Six years ago tragedy tore them apart… again, and so far, they’d kept their promise. But today…Jackson has a good reason for breaking his promise. Maggie’s life depends on it.
Will it now bring them back together?
In an ongoing investigation, Jackson has learned that university officials secretly photographed her classroom in a study on attendance. The recorder was supposed to run only during the class session, but it malfunctioned and recorded an entire week, which includes a shocking murder that has now put Maggie’s life in danger. Can Jackson unravel the lies surrounding this incident before the killer unleashes his fury on Maggie and takes her life?

This book was great! Jackson and Maggie were both great characters! What they had to work through was so interesting too. I wasn’t sure how Sleeman was going to pull off them having a backstory without it being super similar to Gage and Hannah’s story, but she did a wonderful job. It’s so much fun reading through the Blackwell Tactical team.
Another Cold Harbor book, and one that I have to admit I was not looking forward too as much. But once I started it, I immediately fell in love with the book. It was so enthralling, and I loved Jackson and Maggie. Their love story was so sad and sweet. And of course it was also great to see the family relationship of the Blackwell group again.
Cold Fury is about Maggie and Jackson who were a former couple. They however had promised each other that they would never see each other again, but Jackson ends up breaking that promise because a killer is out to kill Maggie. Jackson and Maggie are the classic “we can’t be together because you won’t open up”. But they brought something new to the table with their chemistry, love for each other, and love for God. I really liked how Jackson realized that he needed to trust God instead of holding everything so tightly. Ultimately, they realized that they would fail each other, but God would never fail them.
I was so excited to read and see even more of Hannah, Gage, Kiera, and even Kevin. Cameos are literally the greatest thing ever! Cold Fury is an excellent suspenseful and romantic book with great dialogue, and an awesome balance between the romance and suspense. You never feel like they are taking away from the suspense with the romance, or taking away from the romance with the suspense. I would definitely recommend this book, and even though it is for adults, I don’t think that it is super intense and it is also very clean.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This is an incredible romantic suspense novel!
It was wonderful to return to visit the team at Blackwell Tactical. I loved getting a look at how life is progressing for the main characters from the first two book in the series. In this story though Jackson Lockhart steps into the spotlight. His past is revealed along with some things that helped form his character. All of the characters in this book are very well developed and presented in a way that I can just picture them in my mind’s eye while reading.
It was great getting to know Maggie, Jackson’s lost love. They are both holding deep heartache from a tragedy that tore them apart. I thoroughly enjoyed the emotional journey that they each took. They had to learn how to trust God with their pain and move past it.
The plot for this book is fantastic. It is filled with lots of twists and turns. I was fascinated by the details given about the tactical ops the team carried out.

Cold Fury by Susan Sleeman
Cold Harbor Series Book Three
Jackson Lockhart had been a Green Beret. It had been his life…so much so that he left behind his fiancé when she needed him most. And not being there for her had cost him his relationship with her. He’d left with them each promising never to see or contact the other again. Ever.
Maggie Turner loved working in her field of anthropology. Helping identify victims to give their families the peace to lay to rest their loved ones. After a devastating forest fire that had her working non-stop to identify what was left of the victims…her past caught up to her. Jackson.
When it comes to protecting strangers…the men and woman of Blackwell Tactical are some of the best. When it comes to protecting someone they have a connection with…there is no keeping them away. Even if it means breaking a six-year-old promise. A wonderful series. I love the way the author wraps the spiritual side into the stories.

This is the third in a series and it sure does take off with a bang. I love how the author has developed a series that follows a group of people and their lives. Each story is packed with action and I love getting to know the team members better.
Maggie is a very smart woman who has had to overcome a great loss in her life. Her past comes back to greet her in a way that will impact her thinking and safety. I enjoyed getting to know Jackson and how his life intersected with Maggie’s. What I really enjoyed was reading about computers and hacking. I’m somewhat of a geek and find programming intriguing. The author does a great job of giving details about how computers can be hacked and the danger it can cause.
Maggie is in danger when she happens upon a crime. Now she must rely on Jackson and the Blackwell Tactical Team to keep her safe. There are many twists in the story that keeps readers engrossed. I loved the unexpected chemistry between Maggie and Jackson, but I’m not sure she has forgiven him for the past. Will she be able to trust him as he risks his life to find out who is after her? Don’t miss this story filled with intrigue and danger. I did like the theme in the book of forgiveness and trust. You will have to read for yourself what happens as the team takes on a dangerous cat and mouse game that will have you turning pages as fast as you can.
I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.
Another good book in the Cold Harbor series. Plenty of suspense and surprise as the characters find themselves facing murderers and gun dealers. Enjoyed reading about the Blackwell group working as a team moreso than in the last book. The romance was somewhat bittersweet, but ended on a positive, happy note.
If you enjoy nonstop action, intrigue, and suspense with some romance thrown in for extra measure, you’ll like Cold Fury by Susan Sleeman. Creating realistic, flawed, but engaging characters is one of Sleeman’s strengths along with her obvious research skills. This story drew me quickly and held my attention until the end. Jackson and Maggie had baggage from a shared history but were still drawn to each other when a crisis occurred and Maggie needed Jackson’s protection. I liked the thread of forgiveness that ran through the story and the hope and trust that was developed between them. This can be a stand-alone book, although it is part of a series. It’s fun to see appearances of characters from some of the other books in this story. For clean Christian suspense that will keep you reading late into the night, Susan Sleeman is a go-to author. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This talented author once again manages to give us a story that is not only engaging, but also has a very complex plot.
We get a chance to meet up again with the Blackwell Tactical group. A group made up of f courageous former military individuals who due to injuries had to give up their military service but have found a calling in another form.
This time it’s Jackson Lockhart’s story an that of his former fiancee, Maggie Turner. They suffered a terrible loss six years ago and promised to never meet again. But fate has them meeting up again when Maggie, now a forensic anthropologist, is in danger. One of her students at the college she teaches, has been murdered and she might have seen the murderer. Blackwell has been hired to find out who killed the student and Jackson is the lead investigator.
From the moment they reunite, you feel their devastating, longing , and sadness. They both have questioned God’s reasons for what happened to them and their faith has suffered.
While the suspense, whodonit, etc keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat, it’s the complexity of these individuals that really drew me into the story. Faith is questioned, what ifs are always in their minds, and feelings of guilt might hamper a future with happiness.
Another winner in this wonderful series. Can’t wait to see what else Ms Sleeman has in store for us.
I was gifted a copy of book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
