wait to see what sinister fairytale comes next. I for one will be one-clicking them all without hesitation if this is anything to go by. I applaud K. Webster for this amazing tale!
When it comes to this series that all these authors have come together to write… I took the chance because it did sound like something different. I honestly wasn’t overly that bothered about Disney or fairytales of any kid growing up. Yeah, I watched them but I never took to them like most kids. So I started this series and was pleasantly surprised and loving it and K. Webster’s book Cold Queen was such a delight to read.
This read was an amazing read… As always, K. Webster flaws me with her ability to write a book so profound that it felt as though I was part of the plot. This sucked me in deep and it didn’t let up until the very end.
This was a fantasy romance, and a retelling of the fairytale Frozen just had in a whole lot of K. Websters plot twists, her ability to turn nearly anything sinful and intense and you get this beauty.
Elzira is the icy Queen of the Norta Icelands and Ryke is the hot King of the Souta Volcanoes (If you have watched Frozen then these names you will notice be similar to the ones in that story) and what starts off as King Ryke coming for Elzira younger sister, but the plan her he had mapped out goes up in flames when he meets Elzira.. and what a crazy retelling of this fairytale this way.
This book started off cold but the heat in it is enough to melt any icy cold heart. I can honestly say that I have not read a book like this before. I know the fairytale well enough and I loved the spin that the author put on this one. I was enchanted, enticed and completely captivated by Ms. Webster’s words. She’s always had the ability to suck me in hard and have me get lost in her words and this book was no different and it just proves to me that this author can write just about a genre/sub-genre and know that without fail, I will fall helplessly in love with each and every word she writes.
5 Stars!
It’s official, K. Webster can write in any genre, subgenre, trope and everything in between, with no fault.
This launch into fantasy deserves so much more than 5’s.
The exquisite world she creates pulls you in, as
the emotion her characters instill, captivate.
Loved this story from begging to end and was read in one sitting!
It is inconceivable to believe that you can ever go wrong with anything you read by this author.
A can’t put down read you’ll be happy you found.
5 diamondblades, I mean 5 diamond stars from me.
This book came as a total surprise, so it’s fair to say that, for me, K. Webster is the Queen of Surprises. She does it every time I read one of her books, and she did it this time also; because although I figured out the plot twist early on ( you can blame that on years of watching all kinds of CSI and the hints Kristi spred out as little breakcrumbs along the story ) she still managed to surprise the hell out of me. I have to admit, my jaw hit the floor at every 5 minutes. It’s dark, gruesome, scary in some places, but it’s also fantasy, suspense, exiting erotic, fairy tale love story, and funny all rolled into one. And I just LOVED it. I love fantasy books ( Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit are two my most favorite books of that genre) love stories, erotic novels, and this book has it all, so this was all PERFECTION on every step. It took me to a fantasy world. In the begining it’s a colision of two worlds, cold against hot, Ice Queen against Fiery King , white against black, which in the end merge into a perfect union. It is very well written, actually, reading Cold Queen was like watching a movie… I saw it all happening right in front of my eyes. . Not one minute of boredom, so Thank You Queen of Surprises for a great experience.
Fav. quotes:
“You can’t warm up what doesn’t want to be anything but cold.”
“She may rule the Eyes of the White and be The Punisher of the Damned, but I am the Truth Seeker. I have the sight into what isn’t meant to be seen. Besides my fiery gift I have one of the mind too. ”
“Her face shines with happiness. Joy. Hope. Life. How dare those who ever tried to keep this powerful queen weak an on her knees. She was meant to stand above all men, including myself.”
“So close to death, my queen.
You simply needed a dark king to be bring you back to life.”
“How he reduces me to a begging, trembling, aching mess is beyond me. If it were anyone else, I’d kill them. Not Ryke Bloodsun, King of the Volks. Truth Seeker and fire maker. Bossy, infuriating, man. Breathtakingly beautiful.”
“The woman is beautiful in her natural glory, but this day she is extraordinary.”
“I’ll burn the whole damn world to the ground. If you can’t exist in my world, then no one else is allowed to.
My cruel queen smiles.”Our love is distructive.”
“Only for those who attempt to step between it.”
‘Cold Queen’ is a sinister version of ‘Frozen’, which all of us know.
In ‘Frozen’ we have Elsa, here we have ‘Elzira’.
In ‘Frozen’ we have Elsa’s little sister – Anna, here we have Elzira’s little sister Yanna.
Finally in ‘Frozen’ we have a cold kingdom with ice and in ‘Cold Queen’ we have the same theme.
I was very curious about this story and when ‘Cold Queen’ appeared on my Kindle, I took it and read. A few hours later I was after this story and… I really don’t know what I am thinking about this book.
Elzira is a cold queen. She must grown up fast, because her father died. She must take her sister under her wings and look after Yanna. One day to the Whitestone Kingdom the Bloodsun King arrives. He wants Yanna as a wife, but… when he saw Elzira, he changes his mind.
And in the end he takes, what he wants.
But this is not over. Because the war is coming and they must prepare to defence their kingdoms.
‘Cold Queen’ is dark and steamy story, but sometimes it was a little too sweet for me. It is a fantasy, but not for the children. Elzira is darker, than Elza and we have a king here of course. A King with a goal. So you know… he will do everything to make this goal real.
It was a good book.
K. Webster is a queen of words so it’s no shock that this book was very well done, what did shock me is how amazing she wrote a paranormal story. I absolutely loved The Cold Queen. Being it’s a book from Sinister Fairy Tales Collection, it is based lightly on Frozen, but make no mistake it is not a light Disney story. It’s twisted, dark, and cold. As well as it’s hot, very HOT, in more ways than one. This story will chill you to the bone and light your heart on fire. I can’t say much more with out giving away the story. I can tell you, I 100% love it!
Cold Queen is the sinister version of Frozen, essentially. Elzira is Queen Whitestone, the cold hearted queen who is slowly wasting away. Her power has left her and she is fighting to survive.
In walks in Ryke, King Bloodsun, full of fire and questing for the truth. He’s there to strike a deal with Elzira; a business proposition if you will. But instead finds himself captivated and actively works to bring Elzira back from the brink. Once on her way back to health, you get to see Elzira’s true strength.
There’s definitely a bit of instalove involved, but the chemistry is insane.
I had doubts about Elzira and Ryke at the beginning. I was confused by their relationship – why was Ryke being nice to her at all?? But it all came together by the end.
The only thing I’m missing was some showtunes and singing!
Elzira “Queen Whitestone” may believe she is dying but she has her sister, Yanna, to take care of so she must stay strong. When Ryke “King Bloodsun” comes to offer the queen peace in exchange for her sister’s hand in marriage she out right refuses. Too bad he isn’t one to take no for an answer! However, Elizira is stronger then she appears. After all…she is the ruthless snow queen. Will Ryke get what he came for or will what he wants change? This is a dark & steamy fantasy retelling that might just melt your ebook and is not your child’s fairytale. This is part of the sinister fairytale collection but can be read as a stand-alone. The cold never felt so hot! Told in dual POV.
Absolutely love this book! Very well written! The plots twists was brilliantly executed and I am in love with the ending. There is no sugar coating in K Webster’s books and I love her for that. Everything is raw and real. Awesome job Kristi!!!
