I absolutely loved this book! This is book 7 in the True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn by Dana Mentink.
Dana is an amazing authors and her words come to life in this story. Penny and Bradley have waited 20 years to find and capture their parent’s murderer and the time has finally come. But did he commit one murder our two?
Penny has dealt with low self esteem her whole life and Tyler wants to help her. One of my favorite things he said to Penny in the book is, “You are lovable and loved because God says so.” And he is so right! We have to learn to see ourselves through God’s eyes.
This book has plenty of suspense, love, and inspiration. And as always, a happy ending. You’re gonna love it!
Cold Case Pursuit
Dana Mentink
This is a story written with twists and turns that makes you hold your breath as you read. I started it and couldn’t put it down. Loved how two hurting souls worked together praying for healing and a happy ever after.
Another great story in the True Blue K-9 Unit:Brooklyn Book 7.
Cold Case Pursuit is the newest installment and book 7 in the Love Inspired True Blue K-9 series: Brooklyn. It is part of a continuity series, but I have only read this one and had no problem following what was going on. Even though there seems to be a continuing storyline, this story wraps up at the end of this book so it can totally be read as a standalone.
This book centers around Penelope (Penny) and Tyler. Penny’s parents were murdered twenty years ago and the killer, Randall, was never captured. He has now resurfaced vowing to kill Penny and her brother, Bradley. What begins is a fast-paced cat and mouse game. It doesn’t matter how many protections are put in place for Penny, Randall always seems one step ahead meaning lots of nail-biting for me the reader.
In addition to writing such fabulous page-turning suspense, Dana Mentink is a master at writing complex characters and knows how to incorporate just the right amount of romance. Both Penny and Tyler had to work through so many issues from their pasts before they would ever be able to move forward in a relationship with one another. As a dog lover, I must also mention that I absolutely loved all the canine characters in this story.
I was given a copy of this book by the author. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Cold Case Pursuit
Cold case pursuit is a exciting book. I loved the little girl Rain and also the dog Scrappy. Penny is being stalk by her parents killer. He wants to kill her and her brother. Will they be able to get away? Tyler is doing his best to protect her. Rain is Tyler little girl. Rain becomes close to Penny. I love books with dogs and kids in it. Read Cold Case Pursuit, I know you will love it too.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.
I love reading books where you already know the killer and he keeps coming after the victim time and again but gets away! The tension mounts and you just CANNOT put the book down!!! The author is a master as suspense and non-stop action. I love reading her books and this was a great one. Penny witness the murder of her parents 20 years ago but the killer let her live. However, now he decides that it’s time she dies and her brother too so he’s coming after them! How terrifying would that be in real life! You’ve been dealing with those memories for 20 years only to have them resurrected now and know that at any moment, he could snatch your life away! Penny actually comes close to that several times! Tyler is the police offer tasked with her safety, even though her brother, Bradley is a police offer too but the killer also has HIM in his sights so Tyler is the one who is trying to keep Penny safe. He’s a single-father too and his daughter is so adorable! I really enjoyed this story – all the elements of it – even the angst both Penny & Tyler feel as their feeling towards each other deepen. It’s a great book!
‘You are lovable and loved because God said so.’
Twenty years ago Penny McGregor’s parents were murdered in front of her and the killer gave her a stuffed animal. Now, the killer has been identified and he’s coming after her and her brother, a K-9 officer. Detective Tyler Walker and his own K-9, Dusty, are charged with protecting Penny, not an easy thing to do because this is a vicious killer who seemingly cannot be stopped. Will Tyler, a single father, be able to keep both Penny and his own daughter safe with a killer who is determined to achieve his goal?
Dana Mentink once again takes her readers on a high suspense filled novel. I am a dog lover and I love reading about K-9 cops and this series fits the bill perfectly. Populated with good characters and dogs, how could it not be a great book? Loved every minute. Recommended.
*My thanks to the author and publisher for a copy of this book. The review is entirely my own.
I enjoy so much reading Love Inspired books. They are small and packed full of fun and adventure. And Cold Case Pursuit was no different. This action packed suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. And I had to read it in one setting because I couldn’t put it down. This story has some difficult issues and I feel the author handles them well. The romance and suspense is strong, and of course there is law enforcement of some kind involved. And I enjoy the faith factor in the story as well. If you like a good suspense that you can read pretty fast you will definitely enjoy this one
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
Dana Mentink is one of my favorite authors. Her characters are realistic and easy to care about. I like her Roughwater Ranch Cowboys series but especially this third book of the four, “Cold Case Connection.” Helen Pike is learning that the consequences of mistakes in her youth can not only be as far reaching as the fifteen-year-old cold case of her friend Trish’s murder but also the three-year old hit-and-run killing of another high school friend, Fiona. Fiona had been staying in the same cottage where Helen now lived to be close to the Rough Water Lodge she helped manage. Three days ago she found Fiona’s note that alluded to proof of Trish’s murder. Sergio, Fiona’s brother, was taking care of Fiona’s almost-three-year old twins with the help of a nanny. And he had brought the three of them back here to search for his sister’s killer, who had a stake in what happened in the fifteen-year-old cold case, also. Sergio Ross! The one person Helen Pike never wanted to see again. To top it all off, someone tries to burn the cottage with Helen in it. Dana Mentink sprinkles romance, humor, and forgiveness along with intense suspense in this inspiring novel.
Dana Mentink is one of my favorite Love Inspired Suspense authors, and Cold Case Pursuit just cements her place on my future tbr lists.
Twenty years after the murder of her parents, their killer returns to torment Penelope. Her brother and the rest of the Brooklyn K-9 team rally around her to bring the man to justice). And Tyler Walker takes her protection seriously.
With an intense suspense thread that builds and then drops you in a rush of adrenaline, strong and caring K9 officers, an adorable dog and little girl (I mean, just look at that cover!), and a matchmaking inclined mother, I could not put this book down until the satisfying conclusion.
Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I always enjoy Dana Mentink’s romantic suspense but she has outdone herself with this book. It’s now one of my favorites from her writing! Packed with intense action, pursuit, and suspense, this book will have you biting your nails until the end of the book. The romance between Penny and Tyler is sweet and tender, even if both of them have reservations about starting any relationship. Penny is gentle, loving, and compassionate though she’s still running scared from the trauma that took her parents away from her twenty years ago. Now the suspected murderer of her parents has resurfaced for Penny and it’s up to Tyler to keep her safe. Tyler is a great hero – brooding from his divorce and rejection, hard-working and dedicated as a police detective in the K-9 unit, tender and protective as a single father. His interactions with his mother is quite endearing as is his friendship with Penny’s older brother Bradley. The police dogs, as well as Penny’s pet Scrappy, are easy to fall in love with and rounded out a lovely set of secondary characters.
This is book 7 from the True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn series and it can definitely be read as a stand-alone but it does seem to address two threats that have been hanging over this department throughout the series. The author does a great job of cluing the reader in to these on-going plot lines and I didn’t have a problem understanding them even though I haven’t read any other book in the series.
I received a copy of the book via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments are solely my own.
It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the Love Inspired Suspense books. I subscribe to the the Reader’s service through their website. I love that they contain lots of action, leave you on the edge of your seat adreneline – and will keep you going until the very end. I am also a huge fan of Dana Mentink. I have read several of her books and they are always amazing. She is very animated and always posts fun stuff through her facebook page.
Cold Case Pursuit is part of the True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn Series. I have not read the other books in the series (yet – there are a few that are in my TBR pile). They are written by different authors and while each story is unique – they are all tied together by the K9 family. You will see characters reappearing. In this book Penelope and her brother, Bradley were left orphans at young ages. The killer clown that was responsible for their parents death is still on the loose. The killer let Penelope live – because he felt he was freeing her from “bad parents that were neglectful”. However as the 20 year anniversary approaches – Penelope tells the press “The killer is a monster.” So, he resurfaces to finish her and her brother off.
Enter swoon worthy single dad K9 Detective Tyler. He is Bradley’s best friend – and is falling for his kid sister. Can he keep her safe? Tyler comes with his own baggage resulting his his divorce and his full single dad duty. He is drawn to Penelope and wants to get closer to her.
The killer will not stop until Bradley and Penelope is dead. If that means that he puts others around them in danger – then so be it. This book starts out with the first few pages of action – and does not let up. The author is crafty with her descriptions. She writes so you can visualize yourself there. The author throws in lots of twists and turns – and while the killer is known early on – that does not mean that the suspense is over. I also want to pet Scrappy. The K9 drop out that becomes Penelope’s guard. I am a sucker for dogs.
I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit blogging program – all thoughts are my own.
The killer has haunted Penny since her childhood, now he is out for revenge.
Penny finds herself under the protection of Detective Tyler Walker and his K-9 partner, Dusty after the re-emergence of a killer from her past. Tyler is determined to do his job, while also keeping his young daughter, Rain, safe from harm. Tyler is guarded and loves his daughter more than anything, I loved how devoted he is to his role as a father, as well as how he is also close to his mother who helps with Rain while he is working.
There is plenty going on in this story with great tension and an engaging plot, as Tyler and Penny come to depend on one another as they work to catch the vengeful killer. I liked how this book picks up Penny’s story, which has been mentioned the background of previous installments of this exciting series.
Overall it was an entertaining read, with great themes of faith, trust and commitment. Rain is an adorable little girl and I loved seeing her interact with and get to know Penny. A suspenseful read with great plot tension as well as romantic. An enjoyable read!
I received a complimentary ecopy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Cold Case Pursuit ( True Blue K-9 unit: Brooklyn #7 )
By; Dana Mentink
Wow, what a story. A Love Inspired Suspense Inspirational Romance. This story is related to a twenty years ago murder and now the killer is back. A very excited book and full of action, mystery, suspense, K-9 unit, and a very sweet little girl. I love books with little kids and dogs in them. You start reading and action is right away and you are holding your breath all through out the story. I was not disappointed. Will the killer be caught before someone else dies?
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are mine.
Warning! If you’re a bit of a chicken, like me, maybe you should start this one in the daytime! I thought I would just read a quick chapter or two right before bed. What I didn’t realize is that the opening scene is so perfectly spooky, that you’ll start hearing strange noises in your own house! Throw in a clown mask, (insert goosebumps here) and this becomes a perfect read for October!
Penelope’s parents were killed when she was very young and now years later, that same killer is after her. Tyler and his K-9 partner must protect Penelope until the murderer is found. This sets us up for some very suspenseful moments. Right when I started breathing normally again, something happened! There is also a wonderful faith thread in this story. This quote sums it up very well!
“You are lovable and loved because God says so.”
This is my favorite quote from this book. So simple, yet so true and something we should all remember.
While Cold Case Pursuit by Dana Mentink is part of the True Blue K-9 unit series, it reads perfectly fine as a standalone. If you are in the mood for a spooky suspense with a little romance thrown in, this is it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Wow. This book was non-stop from the first page to the last. I loved Penny, who was trying to hang on to some sort of control of her life, even though a killer was trying to take everything away. I loved Tyler, who, even though he struggled with his feelings, was able to tell Penny she was loveable and loved “because God said so”. I think we all need to hear that at times. The author did a wonderful job telling this story, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I would recommend this book.
