Best friends snowed in together. When the heat rises, will they get cold feet?
Getting snowed in at a remote cottage in Wales with someone he’d fancied for ages isn’t exactly how Sam expected to spend Christmas. His feelings for Ryan are pointless. Ryan’s straight—or so he thought.
Until now, Ryan’s kept his feelings for Sam buried. Why ruin a friendship over what might only be gay … be gay experimentation? Playing it cool seems safer, until a cold snap makes sharing body heat vital. In their Welsh safe haven, anything seems possible.
As Ryan’s reserve melts away, Sam wants more than stolen kisses under the mistletoe. But a sudden thaw means making decisions. They could face the New Year together—unless one of them gets cold feet.

Cold Feet is an adorable standalone romance that is perfect the winter holidays. Sam and Ryan head out to a remote cabin for a holiday get together, but when an unexpected snowstorm hits, they are snowed in together…all alone…with just their simmering (yet hidden) romantic feelings. Although the premise of the plot is not unique, Jay Northcote does craft a wonderful and delightful story that immediately sucked me in. Sam and Ryan, although they have an intense and amazing romantic connection, still have to work through the problems after their vacation ends. This book is filled with sweetness, romance, and mild angst (but with a happy ending).
The audiobook was narrated by Matthew Lloyd Davies who did a great job. I enjoyed Matthew’s voice and thought he did a great job with all the characters. The audiobook production was well done and overall I really liked the book.
A seasonal friends to lovers story…what’s not to love?
I have a fondness for this author’s university age main characters and, although this story is different, it somehow reminds me of the first Housemates book. (That is my absolute favourite Jay Northcote book.) Like that, this is another of the author’s earlier books. It did have some limitations as it is a shorter read/listen. For example, Ryan’s relationship with his parents felt glossed over. It is, nevertheless, quite charming and just right for this time of year, and low on angst despite the misunderstandings near the end. It is also unashamedly British, which is always a plus for me!
This is, I believe, my first listen to a narration by Matthew Lloyd Davies. He brought the characters ably to life and I loved Mari’s accent in particular. I will definitely look out for further narration by him.
Friends to lovers great book.
I read this book a while back and loved it and in Audio I fell in love all over again.
It’s a story of friends, one gay, one straight, alone together over the festive season and hidden desires surfacing.
Well written, well narrated and a lively feel good book. Did have to speed up the narration but I normally do.

All I want for Christmas is to learn to communicate better!
I loved all the premises: best friends secretly pining for each other, one of them struggling with admitting his sexuality; forced proximity with the two of them snowed in over Christmas; none of them sure the other wants to take things further than friendship.
But these two guys made me so mad! The lack of communication and assumptions Ryan and Sam jump to is absolutely maddening and frustrating. It takes one final, frankly completely unnecessary, fight for them to finally snap and stop with the half-mumbled sentences and barbs.
The book in enjoyable, all in all is a quick and cute and pretty sweet.
This was a sweet, short Christmas read. A friends to lovers forced proximity. First you have Sam, who has been pining for his best friend for years. Then there is Ryan who only started thinking about Sam in a not so friendly way when Sam came out. And well, Ryan is not so straight after all. So they go on holiday to their friend’s cabin. Their friends are meeting them up there. Only problem is they can’t make it, so it’s just a cabin for two and it’s cold so they must share a bed. finally their relationship changes. Not smooth sailing after though they still have a few challenges. But I’m the end they get their HEA.
4 stars-
I read Cold Feet as part of the Christmas Crackers collection. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers, bi-awakening story. I loved the little cottage and the way the unexpected storm brought about so many warm moments between best friends.
Snowbound in a frigid cottage, this couple brings the heat
Good story of unrequited, hidden feelings coming out when university friends Sam and Ryan find themselves stranded alone in a chilly cottage at Christmas. Along with the romance and steamy scenes there’s a bit of sad backstory for Ryan, the child of a broken home who finds himself a bit lost around the holidays when families usually gather.
I liked it but prefer Northcote’s A Family for Christmas.
I read a complimentary copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
