Just when you think you know someone… The Seattle police suspect Madison Lieberman’s father was the serial killer they call the “Sandpoint Strangler.” Madison refuses to believe it. Her father is now dead, and all she wants is the chance to create a new life for herself and her six-year-old child. Then she discovers something in the crawl space beneath her parents’ house. Something that makes … Something that makes her question her father’s innocence. Or the innocence of someone else who’s equally close to her…
When another woman turns up dead, crime writer Caleb Trovato wonders whether they’re dealing with a copycat killer. Or is the real Sandpoint Strangler still alive? Caleb’s sure Madison knows more than she’s telling, and he’s determined to find out what. But he doesn’t expect to fall in love–or to lead Madison and her child into danger….

Oh my! Twists and turns from past murdering of women, a lull, then it begins again. Was Madison’s deceased father the killer, her step brothers, ex husband or was it someone else and now a copycat killer or the same. Caleb, ex copy who worked on the original case and now an author is looking to see if he can find the truth, especially since his ex’s sister has been murdered. Great characters who you will love or hate or both.
I’m rarely surprised when the murderer is disclosed at the end of the book but Brenda Novak did just that with this one. Filled with twists and turns, haunting emotions, and plenty of chemistry between the hero, Caleb, and the heroine, Maddie. This one was hard to put down and kept me turning the pages well into the night.
Enjoyed the twists and turns
I really enjoy Brenda Novak books. This one doesn’t disappoint. Great characters and wonderful story.
Having read several books by this author, I knew to expect a couple of twists and turns but I was still surprised. The characters were well developed (even the ones you love to hate), and enough drama/tension to feel legitimate. This is a little dark, especially as you reflect more on the villain after you finish the book, but the author often is. Overall, good quick read that is fast paced.
I enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and entertaining. It’s the first of Brenda Novak’s books that I’ve read and I would go to her work again. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense, this is good.
A quick easy read some things were implausible but an okay read. Loved the twist at the end.
I fully enjoyed this book. A good romantic suspence
I enjoyed it. I can usually guess whodunit about halfway through, but I was wrong twice! That is a good read to me.
I really enjoyed this book keep me very interested in finishing the book
Her father was named the serial killer they call the “Sandpoint Strangler.” When Madison Lieberman’s father commits suicide, it draws many to the conclusion that he was guilty of the crimes Madison does not believe her father committed. Years later as Madison continues to try and get past the whispers and the past she settles in close to her mother with her daughter after her divorce. It does not help that her ex-husband who has remarried is trying to gain custody of their daughter or that recently Madison found something in the basement of her childhood home.
Caleb Trovato has always been drawn to the story of the Sandpoint Strangler and hopes to one day write a book about him and the murders. A renowned crime writer and successful author Caleb returns to the place where it all begin. This time his ex-wife asks him to come back to help find her sister who has gone missing along with other women. Could this be a copycat or perhaps Madison’s father did not commit the crimes as everyone thought. This reprint I found at times to be very slow which is why I gave it three stars.
I couldn’t put Cold Feet down. What a great afternoon to spend reading about realistic characters involved in a situation that could change their lives forever. You’ll encounter a new twist with every tunr of the page. Trust and deception battle against irrepressible love. Definitely take this book to the beach!
